00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. This week starts
00:05off on a hot and humid note for most of us, but also the risk of some thunderstorms. The
00:11reason for the hot and humid weather is all down to the pressure pattern. We've got areas
00:15of low pressure out towards the west and that's helping to drag in some fairly warm and humid
00:20air from the south. As we go through the next few days, these weather fronts will usher
00:25in something a little bit fresher across the UK, but for many southern areas actually I
00:29think it's going to still remain fairly warm as we go through the course of the week.
00:34So back to the here and now. We have some thunderstorms across many parts of Northern
00:38Ireland, Scotland and Northern England. Some poor travelling conditions in places. Warnings
00:42are in force throughout the morning and early afternoon. It does turn drier and brighter
00:47across Northern Ireland as we move through the morning, with the thunderstorms clear
00:51in Scotland and Northern England later on in the day. Further south, generally dry with
00:56some sunshine, but the heat and humidity across the south east could just trigger one
01:01or two thunderstorms here, but I think for most in the south it should be a dry picture.
01:05But in the sunshine it's going to be feeling very hot, especially across central and eastern
01:10parts could see highs reaching around 34 or 35 Celsius and combined with the humidity
01:15it's going to be feeling fairly uncomfortable if you are out and about. So I think a little
01:20bit cooler further north, but still rather warm and humid really wherever you are across
01:25the UK. So into the evening, a fine end to the day across many southern parts of the
01:31country. Plenty of late sunshine. Could still see the odd thunderstorm here, but for most
01:36it will be dry. Come the night time period, most of the UK dry with some clear skies,
01:41but then later on some cloud and rain just reaching Northern Ireland and maybe the far
01:46south west of England. But despite the clear skies, it's going to be a warm night, especially
01:51across the south. Some places perhaps staying above 20 degrees as we move through the night.
01:56So fairly uncomfortable, I think, for most of us to sleep. So Tuesday morning starts
02:01off on a warm note and also a bright and sunny one for a lot of us. But the cloud and rain
02:06across the west will slowly spread its way a little bit further eastward. So come the
02:11afternoon, I think many parts of Scotland, Northern England, Wales and South West England
02:15cloudy and damp. So I think a little bit cheerier coming through for Northern Ireland, a mixture
02:19of sunny swells and scattered showers here. But to the east of this band of cloud and
02:25rain, another warm, if not hot day with plenty of sunshine. Highs maybe not as hot as Monday,
02:31but still reaching around 28 or 29 degrees. But then to the west of this cloud band, a
02:38much fresher feel with highs generally reaching the high teens or low 20s. And then this band
02:44of cloud and rain will usher in fresher conditions for most of us as we go through the rest
02:49of Tuesday and into the middle part of the week. But you can find out about the weather
02:53for the week ahead on our social media channels. But from me for now, take care and I'll see
02:58you again soon.
