00:00Welcome back everyone.
00:07It is Amelia.
00:08I hope you are fine.
00:09The Boy's showrunner Eric Kripke explains how the season 4 ending sets up season 5,
00:14which is confirmed to be the final season of the popular prime video series.
00:18The season 4 final saw Homelander gaining full control of the United States of America
00:23while the boys are in a worse position than ever before.
00:27This was the worst-case scenario that the vigilant team desperately tried and now failed
00:31to prevent from happening, with Homelander as president in all but name and hundreds
00:36of subs legally deputized to carry out martial law.
00:39While speaking with LAT Bible, Kripke discussed why he wanted season 4 to end this way and
00:45teased what it means for the series' final episodes.
00:48He shared insight into the gradual build-up to this pivotal turning point in the overarching
00:52story and how Homelander and the various members of the boys will move forward now
00:57that the status quo has been significantly changed.
01:00The only way to undo the boys' version of the apocalypse is to stop Homelander for good.
01:05If Homelander is destroyed, the hundreds of deputized subs will be leaderless and Homelander
01:10will no longer be able to control the United States government by using President Colquhoun
01:16as his puppet.
01:17As long as Homelander lives, he can now fully impose his will on others through his unparalleled
01:22superpowers and now through his own personal army and the legal system at his disposal.
01:27Ryan is still the one character with the greatest potential to stop Homelander as he is the
01:32only soup with his biological father's powers.
01:35While Homelander got everything he wanted at the end of the boys' season 4 in terms
01:40of his influential power and the status of subs, Ryan is still not the person Homelander
01:45wants him to be.
01:46While Ryan has lost control at times and there have been hints of his darker side, he is
01:51not the monster that his father is, giving him a humanity alongside his powers that may
01:56make him able to defeat Homelander.
01:58As shown when Grace Morlay confronts Ryan with this possibility, he is not ready to
02:02take on this task yet.
02:04The boys and, hopefully, former members of the Seven, Maeve and A-Train, will have to
02:09stand their ground and pave the way for Ryan until he is prepared to save the world.
02:13The boys and anyone who threatens Homelander can now be killed without consequences, which
02:18could lead to the boys' season 5 featuring more violence and destruction than ever before.
