Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says Malaysia's commitment to enhancing technical and vocational education and training (TVET) is key to empowering youth.

In his speech read by Rural and Regional Development Ministry secretary-general Datuk Muhd Khair Razman Mohamed Annuar at the book launch of "The Story of China and Malaysia" and a forum in conjunction with the 50th anniversary celebration of Malaysia-China bilateral ties on Tuesday (Aug 6), Ahmad Zahid stated that this initiative is essential for driving Malaysia's economic progress and highlighted the significance of the country’s strong collaboration with China in TVET.

01:13The event was held in conjunction with the 50th anniversary celebration of Malaysia-China
01:18Bilateral Ties.
01:19The book launch was organized by the APU China Students' Association in collaboration
01:24with the Malaysia-China Welfare Advisory Society.
01:28Also present were MCA President Datuk Seri Dr. Wee Ka Siong, MCA Secretary-General, and
01:35the Society's Advisor Datuk Chong Sin Woon, and APIIT Education Group Chief Executive
01:42Officer Datuk Parmjit Singh.
01:44Ahmad Zahid also commended APIIT Education Group's initiative to establish a joint institution
01:51with Guilin University of Technology in China, a pioneering effort to produce the next generation
01:57of tech leaders.
01:58The book, edited by former China Ambassadors to Malaysia, Dr. Huang Hui Kang and Hu Zheng
02:04Yue, chronicles the shared history, present cooperation, and future vision of Malaysia-China
02:11relations, attesting to the vibrant and dynamic relationship.
02:15In a video message, Huang described the book as a collective achievement by many friends
02:20from different walks of life in both China and Malaysia.
02:23There is an old Chinese saying, when we drink the water, we should not forget those who
02:33drank the well. This is just the reason and the purpose why we are collecting and editing
02:42the stories of China and Malaysia. The friendship between China and Malaysia has a long history
02:52and becoming stronger as time passes by.
02:58In his speech, Dr. Hui noted that the Malaysia-China friendship has flourished due to the foresight
03:04of former leaders, leading to numerous collaborative achievements and memorable moments between
03:09the two countries.
03:11Let us reaffirm our commitment to deepening our bilateral ties and fostering greater understanding
03:18between our peoples. Together we can achieve even greater heights and create a legacy of
03:25peace, prosperity, and mutual respect for future generations. Thank you and I look forward
03:32to the continued success of Malaysia-China relations.
03:36Chong also congratulated Huang and Hu on the book launch and thanked the former ambassadors
03:41for their continued contributions to the Malaysia-China friendship, even after their retirement.
