00:00We start with a matchup in the state of Ohio today for Ohio
00:10State and they are a hefty, hefty favorite. More than six
00:13touchdowns against the Zips from Akron. It is a new era in
00:19Columbus. Ryan Day remains, enters year six at the helm
00:22fully of the Buckeyes but his former college head coach at
00:26New Hampshire and the former UCLA head coach, now the
00:30offensive coordinator at Ohio State. His name, of course, is
00:34Chip Kelly. Joe, what does the offense look like today for
00:38Ohio State who checks in not only as the big ten favorites
00:41but the number two team in the nation entering 2024. I think
00:44a very run-heavy offense today. Even though they bring in Will
00:48Howard from Kansas State, I think they're gonna look to run
00:50it. That was a weakness of Ryan Day and that offense last year
00:53with Travion Henderson. They only average 139 rushing yards
00:57per game. You have Travion Henderson coming back along
01:01with Ole Miss transfer, Quinshawn Junkins. That was an
01:03eleven hundred yard rusher. Average seven yards per rush
01:06with fifteen touchdowns on the ground. They should absolutely
01:10dominate the point of attack. They're four and all all-time
01:13against Akron. Won those games by an average margin of victory
01:16guys of thirty-one and a half points per game and since 2009,
01:21Kevin, Ohio State against Mac opponents. Fourteen and oh
01:25straight up. They've won those games by an average margin of
01:28victory of forty-one point seven points per game but oh by
01:32the way, the last four times they've played Mac opponents,
01:34the average margin of victory of six is sixty-one and a half
01:37points per game. I can't see any way Ohio State doesn't blow
01:41out Akron today. Alright, so how I'm betting this game is
01:47very simple. I don't really even need to give the necessary
01:51notes to back this up. Yeah. But I will though you won't
01:55really care about them. Travion Henderson and Quinshawn
01:58Junkins and at any time touchdown score parlay. I bet
02:00it minus 126. It's moved down to minus 120. II don't know
02:06really how it loses because if the if I can steal that
02:09breakdown from a good buddy of ours, it's they will do
02:13whatever they want to Akron and this running back room is
02:17incredible and fascinating in the age of the transfer portal.
02:21The idea that Quinshawn Junkins would go to Ohio State
02:25while Travion Henderson is not leaving and create this
02:28situation is an oddity. I don't know if he needed to get out of
02:33Ole Miss. I've heard some rumors but again, he didn't he
02:37could have easily gone to Oregon and would have been a
02:40lead back with still all the opportunities in the world but
02:44I think that we're at least for now hearing nothing but
02:47positivity. Great relationships rooting one another on and I
02:52think we're going to see Ryan Day make sure they both get
02:56into the end zone. Plus history says they will both easily get
02:59into the end zone. Last year, Akron plays Kentucky. Both
03:02lead backs get into the end zone. Two years ago, they play
03:05Michigan State. They had a running back with three
03:07touchdowns, another running back with two touchdowns and
03:09another running back with one and that same year, they played
03:12Tennessee whose top two's backs and Wright and Samson both
03:15scored twice. They both might score twice. Minus 120 for them
03:19each to score once. Yeah. Yes, please. The Buckeyes average
03:23thirty and a half points per game offensively a season ago
03:26which for most teams in college football would be a heck of a
03:29year in terms of putting up points on the scoreboard. In
03:32Columbus, it's a disaster. It was the first year since 2012
03:37that Ohio State averaged less than thirty-five points per
03:41game. Yes, it is a high standard but Chip Kelly is in
03:45to change all of that. We know a lot about Chip Kelly both in
03:48college football and in the National Football League with
03:52the Eagles and one thing that Chip Kelly does very well is
03:55mobile quarterbacks and running the football. Will Howard, the
03:58Kansas State transfer is the starting signal caller for the
04:01Buckeyes this year. I want to not even use UCLA the last
04:06couple of seasons. Top fifteen rushing offense in the country.
04:09238 yards per game which was sixth best back in 2022. I
04:13want to go back to when Chip Kelly was last in offensive
04:16coordinator in college football. That was 0708 at
04:20Oregon. Jeremiah Masoli had more than 700 yards as the
04:25quarterback for Oregon. In 2008, they had the second best
04:29rushing offense in total with more than 280 yards per game.
04:35But Garrett Blunt was there at the time. This is what Ohio
04:40State is going to look like this season and they still
04:43might have the best wide receiver room in the country.
04:46Emeka Egbuka, Cornell Tate, and maybe the best wide receiver
04:50or best true freshman in college football this year in
04:53Jeremiah Smith and Kev, you talked about this last week as
04:56we were breaking down our college football playoff
04:58predictions. It might not even matter because the Buckeyes
05:01defense is going to be one of the very best in the country
05:04this season. Ohio State enters as the second ranked team in
05:08the country, a plus 145 favorite to win the Big Ten.
