00:00Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, pulling up on a Big Ticket Morning Show with Jazzy
00:07McBee, none other than the lady Coco Jones.
00:10Hey, Coco.
00:11Hey.
00:12What's happening, mama?
00:13How you doing?
00:14I'm doing good.
00:15How are you?
00:16I am doing fantabulous, and it is fun watching your ascent since the first time you pulled
00:24up on me.
00:25You done picked up award after award after award, and now nominated for your first VMA.
00:32How does that feel?
00:33Man, it's so, so exciting.
00:36I mean, I really, just like you said, cannot believe how different my life is now and how
00:41much more recognition I've gotten.
00:43I'm so grateful for it.
00:46Absolutely.
00:47Nominated for a VMA and picked up a BET Award, of course, a Grammy Award, and sang your face
00:53off at the BET Awards, you hear me, during the Usher tribute.
00:56What was that like?
00:58That was so cool to be a part of.
01:00I think it was really refreshing to see BET uplift, of course, Usher, the talented, but
01:06also to give all of us R&B girls and Lotto rapper, give us all a different way of shining
01:13our light, but in a cohesive manner.
01:15That was really cool to be a part of.
01:16I mean, yeah, and you went down there and gave Usher a taste of his own medicine, as
01:21the ladies put it.
01:22You know, you can't take feet, get out the kitchen, Usher.
01:23I can't believe it.
01:24You got a brand new single coming out called Sweep It Up on Friday.
01:34We'll get back to that.
01:36You know what I'm saying?
01:37That's coming out.
01:38Actually, this is going to air on Friday, so it'll be today.
01:41Brand new song, Sweep It Up, coming out today.
01:43We'll come back to that.
01:44What is it like representing all the princesses right now?
01:48You have this Almost There song for the princess and the frong that you reimagined.
01:54How's that whole situation?
01:56Yeah, you know what?
01:58It was really, really exciting to get to work with Disney again.
02:02You know, they were the first company to really see something in me and give me that opportunity
02:07to do my thing.
02:09And I love Princess Tiana.
02:11I mean, Black princess, of course, the representation, but also her storyline is really awesome.
02:17And being able to make it modern and maybe reintroduce her in a different way or introduce
02:23her to girls who listen to me and maybe haven't listened to Princess Tiana's song is really
02:28cool to do.
02:29Yeah.
02:30I mean, it wasn't that long ago.
02:31It was only 15 years ago.
02:34Hey, you never know.
02:36You never know.
02:37But that's a big thing that I like to do is pay homage to classics, whether it's classic
02:41R&B, a classic princess, and put my spin on things.
02:45You definitely did that with the Here I Go thing.
02:48Can I get an oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh?
02:53I think you gave us all we needed for that one, my brother.
02:59You don't act like you.
03:00You know what I'm saying?
03:01They call me Tiki Williams.
03:02I'm just playing.
03:03I'm the LOL.
03:04But you've definitely been doing your thing.
03:10So I'll tell you what, everybody else, stick around.
03:13Coco Jones is here with the Big Ticket Morning Show.
03:15We'll talk about season three of Bel-Air airing right now.
03:19We'll talk about this new song and talk about everything else she got going on.
03:22But she's here right now on the People Station V 103.
03:25Big Ticket Morning Show with Jazmine McBee on the People Station V 103, ATL's number
03:30one for hip hop, R&B and throwbacks.
03:32Coco Jones is in the building today.
03:35Hey, Coco.
03:37What's up?
03:38Are you where you thought you'd be?
03:42That is a great question.
03:43It depends on what year of thought, because my brain and my expectations changed all the
03:52time.
03:53Probably, I would say my nine-year-old self would say I'm exactly where I'm supposed to
03:59be.
04:00And if not, she'd be like, you need to do more.
04:03But me, the young adult, I think I am where I'm supposed to be because I learned so much
04:08about myself through the peaks and valleys that I don't think I would have had enough
04:12of an identity had I not been through my journey.
04:15So yeah.
04:16What would you say has been the hardest part of that journey?
04:21I mean, the hardest part is loving what you do and not having the recognition, not having
04:28the attention, not having the support.
04:30I think the hardest part is not having the right team, because the right team can help
04:35you learn to pace yourself and appreciate the time that it takes to really make or break,
04:41you know what I'm saying?
04:43And also the right team can, I guess, reinforce that you're good at what you do.
04:46When it's just you by yourself, you'll be like, is this song even good?
04:49Like, am I even good, you know?
04:52So I think that's the hardest part, like knowing where you want to be, but not having the right
04:56team to help you get there.
04:59Coco Jones is our guest this morning.
05:00In case you missed it, Bel-Air season three is airing right now.
05:03Hey, Hillary.
05:04Not hey, Hillary.
05:05How has that been?
05:06How has that been?
05:07You know what?
05:08It's been so, I think this is the first job where I felt, like, comfortable, you know?
05:17I think, of course, at the beginning, when I first got the job, I was like, please don't
05:20change your mind.
05:21What the?
05:22But as I've gotten to really learn who Hillary has been for other girls and learn how my
05:30team and how my production with Bel-Air and how they see Hillary through me, I've really
05:35gotten comfortable in feeling like I deserve this job and this opportunity.
05:40And it leaves me with this feeling of freedom to be able to not hold back and to not overthink
05:45and to really give my best work.
05:47So it's been really, really exciting to feel that way in this job and in this industry.
05:51That's a rare feeling to feel comfortable.
05:54How have you been able to balance it all?
05:56Because you kind of pop in like, well, season three is out.
06:01You know what?
06:03Honestly, the strike was the first time where I was able to shift acting completely off
06:11and just do music.
06:14My whole journey as a as a artist, I've been an actress and a singer.
06:17So it's always been both things simultaneously.
06:21So, yeah, I think life helps me to balance it out.
06:24And then everything comes in seasons like you can't film a show the entire year.
06:28You know, you can't do music the entire year.
06:31There's always windows.
06:33If you had to choose one.
06:38I'm going to go with music.
06:39I'm not even going to lie to you because music is what got me even interested in acting,
06:46wanting that feeling that music gives me in different ways.
06:50Introducing me to acting.
06:51Coco Jones is our guest this morning on V103.
06:53So I'm glad that you're choosing music since you have a new song to drop off today.
06:58Explain the song.
06:59Tell me about the song and then introduce the song.
07:01Yes.
07:02Sweep it up.
07:03I'm super excited.
07:05I feel like I've gotten so much recognition and love for my voice and for those soulful,
07:11powerful songs.
07:12But there's different elements of me that I want to introduce to the world.
07:17And so Sweep it Up is a different side of me that is very me.
07:21Very talking my...
07:22Can I say it?
07:23Shit.
07:24Shit.
07:25You don't say it now.
07:26I don't know how it works.
07:27Profanity.
07:28I don't want to get bleeped out.
07:29I just won't even say it.
07:30But Sweep it Up is a different side of me.
07:32The side of me that talks her shit, who's really confident and who wants to dance and
07:37have fun and be carefree.
07:39Not everything is heartbreak and not everything is heavy.
07:43Some stuff is just light and simple.
07:46And so Sweep it Up, for me, is a different version of Coco that I'm excited for the world
07:51to hear.
07:52Well, we're about to get into it right now.
07:54Ladies and gentlemen, ATL, here's the other side of Coco.
07:57It's called Sweep it Up.
07:58We're at People Station B103.
07:59Brand new from Coco Jones, Sweep it Up is out today, available, and you should probably
08:05be banging it all day long, according to me.
08:08That's how I feel about it.
08:09B103, ATL's number one for hip hop, R&B, and throwbacks.
08:12Coco is our guest this morning.
08:14Okay, I see the other side.
08:16Okay.
08:17You know, I'm just trying to give y'all different types of music.
08:22The music for when you need to get something off your chest, you're emotional.
08:25And the music for when you just want to dance a little bit, throw it in a circle or something.
08:31In a big circle.
08:32Tell me, tell us, tell me, tell us something about Coco we really don't know.
08:43Hmm.
08:45You wouldn't know how random my thoughts are.
08:50Like, I think I put together, I'm very put together, you know, but my brain is so random.
08:56Like, I could be thinking right now, just about nature, like I'm looking at this tree
09:01out the window.
09:02Like, what type of tree is this?
09:03And how do trees even have different species?
09:06Like I would want to just know random things.
09:08That's why I just randomly Google stuff all the time.
09:11So that's probably something like, let me get into a moment where I'm really zoned out.
09:15I'm probably thinking about who was our 14th president.
09:18Okay.
09:19It can just be anywhere and anything.
09:23Okay, I like it.
09:24Randall with the thought process.
09:26Speaking of presidents, you're building this up on November.
09:30I'm really excited to educate myself and let that decide what I do.
09:34Honestly, I've had, I just want to make sure you are voting.
09:38I mean, I absolutely think it's super important to vote and also to just make sure you know
09:42what you're talking about before you just take everybody's opinions, take everything
09:46that's on the world, decide for yourself what's your truth and everything you do.
09:49I applaud that way to be about it.
09:52And I know you'll do what's right for you and what's good for the neighborhood.
09:55You understand me?
09:57But right now, sweep it up is what's good for you and good for everybody else.
10:01Thank you for just being you.
10:04You know, it's very rare that you meet genuine people around these parts.
10:09We appreciate your talent.
10:11We appreciate your drive and your efforts, and we wish you nothing but the best.
10:16And anything else on the way that we should be aware of?
10:20I mean, y'all got to stay tuned for the debut album, you know, I'm working on it and finalizing
10:26certain things.
10:27And then you got to come see me.
10:28I'm going to be on tour in your city.
10:29I know you're looking at your watch.
10:30I'm looking at my watch.
10:31We're looking at the same thing.
10:32I got a date yet, but it's on the way.
10:38And I really do appreciate everybody staying tuned and staying up with me.
10:42It's going to be worth the wait.
10:43Well, Coco, continue to win.
10:45We are here rooting for you at all times.
10:47And when you pull up in the ATL, please pull up on our show once more again.
10:52And we're going to keep sweeping it up in the meantime, while they're in the circle.
10:59Please believe it.
11:01Coco Jones is our guest.
11:02Keep winning, mama.
11:03We are outside doing the inside that same damn time with the Big Ticket Warner Show on the
11:08People's Station B103.
