The Harris Ownership Group has brought love back to Washington
Grant and Danny are still in the honeymoon phase with the new ownership group and are happy to be talking about football and not off-field headlines.

00:21and it's not going to be like a novelty
00:23of everyone cheering and chanting thank you

00:27And I got to thinking about that driving in, Danny,
00:30I think it's going to be a while.
00:32As long as they're not bad or there's no off the field
00:37drama, turmoil, controversy
00:40that comes from the ownership group,
00:43even if you're just normal and competitive
00:46and not that good, that is such an upgrade for people.
00:50Many of them at training camp today
00:52haven't been at camping years
00:53because they refused to do anything
00:55that supported Dan Snyder.
00:57So just the idea that I'm allowed to watch games
01:00without feeling bad about it,
01:02that I'm allowed to go to the stadium
01:03if I haven't done that in years,
01:04that I can go to a practice and buy my kid a hat
01:07or a t-shirt when I swore that off,
01:09I got my thing back because of these people
01:12buying the team from Dan Snyder.
01:13So I think that's not going to go away anytime soon.
01:17They obviously have to win to be beloved.
01:20I'm sure Josh Harris at one point with the 76ers,
01:23when he took over, everyone was very excited
01:25and they don't have a title yet.
01:27I think they've done a good job.
01:28I think the process worked.
01:29We could debate that.
01:29I happen to think going from a terrible team
01:32to a team that has a chance winning 50 games every year
01:35is a pretty nice job well done in the front office.
01:38Having said that, if years from now
01:41they're not getting deep into the playoffs,
01:44I'm quite sure people will have a different feeling
01:46or just a different reverence or lust, love for this group.
01:50But right now it's more about Dan being gone still
01:53than them being here.
01:54So not surprised at all
01:56that they're still getting the big ovation.
01:57Yeah, and I don't know when the honeymoon ends.
02:00We asked this rhetorically a couple of different times
02:02and even opened up to calls at various points
02:04over the last year plus.
02:05I know that I'm not there yet, by the way.
02:07Going through a football season
02:09where there's no Dan Snyder was delightful.
02:10I can't wait for the next one.
02:12And I don't think they're going to be
02:12particularly good this year.
02:14They have a quarterback that I'm excited about
02:15and long-term that's the most interesting thing.
02:18But I don't know when that's going to rub off.
02:20I don't know when the novelty is,
02:21okay, now let's actually start trying to build something
02:24because they've done everything that I have ever asked for
02:26for the most part, right?
02:27There's still some things
02:28that I think they're missing the boat on
02:30and I disagree with them
02:30and would tell them so if they asked,
02:33they shouldn't ask by the way,
02:34but hiring a general manager
02:36and empowering that general manager to go build his staff
02:39but have the buck stop with him.
02:42Understand that you need to reach out to fans
02:46and engage them in so many different ways.
02:47They've been outstanding in the community.
02:49They have the football structure that I want.
02:51Even if I would have gone,
02:52hey, I might not have hired that head coach.
02:53I might not have gone about changing the name this way
02:56or dropping these little hints about the stadium, whatever.
02:58Those are regular football conversations
03:01and I will not take for granted
03:02that that's what we get instead of,
03:04okay, so the Eastern District of Virginia
03:06has an investigation but so does the state of Virginia
03:08and the federal court in DC does too
03:10but that doesn't count the harassment charge
03:11in the lawsuit based on-
03:12Are you talking about the harassment case
03:14or are you talking about the-
03:15No, the first harassment case.
03:16Investigation into the money
03:17that they scammed from the season ticket holders.
03:18The third harassment case because there are so many.
03:21We're not doing that anymore.
03:22We're just doing a football thing
03:23and it's so refreshing and so nice.
