00:00Jerry, do you think that it helps that you're playing Purdue on Friday night at Ross Aid
00:10in West Lafayette?
00:12I was stunned to see them play that well at Champaign-Urbana against the ranked Illini
00:20because everyone else has smacked Purdue six ways till Sunday.
00:25They get blown out, they've looked awful, but they didn't look bad at all on Saturday.
00:30I literally almost fell over with the game 50-49 they lost.
00:35It was crazy.
00:36Do you think you guys have a problem on your hands coming off of such an enormous game
00:42at home and having to go to West Lafayette to play that team that has found their confidence
00:47at the very least?
00:50Only them losing the way they did in a game against Illinois got Oregon's attention more
00:57than it would have.
00:58It got mine more.
00:59I mean, I think I was looking forward to going to Purdue with a team that's struggling, not
01:04having a very good year, may not be very good, and then all of a sudden they do that.
01:08It opens your eyes and makes you realize, okay, this is college football.
01:11Maybe it takes some guys or some teams two or three weeks to come together and get that
01:15continuity.
01:16Well, have they all of a sudden done that?
01:19Right now, Purdue has Oregon's attention, and so Oregon might have got a big win if
01:24Purdue had not played the way they did.
01:28Oregon might be headed to Purdue with a different thought process.
01:30I think they're dialed in now because of the way Purdue played.
01:34I like the way Lanning's running the program.
01:38They have to think very highly of the performance that he's put on since he's been there.
01:44He is different, Scott.
01:48I've been there 37 years, and I've had some great college coaches, football coaches come
01:52through there.
01:53Every one of them I've respected.
01:54Some of them are really good friends.
01:56Dan Lanning is different.
01:57He just has a different way of looking at everything.
02:01You watch him in practice.
02:02He sees every player.
02:03He coaches every player, not just the defense, not just the offense.
02:08I've said he's got one of those minds or brains that recalls and sees everything.
02:15He comes from Georgia.
02:17He comes from Alabama.
02:19He's had some great coaches to lift him up and teach him.
02:22He's special.
02:23I told him when he got here, I think you are the coach that will win Oregon's first national
02:28championship.
02:29I truly believe that.
02:30Wow.
02:31I can't wait to see if they can do it.
02:32I think they have some tough games left in Ann Arbor, but I don't think Michigan has
02:37a quarterback.
02:38I think the game in Camp Randall is going to be a problem for you because they found
02:43their way all of a sudden, and they look real good in Piscataway on Saturday.
02:47And then you finish with the Huskies at home.
02:50I think you handle Maryland.
02:52I think you'll get Illinois at home, and they're not going to know what hit them at Outsen.
02:57But I think you'll still beat Purdue.
02:59I don't know if it's going to be close or not.
