00:00As far as Waqf is concerned, our elders have dedicated their personal properties for certain charitable purposes.
00:10There is a law in the Islamic law that once a Waqf is done, it cannot be sold or bought.
00:22In our country, more than 60-70% of Waqf properties are in the form of mosques, dargahs and cemeteries.
00:31In our country, Waqf Act 1995 is already in place.
00:35In 2013, the government made certain amendments to it.
00:39So in the whole country, Waqf properties are being managed under these laws.
00:45And yes, it is necessary to remove the encroachment on some properties.
00:50Government buildings are built on certain properties.
00:54The rent is paid to the Waqf Board according to the market rate.
00:57This has been our demand for a long time.
00:59But for now, we do not think that any kind of amendment is necessary.
01:03And if the government feels that it is necessary to make an amendment for the protection of Waqf,
01:10then I feel that in any democracy, it is necessary to consult the stakeholders and make an amendment.
01:23Transparency should be in everything.
01:26And as far as the Waqf Board is concerned, we do not think that transparency is lacking anywhere.
01:33If transparency is lacking somewhere, then there is always room for improvement.
01:38And all the laws that are already in place are enough to ensure this.
01:44Therefore, we do not think that any kind of amendment is necessary in any new law or in this Waqf law.
01:52Again, my demand is that before making any kind of amendment,
01:57consult the stakeholders.
02:01All the Waqf properties already have a government record.
02:07They have a Waqf record and a revenue record.
02:09These properties are already registered.
02:13Therefore, it is not appropriate to say that they do not have a record anywhere else.
02:17As per my information, this is not appropriate.
02:21That is why I am saying that the laws that are already in place are more than enough for the management of Waqf properties.
02:29In all our cases, women are given reasonable representation.
02:34And their decisions are incorporated.
02:37In the current Waqf Act, there is already a law that any Waqf Board will have representation of women.
02:46And if you look at the Waqf Board of Uttar Pradesh, there are already two women members.
02:56Therefore, this law is already in place.
