00:00When people buy medicines or dietary supplements, the vast majority go for brands that they
00:08trust in order to be assured of their safety and quality.
00:12As such, this also means that there will be those who will try to make fakes of these
00:16products in order to trick potential consumers into buying them instead of the legitimate
00:23ones.
00:24Recently, it was claimed that unscrupulous parties are making fake pills that mimic those
00:29produced by a legitimate manufacturer of supplements.
00:33At a press conference held on Thursday by MCA Services and Complaints Department Head
00:38Datuk Seri Michael Chong, Tazli Marketing SDN-BHD Managing Director Datuk Dr. Ravi Pakirisamy
00:45said that scammers have been using the name of a legitimate supplement to sell fake pills.
00:51So we find the scammers use our agent's data, they create one website, something like that,
00:59and put in social media, like they are the one.
01:03But people get confused when they are using our people, fake face, like they are talking.
01:08But you go to click, you purchase the product, go to their website.
01:11So what they do, they are selling it very cheap.
01:15For example, our product, this is our product, Tazli Dantium Plus Capsule, one of our supplements.
01:20We are selling for 135, they are promoting in the social media, they say they are giving
01:25offer, only 80 ringgit, 79 ringgit, you buy one, you get one free, because the company
01:31is closing down, etc, etc, they just put some word.
01:35And when they put in that way, inside they are giving support documents, also all the
01:38information from our agents, our dealers, they are using their information, they are
01:43putting.
01:44The minute they do the purchase, they are selling this kind of product.
01:47I don't know what product is this.
01:49Still they are selling some product.
01:51Different product.
01:52We are concerned, our customers who know our product, they will alert, they know this is
01:57Tazli product, this is something wrong.
01:59But people don't know about Tazli product, we worry, they consume this product, we don't
02:02know what will happen.
02:03Totally, this one I really don't know.
02:06Because no legal, no license, not registered in Malaysia.
02:11He said that he had received calls from retail agents and customers questioning if they had
02:16changed their formulation and labelling.
02:19Dr Ravi said he believes that the scammers could be operating overseas.
02:24However, he said that the company could not verify which exact country they were from.
02:29He said they started receiving calls in July and have filed a police report.
02:34In terms of monetary losses, he estimated that around RM200,000 in sales were lost.
02:40And that's why we want the public when purchase Tazli products, please make sure you are buying
02:46from the authorised seller.
02:48That means they click the people first, try to find the contact number.
02:51If they cannot find, they can contact our HQ, our tazlimalaysia.my.
02:56They can get the number, check it out in case they are not sure.
02:59We don't want them simply immediately because of the product price cheap, they immediately
03:03don't purchase.
03:04Make sure first they are buying the genuine product.
03:07That's our main concern here.
03:10This thing happened to many companies.
03:12So we want our press conference today is to alert the company to check.
03:20If they found such thing happened, they should report immediately to this cyber 999 where
03:26I give you all the, they should report to cyber 999.
03:31Chong also said that it was possible other supplement products could have been imitated
03:36as well and urged consumers to double check with the manufacturers or to buy them from
03:42reputable pharmacies.
