00:00Department of Agriculture DA Secretary Francisco Tulaurel Jr. expounds on the
00:05agency's achievements including the Cadiwa stores that help Filipinos who
00:09are struggling to make ends meet by providing good quality and affordable
00:13agri products in the Malacanang Insider Program. Alan Francisco tells us more.
00:20The Department of Agriculture will open Cadiwa franchising to private operators
00:25and cooperatives. At Cadiwa stores, agricultural products of good quality
00:30can be bought at lower prices. In the Malacanang Insider Program, Agriculture
00:34Secretary Francisco Tulaurel Jr. stated that over 200 Cadiwa sites are
00:39operational nationwide with 17 of them operating regularly. The government also
00:44plans to standardize the operating days and hours of Cadiwa stores. They also
00:48aim to open between 800 and 1,000 Cadiwa stores in the next four years. In
00:54President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s third state of the nation address, he
00:58instructed government agencies to make Cadiwa stores permanent.
01:01Of course, it's not that easy, but we will also do Cadiwa franchising. We will allow private
01:07sector operators or cooperatives to use the Cadiwa name in selected sites as
01:12long as they abide by the rules and guidelines or policies of DA.
01:16It's important for Cadiwa to be there and sell at a reasonable price.
01:23The Agriculture Department also targets to roll out the vaccine against African
01:27Swine Fever by next Tuesday. This is part of the government's efforts to prevent
01:32the spread of ASF. Alongside this, the DA is strengthening laboratories and
01:37research to eventually produce local vaccines. There is also an indemnification
01:42program for the affected livestock sector.
01:44There is also an indemnification program where we finalize the policy for the pork.
01:50Before, if a pig had ASF, they were only given P5,000, regardless of the size of the pig.
02:00Now, we have made three classifications. There is a small, medium-sized, and a big one for sale or breeders.
02:10The DA will also establish the Agri Puhunan at Pantawid Program, a credit facility that offers low-interest loans.
02:17This aims to assist farmers with easy, quick loans for their needs.
02:21Farmers will be able to farm and maximize production. They will not have to worry about how to pay for it or how to buy it.
02:36Lastly, we cannot do the same thing over and over again.
02:44We have to do things differently, like using technology, like vegetables that have a small greenhouse and drip irrigation.
02:54The DA will also supply these to qualified beneficiaries.
03:00The Agriculture Department's irrigation projects will continue to strengthen food production in the country.
03:06Alan Francisco, from the National TV Network, for a new and better Philippines.
