Commanders are very deep at TE and S

Grant and Danny react to Dan Quinn saying TE and S are the two deepest positions for Washington.
Transcript
00:00Dan Quinn was asked what position groups he's been most impressed by at camp where he feels
00:06best.
00:07I don't know that he would say these are the best position groups on the roster, but the
00:10areas where he's been impressed and really feels good about the progress they're making
00:14are tight end and safety.
00:18And I'm not necessarily surprised because at tight end, Zach Ertz is still healthy.
00:22So you've got Ertz, who's going to be able to block and catch, Bates, who's an awesome
00:27blocker and has been really good on some of the read option stuff they've done.
00:31Ben Sennett, who looks like a weapon and looks tough to tackle.
00:34Every single catch he makes ends up with a car crash.
00:36I saw someone tweet that and I'm like, that's a great line.
00:38That's a great way to put it.
00:39It's just so true.
00:40Like there's no, he caught the ball, he got tackled soon thereafter.
00:43It's just that Cooley-esque dog pile to get him to the ground thing.
00:47And then Cole Turner is their fourth tight end with the big catch radius and the athleticism
00:51can't really help you in line as a blocker very much, I don't think, but he's certainly
00:55been more physical early in this preseason than he was last year.
00:58So I could see being excited about that group.
01:00They've got a depth project, a practice squad type guy if they choose to go that route.
01:05And Colson Yankoff has been pretty good as well.
01:08At safety, which is a way better position for this team in the secondary than corner,
01:13Jeremy Chin, Quan Martin, Derek Forrest, Jeremy Reeves, Percy Butler.
01:20And they drafted Dominic Hampton in the fifth round, who you want that guy getting off the
01:24bus first.
01:25He looks like a football player.
01:26He's had some good moments.
01:28And the steel of maybe free agency for them after the draft, one of the great stories
01:32of their camp has been this guy, Tyler Owens, straight out of the movie Twisters.
01:37If you can feel it, chase it.
01:40You got to do the Twister sign right here.
01:43Glenn Powell.
01:44But Chin, Martin, Forrest, Reeves, Butler, Hampton, Owens, that's seven guys for maybe
01:50five spots.
01:51They might keep six safeties just because the room's that deep, but they're loaded up
01:56at that position with pretty good players.
01:57I don't have stars, but Martin looks like he's going to have a decent year.
02:01They love the versatility of the Swiss army knife chin.
02:03So I understand the excitement about safety.
02:05I do too.
02:06And I try to quantify it this way.
02:08When I heard Dan Quinn's comments, how many tight ends are they keeping?
02:11Do you think four or is it three?
02:13I would guess three and maybe Turner on Peace Squad.
02:16Yeah.
02:17Two thirds of them are different than last year.
02:19That's a massive change.
02:20Zach hurts.
02:21So there you go.
02:22Right.
02:23So if you looked at last year's group versus this year's group, it's, you know, older Logan
02:25Thomas and John Bates and sort of, you know, Colton is kind of around or Marnie Rogers
02:30was hurt.
02:31So they turned over a lot of guys in that position.
02:33Same with safety.
02:34I think they're probably keeping six.
02:37Just sort of thinking against the special teams, guys, the versatility there, they've
02:40added a number of pieces to that room.
02:42You mentioned a couple of them and Jeremy Chin was one of their headliners in free agency.
02:46So there's been a lot of change at those spots.
02:48Some others, they haven't really turned over as much, but those are two of the, of the
02:52couple that they've really done some work on.
