The Victorian government has been accused of prioritising profits over housing for those in need, as it sells off land considered for social housing to private developers. It comes as the government signs contracts to begin work on demolishing public housing towers in Melbourne's north, despite a class action from residents.

00:33run out of money to build the social and affordable homes they promised they would build.
00:37In the midst of a housing crisis, instead of building thousands of public homes, Victorian

01:16The government is also bulldozing ahead with plans to redevelop public high-rise housing
01:21towers in Carleton, North Melbourne and Flemington, despite ongoing legal action from residents
01:28opposed to the plan.
01:29Works will begin here in Carleton later this year.
