00:00The working day and weekend began with swearing in his anointed guy for the National Youth
00:05Commission in his office in Malacanang, then released his message of inspiration for the
00:11country's athletic representatives in the Paris Paralympics.
00:15Later on, he officially received visiting guests of Vietnam's defense ministry, who
00:20called on him for increased bilateral relations and to find a peaceful solution to the disputes
00:26in the West Philippine Sea, as our Kenneth Paciente wraps it all up in this report.
00:34A stronger relationship between the Philippines and Vietnam, that is the main objective sought
00:39from the meeting between President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Vietnam's Minister of National
00:43Defense General Phan Van Giang in Malacanang today.
00:47According to President Marcos Jr., the visit of General Giang can be considered a significant
00:52chapter in the history between the two countries, especially since the two countries have deep
00:56bended a relationship which no longer focuses solely on diplomatic relations.
01:01Instead, defense and security were also discussed, as well as maritime cooperation and the trade,
01:06which the chief executive emphasized the country's readiness to further strengthen.
01:10He also expressed his gratitude to Vietnam for its support in the arbitral award and
01:15maintained the Philippines will continue to uphold solving maritime issues in a peaceful
01:19manner to make sure that rule of law and rules-based international order prevails.
01:24The Vietnamese official also expressed readiness to continue and strengthen the relationship
01:28between the two countries.
01:30President Marcos Jr. approved the deployment of military and police for the plebiscite
01:34to be held tomorrow in Caloocan City.
01:37Based on Memorandum Order No. 31 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, the President
01:42agreed to the Comelec's request to deputize soldiers and police for the plebiscite aimed
01:46at ratifying the division of Barangay Bagong Silang into six separate barangays.
01:51The President also led a meeting with the Private Sector Advisory Council Infrastructure
01:56Sector Group.
01:57Here, the government's steps to improve water distribution in Metro Manila were threshed
02:01out with the aim to prevent water wastage and mitigate flooding.
02:04The President reiterated that government's efforts will continue to improve the lives
02:08of Filipinos by building infrastructure that lowers electricity rates, ensures a steady
02:13supply of water, and provides quick response measures to flooding.
02:18Meanwhile, the President named former DOT Region 1 Director Jose Francisco Ortega as
02:23the new chairperson of the National Youth Commission, replacing Duterte Youth Leader
02:27Ronald Cardema, who held the position since 2018.
02:31The President believes that under the leadership of Ortega, the NYC will be a significant part
02:36of shaping the nation by encouraging Filipino youth to be useful members of the society.
