00:00Philip to the rescue. Philip is a very confident little diesel boxcar.
00:14When he first came to the island of Sodor, he challenged Gordon to a race.
00:21On your marks, get set, go!
00:30And Philip still tells everyone that he won, even though Gordon didn't actually join in.
00:44One day, Philip was working in the shunting yard.
00:51Hello, Philip. How are you today?
00:55Great, thanks, Thomas. Hey, look how fast I can get to the other end of the shunting yard.
01:05What's the matter with you, James?
01:07The Fat Controller wants me to pull a goods train again.
01:11I'm such a splendid engine, Thomas. I shouldn't be pulling dirty, dusty old trucks.
01:18Oh, James, did you see how fast I was going?
01:22No, Philip, I wasn't watching.
01:25Oh. Shall I show you again then?
01:28Go on then, Philip, show us again.
01:31OK. Ready? Here I go! Wahey!
01:38Thomas liked little Philip, but not all the other engines were equally impressed.
01:45That new engine? He's such a show-off. All he ever talks about is himself.
01:51A show-off? That's funny coming from you, James.
01:56Did you see me? Did you see me? Did you see me that time, James?
02:01Yes, yes, I saw you. Don't mind him, Philip. He's just grumpy because he has to pull trucks.
02:08Oh, are those your trucks? I just shunted those. It was easy.
02:13I usually pull much more than that. I'm a very strong engine.
02:18You? Strong? Well, don't you worry.
02:23I'll be collecting quite a few more trucks before I leave. Just you wait and see.
02:29OK. But I bet it won't be more than me.
02:32See what I mean, Thomas? Always showing off.
03:03Ready, Clarabel? Here he comes.
03:07Come on, you two. Our passengers are waiting.
03:11Oh, look, Thomas.
03:15I'll show that little box cab what a really splendid engine can do.
03:24James! James!
03:28James! James! Just how many trucks are you taking?
03:38Thomas went to Knapford Station to collect his passengers.
03:45Look at me, Thomas. I'm taking even more trucks than James.
03:50But those are empty trucks, Philip.
03:54I know. Nice and light. But it's still more than James.
03:58And they do need them up at the quarry.
04:04That little box cab can be very cheeky sometimes.
04:08Yes. Reminds me of a little tank engine who wanted to see the world.
04:24It wasn't long before James began to feel sorry that he'd taken so many trucks.
04:31It was very hard to keep them moving, especially uphill.
04:55But it was even harder to control them when he was going down again.
05:01And then there was trouble.
05:32Help! Help! Help!
05:39Meanwhile, Philip had delivered his empty trucks and was making his way back to the shunting yard again.
05:47Oh! Somebody help me!
05:52Hello? Who's that? Thomas?
05:58James! What are you doing up there?
06:01Oh, it's you! I've had an accident!
06:07An accident?
06:09Don't come any closer! I think I'm going to fall! Quickly! Get help!
06:14Uh-oh!
06:17See, James? I told you I was very strong!
06:22Yes. Thank you. But I still can't get up on the tracks again.
06:28Don't worry. I'll go and get help.
06:31Oh, wait. I can't.
06:36Luckily, James's guard managed to find a cottage where he could use the phone to raise the alarm.
06:44Hello? Oh. Oh, I see. Oh, dear.
06:51And where exactly has this happened?
06:55Percy was sent to fetch Rocky so that James could be lifted back up onto the track.
07:02Oh, dear! My splendid Rocky!
07:07Oh, dear! My splendid paintwork is very scratched now!
07:13At least you didn't hit the ground!
07:16Thanks to me?
07:17Oh, that's right. Thanks to Philip.
07:20Yes. Thank you, Philip. I'm sorry I called you a show-off before.
07:26Did you? A show-off?
07:28That's funny coming from you, James.
07:31That's funny coming from you, James.
07:34Taking more trucks than you can manage is what I'd call being a show-off.
07:38I'm sorry, sir.
07:42James had to be taken away to the steamworks for repair.
07:46And Philip needed to be repaired too.
07:49But first, he wanted to tell all the engines his story.
07:55So, I raced out from under the bridge and kapow! James landed on my roof.
08:02That's how I rescued him.
08:05Oh.
08:07And when the Fat Controller came, he said James was a show-off for taking so many trucks.
08:14You certainly are a brave little engine, Philip.
08:17And strong too.
08:19Maybe. But right now, Philip, you're the one who's showing off.
08:24Oh.
08:27Yeah, not as much as James was, though.
08:31ALL LAUGH
08:33Oh, we really must find that little diesel another shed to sleep in.
