00:55should say against Idaho the Ducks were nearly a 50-point home favorite the
01:00Vandals a strong FCS team give Oregon all they can handle it was a three-point
01:06game early in the fourth quarter but Oregon does survive winning by 10 24 to
01:1214 did that catch your attention on Saturday it did because sometimes the
01:17numbers don't add up like it was a 10-point win Oregon 31 first downs
01:22Idaho 10 total yards 217 for Idaho 487 for Oregon is that well they probably
01:28turned it over 10 times no they even won the turnover battle Oregon 2 to 1 at
01:32that point so that was an eye-opening number because then you would point
01:35right away hold on like if Gabriel goes 41 of 49 for 380 you think of that was
01:42one of those games where they're topping 60 plus points in it that's why you're
01:45looking at these numbers oh maybe they didn't run the ball at all they did
01:48running back with the 95 yards on 15 carries just an oddity overall as a game
01:52I don't know what to make of it but the statistics don't match up to that final
01:56score at all yeah they don't at all because Dylan gave no food for nearly
02:01400 yards Donnie mentioned there you look at some of the box score numbers
02:05and it was hard to figure out why the Ducks were even in a competitive
02:09football game they had multiple turnover on downs to end possessions their second
02:15offensive possession of the game they drive down the field they missed a field
02:18goal a couple of opportunities where Oregon did not take advantage in Idaho
02:23kept it competitive shout out to the Vandals outside of number two Ohio State
02:28in number three Oregon we had some dominant performances out of Texas
02:33against FBS fo Colorado State who won five games a season ago and many thought
02:38including myself that the offense would be there for the Rams
02:41Braden Fowler Nicolosi and Torrey Horton they got blanked by the Longhorns
02:46Alabama oh boy they rolled over Western Kentucky a team under Tyson Helton that
02:52has won at least eight games in all four four years under Helton for the
02:57Hilltoppers they got shut out even with TJ Finley as their quarterback a guy
03:02that started his career or at least played at a stop at Auburn had played
03:07Alabama twice did nothing offensively against the Tide on Saturday in the
03:12first game of the Kalen DeBoer era following Nick Saban the Crimson Tide
03:16looked darn good 63 to zip in Jackson Dark the quarterback for Ole Miss yes
03:22against FCS fo in Furman had 445 total yards in the opening half against the
03:30Paladins in Oxford on Saturday night Ole Miss rolls 76 zip yeah they had a lot of
03:37scrimmages here week number one which I'm sure some teams like Florida State
03:40and LSU would have loved to have some of those scrimmage games at that point but
03:43the one game that was interesting to me was Texas 52 to nothing over Colorado
03:47State we heard a lot in the offseason about a couple players buying in at
03:50Colorado State giving up hundreds of thousands of dollars if not maybe a
03:54million dollars to leave school and they got absolutely hammered but Quinn Ewers
03:582027 Arch Manning five of six throws his touchdown here start that season and
04:04also on deck as we're gonna talk about and quite frankly rightfully so Texas
04:08and Michigan lining up here during this week so a lot of good stuff overall a
04:13lot of anticipated scoring outcomes and a lot of high scoring outcomes here that
04:17we're going over right now it is a big noon kickoff in the big house on
04:22Saturday a top-ten tilt between Michigan and Texas line opened at three and a
04:30half in favor of the Longhorns it is now above a touchdown in favor of UT
04:36Texas a seven and a half point road favorite in Ann Arbor against the
04:42reigning national title winners in Michigan 44 and a half is that total
04:47the maize and blue a little bit leaky on Saturday night at home against a good
04:51Fresno State team though out of the Mountain West 30 to 10 the final the
04:56offense really for the Wolverines was the issue Davis Warren came out of
05:01nowhere during fall camp to earn the starting job and what a story it is for
05:06the former walk-on at Michigan with diagnosed with leukemia in high school
05:10back in 2019 battled beat the disease even played in a high school football
05:15game just seven months later gets to Michigan earns a scholarship under Jim
05:21Harbaugh named the starter on Saturday night in Ann Arbor he wasn't terrible
05:26the offense just didn't really do all that much keep an eye on the running
05:30back room Kalel Mullins might be the best back even in favor of Donovan
05:35Edwards and I would not be surprised to see the athlete at the quarterback spot
05:39Alex orgy potentially get the starting nod for week number two against Texas
05:44yeah interesting but you see that final score 30 to 10 like okay they won easily
05:48by you know two touchdowns and or shoot three touchdowns and you were favored by
05:52around that margin so you can see it but this game was a six-point game in the
05:56fourth order you get that salt way 86-yard interception return which really
05:59made the score look much much better but this is a sign of the times here from
06:03Michigan Michigan looks like they're back to that old big 10 style football
06:07that opened up just a little bit under Harbaugh in the past couple years but
06:10you're not gonna see Michigan with too many 45 to 14 victories it looks like
06:14every one of these games by Michigan might even be played into the 20s here
06:18and that's gonna be fun to watch when they go up against Texas can you use
06:22that will slow this game down maybe not turn the football over and try to keep
06:26it close and win in the fourth quarter if that works feels like it might be a
06:29referendum game on the national champions in week number two for them
06:33which is crazy in DRS there is a thought of course Michigan entered this year
06:38with a win total of only eight and a half the over had the juice so much
06:41turnover not only roster wise but in the coaching staff and maybe most
06:45notably Conor stallions no longer there on Saturday night for the Mays and blue
06:50they were a 20 and a half point favorite and because of the pick six from maybe
06:54the best cornerback in college football Will Johnson they nearly covered the
06:59number a total that was in the low 50s did stay under for the Mays and blue
07:04against the Bulldogs but again it's a correlated thought I would say right you
07:08look at the underdog covering a relatively large spread for a top ten
07:13tilt and the total staying under forty four and a half the number on Saturday
07:18in Ann Arbor Michigan can keep it low scoring probably their best shot of
07:23winning outright or covering that spread eight another big ten team making a
07:28statement on Saturday eighth ranked Penn State in a rivalry matchup against West
07:33Virginia a West Virginia team that had a lot of optimism entering this year after
07:37nine wins a season ago in Morgantown the Nittany Lions go into Morgantown
07:42after a lengthy weather delay that happened around the halftime break for
07:46more than two hours Penn State comes out and does not miss a beat and again I
07:51believe in the Penn State Nittany Lions making the college football playoff this
07:54year part of it just the schedule secondly the offense being so much
07:59better and we saw that drew our looking really good through the air Harrison
08:04Wallace the third really good as a downfield receiving threat for Penn
08:09State in the ground game was great and the defense does not miss a beat now
08:13under Tom Allen's tutelage as the new defensive coordinator in Andy Kornel
08:18Nicky the new OC in State College get creative and looking good for Penn State
08:23on Saturday Penn State is such a wild place the reason I say this is like
08:27they're the only team that win every single game they're supposed to win and
08:31lose every single game they're not supposed to win it's kind of crazy how
08:35it works out because you want this year to be different but that's what we
08:38anticipated you're more talented than West Virginia pounded them 34 to 12 but
08:42we know with Penn State they're gonna win a lot of football games you're just
08:45not gonna win any big football games and I think the same thing's gonna be true
08:48this year Ben I don't care if the players change as long as that coach is
08:51there that's the mo absolutely destroy teams you're supposed to win but never
08:55step up to the plate when you're ready to go the Nittany Lions did cover as a
09:00seven-and-a-half point road favorite still a total of 49 and a hook staying
09:04under they held West Virginia to less than a hundred rushing yards for the Big
09:08Twelves best rushing offense a season ago and I don't know about the big games
09:13because they don't have Michigan on the docket nor Oregon either in the big the
09:18path is favorable to make it a very happy Valley this year we'll look at the
09:23title and Heisman odds next only one week for some two games but only one
09:28through in this 2024 college football season how have the odds moved in the
09:33chase for a national championship and those Heisman trophy odds in some spots
09:39pretty considerably Georgia rolls over Clemson as anticipated and their price
09:44to win a national title shortens by 10 cents plus 280 becomes plus 270 the
09:51Bulldogs the favorite Ohio State at plus 450 Texas and Oregon now tied for the
09:57third best number as the Ducks move back ever so slightly Alabama up from a
10:0114 to 1 number to 11 to 1 but Donnie the story really in two spots in my
10:08estimation the Miami Hurricanes 40 to 1 entering week 1 in the swamp nearly
10:13slashed that in half 22 to 1 now with that ninth best price and again when you
10:19look at these odds overall LSU moves back after the loss tied for the 10th
10:23best number alongside Michigan who also moves back at 35 to 1 but 8 of the 10
10:29best prices to win the title this year still hailing from either the Big Ten or
10:33the SEC yeah and we're gonna get some jockeying for position but also
10:37understanding that once you have some of these big battles like you see you know
10:40Michigan at 35 to 1 gonna take on Texas at 7 to 1 the winner of that game is
10:45going to increase the losers gonna fall back but it's not all over yet because
10:49technically you still get to have that guaranteed one loss and still trying to
10:52make your way into that 12 team college football playoff so I do think it's
10:55interesting there but you are gonna have those movers and shakers like I guess
10:59you could say we expect at least I did right I expected Georgia to handle
11:03Clemson easily so I don't get any takeaway from that game go wow that you
11:06know it really opened my eyes here George looks like you're gonna be a ball
11:09good ballclub we knew they would be that but bringing back into Miami I think of
11:13that top like Penn State Notre Dame Ole Miss Alabama Oregon Texas Ohio State in
11:16Georgia ahead of them like Miami was really that eye-opener saying like oh
11:20well maybe we should be buying into a little bit of but the one thing we don't
11:24know is this wasn't a Florida team number five in the country in the swamp
11:28that Miami went in there and whipped them now granted that went into the
11:32toughest schedule we might see in the history of college football just might
11:34be the Gators this year and oh yeah they might win five games or less you don't
11:39want to take anything away from Miami but as I just told you weeks one the
11:42week two things so many changeover now mine is gonna play effort or a Florida
11:46A&M this weekend it should roll them easily but it's kind of interesting as
11:50the fandom I am having here with Miami and watching with my eyes I really liked
11:54what I see because we know as well as anything if you have a quarterback that
11:58can make plays with his feet and looks cool and calm under pressure in
12:01heightened environments you got yourself something so that was a big win for
12:04Miami but we're still trying to gauge it on how high they jumped at the fan blue
12:08sports book as opposed to what maybe they really should have jumped because I
12:11don't think anybody watch that game look you know what I like Miami's win but I
12:14don't think they have what it takes to get in the college football playoff like
12:17no it looks like they probably made the college football playoff just on that
12:20Florida win from a team with Florida that's four and a half as a team total
12:24on the season you so I want to take a step back but I did like what I saw out
12:27of Florida but they certainly deserve to be the highest movers been of the week
12:31and it's not just the Canes moving up based on their result it's everything
12:37that is happening around them in their own conference Florida State the
12:41preseason favorite now 0-2 to start this year but also 0-2 against ACC
12:46competition the Knowles now 42 to 1 to win the conference they still have an
12:51opportunity to do so they can't lose again and have to play Miami in terms of
12:56getting into that ACC title game we would assume with two conference losses
13:01but there is a very very small margin of error for Florida State the Canes Donnie
13:08now the favorites to win the ACC at plus 170 Clemson's loss against Georgia was
13:13not a conference loss but there was a couple of other things that happened
13:16week one Western Carolina testing NC State the Wolfpack have a game this
13:21weekend in Charlotte a top 25 tilt against Tennessee the Vols also tied
13:27with LSU in Michigan at 35 to 1 to win a national championship Virginia Tech got
13:32beaten outright on the road in Nashville by Vanderbilt as a 13 and a half point
13:39favorite they were expected to be a dark horse contender in the ACC the
13:43conference does not look good except for Miami at this moment and that is always
13:49painting the path if Miami wins the ACC more than likely it is the automatic
13:54birth into the college football playoff is one of the five highest ranked
13:57conference champs around the country and it's going to then be more than likely
14:02an opening round by where Miami has positioned themselves to win a national
14:07championship so there's Miami's team perspective there's also the individual
14:11after 385 yards and three touchdown tosses in his Miami debut Cam Ward is
14:18now a co-favorite to win the Heisman Trophy Dylan Gabriel's numbers not bad
14:22the result not good for Oregon plus 850 for Gabriel Jackson Dart put on a
14:28performance we've got three co-favorites now atop the board DRS following only
14:33one full weekend of action all at a plus 850 number it's great and I love to
14:38see it here because you can take a look at some of these guys and make arguments
14:41for and against all the way through but the one thing Ben we always have to
14:44remind ourselves of you're not betting this as opposed to saying who's gonna
14:48win the national championship because we're not even watching the college
14:51football playoff before vote or voting there for the Heisman Trophy that's
14:55already settled and done before we get to that point in the season so when you
14:58look at Miami's schedule if it's a little bit leaky where it's like hey
15:01you know what they don't play that great of football teams and maybe have a
15:03massive downgrade on Clemson and Florida State if Cam Ward looks great all the
15:07way through who cares if he flames out and round number one in the college
15:10football playoff that's already a done deal in the Heisman Trophy has been
15:13voted on so I agree with this we are going to see teams and again individual
15:17performances and also the extra bumps spent how many times in the past you
15:21look at a Heisman Trophy winner like last year was sort of an anomaly to me
15:24but it's usually the best player on the best teams and if their team gets
15:28knocked off then what happens you take a drop down in the standings but let's
15:32just say Oregon takes a loss to Ohio State or you know Ole Miss gets beat by
15:36I don't know Alabama on their schedule they're still gonna be in it in the
15:39college football playoff and you're still gonna get those Heisman moments in
15:42meaningful football games as opposed to oh that would have been nice they had
15:44two losses he should have stepped up and played a little bit better early in the
15:47season when it might not be his fault maybe the defense was the issue in them
15:51not winning that football game this is gonna be an awesome watch for the
15:54Heisman something we haven't seen in a while because more meaningful football
15:57games are gonna be played later in the season to keep these guys involved in
16:00that Heisman race very well said the national conversation not only program
16:06but individual led deeper into November Carson Beck at a 9 to 1 number second
16:12best price entering the year so a 278 and two tuds against Clemson
16:17Jalen Milrow threw the ball nine times had more than 200 in yards and multiple
16:22touchdown tosses also ran for more than 70 on the ground against WKU and
16:27two scores Niko Iameleava a good start as Tennessee starter and a big
