00:00So, Andy Hart, it feels like whatever the plan is that has been collaboratively constructed
00:10for Drake May, it feels like they're sticking to the plan, doesn't it?
00:17I don't know.
00:18I don't know what the plan was.
00:19Well, I feel like the plan was, here's Jacoby for a month or so, let the kid get his feet
00:25underneath of him, let the coaching staff get rid of their cranius rectus as well through
00:31the first four weeks, and then here we go, we can get upright and kind of rolling and
00:36going on.
00:37This is where it feels like the experience, or at least being around the experience that
00:45was the Green Bay Packers, how they handled quarterbacks, this very much feels like to
00:52me whatever plan this is, and I think it is something to the effect of bring in the
00:58kid, let him do his thing, let him get used to the NFL, we'll keep working with him, and
01:04then he'll get in there at some point this year.
01:07It feels very Elliot Wolfish, and if you're a guy like Gerard Mayo, there's not exactly
01:14the gravitas there or the offensive experience there for him to like pull a Sean Payton and
01:21be like, oh no, I'm an offensive guy, and we're going to play this guy early, and da
01:24da da, very much going along to get along in terms of the creation of the plan.
01:28The problem there is, I don't believe Elliot Wolfe or I'm still waiting for you to hit
01:35me up with one of the five things you like.
01:38I talked about Elliot Wolfe, did I not?
01:40I just talked about him glowingly.
01:41That counts.
01:42He's done a nice job.
01:43We started with the executive, so we mentioned nothing about anyone who will be standing
01:47on the turf on game day.
01:50You didn't mention a player or a coach or anyone that can affect a game on Sunday.
01:54You know what?
01:55Elliot Wolfe should ride this, because had he gotten Calvin Ridley at $30 million a year,
01:58it would have taken us eight games to realize that was a mistake, but nevertheless.
02:02I immediately asked them, whatever show I was on, because I have trouble keeping track
02:05what shows I'm on, I asked them to play Garth Brooks' Thank God for Unanswered Prayers,
02:11because I think that's what that is.
02:12If you had signed him, you would have regretted it, and I think the best thing that he ever
02:15did was not sign him, and that in the future, when they spend that money on an actual number
02:20one, on actual high-end talent-
02:22When they screw it up later, we'll say, oh, at least it's not Calvin Ridley.
02:26Nope.
02:27When they get Garrett Wilson from the Jets for $150 million, that I'll take.
02:32Stop laughing.
02:33God Almighty.
02:34Anyway, back to Elliot Wolfe, the QB plan.
02:35What's wrong with you?
02:37Has anyone ever sat a rookie quarterback, first-round pick, behind a starter?
02:45Can I steal your air quotes?
02:46Sure.
02:47As starter.
02:48Hey, we're in air quote season this year for football for this team.
02:51Starter who was as putrid as Jacoby Brissette, because the problem this summer is as simple
02:55as how bad Jacoby Brissette has looked, and look no further than that interception forcing
03:02it to Austin Hooper, that Gerard Mayo visually looked pissed on the sideline, and then audibly
03:08sounded pissed when he did his Zoom with the media the next day, right?
03:14Jacoby Brissette is making this hard on everyone with how badly he is playing, because he's
03:20supposed to be here to not make dumb mistakes, to hit the plays that are there, oh, there's
03:24a guy down there, he's 12 yards away, he's wide open, you throw the ball to him, then
03:29we won't go anywhere after that, but we'll kick a field goal, right?
03:33And we're not doing that.
03:34You're not doing that.
03:35You're turning the ball over.
03:36People tend to forget the second, the series right after he threw the pick, he tried again.
03:40He was like, had a guy on his ankle and he just chucked it up over the middle like a
03:43rookie quarterback and it didn't get picked, but it easily could have.
03:47So it's great to say we're going to sit a guy behind a veteran because the veterans
03:51ready, pro ready was Gerard Mayo's term.
03:53Pro ready.
03:54I would hope so.
03:55He's been in the league 10 years.
03:56Well, he can put his hands under center and take a snap every time.
03:59And that's pro ready, perfect.
04:01But when it's as bad as it is, that creates pressure, that creates problems.
04:06And then when you add in Drake May with a little uptick and an ooh throw and ooh, he's,
04:10he's making more throws and he's looking better rather than worse that adds to it.
04:14But the biggest problem Gerard Mayo has right now with the plan, whatever the plan is, is
04:19Jacoby Brissett and how poorly he has played.
04:21Well, uh, one in, in the moment right now, that definitely is a, is a factor.
04:27I think the bigger factor that I've, that worries me a little more is through collaboration.
04:33Oh boy.
04:35We have, uh, we've come up with the plan for this guy.
04:40And to me, it satiates in many ways, two people, Robert and Jonathan Kraft, because now Elliot
04:48Wolf can say, well, we didn't do like the other guy did.
04:52We didn't just throw the rookie in there.
04:54And we had someone here who could hold his hand a little bit, even though it has not
04:59created any competition.
05:00I've said it since the jump that both quarterbacks seem really comfortable with.
05:05Yeah.
05:06I'll be in for a little bit.
05:07And while the kid will take over and the kid didn't come in and say, damn it, I'm grabbing
05:11this thing from the jump.
05:13Everybody is just kind of gone along to get along.
05:15This is the process.
05:17This is the plan.
05:18This is how we're going to, to sort of execute it.
05:22But really, who is it for?
05:25It's for the guys who have done the, let me take back my franchise.
05:29Now they, Robert Kraft has gone because it's the, Hey, we're going to make sure to handle
05:34with care that way Mayo, who even at Owen 17 is probably damn near on fireable after
05:41this year because our KK loves him.
05:43But if you're Elliot Wolf, that's the perfect way to middle it, to protect your ass while
05:49also have this guy that you can say to your bosses, Hey, I'm telling you someday he's
05:54going to be the future type thing.
05:55Well, I've actually heard this idea posed by members of the media that not playing Drake
06:00may is the greatest job security for Elliot Wolf and Gerard may, if you sit may for the
06:08entire season and go Owen 17, whatever it is, you still have the, well, we were doing
06:13behind the scenes, what needed to be done with a VP and Ben McAdoo and the development
06:18of Drake may.
06:19And next year he'll get on the field and all the work we've put in will pay off.
06:22But there's this forward thinking approach that makes them on fireable in that situation.
06:28And I hate that idea.
06:29The idea of resting him the whole year and not putting him out there, especially after
06:33what we've seen.
06:34I think one thing that's become quite clear with Drake may he's a game day guy.
06:38He's a competitor, an athlete, he's better than, than he is when, you know, Alex van
06:44Pelt is saying, okay, I need you in this drill to, to hit the comeback, but I need your fifth
06:48step to make sure your foot is perpendicular to the sideline.
06:51And you do that.
06:52And I think you were, he just overwired and smoke starts coming out of, you put Drake
06:57may out there and say, listen, just play football.
06:59You've been pretty good at it for 22 years in your life.
07:01Keep doing it.
07:02I think he's better in that situation.
07:03Yeah.
07:04It's a, what he just said there was Jimmy Garoppolo like, okay.
07:08You mean the quarterback who went to the super bowl and was one throw away from winning the
07:11super bowl that Jimmy Garoppolo, here we go.
07:14God forbid we go back to the super bowl.
07:16Yeah.
07:17Who would want to go to the super bowl with Drake may.
07:19By now.
07:20Now the revisionist history of Andy Hart, did I say anything that was not a fact?
07:25Did he go to the super bowl?
07:26No.
07:27Was he one throw away from winning the super bowl?
07:28No, I didn't.
07:29But everybody was crapping all over the guy whenever he left here and all that it's, it's
07:32a convenient use for you after I do after crapping all over Garoppolo forever and crap
07:40on him as much as others did.
07:41And both of us did it really rooted in torturing Mike Giardi, who has an unhealthy love lust
07:47for the guy.
07:48That's true.
07:49So, but even past that, you now flip it around of the, that's like a Jared Goff took a team
07:55to a super bowl.
07:56It's bring him in or think of him.
07:59Jared Goff is another example also of this fear of breaking rookies.
08:03Jared Goff had one of the worst rookie years I've ever seen in my life.
08:06Did he break?
08:07He's been to two super bowls since he was with DAS Vunderkin, DAS Vunderkin came later
08:12with Jeff Fisher when he sucked Mr. Tight pants ended up fixing it.
08:16We need more.
08:17We need more.
08:18We need more tight pants around signaling and defensive calls every second.
08:23Sure.
08:24Sure.
08:25We're going to go jazz hands.
08:26Whoa.
08:27It's the where it's the lightning.
08:30It's the where's the pass rush.
08:31It was hover too.
08:32How come we're not holding teams to six points like last year.
08:35We got a ghost.
08:36Yeah.
08:37Robber.
08:38We have a, we have a ghost of a great defensive guy on the sideline who's now turned into
08:43a statue.
08:44No.
08:45I'm going to keep waiting for the, we have three hours left.
08:48We're starting the countdown, not to the regular season.
08:50That's 17 days.
08:51Let me ask you this.
08:52How many things you like?
08:53How many you think the head coach can come up with?
08:56I'll wait.
08:57The head coach.
08:58Not many.
08:59Elliot Wolf, based on the way he still says that the tackles are good and says the right,
09:02he would come up with a lot.
09:03Now I would.
09:04Well, he's justifying that old line that will now be in front of his rookie QB.
09:10And all I can think of is Ron Burgundy in my head.
09:12I don't believe you because I don't believe that.
09:15Elliot Wolf thinks this team is as good as he says it is publicly.
09:19What is more likely on opening day?
09:22The Patriots pull out a win or get pumped by 35.
09:26That's next.
