Transcript
00:00Through her foundation, aside from outreach and livelihood programs for her fellow Filipinos,
00:07Ace Lara thought of starting her own cleaning services business
00:13to give us or to give jobs to the disabled and those who are not able to study or finish their studies.
00:22Let's learn her business story together here in Nekosyo Tayo.
00:28Hi, I am Ace Lara.
00:30We will make sure that your house is very clean and that your children will not get sick.
00:41Before, I was working in finance in Singapore for almost two decades.
00:46Before that, I was in public relations.
00:50My husband is an engineer, so it's really far from our job.
00:57But yeah, we made it work.
00:59Even before, we already have communities and families here in the Philippines.
01:05We chose cleaning services to help people who do not have an educational background.
01:13As long as you can do the training, we slowly taught them.
01:17It took us months to train them.
01:19And then another challenge that we faced was, of course, how are we going to market it?
01:23It even got to the point where my husband and I were giving flyers to condos.
01:29We were even being chased by security guards.
01:33We started with only four trainees and employees.
01:37Now, we have at least a hundred.
01:40And we are servicing all over the Philippines.
01:43Having your own business is a good thing.
01:46You have flexibility in your time.
01:49Of course, initially, you won't be able to get what you earn right away.
01:52But you have to work hard.
01:54But if you work hard, the money comes in.
01:58With this business, it's not just the flexibility,
02:01but also the balance in life that we were really looking for.
02:06Since we have a growing family, now I have more time for my kids.
02:11We're doing everything.
02:12Also doing the outages and taking care of the foundation,
02:16all while doing the business.
02:18My husband and I built a foundation that helps different communities.
02:24In fact, during the pandemic, we have helped 50 hospitals,
02:28National Children's Hospital.
02:30We sponsored babies who were critically ill.
02:36We also have scholarship programs.
02:39We also have livelihood programs.
02:41It's always a good feeling when you're giving back.
02:46That was our dream when we were in Singapore.
02:50We said, when the time comes, we will go back to the Philippines.
02:54We want to give back and help the government and make it a better country.
03:01My number one tip if you want to start a business,
03:05don't overthink.
03:07Don't wait for the perfect time to build your business.
03:10There's no perfect time.
03:11So don't wait for an office, for a person.
03:15No, you should start.
03:17Even if it's just you, even if it's just two or three of you,
03:20start right away.
03:21And try the businesses that you won't go out of your way.
03:25There are a lot of those, especially in services.
03:27Because your goal, sometimes you can start on your own.
03:30So you don't need a lot of capital.
03:34You just need to start.
03:40To our fellow Filipinos who want to start a business,
03:42just go for it.
03:44Just start and don't give up.
03:46Because you can also use your dreams.
03:48That's why, let's go!
03:50Let's start a business!
