00:00Meanwhile, in the context of the implementation of the United Nations Convention Against Cybercrime,
00:04Venezuela denounced before the United Nations an ongoing cybercoup against the South American nation.
00:09Despite the atmosphere of peace and civil obedience which marked these elections,
00:20the Venezuelan electoral system, which has been totally automatic and electronic since 2004,
00:28was subject to more than 30 million cyberattacks per minute.
00:32This was followed by massive attacks against government portals.
00:36These actions, which we once again denounced, are in a clear context of destabilization,
00:43which intended for there to be a blackout of information to consolidate coup d'Ă©tat against the constitutional authorities of this country.
00:55We are a victim here and therefore we have to support, to address these issues from a multilateral perspective,
01:03with cooperation, overcoming the profound asymmetries that we see here.
01:10The Venezuelan representative highlighted the importance for the international body to take action against these threats to national sovereignty.
01:20The landmark that we achieved today is a special opportunity for the UN to take real steps forward
01:28to put an end to cybercoups such as that in our country so that they can be defeated,
01:38so that our people can say as they do aloud today that they are determined to be masters of their own destiny.
