00:00The National Maritime Council is now studying the claim of the United Nations

00:06following the latest attack by the China Coast Guard on the ships of the Philippine Coast Guard.

00:13But despite this, the Philippines has no plan to face China's aggressiveness.

00:20And Ivan Mayrin got it right.

00:22In the latest aggressive action of the China Coast Guard, the Philippine Coast Guard's ships

00:30were hit by the most dangerous missile.

00:32But according to the government, it will not change.

00:34According to the new spokesperson of the National Maritime Council, retired Vice Admiral Alexander Lopez,

00:40the Philippines has no plan to face China's aggressive action.

00:44If you're referring to more kinetic actions,

00:46that would not be to the best interest of our country and of China and even in the region.

00:51So we're looking at this approach.

00:53We can never go wrong by using this diplomatic and peaceful approach.

00:59The council ordered the Philippine Coast Guard to look for evidence for the possible

01:03perpetration of another diplomatic protest against the attack of the China Coast Guard

01:07near Escoda Shoal yesterday.

01:09But aside from that, a few more steps are being studied,

01:12such as the perpetration of the claim of the United Nations.

01:14In this step, the Solicitor General was also made a member of the National Maritime Council.

01:20The council also claimed that they violated the China Coast Guard's own clause

01:24and the 1972 Convention on the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea.

01:29It is actually a code of conduct among seafarers.

01:33The principle behind it is to ensure safety among vessels at the high seas especially

01:42so that they will not collide.

01:45But what happened is, they went through the extreme of putting a vessel at risk.

01:57So it's ridiculous on their part.

02:00A new violation of the Coast Guard's ships took place a month after the provisional

02:05arrangement for the reliable resupply mission to Iungin Shoal.

02:08The extension of the agreement was also studied in other parts of the country's maritime domain.

02:14The United States, France, Japan, and Germany both took responsibility for the incident

02:20of the China Coast Guard and called for international law and peaceful settlement of the situation.
