00:00But we call abuse as abuse only when it is explicit.
00:07I say explicit abuse is more apparent and is more honest because it does not seek to
00:16disguise itself.
00:18When you slap a person hard on his face, you are sending across a very loud, honest and
00:28powerful message.
00:30You are not concealing the message.
00:31You are not disguising it.
00:33You are not coding it.
00:42You are telling the person what really is going on.
00:50Far more rampant and evil and poisonous is the abuse that happens daily at workplaces,
01:02in our homes, the kind of abuse that is the bedrock of our civilization and culture.
01:11But we don't even call that abuse as abuse.
01:15When the body is offended or penetrated, we raise a big hue and cry and probably justifiably
01:22so.
01:25But when the mind is serially abused in a school, in a college, in a university, in
01:33a house, in a home, in a temple, in a mosque, in a church, in an institution, at a workplace,
01:41then we don't bat an eyelid.
01:47I'm asking you, were you abused in the past or are you being abused even today?
01:53Do you have kids?
01:54I don't know whether you have.
01:57Do you know how they are being abused in their schools?
02:00And that does not mean that somebody is fondling them in the genitals.
02:10Have you looked at their teachers?
02:13Have you studied their curricula?
02:19Have you seen what is entering their minds?
02:22Won't you want to call all that as rape?
02:26But no, we are extremely body-centered people.
02:30We agitate only when the body is offended.
02:35And when the body is offended, we'll run aghast, ah, body, body, somebody touched my body.
02:51And you have no concern for the mind.
02:58I'm not an advocate of physical rape, by the way.
03:04I'm pretty sure there would be many who would want to pounce upon this chance and declare
03:09me misogynist or whatever.
03:12They are welcome.
03:29I'll tell you what the rape of the mind is.
03:32When the mind has nonsensical purposes, that is rape of the mind.
03:37When things like stuff that happened in the childhood or teenage attracts you and dominates
03:46you, then the mind is being raped.
03:55Forgive me the cliched expression, but the mind needs a lover.
04:07And whenever the mind does not get to that lover, the mind lands in the hands of rapists.
04:22What is rape?
04:24When somebody enters a place that he should not have entered, that act is called rape.
04:36And that is why you have expressions like rape of the city.
04:42The enemy entered forcefully and plundered and that you called as the rape of the city.
04:50The entire world has entered your mind and is plundering it, destroying it, spoiling
04:56it, kindly be concerned.
05:01Your rightful purpose, your solitary purpose must be to move towards the solitary one,
05:11the lover.
05:12If you are engaged with any other kind of nonsense, this, that, this matters to me,
05:17that matters to me, he insulted me, she said something to me, this happened, that happened,
05:23then you are inflicting rape upon yourself.
05:29I know I'm sounding harsh.
05:32I'll punish myself later.
05:37Right now I need to do what I'm doing.
05:53We have become so habituated to getting, I have no other word, raped, that it does not
06:11even concern us how this whole social machinery has entered our sanctum sanctorum and is defiling
06:28it, desecrating it.
06:40You don't like it when you are defiled, but you don't bother when you are defiled.
06:46What kind of a person are you?
06:54When the ego gets hurt a little, then you start crying.
07:00But when life is getting wasted, minute by minute, it all appears normal to you.
