The Lord lieutenant of the West Midlands presents a Kings award to Fortress safety, Wolverhampton.
Transcript
00:00very old. It was set up by Henry VIII, and however many Lord Lieutenants there have been
00:08from there, I have no idea. That doesn't matter specifically. But it was actually set up to
00:16coordinate the local militia to quench uprisings locally. We're not doing that today. The uprising
00:28which we're encouraging these days is innovation, and you, as I said, have demonstrated that
00:37out there. What's all of this award thing going to achieve? Well, the experience of
00:44people getting the award with other companies, and indeed the experience of you getting the
00:52Queen's Award, is that you can use this badge, which has national and international recognition,
01:02as an excellent marketing vehicle. Our experience too is that once you've won the award, all
01:11sorts of things internal to the company get, as it were, standards get raised as well,
01:18because people want to keep all of that standard. The critical thing for me is that it also
01:24benefits the staff, because our experience is that staff who work for a company that
01:30have the King's Award feel pride in that company, and show pride in the company outside of the
01:40day job too. Plus, it's a good thing to have on your CVs, which makes you as individuals
01:50more marketable, and hopefully feeling more valued within the company as well.
