00:07First up, in central Lancashire, the music festival Radio 2 in the Park comes to Moor
00:13Park in Preston between Friday, September 6th and Sunday, September 8th. Expect three
00:19days full of amazing music, with a line-up that includes global superstars like Sing,
00:25The Pet Shop Boys, Craig David, Snow Patrol and The Sugar Babes, as well as DJ sets by
00:31some of Radio 2's most beloved presenters, including Bolton's very own Paddy McGuinness,
00:36Vernon Kay and Sarah Cox. Tickets for Saturday have already sold out, but you can get your
00:42hands on tickets for the Friday pre-party and the Sunday.
00:45Over on the Fylde Coast, the World Firework Festival returns to Blackpool on Saturday,
00:51September 7th. The event gathers together the creme de la creme of the world's firework
00:57elite and promises a mouth-watering series of shows jaw-dropping entertainment for all
01:02the family. This year's event will open on September 7th with a display by Mikadja Art
01:08in Poland, who have more than 25 years of experience of staging firework displays across
01:13Europe and Central America. The event is free, with the build-up starting from 7.30pm and
01:19the firing taking place at approximately 8.30pm.
01:24Up in Lancaster, the iconic pop band Johnny Hates Jazz are performing at the Lancaster
01:29Grand Theatre on Thursday, September 5th. The first time in 36 years, the band whose
01:35most famous hit was the 1987 single Shattered Dreams, will be embarking on a headline tour
01:41of the UK and overseas, with a brand new show called Turn Back The Clock. Surrounded by
01:47world-class musicians, tickets are still available and cost £27.50.
01:52Over in East Lancashire, the drag queen Bag of Chips brings their tour Material Girl to
01:59the Darwin Library Theatre on Saturday, September 7th. Expect outrageous blue comedy, live vocals,
02:06dazzling costumes, drunken antics and the tale of how a single mum from the black country
02:12became one of the nation's best love stars. The show is recommended for those aged 16
02:18and over, and tickets range from £27 to £39.50.
02:23Finally, just outside of Lancashire, the annual Diggers Festival returns to Marketplace in
02:29Wigan on September 7th, between 11am and 6pm. Featuring music, poetry, speeches, food and
02:36drink and stalls, the event celebrates left-wing Wigan war hero Gerard Rynstanley. You can
02:43also expect to see a celebrity there, for instance actor Maxine Peake and director Ken
02:48Loach have turned up in the past. The festival is free, but some of the events require you
02:53to book online.
02:54So there are five top things to do next week, but whatever you're up to, have a good one.
