00:00Hello everybody, Tereno here, and welcome back to another episode of my proposed international
00:04tank tech tree series. In the last episode we looked at the armoured vehicles used by
00:09Australia that could go into the tech tree, today we're looking at the armoured vehicles
00:13used by Austria that can go into the tech tree. Now I wasn't sure whether to include
00:18Austria into the tech tree at first, because 1. there's only one or two armoured vehicles
00:23that could possibly be included, and Austria was kind of occupied by Germany in 1938,
00:32so most of these could theoretically fit into the German tech tree, like with the Czech-Slovakian
00:37tanks. However, by adding them into the international tech tree, or into the international tech
00:43tree and the German tech tree, it helps boost up the numbers of vehicles available to us,
00:49but it also opens the possibilities of alternate historical events involving Austria. I'll
00:57talk about them more at the end of the episode, but I'll quickly give a little bit of information
01:01about Austria during this time in history. When it was going through a bit of a turbulent
01:06time, from what I understand there was a few coups in Austria, and I think it ended up
01:09with a single-party dictatorship basically, and in 1938 Austria was annexed by Germany.
01:18Basically the Germans, or they saw the Austrians as the same ethnicity, or basically as the
01:22same people, said that they should be part of Germany, and took over, annexed Austria.
01:27I believe they called it the Anschluss, or Anschluss, something like that, I'm not really
01:32good with my German pronunciations. From then on it was basically part of Germany until
01:381945, then the war ended, it was occupied by the Allies, only got its independence in
01:431955. Basically explains why we've only got two armoured cars, because that was the only
01:49things they had the time to produce. After that they were part of Germany, and 1955 is
01:55outside the cut-off date by the time they develop anything, being the 60s and 70s, so
02:01that explains why there's only a few vehicles here, and why it could possibly go in the
02:05German tech tree, but again, like I said, I'm putting them in the international tech
02:08tree as well. But without further ado, let's get straight into the episode.
02:13Now the first vehicle we're looking at is the ADGC, an armoured car used by the Austrians
02:17before the annexation. Not much to say about it really, it was armed with a 20mm cannon,
02:24had 11mm of armour, various machine guns, and could do a speed of something like 43
02:29mph, so lightly armoured, lightly armoured, quite quick. Not really much else to say about
02:36it. Where would it go battle rating wise? The Panzer I, or Panzer I, the Panzer II,
02:42with a 20mm cannon is about, well it's a reserved tier, it's battle rating 1. Same with the
02:47Russian T-60, which is also used as a 20mm autocannon. So, battle rating 1 to 1.3 really,
02:55because armoured cars can also have a few other uses. 1.3 is really the max I would
03:00have it, 1.7 is probably a bit too high but I suppose it could survive there. But I really
03:06wouldn't recommend it being at that battle rating. Now I've also heard some information
03:11about a T-26 cannon being put on some of these armoured cars, with a 45mm cannon. I've decided
03:18not to include that in this tech tree, because 1. I haven't been able to find any definite
03:22evidence this happened, and 2. This probably would have happened under German control,
03:27when they were in the German army. So, it's not really Austria, so I haven't included that for
03:32those reasons. Now the next vehicle caused me a lot of confusion, I wasn't really sure whether
03:37to add it into the game. I'll link you to any pictures of it I find, but it's the ADKZ armoured
03:43car. Basically there wasn't much information on it, and all the information I could find was
03:48very contradictory. One of my books lists it as an armoured car which it implies was built in some
03:53numbers, and says it was armed with a 15mm machine gun, as well as a 7.92mm machine gun.
03:59It doesn't list the armour, it doesn't list the speed or anything. So I decided to do some more
04:07research, and from what I understand, most of the other places I looked at suggested it did
04:12have a 20mm cannon. Unfortunately there are still many contradictions. Some say one 20mm
04:19cannon and an 8mm machine gun, some say two 20mm cannons. I haven't been able to find any
04:25information about the armour or speed exactly, so I'm not sure whether this should even be added,
04:31because there doesn't seem to be much information about it. Now, like I said earlier, my book
04:36suggested it was built in some numbers, but some of the other places I've looked at suggest it was
04:40a prototype, possibly multiple prototypes built on the same chassis. So this could possibly go
04:46in the premium line-up as a rare prototype vehicle, but then you're left with only one
04:50armoured car, which sort of leaves Austria with only one vehicle that's readily accessible for
04:57everyone, barring the use of actual real money and golden eagles. So where would I put this
05:03vehicle in War Thunder? At a tier 1, really most of it depends on the armour. If it's got a 15mm
05:09machine gun, go straight to battle rating 1, it can't survive any higher than that. If it's got
05:13a 20mm cannon, it could possibly go up to 1.3. If it's got two 20mm cannons, 1.7's the very
05:21highest I'd put it, but still I'd suggest putting it at 1.3. It would be a nice vehicle to have in
05:27the game, but I just don't think there's that much information to justify having it. I'll still put
05:31it on here just in case. So now we've looked at what vehicles Austria could bring to a potential
05:37international tank tech tree, how would they fit into War Thunder events-wise? You know,
05:42realistic battles, simulated battles, alternate history events. Well the obvious one would be they
05:50stand up to the Germans in 1938 and fight back, although that could be a bit one-sided with only
05:56armoured cars, but then again the Germans would have had not many tanks themselves and only early
06:02models. I believe the Panzer III's and Panzer IV's would all be prototypes, I'm not even sure if they
06:06could have been used in battle or if they were taken to Austria during the annexation. The vast
06:12majority of tanks would be Panzer II's and Panzer I's if they're ever added into the game, so that
06:17would even things up a little bit. If Panzer III's and Panzer IV's are added in you could have the
06:22Allies join in the event to even things up. Other than that I can't really think of any other events,
06:29maybe some miscellaneous Russian events with the armoured cars under German control, but
06:36other than that I can't think of anything major. But you know, I would quite like the
06:41annexation war type event, that would be quite fun, and you know I think Austria would be a very
06:46good fit for the game, even if they have only got a few vehicles. So that's it for today's episode,
06:52being a bit shorter than usual, but with only two vehicles to look at that's not too surprising.
06:58But anyway I hope you enjoyed the episode, leave a like if you did, subscribe if you like these
07:02sorts of videos, leave feedback, could always do with more feedback. Yeah, thanks for watching,
07:08hope you enjoyed the video, and I'll see you next time!
