00:00A Residents' Association has urged Kuala Lumpur City Hall to listen to the views of
00:07Tamandesa folk about a proposed development in the area.
00:10The Kuala Lumpur Residents' Action for Sustainable Development Association said a recent meeting
00:15with DBKL about a proposed development was nowhere near a discussion.
00:19Most of the residents' queries or suggestions were only met with responses of noted, okay
00:25or silence from the meeting's chairperson, the association said.
00:28The muted response and one-way conversation gave them the impression that DBKL would
00:33respond in writing after internal deliberations, but no written reply had been forthcoming.
00:39The group criticised DBKL for not being accountable and transparent when discussing city planning
00:44with residents, despite a court ruling that the mayor has a duty to give reasons for its
00:49decisions to objectors notwithstanding the absence of a statutory provision to do so.
00:54The association said it has sent a four-page letter to DBKL outlining three key issues
00:59to address before approving future housing projects in Tamandesa.
01:03The issues are traffic and drainage systems, the lack of public facilities and insufficient
01:08public transport.
