Bo Nix Shines in Preseason: Denver's Cautious Optimism

00:00All right, so Denver, there's there's natural optimism here.
00:06It's been fake optimism the last several years, as you know, Jacob, just, you know, a lot
00:10of different GMs, coaches, quarterbacks this year.
00:14It's all about Bo Nicks.
00:15I will say that in the video highlights that I've seen of Nicks legitimately has looked
00:20good in the preseason, 205 passing yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions, and certainly
00:26nobody is picking the Broncos to win.
00:28Most people feel like this is a transition slash rebuild year for them.
00:33Should Broncos fans be optimistic with preseason stats because he would be the poster boy for
00:40the preseason this year?
00:43I think you can look at his performance and say, yeah, there are certainly reasons to
00:47be encouraged.
00:48I mean, you look at how he's performed.
00:50He's been hyper accurate.
00:51He has the second best passer rating in the preseason so far, 116.7 among qualified passers.
00:58But the big thing you got to remember is it is still just the preseason.
01:02And you can just look at the quarterback ahead of him in passer rating is like a cautionary
01:05tale of how, hey, maybe performing well in the preseason doesn't mean anything.
01:09Mac Jones currently leads the league in preseason passer rating with a 170 point or 120.7 rating.
01:17And look, I was a Mac Jones guy coming out of college, but it's no secret his time with
01:22the Patriots didn't exactly work out.
01:24And I'm not saying that Bo Nix is going to bust or anything here, but the competition
01:29level is going to kick up a little bit once the regular season actually starts.
01:33So I do think there will be growing pains, but I think you've seen kind of what you're
01:37going to see a little bit from Nix.
01:39He's an experienced five-year college starter.
01:42He has good mobility and he's a very accurate quarterback at his best.
01:45So maybe the Broncos floor is a little higher than we thought it was with Nix there because
01:51they still have Cortland Sutton and Tim Patrick is there and he's a rock solid weapon when
01:55healthy.
01:56So I think if he could take advantage of those guys, they'll be in okay shape.
02:00But you know, he's still a young quarterback on a team that has some holes on it.
02:04So I wouldn't get overly excited about this season if I'm a Broncos fan.
