How might AI affect industry?

00:00Well, we live in a technological world, anything that can give us more ability to do things,
00:07it's got to be good because it produces benefits in terms of the fact that we can get things
00:12done quicker, or indeed we can rely on the system to make decisions for us.
00:16Artificial intelligence will undoubtedly enhance our world.
00:20The problem I see is that in every other technological revolution, it's created opportunities and
00:25indeed it's not to say that maybe so from the next revolution, but also computing power
00:31will undoubtedly be increased as a consequence.
00:34But the problem is, in this one of course, it may take jobs away, and indeed many of
00:38the low-skilled jobs, they have ceased to exist because we can get machines to do that.
00:43What we're looking at in terms of artificial intelligence is the ability of the system
00:47to take over professional jobs, so jobs which hitherto have been unaffected by revolutionary
00:53changes to computerisation and to robots and the like, they may be the next in line.
01:00It's previously been reported that many traditional taxi drivers struggle to compete with the
01:04lower fares and convenience offered by Uber and Lyft.
01:08The introduction of these services are thought to have caused a decrease in market share
01:12and revenue for taxi companies.
01:14A lot of people are scared of what AI is going to do to our industry and whether it's going
01:20to lead to negative things.
01:23But we have surveyed a large number of UK tech employers and 59% of them believe that
01:30it will lead to an increase in jobs, not a decrease in jobs.
01:34I believe that we should be embracing it.
01:37I think that so many, as I talk to clients, as I talk to candidates, it's about, ALA quite
01:46often makes jobs more simple.
01:48In my role in our industry, using AI to be able to help write emails, help write copy,
01:55help write training, and spending our time on the more complicated pieces
