00:02:47Today is Friyay August 2nd and football is all the way back PFT
00:02:54Hall of Fame game we're back, baby
00:02:57It's so great. It's so great to see football on TV
00:03:00So great to see the score bug so great to hear the music so great to bet the over which I'm probably gonna lose
00:03:05But I'm gonna take it anyways because it's unpatriotic to take the under on the Hall of Fame game. I'm excited
00:03:11I'm super excited. We made it guys
00:03:13Yeah, it's the minute the calendar turns to August. It's just like okay
00:03:18This is this is now a football month that we are now in football months like that. We've made it
00:03:23I do I don't want to wish away the summer, but the summer bye-bye Hank back to work
00:03:28It's football season where the game is about to kick off. So I will oh, there's a face so I will wait
00:03:36You got a couple more weeks. We don't have a couple more weeks. We had a great week
00:03:39We have grit week and then football
00:03:41PFT I will let you know the moment that I think the Bears are all the way back. So while we're back we're recording
00:03:48I know that they're back
00:03:49They can't in fact, I'm surprised that we haven't talked about this yet
00:03:52But they're back because they have an athlete at the Olympics true. They do watching Simone Biles
00:03:57Yeah, I don't see any Packers players in attendance watching Simone Biles. No, Jonathan Owens. Just hanging out watching watching Simone Biles
00:04:05Yeah for life. You're right. Oh kill booms actually wearing a full jersey
00:04:08I like that just seeing that but yeah Tyson Bajan is gonna play Hall like 18
00:04:13Well, he had to do 18
00:04:15It's Keenan Allen. What are you gonna wait, but that wasn't it's Kyle Orton. That wasn't his number in college, right?
00:04:20No, that was not his number because Keenan Allen. He's he did the right thing
00:04:24There was a report today that kill Williams told people to clean up his lockers and Imani tumor who cares was like that's that's not
00:04:31His job. I thought it was being a leader. This is we're already we're already in tear down the kale Williams territory. That's fine
00:04:38I'm gonna enjoy the Hall of Fame game. I'm gonna enjoy Tyson Bajan
00:04:42There's some you know all-time bears going into the Hall of Fame this weekend. It's gonna be great
00:04:46So it's it's it's the Hall of Fame game means absolutely nothing
00:04:50They've completely bastardized it where you don't even get the first stringers playing for a second
00:04:55But I'm not gonna let anyone yuck my yum today
00:04:58The Hall of Fame game it is technically football. That should be the slogan of it and we've made it listen
00:05:03We we did a great job pretending to get excited about the Olympics this summer
00:05:07We got into the Copa euros, which was an incredible just waste of time for us to fast-forward through the months of June and July
00:05:15But the whole reason that those sports exist is so that we can get back to the Hall of Fame game and we're there now
00:05:20I'm so thankful. I'm curious to see I don't I'm not in front of a TV right now
00:05:24I'm in Columbus, Ohio shout out pass shout out Scully's
00:05:28Scully's music diner pop punks playing tonight Friday should be a great time
00:05:32But I don't have a TV in front of me or any of the players
00:05:35Choosing to wear the Guardian caps the giant things on their home. We had Roger Goodell said we don't know yet
00:05:41We don't know yet because there's about to take the field
00:05:43But yeah, they're allowed to wear the Guardian cap during the regular season, too
00:05:46I I likened it to John Olerud it's gonna be a John Olerud situation where he were the batting helmet playing first base
00:05:54Looks like right now. I I feel like no one's gonna wear the Guardian cap, right? That's just not I don't think so
00:05:59I think Roger Goodell was like tell you what in the in the effort of player safety
00:06:04I will allow you to wear a giant helmet that makes you look like a clown
00:06:07Yeah, then no one's gonna do it and then Roger Goodell could be like, oh I gave them the option of wearing the big
00:06:13Red clown nose on their face, but they chose not to do it. I guess they don't care about their safety
00:06:17Let's do 19 games
00:06:18Yeah
00:06:19the only time I could see someone wearing a Guardian cap is like getting concussed in the game somehow passing the test and the
00:06:25Doctors being like, you know, what just put this thing on you'll be fine. Yeah. Yeah
00:06:29All right. Yeah, did you know that Hank?
00:06:31Guardian cap they can wear it. They can wear it now
00:06:34All right other NFL news before we talk about the Olympics. We did a bad job on Monday
00:06:38We had to take these on Wednesday incredible take ease shout out to all the winners
00:06:43It was a lot of fun to tape to do a little year in review
00:06:47We forgot to mention that Jordan Love got paid and he made a lot of money and Tua got paid
00:06:53He made a lot of money and now it feels like we're good with quarterbacks for a little bit
00:06:59Yeah, that whole class they got paid that's that's the class you want to be in if you're a quarterback in the NFL
00:07:06Next up is the Brock Purdy discourse, and we're still on Dak. We're still on Dak watch
00:07:10Yeah, we don't know what's gonna happen with that. But yeah, Tua got paid McDaniels is he apparently went to bat for him
00:07:17saying hey, we need to pay our quarterback great job Mike McDaniel and
00:07:22Yeah, I don't it's very weird
00:07:24I know that you have to pay Jordan love
00:07:26But he's got like eight games under his belt that he played well in and now he's one of the highest paid players in the
00:07:32League, so I guess we'll see how it shakes out. No, he was to look for you
00:07:35He deserves every dollar that he got some may say, you know paying a 32 year old that much money
00:07:42Who's only played eight games kind of crazy, but I'm not gonna judge they got their guy
00:07:46And he's got at least four or five more years left before he's in his late 30s. What were you just talking about Hank?
00:07:52Were you just misty McMichael looks like a vibe? Yeah, mr. McMichael. So yeah, Steve McMichael, obviously, he's got ALS
00:07:58So he's not there in person, but he's in the Hall of Fame deserves it Mongo
00:08:02But yeah, the they're bringing out the Hall of Famers right now PFT. So that's what we're watching on our TV. Patrick Willis is getting
00:08:10Introduced everyone's have everyone's clapping it up
00:08:13Kale Williams in practice. He was in a jersey and pads for practice reps
00:08:19I believe because now he's in a t-shirt
00:08:22Kind of like that. Okay, mr. McMichael. She's got a she got the orange
00:08:26Dress on she looks good. So in the Hall of Fame news
00:08:29I'm I'm a little bit upset at the Hall of Fame in their sculptor the guy that does the bus
00:08:34Because they didn't make Peyton Manning's forehead nearly big enough. Yeah, I feel like I feel like Peyton told them
00:08:39Hey lower the hairline a little bit take it easy on my forehead. It's not realistic
00:08:44So I've got a I've got a little bit of a problem with that. Yes, I'd agree
00:08:48All right, only other football news is there's we're starting with injuries which suck in
00:08:53Training camp injuries have started to happen. Justin Herbert is out till at least week one
00:08:59And DeAndre Hopkins is out for four to six weeks. So I fucking hate sharing training camp injuries. They make me so mad
00:09:07There's nothing worse than getting that Schefter alert when you're sitting
00:09:10minding your own business in the middle of August and you're like god damn it we didn't get to the season and
00:09:15And Deontay Foreman got airlifted on a helicopter to Roanoke for for a head injury
00:09:20But I think he's okay that that happened during a kickoff drills. They were doing a kickoff drill
00:09:25I practiced and I guess he took a shot to the head
00:09:27But I want to know if you gave Jim Harbaugh truth serum what he thinks about his quarterback being out for weeks with a foot
00:09:33injury, um, oh
00:09:36That's a good question. I think I feel like Jim Harbaugh's put well
00:09:41No, he's he's a football guy through and through
00:09:43I would say maybe the good news is that you'll see less
00:09:47Highlights of Quentin Johnson dropping balls because that was all of Twitter for an entire day. Yeah
00:09:53Yeah, he'll be okay. Justin will be fine. They're rebuilding something in in in I was about to say San Diego LA Jim Harbaugh
00:10:01He's gonna win. That's all he does. He wins everywhere. He goes
00:10:03He's gonna he's gonna figure out a way to win
00:10:05But I can't imagine him seeing his quarterback with a foot injury and being like your foots a long way from your heart son
00:10:10Just cut it off. You probably haven't do the JJ McCarthy stuff
00:10:13Just like take your shoes off and ground yourself every morning. It sounds like you're depressed. Yeah. Yeah
00:10:19Alright, so other things Olympics. We have the Olympics going on team USA
00:10:25Steve Kerr in an all-time whoops. I
00:10:28Feel bad and Jason Tatum is probably gonna quit the team started Jason Tatum
00:10:33against South Sudan
00:10:35Do you huge game for Jason? Yeah, do you think that was an overcompensation a little bit Hank?
00:10:40No, it's probably just the matchups. Oh the matchup. Yeah. Yeah the matchups
00:10:44We also had Steve Kerr shout-out Steve Kerr because I I'm now convinced. He's just doing it for us
00:10:50Jason Tatum played zero minutes in the first game Joel Embiid played zero minutes in the second game. Thank You Steve Kerr
00:10:56You're just giving us stuff to talk about in the middle of August
00:10:59we do have
00:11:00Max who
00:11:02The reports were that he got arrested in Paris. He did not get arrested in Paris
00:11:06Yeah, there was a there was a Photoshop going around that he got arrested for eating too many crepes crepes
00:11:11Just retained. Yeah, he was detained for eating too many crepes. They said they never seen a man. It's a breath
00:11:16Yeah, I've never seen a man eat so many crepes
00:11:18So they had to lock him up did not get arrested, but he did give us a video
00:11:23He's he will be back with us in flesh for the start of grit week, which starts on Sunday
00:11:28Oh Joe big big big head picture. I'm gonna get it right now
00:11:32The
00:11:34First big head Joe buck picture of the season
00:11:36I have not seen this video for max yet
00:11:38But I'm interested to see what he says because Hank spin zone and Max's spin zone for the first game
00:11:44We're entirely different on what they have to be right now. You guys just flip-flop places
00:11:48So Hank you were saying that at least Jason Tatum got minutes
00:11:52Whereas loser and bead couldn't even get in at all and then max said yeah
00:11:57Well, I'd rather he'd be rested then get in and look bad
00:12:00So, how are you guys gonna flip-flop your excuses? Let's see what max has to say. Okay. Yeah, let's see what max has to say
00:12:11All right, let's talk team USA let's talk Joelle and bead
00:12:16I'm sure all the people that are listening to this right now
00:12:19I've just heard big cat and PFT and Hank just spew a bunch of bullshit a bunch of propaganda
00:12:25Anti Joelle and bead propaganda that wants the listener to think that Joelle and bead didn't play today
00:12:31Or yesterday or whatever day this would be
00:12:35Because he's not a good player. That's not the case. It's team USA. They got the best players in the world
00:12:39They have the ability to give guys rest as far as matchups go South Sudan. Not the best matchup for Joelle and bead
00:12:46They're a small team. They would like to go run and gun Joelle and bead is a bigger player
00:12:50He's not as fast as some of the other guys
00:12:53So they're giving him an off day he's gonna be in the starting lineup against Puerto Rico
00:12:57He's still the top three player on this team. Steve Curry said that himself
00:13:01Sometimes there's matchup things and guys who don't know ball are going to try and criticize Joelle and bead
00:13:06For being a different matchup for this South Sudan team, but that's all part
00:13:10That's all part of the game plan
00:13:12Some people don't know game plan and I know that the hosts of this show are going to be slandering a man for no reason
00:13:20Just because they don't know ball sometimes about game plan. He's gonna drop 30 against Puerto Rico. Oh
00:13:25Meme so so back us up memes. We've for the last two episodes
00:13:29We've had max send you videos without us seeing it
00:13:32So we would see it for the first time as the same time as a WL's. Is that a fact? That's a fact
00:13:37okay, so
00:13:39Me thinks the lady doth protest too much because max just went in an entire rant about us
00:13:45Slandering Joel beat and we didn't say one bad thing. No, we didn't even address. We basically just said
00:13:50Oh, yeah
00:13:50He didn't play any minutes and then he just went into this whole thing about they are gonna say he's a bad player and that
00:13:56He's slow and he's fat and it's a it's all matchup. We didn't say anything PFT. I
00:14:01Didn't even think about Joel and be being fat
00:14:03But max makes a pretty good point that we should probably talk about that
00:14:06How does shape I actually grew them for once like the matchup thing is a valid point?
00:14:10My only takeaway from that was just Joel Embiid is slow
00:14:13Yeah, Joel Embiid is slow and speed is actually important in when you're playing sports
00:14:18Yeah, and listen, I'll Sudan players are faster than NBA players. Yes was the guy there
00:14:23I think Steve Curtis be a good coach. He knows that Joel Embiid can't match up against South Sudan
00:14:28Well, yeah, so they're they're a dynamic group of playmakers over there. So, you know, maybe we'll get him back in against Puerto Rico
00:14:36I don't know how those matchups look though. Yeah
00:14:38We'll have to we'll have to dive into the matchups. Hopefully they have a big fat guy that Joel Embiid can can play against
00:14:44I'm gonna wait for AI al Michaels. Tell me what to think. I've been watching his recaps in the morning. It is very creepy
00:14:50It's so weird. It's so weird. We also had the the women's our Olympic or sorry our
00:14:58Gymnastics team dominated again Simone Biles is the goat. She's incredible
00:15:02I think KD even said that she thinks
00:15:05He thinks that Simone Biles could take an alley-oop like she don't call it on a 10-foot rim
00:15:10But yeah, she like we just dominate that and I think we're back. We're back in a good spot in the metal count
00:15:17Yeah, we're good. We're dominating the silvers. We are the absolute kings of silver right now
00:15:22Yeah, so I don't know if we're dominating the golds, but yeah the gymnastics team awesome the men's gymnastics
00:15:28They got a bronze and they were really happy about that. So I'm happy for the guy that looks like Robbie Fox
00:15:33Yeah, good for him got engaged in one of bronze. Yeah. No the China still is leading us in gold
00:15:40We got it. We got to get that also we haven't gotten to the track and field yet
00:15:43I feel like every day I wake up China is dominating like air pistols and
00:15:49What else they've been dominating? I don't even know. I think it's disgusting that the United States can't win at shooting
00:15:56Yeah, that's our sport. It should be it should be something we excel at did you also see?
00:16:01Well first new kickoff first new kickoff going right now PFT it's crazy. What have they done to our game?
00:16:07Sam Schwartz seen has ruined football
00:16:10For all of us. I actually think this will be a good rule
00:16:13Once we once we once we get used to it, there's probably gonna be more kickoffs return and it's gonna be more exciting
00:16:20So I'm excited for yeah when the XFL did it they used to have the flags that the refs would raise, right?
00:16:25And I don't like introducing like a new prop for the refs to be using but they got rid of those
00:16:29So I think the kickoffs gonna be good just so that we can watch dumb coaches screwed up and the Bears just covered the kickoff
00:16:35Perfectly, so want to know on kickoffs for the Bears?
00:16:38We looked awesome got him down at the 26, which I think if you kick it out of the landing zone, where does it go?
00:16:44Go somewhere
00:16:4635 we should probably rush up on the 30. Yeah, I think it's at 30
00:16:50I think they change it at 30
00:16:51But yeah, when we do our whose team is this guy on now update? We should also do a rules update
00:16:57Let's just remind everyone. It's still preseason for us. So I use the preseason to get myself warmed up for the season
00:17:03I'm not gonna I'm not gonna let myself be belittled by any new rules or any new people
00:17:08I'm the preseason is is there for a reason we all need our reps. We're getting some right now
00:17:14Feels good. All right, it's great. So the only so Katie Ledecky won a bunch
00:17:20Our gymnastics team won everything and then did you guys see the craziest there was I think it was the ping-pong final
00:17:28It was a older brother verse younger brother, which was nuts that that's wild. Yeah, how what do you mean?
00:17:35They were on the scene. They're in the same country
00:17:37Like there's multiple
00:17:39Participants. All right. I got a fire to fact-check this talk talk amongst yourself. Why fact-check this so you're saying that there's a bracket
00:17:45basically multiple
00:17:47Olympics or is this like, uh, yes, what was the 30 for 30?
00:17:52Okay, two basketball players
00:17:55This is the two Escobars. No, no, no
00:17:59Eastern European Alexis and Felix LeBron
00:18:03France's
00:18:05Olympic brothers
00:18:06So they played it might not have been for the gold medal match, but they played and I saw the younger brother lost brutal
00:18:12He was crying as the older brother was celebrating
00:18:15That's one where you got a root for the younger brother, right because it's like the heart the Harbaugh Super Bowl
00:18:20Yeah
00:18:20The older brother stood up on the table and like cheered and was going nuts and the younger brother was just crying into his shirt
00:18:27But I thought that was pretty cool. The brothers are playing like if they should have played in their mom's basement
00:18:32That's the only that was my only critique if the younger brother wins
00:18:36Then that is that's devastating for the older brother at least this way
00:18:40It's the older brother
00:18:41Keeps up because I'm sure that when there were kids the older brother would win every single time they played, right?
00:18:46Although is ping-pong one of those sports that like age matters probably not right? I
00:18:52Don't think so. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, there's a lot of running table tennis. That's what we got to call it table tennis
00:18:58I'm not calling it table tennis
00:19:00Okay, any other Olympic
00:19:04Story Scottie Scheffler had a weird quote
00:19:07Where he's just like we're all no one's gonna remember us anyway when they were asking about his Olympic legacy
00:19:11He's just said that no one's gonna remember us. Anyway, it's got a true when it comes to golf in the Olympics. Yeah. Yeah
00:19:18Do we name one golf Olympic moment ever Xander wearing white sneakers?
00:19:25There's a moment
00:19:26Yeah electric who could forget? Yeah. Yeah. Do we want to talk about boxers and what gender they were assigned at birth?
00:19:32I don't really care
00:19:34Too but we can if you want to I just want to make you uncomfortable
00:19:38This is why this is why we want to talk about it. Go on. I just knew that I just knew that you didn't
00:19:44I what do you why the original do you you should why the original I'm trying to the original I got
00:19:53Publicly because I don't know
00:19:55Enough anything. Yeah, no, I'm just saying this is why the original Olympics had them everyone competing completely nude
00:20:01back in ancient Greece
00:20:03That's that's when sports were sports. But what's your take?
00:20:07My take is that I don't know shit about what's going on right now
00:20:10So I'm just gonna sit back and not pretend to care about women's boxing at the Olympics. Yeah, I agree
00:20:16I don't I asked for someone to explain to me like a five-year-old and I had like 400 replies in the first two minutes and
00:20:21Every single reply was different facts. I was like, well, this isn't gonna work. I'm out. I'm out on this for my discourse
00:20:29For my limited reading it comes down to a big beef between the IOC and then the IBF which is a boxing
00:20:36Governing body that has actual beef with the people on the IOC
00:20:40It's like a personal dispute as to who ruled her to be
00:20:45Having like too many either it was chromosomes or testosterone
00:20:50To compete that was the IBF that said that but they won't say what the test was now
00:20:54The IOC says they're full of shit. It's just where we stumbled onto a turf war between two sports
00:21:00governing bodies
00:21:01Yeah, I I like to keep sports fun. And when I saw this pop-up, I was like, well this doesn't seem fun at all and
00:21:08I'm out
00:21:09I'm gonna watch the Olympics to
00:21:11Watch sports that I never watch and kind of care about the u.s. Winning and if they don't win
00:21:16I will say the Olympics are dumb. That's how I consume the Olympics
00:21:20Nothing. I want to hear Hank's take. Oh, go ahead Hank
00:21:25Do do you actually want to hear my take that I'd
00:21:29sure
00:21:30No, I know. I agree with the sports fun. This is obviously a sensitive subject for a lot of people. I
00:21:35from my limited reading
00:21:38She was born a female and identifies a female just because she has some extra testosterone doesn't mean she shouldn't be
00:21:45Fighting other females and she's like nine and six or whatever professional. Yes
00:21:50Yeah, there was actually there like there's that when the stories happen in sports
00:21:53Like I think it's like swimming or track and field with people that were born male and transition
00:21:58That's way different and that's when this story came across
00:22:02It read like that where it was like someone that was a man transitioned and now fighting in women's boxing
00:22:07But it's like that's not really the case. Yeah, right
00:22:09Yeah, which I think we can all agree that if there's a man that is competing punching women in the face, that's bad
00:22:15That's very but it's but it's a and also Algeria doesn't seem like the most friendly country towards gender reassignment surgery
00:22:22so it's probably a case where she was born as a female always identified as a female and then
00:22:28There was a ruling by the IBF that she had something extra that we don't know what it was
00:22:34the the best the best thing that came out of this though was
00:22:38This this Twitter exchange. I'll read to you guys this woman Amy Broadhurst
00:22:43Wrote have a lot of people texting me over Iman Khilaf
00:22:48Personally, I don't think she has done anything to cheat
00:22:50I think it's the way she was born and that's out of her control the fact that she has been beating
00:22:55Beaten by nine females before says it all then someone named Ben Hyde replied
00:23:00What would your reaction have been if you were supposed to fight Khilaf Amy?
00:23:04I have great respect for your boxing legacy, but you've missed the mark here
00:23:08Agreed the way you're born is out of your control, but it's a clear advantage and shouldn't be allowed
00:23:12And then someone replied Amy Broadhurst did fight Iman Khilaf in the 2022 World Championship final she won
00:23:20So like the people just spouting off left and right about shit
00:23:24they don't know about this guy tried to correct someone who actually fought this woman and then was like
00:23:31What what are we doing here? So yeah, the whole thing is
00:23:34Yeah, it's it's it's been quite quite the day on online watching the discourse fly back and forth
00:23:40It's a disgrace to the ancient Greeks who embraced very strict traditional gender and sexuality rules, correct as we all know, correct
00:23:48Oh, I had one last Scotty Shepherd thing for you guys
00:23:52He was asked in a interview at the Olympics
00:23:57Do you ever go and just look at all your trophies?
00:24:01Would it give you a big head and he wrote he responded? Yeah, probably would I don't think I've ever done that
00:24:06I think one time this year I took like a trophy
00:24:09I took my green jacket in the plaid jacket
00:24:11and I think I held like the players trophy in one hand and I had another trophy the other hand and walked in the
00:24:17Living room and said sup mare to his wife. That's that's the extent of Scotty Sheffler
00:24:22Getting a big head just wearing his like all the things he's won and just saying what's up to his wife
00:24:27In the probably trying to fuck. Yeah, and probably trying to fuck which like yeah good for you, dude
00:24:33You put on the green jacket and be like what's up you feeling it the green wear the green jacket and only the green jacket
00:24:39Yeah, yeah
00:24:40Okay, anything else Mike Trout's out for the year. Good job. PFT. I'm a raft and I'm aware dingers only
00:24:46Well, that means that means I get a sub for Mike Trout. Yes, because does the
00:24:50IR slash pedophilia list. Yes, so I will be making my choice. I believe tomorrow about that
00:24:56okay, so you have the strategy of drafting half your team already injured is
00:25:00You're not in last I did unintentionally because Mike Trout had just gotten hurt when I drafted him. Yeah, he's been hurt for a while. I
00:25:09Yeah, Mike Trout. I forgot about I'll be honest
00:25:12But there was another guy that was hurt
00:25:14Yeah, I think John Carly. Yeah. All right, the Bears just gave up an opening drive. That's not good. They're they suck seasons over
00:25:22Anything else for Olympics Huey? Did you have any Olympic stories?
00:25:26No, basketball is pretty quiet our three-on-three team sucks
00:25:32They're the worst they're Owen three should get chase Buttinger in there. Yeah, it was really good volleyball player
00:25:39Really good volleyball player. We got Jimmer playing Jimmer was hurt today. We lost the Lithuania. We're Owen three
00:25:45We would have beaten with Jimmer. Yeah, but we also maybe not because we lost the first two games of Jimmer
00:25:51So we just have a Jimmer matches up well against Lithuania. Yeah, we just suck
00:25:55Okay, let's get to our Mount Rushmore. Very fun Mount Rushmore. I actually dubbed it in the ad coming up my favorite Mount Rushmore

00:28:16Okay, last Mount Rushmore before we head out for grit week
00:28:22Max you were up first
00:28:25Yep, and we're doing a very open-ended one should be a fun one
00:28:30Dumb things we used to think
00:28:32So let's not put it on you. It doesn't have to be as a kid
00:28:35It can just be because like Hank probably has one from like last week
00:28:38He didn't know humans were animals dumb things you used to think
00:28:43meatballs meatballs
00:28:46Meatballs are the only food
00:28:48Okay, I was I was thinking of this more as a I have mostly as a kid
00:28:51But I'm just saying if you have something he's like, oh, I I thought this when I was 20
00:28:56I don't think we should take it away. Yeah, I have almost all kids stuff
00:29:01Yeah, no
00:29:05No, I
00:29:08Won't hear the stuff that Hank just recently. Yeah, we isn't true Hank you do you can
00:29:13Hank put it put a star next to that one and when you say it
00:29:17Let us know that it was the one that literally just popped in your head. Okay, okay. Love that
00:29:23So I was thinking as a kid
00:29:25So the first thing is the easiest one that everyone thought of is that Santa Claus was real. Mm-hmm
00:29:29Okay, spoiler if you're riding in your child, I'm sorry that they're crying
00:29:34Do you guys remember what grade you're in when you spoiler? Yes, I remember
00:29:38Specifically the moment because I was the youngest were you eating me?
00:29:45I had two older brothers and like I didn't like a like an uncle that had white hair and kind of looked like Santa Claus. So
00:29:53we we would like look out our window some years and see and like see him go around the
00:29:58Like in the backyard to like sneak in and put the presents under the under the tree
00:30:03So we would always like try and catch Santa Claus and then one year I turned to my brother
00:30:07I shared a room with who's like five years older than me and I was like, I was like, hey
00:30:12Do you think we're gonna see Santa tonight? He's like dude Santa's uncle Charlie
00:30:16And it was like the worst moment of my entire life
00:30:20Meatballs, you're like who was that snowballs out all those years. I we were actually throwing meatballs. Yeah, those are ice
00:30:27Max's Max's biography is just yeah. Yeah, his life's meatballs. All right good pick
00:30:32I'm so excited for whatever Hank's got in his brain right now me too. All right, so I'm up
00:30:37Yep, okay. Uh, I will go with that. If you dug deep enough, you could reach China. Yep
00:30:42I honestly thought that I could every kid and I I was probably that wrong
00:30:49Yeah, it's very wrong because you can't reach like you would melt before you reach the center of the earth
00:30:53Also, we have not even come close to digging to the center of the earth. Yeah, so I looked this up a couple months ago
00:30:58It's actually embarrassing. Yeah, how shallow the deepest hole ever dug is like seven and a half miles. It's it's ridiculous
00:31:05We need to it's Jurassic Park. Let's do that
00:31:08Let's rebuild Titanic to Titanic too, and then let's figure out a fucking way to dig more than just seven miles
00:31:14And yeah, that's the earth. Yeah, what if it's a fruity Center? It's a we don't know for a big gusher
00:31:20What if we're filled with cheese?
00:31:22Will be cool. We'll be cool. Okay, good one. These are all very good that I had that as well
00:31:28And this one I feel like is very relatable that everyone probably had. I don't know if it's specific to us
00:31:35Sport but I was I thought I was going to the NBA. Yeah, that was that was and I I was I I
00:31:41Thought that if I just you know was in my driveway shooting hoops someone would come by and be like damn that kid
00:31:49Yeah, sign him up. I was like that with baseball too. Yeah, I that was that was my career
00:31:53I was gonna be baseball or yeah, I was like, I'll be a baseball player. If not, I'll just do basketball
00:31:57I had a really depressing conversation with Titus the other day because it dawned on me that
00:32:02Like all of us sitting in this room max maybe because he played college ball. Yeah, mine was much later
00:32:07Yeah later like my my realization
00:32:10I wasn't going to the NBA was like maybe 10 years old like when you look around you're like
00:32:14Oh, I'm the fifth best player on my team and there's how many teams I asked Titus that and he's like, yeah
00:32:20Actually, I really struggled with that because I thought I was going the NBA till I was like a senior in high school
00:32:26Yeah
00:32:26And like that's I was like damn that actually probably really really suck and there's probably a piece of him that going into college was
00:32:32Like well, maybe yeah, if I work hard enough, yeah, but like me Mike Conley Greg Oden
00:32:36Yeah, we're all gonna be in the NBA. He said he was 6-4 when he was in eighth grade
00:32:39And he never grew again. So it's like it kind of fucked him, but I
00:32:43Yeah, like what normal kids? I think they all have the same thing where you know, they're eight nine ten. They're like damn
00:32:49I'm doing it. I'm gonna go to the league and then you have that moment. We're like, no. No, I'm not
00:32:54Yeah, that hurts hurts a lot, but I thought that for a while as all we did we all did I
00:33:01Will go this is this was the recent one. This is a recent one. All right kissing equals sex. Oh
00:33:06Okay, so you just found that out?
00:33:08That's not the recent one, but that I thought for a long time
00:33:12Babies were made a great. Yeah. Yeah, great one. I would they say sexual other kissing that's I was like, oh, they're naked kissing
00:33:17Yeah, yeah, cuz you would watch a movie and they would whatever. Yes. Yes a French kissed. That's a good one
00:33:24and
00:33:25Then I will go with if you fell through a cloud you'd come out soaking wet. Mmm, that's not true. No
00:33:33Yeah, I don't I don't know. I feel like that kick that picture and count like what if it's raining I
00:33:39feel like
00:33:41It's not true. Like I always thought that if you fell through a cloud the same then all the water would just fall same
00:33:47Oh, you thought that you would pierce the cloud and in the cloud a water balloon. Okay. Yeah, basically falling
00:33:53Water balloon, that's dumb pop. Yeah
00:33:56But I think that I still think that's true. No, cuz if you fly through clouds the plane doesn't come out wet
00:34:01Are you sure? Yeah sometimes right?
00:34:04Yes, I'm only if you're underneath well, if you run if you run through fog like really dense fog you get moist, right?
00:34:12My I was thinking I was like my thing was the water
00:34:15I just thought of another one
00:34:18Skydiving and in fall and fell through a cloud that it would just pop the entire cloud would expand then water would just fall everywhere
00:34:24Yeah, I just literally just triggered that
00:34:29Okay, yeah, so I'll go with this next pick cuz I your your thought can I specify that if you fell through a cloud that
00:34:35It would pop. Yeah, yeah, yeah make it make more sense. Yeah
00:34:39Because I I had to double-check cuz I I guess maybe I still thought a small part of me
00:34:45Thought this was real till right this second
00:34:48But if you're an elevator and it falls and you jump at the end you survive you're gonna be safe. Yeah
00:34:54That's not that's that's true. No, I just looked it up. It's not true. That's what I'm saying
00:35:00I thought that as a kid, I haven't thought about it for a long time
00:35:02But I was like I got a double check because wait, is it true?
00:35:06It's not it's not you would die. Yeah, r.i.p. Great-grandfather. That's my pick. I'd well he was underneath. Oh, yeah
00:35:13Yeah
00:35:15What was he doing what was he doing at the bottom that elevator fuck was he doing under that elevator?
00:35:18Yeah one place you don't want to be I definitely thought that maybe a little bit of thought that till now
00:35:24Just kind of like I still think you're wrong about the cloud thing
00:35:28But this is good. We're learning
00:35:30Learning today. So that's my next pick. Okay
00:35:34This is tough. There's a lot of good ones on the board right now. I used to be all yeah, very very dumb
00:35:39These are very personal. Yeah, they're very
00:35:43Okay, I
00:35:45Used to think that when you'd watch a rerun of a show on TV
00:35:49That it was an all-new taping of the exact same school. That's good
00:35:54So I thought I thought that like I'd be watching saved by the bell and then my live music. Yeah. Yeah, exactly
00:36:00They're doing the same song, but they're just taping it again for us. Yeah, I'm casting live. Very dumb. Yeah, very dumb. Very dumb
00:36:07Yeah, September
00:36:091997 Fresh Prince's. Yeah, the best one. Very yeah, very good. Okay, what's your favorite version of the September?
00:36:151997 Fresh Prince. Yeah
00:36:17max
00:36:18If you eat a watermelon seed, it'll grow in your stomach. Yeah. Uh-huh. Yeah
00:36:23That one again, that's definitely in the list of I don't know. I'm not a hundred percent sure on that one
00:36:29Yep, and I I like remember this as a kid one time
00:36:35Searching for this that there was a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Yeah. Yeah, so you're looking for it
00:36:40Yeah, ask your parents to drive towards the end of the rainbow. Yeah. Yeah, that's good. That's good. Okay
00:36:47PFT back to you
00:36:50I'm gonna say I used to think that they sold
00:36:55Marijuana and cocaine at drugstores. Mm-hmm. So we'd be driving past you were never a drug guy
00:37:01No, we'd be driving past the store and I'd be like dad. Why why do they sell drugs at that store?
00:37:07Shouldn't they be arrested and be like no, it's a it's a different kind of drugstore. Yeah, it's legal drugs
00:37:12Yeah, create them. It's the drugs that yeah, that will be illegal soon. That's what they sell there. Yeah
00:37:17Okay, good pick. I have one that's a little bit older than just kid. It's more teenage. But uh
00:37:24Again, I think it's relatable. I think everyone had this moment in their life
00:37:28I
00:37:29Used to think that my parents had no idea when I was high or drunk and they always knew
00:37:34Always fucking new like you remember just coming home and being like I I played that off perfectly
00:37:39Yeah
00:37:40No chances you played off perfectly because like being older and see and being sober around drunk people you always know when someone's drunk
00:37:48Yeah
00:37:48I thought that my mom had no idea that I threw up three times in my room one night and she came in the next
00:37:53Day, and she was talking about how it smelled like cologne. Yeah, and I was like I written. Yep
00:37:57She bought it. She's like she thinks it's the cologne reeking like weed and being like
00:38:02Damn, I'm suave. They had no idea. Mm-hmm get some old spice on this thing good
00:38:09Hang, I'm sure you had it or did you do you still think your parents didn't know? Oh, no, they knew
00:38:15Because I mean credit like I don't know how you how it was like my parents were at least as long as I was home
00:38:19Safe, they weren't gonna like be like you're drunk. Yeah in my head. I was like, I'm good
00:38:24You know, I just got in trouble so many times that it got to a point where as long as I wasn't super fucked up
00:38:29Yeah, I'd be like I got away. Yeah, I'm not talking about like there's been super fucked up
00:38:33I'm talking about like that middle zone where it's like you're fucked up and you think that you're pulling it off
00:38:37Yeah, you're never what you learn is that your parents just don't want to deal with it. Yeah, they just want you to get home
00:38:42See, yeah, that's it. You're home. I don't want to make a thing
00:38:44It was as long as I never got caught in the act right caught like throwing up a couple times
00:38:47That was always a big problem. I always try and make an excuse and say it was somebody else
00:38:54Someone else I threw up in my room and I like took a shower at like four o'clock in the morning and my dad came
00:38:59Up and was like, why is her puke in your room? And I was like, it wasn't me
00:39:03in there someone else's beer one time my parents found a
00:39:07Empty case of natural light in my room and I just stared at it
00:39:11And I tried to think of a lie and after about like five seconds. I just looked at most I got I got nothing
00:39:17Yeah, yeah, you just I just blame it on a friend and they'd be like, why are you carrying these beers?
00:39:21Oh, it's someone else's what what?
00:39:24And then he's digging your head like I got fucking Wow. What it what it's what I'm like
00:39:30What's the guy's name and catch me if you can Frank Abbott? Yeah, I'm Frank. That's what Michael Irvin did with the cops
00:39:36He was like, this isn't it's not my pipe
00:39:38I'm I'm holding it for a friend who recently asked me to help him quit smoking. Yes, so I took it from him
00:39:44Yeah, then I put it under my seat
00:39:45I got called with a fan in the kitchen one time
00:39:48I was smoking weed and I like cough and I was like
00:39:51I think if I fan out the air where I just coughed out the window
00:39:55It'll be it'll be fine. And then my parents were like, why is there a fan in the kitchen?
00:39:59And then I just was so I just looked at them. I was like
00:40:02the worst what I got was I got caught with the I don't know if you guys used to do this back of the day the
00:40:09paper towel roll
00:40:11Sploof. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. No, no. No. No, I'm not even talking about you
00:40:15Are you talking about like the dryer dryer sheets? Yeah, I'm talking about making a bowl out of the paper towel
00:40:20Do the top little tinfoil punch the holes into the tinfoil and then you put your hand over it you smoke it and then you
00:40:27Let your hand off
00:40:29They just found a huge paper towel roll with a hole on top with with tinfoil and like what they have any idea
00:40:36It's like no, it's a science project or something. I was an Apple guy. You're not a guy
00:40:41We used to go to the store as a can you can soda can like crunch it up?
00:40:46Yeah, we have to go to the stores big we would buy like a 20 ounce plastic bottle
00:40:52some big ballpoint pens and then
00:40:55Nestle crunch bar because it had tinfoil. Yeah, and so we were like MacGyver
00:40:59Yeah, like you just you put me in a store and I'll figure out how to make a ball
00:41:02He was pop-tarts. Someone told me that Bible Bible paper. You could smoke
00:41:08That's crazy
00:41:09We should make a gravity ball. No, that's the worst feeling. No old school. Oh, yeah after a
00:41:16There's no worse feeling than being so high after grab and there's nothing you could do about
00:41:22Panic it's panic. We could turn the bed of my El Camino into a giant gravity. But I'm down be sick a bathtub gravity ball
00:41:29That's what it was
00:41:32We fill up the El Camino with water like one of those Philly dumpsters that they hang out in and then we get like a giant
00:41:38Recycling bin and we put a hole in the top of it. I love it. Press it down biggest hits out. I love it
00:41:43I used to like hide obviously like vodka and water bottles and that's how we could kind of like, you know
00:41:47Bring it in in and out in and out of the house and one time my mom replaced
00:41:52the booze with like
00:41:54Laundry detergent or like bubble something like dish soap like dish open
00:41:59I drank the whole thing and I legit burped a bubble and was like, I think
00:42:02Got you. Yeah, she got me bad. Yeah, and then the other worst one
00:42:06This was this was this is by far the worst of like I thought I got away with it
00:42:10I would have this, you know, the the
00:42:14sploof with the dryer sheets in it in my bathroom that didn't have windows and
00:42:19I did this one time because I thought it would work
00:42:21Turn the shower all the way into hot towel door and then there was a ventilator
00:42:27So I was like all the smoke's going up there
00:42:28I'll smoke like a little a little bowl before blowing the thing and then I'll be in the shower for like 20 minutes
00:42:35So by the time I'm out the the you know, condensation has washed it out
00:42:40That vent went straight to my basement
00:42:42So I walked out into like my dining room. My parents were just like
00:42:47What were you doing? I was like, oh, what's up guys? They're like
00:42:50It we know that vent goes to the basement
00:43:01I think it's I think an AWL sent me this one. So shout out that guy the the Mount Rushmore topic
00:43:06I can't remember. I'm pretty sure so I apologize that person. Shout out you. You know who you are
00:43:11All right, so you have two picks. All right, I will go with girls pee from their butt. Yep. Okay, and
00:43:18this was the recent one that
00:43:21Blind drive signs meant that a blind person lived there
00:43:25Yeah, I learned that in my 20s
00:43:28Wait, where it says like blind blind drive. What about blind? Oh, yeah, that's not I'm thinking of mine
00:43:34Pedestrian but blind pedestrian crossing means that there is a blind person but blind drive means that you just can't see the driveway
00:43:41Yeah, I always thought that meant that a blind person was there and they drive there
00:43:46All right. I have one more
00:43:49This one's very dominant. It comes from something you're told as a kid then I just assumed
00:43:54I thought my
00:43:57Balls, my testicles were play-doh. So when my parents told me don't eat play-doh
00:44:02I thought they were trying to be like, hey don't eat play-doh cuz your balls will just get bigger cuz it will just go
00:44:06Right to your balls. Mm-hmm
00:44:09My balls were play-doh that would ride
00:44:11You just don't know what they are when you're a little kid and you said like that first time went way before puberty and you like
00:44:17Start touching me like this is weird. Mm-hmm. Oh my god must be play-doh. That's why they tell me not to eat play-doh
00:44:22That's a good one. Yeah, that's a good one. This is my last pick. Yeah, okay last pick I
00:44:29Will go I I
00:44:31Honestly used to think that every adult was smart. Yeah, I thought if you were grown-up, yeah, you knew what was going on
00:44:38Yeah, they kind of lie to you. You understood it. Yeah, and then you grow up and you're like, we're all done
00:44:42No, we're all really fucking dumb. Yeah. Yeah, you don't know
00:44:44I was probably smarter when I was a kid than I am now. I was definitely more intellectually curious
00:44:49Yeah, I was definitely asked better questions. Yeah
00:44:54And like had a had a more a mind that was like trying to figure things out instead of just being like oh
00:45:00That's what it is. Yeah, but if an adult said something it's like yeah. No, they're right. They're an adult
00:45:04yeah, because most grown-ups told me either are bullshit like those they'll they'll answer something just because they don't want to be wrong with a
00:45:10little kid or
00:45:11They just say it is what it is. Oh, yeah, or they're very confident and not smart at all
00:45:17Yeah, those are ones you might watch out for. I need a new I need a new fact because
00:45:23Like my kids always say when I when I tell them plans
00:45:26I try to tell them the plan so they know what's coming and they'll be like we know that already
00:45:30So then I was like, well, how about this?
00:45:32Did you know the Peregrine Falcon is the fastest animal and that blew their mind, but I don't have a second one
00:45:38You know, they're fun like an animal fact or anything act in general. That's the extent of my knowledge
00:45:43You can always go. I don't have anything. I'm confident. Did you know that Detroit's further east than Atlanta? Yeah, okay, that one's good
00:45:48Yeah, human head weights eight pounds. Yeah McGuire going to okay. All right, Max your last one
00:45:54Teachers lived at school. Yeah, good pick great one
00:45:57Also big guy you go with did you know that clay Thompson's last game with the Warriors? He went over ten? Yeah
00:46:02True. Yeah, but that's a good pick Max. I had that on my list too. I thought about that one
00:46:06Yeah, also nothing worse when you the once a year you called your teacher mom. Yeah, I thought about that
00:46:11I thought about saw I thought of teacher lived at school
00:46:14I thought about that as well and I was like, I don't know how to do that
00:46:17All right. What other ones I had? Um, I thought
00:46:20Cuz this is like when technology was, you know before the internet everything
00:46:25I thought my Gameboy controlled the airplane. Yeah, that's why they told you to turn it off. Mm-hmm
00:46:29So I thought like they're like turn it off because if you hit left here when you're playing, you know, Tetris
00:46:35It's gonna go the planes gonna go left. Yeah, I also thought
00:46:38A million dollars was the most amount of money you could have you max out when you get a million dollars
00:46:44You're set for life when yeah, nothing else like no one will ever
00:46:47You're just you retire if you have a million dollars. Boom, you're done. You retire at the age of seven. I
00:46:53Thought that
00:46:55I
00:46:57Thought I was an elf when I was a kid. Ooh, I
00:47:00Thought I cuz I had pointy ears. I saw myself the mirror one time. I was like fuck small. I might be an elf
00:47:05That's tough. I used to think you actually won the money
00:47:08When you get a pop-up on your computer, yeah
00:47:11Yeah scams. Yep
00:47:13I also I also in that same vein thought there was no correlation between what I was downloading on Limewire and my computers crashing
00:47:21Yep, yep. Oh, I mean, yeah, you could have you could have a long conversation about songs that you thought were other band songs
00:47:27Yeah, I thought dispatch wrote crazy game of poker. Oh, I mean every 50-cent song was a soldier boy every song was
00:47:36Any others max you had duct tape was duck do you see K like it was ducks made out of ducks. Oh, that's interesting
00:47:45I'd call it a lot of boy. That's why it's called duct tape
00:47:48Yeah, the only reason that kids had glasses was because they didn't eat enough carrots. Yes carrots are big times the night vision
00:47:55Yeah, I thought I could get night vision
00:47:57Also off of vision if you said if you sit too close to the TV, you'll go blind
00:48:02Oh the other one the if if you if
00:48:06Someone slaps you in the in the back when you're making a face you're stuck with that face for the rest of your life
00:48:11Mm-hmm. That was a big one. I think you take a shower would during a lightning storm. You'll get electrocuted. Yeah
00:48:18I thought chocolate milk came from brown cows
00:48:25Was up north driving past a brown cow and I pointed to my cousin I say, you know
00:48:30And he said what the fuck are you talking about?
00:48:37Where did you think strawberry milk came from I I knew that was artificial, okay
00:48:41I just I thought the brown was in the cow. Yeah, you know and yeah, I got mixed it. I don't know. Okay, I
00:48:50Used to think I was gonna be six feet tall because sometimes you go to a doctor and they're like, okay
00:48:54You're you're projected to grow this tall. Yeah, so I would be six feet tall. I used to think OJ was innocent
00:48:58Mm-hmm. I swore OJ was innocent. Yeah and down. Yeah, I was I was so happy when they found him not guilty
00:49:05um, I
00:49:06When when video games like first started getting good like so this is when a PlayStation come out PlayStation was like late 90s, right?
00:49:15I thought that I would cuz like my my parents were like you can't play video games during the week. I
00:49:22Thought that I was pulling it off when like my mom would walk in the room and I was playing
00:49:27Like 2k or Madden and I was like, it's not a video game. I'm watching the game. I'm watching sports
00:49:32Yeah, I thought the graphics were so good and they were so bad looking back. Yeah, I was just like, yeah, I got this
00:49:40She has no idea that these aren't real
00:49:46So stupid just so stupid
00:49:48I used to think that if you if you found the Tootsie Pop that had the Native American shooting a star you could take it
00:49:53To the gas station. They give you a new one. They give you a free Tootsie Pop. Yes. Yes
00:49:57Hank what anymore any more recent?
00:50:03I mean, there's definitely some recent Hank
00:50:05I would like you to keep a running list of just things that you find out
00:50:08Yeah, just like things that that up in the small parts of your world
00:50:12There's a couple that we have on this Mount Rushmore that I'm still a little 50-50 on elevator
00:50:17clouds I
00:50:18Think if you jumped high enough, you might still get six feet. Yeah, maybe that's a the chewing gum
00:50:23I get oh what what if you swallow it it stays there forever. That's one that I was so seven years
00:50:30That was what I was told seven regardless. I still might think that's true
00:50:34Yeah, and Hank just swallows all his gum
00:50:36Which is one of the most underrated not talk about enough stories on part of my take that every time Hank choose a piece of
00:50:42Gum, he swallows it. I would get like the
00:50:45CBS bags of gumballs
00:50:47That's crazy. Eat him like they were just that's crazy. Even to this day you swallow all your gum
00:50:53Yeah, that's fucking it is nuts crazy
00:50:57I when I was in like, I don't know how old I was
00:51:00But whenever you get like your first boners as a kid, I thought that meant that I had AIDS
00:51:04Yeah, I thought it was like, oh, I'm sick. Yeah, I'm I don't know. I'm gonna die. Yeah. Yeah, it was a crazy time
00:51:13Okay, good good Mount Rushmore. That was a fun one some good tangents
00:51:18Okay, we now welcome on to very special guests. It is Matt Damon and Casey Affleck
00:51:23They have a new movie out called the instigators you can watch it on Apple TV, it is an awesome movie
00:51:30We got a screener. We felt special for it
00:51:32I guess my first question though is
00:51:34You guys been doing a bunch of interviews today. Is this background like a knuckleball that's thrown at you
00:51:40We're like these two idiots are now interviewing us. I don't know how we got this interview, but we're happy to do
00:51:44Everybody's got Draftkings behind them
00:51:48Every outlet we had your PR one of your PR people were like you guys have the most time with them
00:51:54We don't know how that happened and we're just like oh shit
00:51:58Yeah, I guess we saw
00:52:02Yeah, yeah, so you've been doing a lot of interviews today
00:52:05That's it's always interesting doing these because you were obviously promoting the movie
00:52:08What's the dumbest question that you've been asked so far and we'll make sure not to ask that question
00:52:15They mostly it's been the answers that are done the questions have been pretty good the but I don't want to put you guys
00:52:21Some you know make you feel weird or anything
00:52:23But the last guy that interviewed us was an Olympic fencer competing in his third Olympics this summer
00:52:28And just the sweetest guy great questions really smart killer athlete that so we got you and you know
00:52:36But come on
00:52:38Guys got 40 minutes
00:52:41Listen that's not a real sport. Let's be honest fencing
00:52:46I don't think you'd tell him that oh, I would as long as you didn't have his little fence
00:52:50It's not even a real sword. Yeah, right. It's got like a little
00:52:55It's what it's one of the oldest sports, it's a great sport didn't you see Princess Bride you didn't like that
00:53:00No, I was great. That was real. So real swords. Yeah when they start using real swords and fencing. I'll start watching. Yeah
00:53:07They used to apparently he was just telling us that like we were he was talking about the equipment
00:53:12And he said too many people used to die
00:53:14So that's why they they put the thing at the end of the sword now dad
00:53:18Also, that's saying boxing's not a real sport because they don't use real fists like they got something the cushy thing
00:53:25Although the fit that fencing store
00:53:26You just said Matt that feels like every fencing guy says that to be like actually we used to be really tough
00:53:31Like you don't realize like it was so tough people died
00:53:35So I feel like you got duped there alright, so the movie though is awesome
00:53:39And my first question about the movie is you guys obviously have done so many things in your career
00:53:44Is there something specific when you work together and with Ben where you're like?
00:53:49this is just so much more fun because we're we're hanging with our friends and like the
00:53:53Familiarity of it is just brings you back to early days
00:53:56Do you have that feeling when you when you when you do a movie together for sure? Yeah. Yeah, but also
00:54:01It's not only the familiarity it's like the the the work process like when you go way back with someone
00:54:09You don't waste any time on like diplomacy
00:54:13You know which you know takes up a lot of your day when you're when you're in an artistic
00:54:18Endeavor with a whole group of people a lot of times you're protecting everybody's feelings, and you're you know well
00:54:23Yeah, what's the best way? I can say this and when you're with your old friend. You're just like dude that sucks, man
00:54:28We gotta do something else like
00:54:30You know figure it out like and and you kind of get to the root of the problem
00:54:34Faster and so much of filmmaking is just problem-solving and so the quicker you can get to why what's the problem?
00:54:41How can we fix it the the more the more fun? It is because you move faster
00:54:44You're more efficient like there's a better kind of creative momentum. Yeah, but because because you have that foundation. It's like
00:54:51You know the problem with the doing that with people
00:54:54You don't know is people's feelings get hurt or they feel like that there isn't that underlying respect
00:54:59Or you know when that stuff's just a given if you've known someone your whole life
00:55:02It's just like well obviously I love and respect you, but like you know we're lighting money on fire in production right now
00:55:08Like we got to figure this out. Yeah right now. No feelings get hurt. Yes. I like that
00:55:12It's a fair point you got the underlying relationship
00:55:14And you don't have to worry about pretending to be nice or at least just being nice and and wasting time doing that I have
00:55:19A dumb question about just being on a movie set in general
00:55:23It does ever get boring
00:55:25Yeah, like when you're filming a movie could like how much of your day is actually spent doing the work very little yeah
00:55:31And and depends what you think of the work the time. There's a there's an old saying it says
00:55:37It's it what they call is it between action and cut as a take right so there's this old tongue-twister saying
00:55:42It's not the take that takes the time to take the take is the time between the take that takes the time to take
00:55:47It's all that time I just got
00:55:50Yeah
00:55:51When you're like setting things up or thinking about what you want to do next that's that's real good time spent sometimes
00:55:58But it takes up most of the day
00:56:00And if you added up all the seconds that were spent while the camera was actually rolling
00:56:04I don't know what would it be an hour you know I mean
00:56:08Maybe a couple more during on a 10-hour day or something so
00:56:11Most of the time is downtime and a lot of that time is when other people are
00:56:14Doing what they need to do like you do your bit
00:56:17And then they got to move all the equipment and do stuff and so you got to wait in the same way
00:56:21It's probably boring for the for the crew sometimes
00:56:23So when you're you know need on take ten of some
00:56:26Scene that you're doing and they've heard it a million times
00:56:29And they don't want to but so you learn to be patient you learn to occupy yourself with other things
00:56:33Or to like use that time to think about what you're gonna do next yeah
00:56:37Yeah
00:56:38And I imagine having your friends around people that you've known a long time makes makes all that time a little bit better
00:56:42Makes it goes on world you try to like spend the time like catching up with your buddy
00:56:48That's over there doing like Tetris six hours a day wait
00:56:52What what is the game you're playing Matt is it wordle is it take you six hours to do wordle it does not?
00:56:59Do wordle no I usually like if it's a slow day if I know it's like a boring day like
00:57:06Entrances and exits like sometimes I'll bring my phone and catch up on emails and do stuff and like Ben
00:57:11And I are also check you know we have this studio artists equity, and we're and so that's that's a
00:57:16Takes a lot of time even when I'm not there in the office
00:57:20There's a lot of stuff that needs to get done, and it's angry birds
00:57:23Tetris
00:57:25So this movie is great, but when you guys were creating this and coming up with the idea
00:57:31Were you like hey?
00:57:33We know we can play the hits here because people are gonna love us back in Boston you got the heist
00:57:39It's it's you know a comedy as well
00:57:41There's got to be a party where you're like not playing the hits
00:57:44But if you guys if someone said a mad lib like Matt Damon Casey Affleck Ben Affleck are doing a heist movie in Boston
00:57:51And it's funny. It's like yeah, I'm in I'm a hundred percent in I'll watch that all day
00:57:55Did that go through your thought process like did we know this is gonna be a hit no?
00:57:58I wish we'd talked to you back when we were
00:58:00Yeah, we would have for confidence
00:58:03no, we case wrote the script with Chuck McClain who's a Boston guy and and and
00:58:09Like
00:58:11There was a lot of work once we started figuring out who was gonna be in it
00:58:15There was a lot more work to do so case and Chuck came back to New York
00:58:19And we worked with the director. We were like locked in a room for like three months trying to figure it out
00:58:24but what we really knew we wanted to do was a movie that was fun and
00:58:28And and moved fast like had a momentum to it, and that was just really entertaining
00:58:32That was kind of our like Midnight Run is is like the kind of North Star for us for for movies like this
00:58:39It's kind of a perfect movie
00:58:41Because it actually has some
00:58:43Some kind of emotional heft at the end, too
00:58:46It's like it really sneaks up on you
00:58:48but it's really fun throughout the whole movie and you're like with the characters even when they're bickering and arguing and
00:58:54and so that's what we were trying to kind of
00:58:57Like model them the the movie on and and that's kind of really all we were thinking it never felt like a layup
00:59:03right or feel like with a clear lane, you know, it was we
00:59:07We really wanted to be good and and I actually don't think that everyone's gonna like if you made a stinker
00:59:13People let us know it's not like ah, you know, I can just go anyway
00:59:17Not these days like you got to make a good movie people find out about it really quick
00:59:22Everyone's on social media. They go this movie sucks and nobody goes
00:59:24So we knew that we had to do something good and doesn't matter who's in it. Just got lucky that we had like
00:59:31Our director Doug Liman, but someone great in every single part like, you know
00:59:37Really experienced comedians and great actors and so kind of supported us
00:59:42Do you guys when you guys are doing movies? I'll start with you Casey like if you are
00:59:46embarking on a project
00:59:48How quickly can you tell like this is a hit or this might not be?
00:59:52This might not turn out exactly how I want it to be. I don't do that that well
00:59:56Even when the movies done it's hard for me to see exactly like I've just get too close to things
01:00:01So sometimes movies over I'm like when I see the first cut of a movie
01:00:05I'm like, oh man, we didn't do it and missed and that people really like it and then years later
01:00:09You watch it again. You're like that was really good. It's pretty good
01:00:12It takes me a minute and some distance to be able to see a thing that I've been in clearly
01:00:18And when you're on set and when you're reading it before you get to set it's just a shot in the dark
01:00:24I mean you're you're you're only guide is like
01:00:28Mmm, who are the other people involved? Do I want to work with them? Do I respect them?
01:00:33Do I like you know, is this gonna be something I can learn on is there something I think I can contribute
01:00:38Whether it turns out is to be good. It's just there's too many factors. It's out of your control
01:00:43You can put together assemble the best people in the planet and still make something that just doesn't work. So you got to go in
01:00:51Focused on the process and letting go of the results in some way
01:00:55Yeah, you talked about some of the great actors that are in this film and one of my favorites isn't here Paul Walter Houser
01:01:01Great actor man
01:01:04So he's amazing so as you're writing this movie
01:01:08Do you envision him in this role or when he was cast in this role?
01:01:11Were you like, okay, this is perfect. How do you work with him before it's just I'm enthralled with everything that he does
01:01:18First thing I'd seen was Blackbird and it was right when before they were casting it and I was like that guy's amazing
01:01:24That's if that is a great performance
01:01:26Didn't know him didn't know anything else about him. I didn't I didn't know him. I mean, I'd seen him in Juul and
01:01:33Yeah, and Blackbird and but no, I mean he just he's also one of those guys, you know
01:01:39We've been doing it for a long time and like we kind of know how the magic tricks done and when you see somebody up
01:01:44Close who's just a baller
01:01:47It's just it's just undeniable like from the second he walked on set and started working
01:01:52You're like god that guy is so freaking good
01:01:56He really is one of the best actors out there
01:01:59So yeah, I'm you know, we're trying to do something else with him at artists equity now a project that he wrote
01:02:06Actually, I want to do as much as I can with him just because I think I just think he's incredible
01:02:11Can I pitch wrestling can I pitch it to two projects for him that I think you would knock out of the park one
01:02:16I'll tell him one
01:02:18Okay. No, you can take you can steal this steal my IP
01:02:22One would be him playing Andy Reid in the Andy Reid story. Oh, that's a great idea. I think it crushed that
01:02:29Yeah, and then
01:02:31Confederacy dunces if that movie ever gets made and he knows
01:02:36Seymour Hoffman was looking at that for a really long time
01:02:39And got close I think a few times I remember talking to him about it 20 years ago
01:02:44I read a few scripts of that. Yeah, and never never quite as good as the book
01:02:48But um, that's a good that's a good call to really good calls
01:02:52And in fact, I could call after when I get home tonight and I'll tell him let him know
01:02:57I wish I could buy stock and somebody winning best actor at some point like if there was a market out there
01:03:02I put a lot of money on that guy. That's a good call. Yeah, that's a very good call
01:03:06We should do that. We should create a stock create the stock market for
01:03:10There was something called the Hollywood Stock Exchange
01:03:12For a while. I don't know if you could bet on them being I think movies you bet on or something or was it?
01:03:18Just X and no you buy stock in actors in movies and then it goes up and down based on not sure what but I
01:03:26Think that's the heart. I like that. Yeah, we'll figure out the market for that Matt. I had a question for you
01:03:31Did you not get invited to do a roast at Tom Brady's thing?
01:03:35No, I did I I did that's why I did the voiceover at the beginning
01:03:40because I couldn't go to LA because I was in New York and
01:03:43I had to go to the Met Ball the next day. Oh, what happened?
01:03:51Is that true are you a Met Gala guy over a Tom Brady guy? Oh, don't judge him guys
01:03:58Here's the key to a happy marriage. I would rather be happy than right. Okay. Yeah, so but it is Tom Brady
01:04:04It is Tom Brady and Tom understood. I texted I texted with him
01:04:08He invited me to go out and then and then it was good that I was able to there was a there was a nice little
01:04:12Video package they did at the beginning and so I went to a studio here in New York and did a voiceover for that
01:04:17I wasn't invited here if you're curious. Yeah, did you did you help Ben?
01:04:23Okay, yeah, how'd you think your brother did I actually didn't see it, okay, that's good
01:04:27So you could just say he did well, you can just be like great job
01:04:31Yeah, I did I'm pretty good at a roast though, I really kind of roasted Matt at his wedding that was cross race
01:04:36Trust me. You did. What did you say?
01:04:39He did like 30 straight minutes of stand-up. Like he was Dave Chappelle or something
01:04:45He just destroyed me in front of like my family and friends. It was incredible
01:04:50Yeah, you're allowed to do that at a wedding
01:04:52You're allowed to just like, you know, just be like here also a wedding like we this was a 15 years ago
01:04:58But my wife and I had already been together for 10 years and we had been married for like eight of those years
01:05:04And so it was like we never we had run to the courthouse when we got married
01:05:08And so we never got to have a wedding
01:05:10so like 10 years after we met we decided to do a big wedding and so it was
01:05:15So it was kind of a more fun affair because it wasn't like is it gonna work out like we were already married for a
01:05:21long time and we just had a big fun weekend with our friends and
01:05:25until Casey
01:05:28That that was smart of you Casey you can't what's the worst gonna happen?
01:05:31There's gonna go back to being married which they've done for eight years before like I was very nice about Lucy. Yeah
01:05:38all right, so
01:05:40We're taping this a couple months before it comes out
01:05:43Do you guys want to give us a prediction on the Celtic season? So that way you can either look really smart or really bad
01:05:47Yes. Yes. I'll give you my prediction
01:05:50Well, my hope is obviously probably what all our hope is but but my prediction is I mean poor thing is probably coming back after game
01:05:56Four did a horn just go outside like shut up, man
01:06:03Look I think we're the best team left
01:06:05I think we're the deepest team and if we can stay injury-free and if he can come back
01:06:09I feel like we really should win this thing and I'm and I'm hoping that we do I will be I will be gutted if we
01:06:16don't
01:06:18Especially after that, you know, we're taping this just that just before game two in the Eastern Conference finals
01:06:24I didn't love how close the game was at home the other night
01:06:27But it was a it was we definitely stole one back from them. And so
01:06:32It feels like one of those faded years
01:06:35Yeah at them, but I'm you know, it'll be I'll be gutted if we don't win it. Okay, and Casey
01:06:41Well, you got the Wolves or something?
01:06:44Funny if you're just like yeah Wolves in five. No problem. I
01:06:48Would ask you guys a question. Did you guys see dynasty? Yes. Yeah
01:06:52You did did you feel like it was fair? No, no, not at all. We ripped it apart. It was it was it was basically
01:07:00Robert Kraft being like I need more credit for everything that's happened
01:07:06Which is a crazy thing to think about because if you're an owner of a sports team
01:07:10You are a billionaire you own the team
01:07:12You're never gonna get as much credit as the quarterback and the coach
01:07:15But all these guys they want this credit of being like I did more than everyone realizes and in in doing that
01:07:21He ends up kind of looking bad and he makes like I think they slanted
01:07:25It's so hard against Belichick that everyone who has watched the Patriots the last 20 years are like this is not how it happened
01:07:32Like this is the best coach of all time. What are they talking about?
01:07:34So I think it actually hurt him and you think that that agenda came from from Robert Kraft
01:07:39I think Robert Kraft wants to get into the Hall of Fame and I think he kind of overplayed his hand here because
01:07:44They don't let a lot of owners in like Jerry Jones just got in I don't like five six years ago
01:07:49How would Robert Kraft not get into the Hall of Fame if any other owner is in the Hall of Fame well Matt
01:07:54I don't know if you know, but the Patriots have been involved in some controversies with the NFL
01:08:05He'll get in but I think he was trying to basically put out like a documentary saying this is all I did and
01:08:12I'm watching it. We're just like what is going on here?
01:08:15It's hard to do that with a documentary to to have an audience watch it and
01:08:19Understand exactly what the agenda is as you're watching it. Sometimes you go back. You're like, oh well
01:08:24it turns out his production company was involved yada yada yada as
01:08:27You're watching this when you see the interviews with coach Belichick and he looks like he'd be he'd rather be anywhere else than in that chair
01:08:33Answering these questions like that in an interview, but it's but that's a fair point
01:08:38But I felt like it was especially in this one and you you understand that they shot it during the season
01:08:44While he was an employee of Robert Kraft who was like telling him
01:08:47Hey go sit for this interview because I actually think Belichick would not have sat for any interview with anyone
01:08:53If it was just his own choice, right, but he was kind of made to do it
01:08:56so yeah, it kind of ended up I think being like a little bit more sympathetic towards Belichick and
01:09:03And that point of view then then they wanted it to be. Yeah, cuz everyone knows it
01:09:07Yeah me about that
01:09:08One of the details was that him and Ernie figured out like saw that drew
01:09:14Bledsoe was getting nervous getting like skittish feet in the pocket
01:09:18Like I never ever knew that and that never came out right remember that year when it was going down
01:09:24Everyone's like who's he gonna play this week? Like oh my god
01:09:27He's putting the kid back in like cuz Bledsoe was like the guy in New England hundred million dollar contract and all that stuff
01:09:33I never I never realized that they actually saw something
01:09:36they were like cuz Bledsoe played in that era where I mean he took
01:09:41Punishment like and and how does that not get to you the accumulation of all those hits like you start thinking about that?
01:09:47You're coming off of an injury and that it was actually a calculated decision
01:09:51They were like, well the 22 year old kids cool with it. Like yeah, let's leave him. Yeah, that I thought was really cool
01:09:57I'd never I'd never known that all says it was so well done
01:10:00It's like a hundred percent Rotten Tomatoes watching it
01:10:03You just sit down and you watch from beginning to end. It's like one of the best sports talks
01:10:06I think it leaves people with the impression that that is how it was that you know
01:10:11And I mean there I haven't talked to a lot of people that are like, I don't know
01:10:14Like I think we got manipulated a little bit
01:10:16I think you know the kind of take that you have is not the take that I hear most of the time most
01:10:21Most people just go like wow
01:10:22It was interesting to learn that Belichick was like X Y & Z right I'm saying I think this might have been
01:10:29Here's another question though. We're just real quick. So I know you guys
01:10:32Know so much about this like what's gonna happen to Aaron Rodgers. What do you mean?
01:10:36He's probably gonna probably get injured again
01:10:38He's gonna get injured and then he's gonna run for vice president and he's gonna become vice president the United States
01:10:46I'm a Bears fan. So Aaron Rodgers has tortured my entire life. So I hate him
01:10:50I've been trying to get him put in jail for a very long time
01:10:53And then you may be on about this draft choice if as a Bears fan
01:10:57Yeah
01:10:58Incredible he's eccentric. He's cool
01:11:01Paints his fingernails. That's not a problem, right? I don't see why that would be a problem
01:11:06No, I'm just wondering if you think it'll be it's that number one
01:11:08It's that it's really tough. Like do you get Peyton Manning or do you get you know, yeah, it's a bit
01:11:13Well, I mean didn't have to say Mitch Mitch was the second pick. So that was a second pick
01:11:18But but but my homes was in that draft
01:11:20He was he was that's got
01:11:23Yeah. Yeah. I mean we you know, you guys got Drake May so Hank our producers a big Patriots fan
01:11:29He was actually in the documentary because he went to jail for Tom Brady
01:11:32He didn't like the documentary. He thought it was too slanted. So I don't know maybe it's
01:11:37Yeah, he thought it was just too much hate on Bill Belichick and not giving I did
01:11:41I like Bella chicks thing at the roast where he said, you know
01:11:44It's brave of you to do a roast for a couple hours like rather than like in a 10-part Apple series
01:11:50Right. That was really funny. Yeah. Yeah, have you so so going off of that Hank our producer?
01:11:57He admitted a couple weeks ago that he is like for the first time in his life
01:12:02He's like has to come to grips with the fact that he might just be a loser this year and in football
01:12:06Have you guys had that thought where you're like, oh, this is different now. We're losers again
01:12:14If Hank is an old-school Patriots fan and he's anywhere near our age then not 30
01:12:18He's always known as joy. Yeah, he's got no fucking idea
01:12:23Patriots fan was a certain kind of hell for and it's true
01:12:26And maybe this is why we have a different perspective on the Robert Kraft thing until Robert Kraft bought the team
01:12:31Yeah, what like they were it was brutal going out to Foxboro to watch them play
01:12:36It was brutal watching him play on TV. Like it just was it was a
01:12:41Heartbreaking constantly fact his dad used to always say bet against the Patriots no matter what just bet against the Patriots
01:12:47If you want to make money gambling, the only sure thing to do is bet against the Patriots when we were kids. So I
01:12:54I'm comfortable with knowing that they're gonna you know, they're gonna go through that kind of predictable next day
01:12:59I gotta rebuild you gotta rebuild properly. Yeah. Yeah
01:13:02Yeah, Hank is young enough where he's only known joy in his life as a Boston sports fan
01:13:07So across that's amazing to me like cuz cuz our formative years were so different like between this
01:13:13I mean we had we had the Celtics in the 80s, which was huge
01:13:17Within that's what we had
01:13:19But every other team was just a would break your heart every year the Patriots less so because they just were never good
01:13:26They were it was like excruciating watching him play. Yeah. Yeah
01:13:29So if you were to rank your your favorite like top three Boston sports memories, what would they be memories?
01:13:35Yeah, so memories being there are just moments and just I guess that's really your three favorite championships
01:13:42All right, well doesn't fool I have to start with Oh for yeah without it, I mean I went to the parade I
01:13:50Drove up from from New York. I
01:13:53And got to Boston and we were all going to the parade. We have my nephews
01:13:56We had everybody my youngest daughter and I literally ran up to Boylston Street before we were gonna go meet them at the
01:14:03River to watch the duck boats go out by myself and stood on Boylston Street and just cried
01:14:09I was in my 30s as the duck boats went by like that's how profound
01:14:14That was for I didn't think we would it's that thing that you couldn't believe it's like
01:14:19the dog catching the car and then eating it in front of you like
01:14:24Couldn't believe that and I in 2004 we went to Yankee Stadium was game three was game three
01:14:31It was the moment the curse got broken. They didn't lose
01:14:34That was the end of losing because then they won that game
01:14:37They won the next three games and then they swept Cincinnati and they and we won finally was how bad it was
01:14:44We wore Red Sox hats in the Yankee Stadium and we thought alright
01:14:49we'll see what happens and as we walked in they everyone was like
01:14:53Oh, like it's so cute that you were wore your hat like they just so didn't care
01:14:58Like it was so not a rivalry to them. They were so sure they were gonna win. Oh, it was just awful
01:15:04They're gonna cook you in the comments to this video. They say Cardinals. Yeah, you meant to say
01:15:17So wait who's in so you those championships, but who's your Mount Rushmore
01:15:22I should have known that because it was John Hamstead. Yeah, who's your Mount Rushmore of Boston athletes?
01:15:27Oh, that's a great question. That's a great question. I mean obviously Tom for football
01:15:32There's zero doubt about that. Wait
01:15:35No, no
01:15:37Baseball so you can so here's the thing poppy. I would go big poppy
01:15:40I think a lot of people would say Ted Williams. I'm gonna say in our life
01:15:44No, no, but I'm saying you're saying Boston all-time. Okay, right because when you get to basketball, what do you do?
01:15:50Bill Russell, right 11 championships player coach. Like how do you not put Bill Russell on that Mount Rushmore?
01:15:56You never see that again, right? But then you've also got Larry. You've got Paul Pierce
01:16:02Yeah, I like Paul Paul these I'm not no no, but I'm just saying
01:16:06Red Arbok when all is said and done
01:16:09So and then but and then Bobby or that would be so I would probably go Tom poppy
01:16:17Bobby or
01:16:18Bill Russell, okay
01:16:20That's good for yeah, that's a strong for so if you're if you're casting like the 28 to 3 Patriots if you're making a movie
01:16:27I
01:16:28Assume that you guys would be involved in the production of that that feels like it would be right in your wheelhouse
01:16:33Who play would hope so who plays what role?
01:16:36Well, I cast him as Matt Ryan
01:16:39Yeah, good answer. Yeah
01:16:42Who gets Tommy?
01:16:44What's that who gets to play Tommy who plays Tom Brady? I don't know who plays Tom Brady
01:16:51Who today what you want young actor could play Tom
01:16:55Oh Jacob Alordi, it's guys like yes, it's all
01:17:00Yeah
01:17:04I'm not gonna cast it Gronk plays itself
01:17:07I don't think anybody would believe it if you made it into a movie. Yeah, it's true
01:17:11What uh, what's the one role that you passed up that you're you you kick yourself constantly?
01:17:17You're like damn. I really should have taken that role. You know, it's funny
01:17:20I
01:17:21Really have a more kind of Zen philosophy about this because there's a lot of roles
01:17:25I've passed up that were really great that turned into great movies
01:17:28but for one reason or another I had to pass it up and I I
01:17:33Really feel like the right actor gets the part, you know, it just kind of works out it
01:17:39But the biggest one that I ever passed without a question
01:17:43I had a chance to be an avatar and
01:17:46And
01:17:47but it conflicted with the Bourne ultimatum with the post-production of the Bourne ultimatum, so I just couldn't do it and
01:17:54The bummer for me was that I couldn't work with Jim Cameron because he he doesn't work that often and I realized in passing
01:18:01I was like 35 years old
01:18:02I was like I'm probably not gonna get another chance to work with Jim Cameron and
01:18:05That sucks because I really would have loved to work with him. I love his movies
01:18:10I would have learned a lot
01:18:11And I probably would have made more money than any actor in history had I taken the part but
01:18:16But you know, I don't I don't I don't it doesn't keep me up at night. I mean, I know why I had to pass
01:18:23So I'm at peace with it sounds like every now
01:18:28Sounds like every now and then you think about how much money that would have been
01:18:35Because it's not real money
01:18:37Right, so it's not like it's not like that money got taken from me which would have bankrupted me by the way
01:18:42It was uh, it's just money that I never it's like I also
01:18:46Invested in Apple stock 20 years ago. Yeah, I mean, but I didn't was it 10%
01:18:52It was 10% of the of the of the total earnings from the film
01:18:56Yeah. Yeah, do you ever go back and look at what the total earnings are?
01:19:00The total earnings
01:19:05Earnings are total earning out and this is just avatar one
01:19:09Avatar one, right? Yeah, we're see three billion three billion dollars is the total earnings that is it three billion billion sad view
01:19:17I'm not good at math. What's what's three?
01:19:20300 million you're good at math Casey
01:19:24Wait avatar 200 million. Oh, no. Oh no an avatar 2 is 2.3 billion
01:19:30Oh and think about that
01:19:34He would have given me the same deal on the second one he's like dude, come on and you would
01:19:39You would have had that money and you also definitely would have been doing this interview with us us two shitheads right now
01:19:44I would have been like I don't do suppressing
01:19:48See you would have owned a draft
01:19:52Yeah
01:19:54So wait, what was the answer for you? Casey? Is there one that you look back?
01:19:57You're like I kind of wish not like a huge regret but like man
01:20:00I had that in front of me and it would have been cool if I did that. No, no, I'm really I mean
01:20:08No, I don't really there haven't been a ton that have been like people not begging me to do some movie that could be great
01:20:14And it isn't great. I mean, you know, and I don't think it is
01:20:17It's I mostly like see things I want and I just really try hard to get them. Yeah, and I
01:20:23Usually don't get them and then some of them I do and then I do those
01:20:26There are very few that I pass on that have ended up being
01:20:30You know
01:20:31Try to think huge hugely successful or super cool movies
01:20:37Yeah, no way you would have passed on avatar, right
01:20:41No, he's not that dumb
01:20:43I would I told not to do it. In fact because I was hoping to come to me next
01:20:48I just have a sheet. They're like, all right, Ben said no Matt said no. Okay. See there you are
01:20:55All right, so this movie though is is is very good I people need to go see it
01:21:00It's it's very funny. I was it cool having a moment where you're like, we're back in Boston filming this the you know
01:21:08The three of us together, you know 20 whatever five years since Goodwill hunting
01:21:13Have you had that pinch yourself moment where it's like you never thought in a million years when we did Goodwill hunting
01:21:18This is where we'd be right now
01:21:20Yeah, I I like my dream was to my dream
01:21:25childhood dream
01:21:27Kind of ended with Goodwill hunting coming out, you know, and I remember that experience and afterwards going
01:21:34well, what do I do now like
01:21:36that was that was it that was all I ever wanted was to was to make a great movie and be in it and and
01:21:43So like the fact that we're still
01:21:47Able to do this like we love this job. We'd love it
01:21:50it's so fun making movies and and and having people like them and and and if people like them if enough people like them then
01:21:57you get to do another one and
01:21:58It's really hard to string together a career because there's no tenure or anything, you know, it's just what's your next thing?
01:22:06and so most careers kind of die on the vine or fizzle out or
01:22:11For whatever reason very hard to sustain a career. And so the fact that we're still both working 25 years after that movie
01:22:18Is great and and that is like a that is the pipe dream really? Yeah
01:22:24So we're just trying not to screw it up. Yeah. Yeah, he's got to be very cool done a good job
01:22:29Not screwing it up. Yeah, you guys are very humble. Yeah, you guys both really you're really fucking good actors
01:22:36Thanks, man. Yeah, I don't know
01:22:38I feel like maybe this is why it's good that we don't have like a ton of success cuz I'd be just walk around being
01:22:43Like yeah, I'm just gonna make another hit. It's not gonna be a big deal like whatever
01:22:48that's by the way that
01:22:50like you can't think that way on in the movie because it's like that's like
01:22:54That's like poise it like if you think this is gonna be a hit
01:22:58It's not like the one time I was like, this is gonna be a hit was that movie The Great Wall that I did
01:23:04that not a hit and
01:23:07It was like and I feel like I figured it out like a month into shooting and
01:23:12We had like four months to go
01:23:14And I was just like I came to realize that as the definition of a professional actor
01:23:20It's true still get up every day and be like and you're on a ship that you know
01:23:24Isn't seaworthy and you're like I'm gonna do everything that's asked him
01:23:28I'm gonna do I'm gonna work my ass off today for 14 hours
01:23:32Like that, you know, that's a that's a that's a feeling that I don't want to I had the I had that experience
01:23:40Of being in the one that was like just didn't land the Great Wall on the same movie
01:23:45That also was my like this is the thing. I've always waited for which was
01:23:51The assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford the Brad Pitt was in it was like a studio movie with Brad Pitt
01:23:56I was the lead it was the one of the most beautiful scripts
01:23:59I've ever read with a great director and was and then it it came out and nobody liked it and it was like
01:24:08Just felt like the biggest
01:24:10Disappointment for a minute and I thought I love this movie
01:24:13What do I care right? No one like you have to divorce yourself from those responses and then
01:24:19Ten years later. It was like, you know people really loved that movie just for whatever reason like Pete
01:24:24It's not in the mud wasn't in the moment
01:24:26Bad timing and then people found it and so those kinds of ups and downs like you have to just roll
01:24:33Roll with all of them if you want to keep working. That's the weird thing too about like what became way more
01:24:39common knowledge in the last 30 years is
01:24:43The box office and I think because of the explosion of like Marvel and all the IP movies
01:24:48Like everybody started paying attention to the business side of things
01:24:52Like that wasn't a thing when we were growing up like I if I go see Robert De Niro in a movie
01:24:57I didn't know how it did at the box office
01:24:59I wouldn't even know what that meant and
01:25:01It's not really an accurate barometer of how good a movie is
01:25:04It just means that a bunch of people went to see it
01:25:06And so to try it's like people make that thing of they try to quantify a movie by how much money it makes
01:25:13But and it is one yardstick by which to take a measurement
01:25:18But it's really not the only thing and it's never a measure of if something's gonna last and sustain and you know
01:25:23Like the Ben's movie the town just got re-licensed on
01:25:27By Warner Brothers a few years ago for like 35 million bucks like 15 years later
01:25:33It's worth that much to one of these streamers
01:25:36Because people are still watching the movie like that's of a movie that's really works
01:25:41You know what?
01:25:42I mean at last and I always thought like when they do the Academy Awards the real best way to do it if you take
01:25:48All the money and the marketing all that stuff out is to do the awards like 20 years after the movies come out
01:25:54Yeah, this you'd be voting on the movies that were out in
01:25:582004 and every and then you it would be so easy to go like well what made it?
01:26:03Yeah, there's no no spin. There's no it's like I still watch that movie. I still love that movie
01:26:09Like that was the best movie of 2004. It would be I think probably a more accurate gauge of
01:26:16Whether a movie really works you get a revote. Yeah. Yeah, good. Maybe we start that guys. Maybe instead. That's the new
01:26:23We'll do a revote with stock exchange. We do a revote. I like
01:26:27But there are any sports stories that you guys think you wish would be made into movies. Oh
01:26:32the the net was
01:26:341995 South African rugby team
01:26:37That nobody thought could win the World Cup and it was it was like a story of
01:26:42Races coming together to and like post-apartheid South Africa. I think that's such a great story. I don't think that's gonna work
01:26:48What about I know if somebody did it
01:26:50If somebody did it, right, it would be my favorite movie ever
01:26:53But we just we need somebody to step up and do that. I'd like to see a movie on the time
01:26:57Joe passed shit his pants during a game
01:27:01Just throw that out there
01:27:02Like people would be like, oh, we're doing a Joe Paterno movie or like ooh, that's heavy. It's like no no
01:27:07It's it's just the time. He shit his pants against, Ohio State
01:27:10That's the whole movie
01:27:13Or do it do a movie about how how frequently Joe Missoula watches the town
01:27:17Yeah, that's where the 35 million came from. By the way, it's just Joe
01:27:21Watches it every single day. Yeah, he does. We had him on he said that
01:27:24Alright, so I had one last question rowback question
01:27:26RHO BAC k comm promo code take 20% off your first purchase q-zips polos hoodies joggers shorts rowback calm
01:27:32Thank you guys so much. The movie is awesome. My last question Matt
01:27:36I've heard you say it and talk about it, but Casey, I don't know if I've ever seen you talk about it
01:27:41What do you think about your brother's back tattoo looks like it hurts?
01:27:47Right, it's classy by the way, we both had a tattoo on our back we got when we were really really young
01:27:55That was way better it was simple elegant meaningful. Yeah
01:28:00The other thing but I like the guy the tattoo artist it does that was very very talented a really nice sweet guy
01:28:06I think he just got talked into doing something that you know, yeah, what if we just made the entire back a tattoo?
01:28:12He's like, yeah, I guess
01:28:13He's a data for that like that Prescott. Did they did they knock him out for the tattoo?
01:28:23Yeah, well, thank you guys really appreciate it I didn't even bring up the time my wife saw you Matt in Dumbo
01:28:29That's my whole Matt. Don't Damon story. She just saw you at dinner. So that's it. Yeah, that's the whole thing
01:28:35I got we used to live in Dumbo. So she's like, oh I saw Matt Damon. That's the whole story though
01:28:39There's nothing special the story. She didn't we didn't talk. No. No, she just no she just text me
01:28:43She's like I just walked past Matt Damon
01:28:46Wow, pretty good
01:28:52If we actually say something she just saw you just text me I saw Matt Damon's like, oh, okay cool
01:28:58I said a little bit real quick. What is a rat at the end of the departed symbolized? We've we've talked about this for years
01:29:04I mean, it's probably if Marty hasn't come out and said it. I mean the whole movies about rats and bit, you know, it's a rat
01:29:13Yeah, I mean I mean
01:29:16The writer had in the script in the in the original script
01:29:19I lived in an old brownstone and like Back Bay and that was the idea of me of me
01:29:25Kind of climbing the the you know, the the social ladder and now I find myself in this old brownstone
01:29:31But there's still a rat that you the rat comes across and it's it's his past
01:29:35It's the thing, you know, it's it's it's meant to symbolize all that stuff
01:29:38Got it, but when Marty wanted to wanted to see the statehouse, you know to cut, you know
01:29:43And he's looking out at the gold which meant that I was in kind of a more modern
01:29:48Building and so people kind of some people bristled at the rat. They're like what's a rat doing in that building?
01:29:52It looks a little hungriest symbol. And so yeah, it's a rat. Yeah. Yeah. Well, thank you guys so much
01:29:59We really appreciate it was great to have you guys on and everyone go watch the instigators. It's an awesome movie
01:30:04Thanks. I love your show. All right, thanks guys

01:31:25Okay, let's wrap up the show. We got fire fest of the week Hank. You're back from vacation
01:31:30I am your fire fest. I have that's the problem with vacations. There's not really uh
01:31:36There's not any bad things to talk about yeah, and you're you need a vacation for your vacation
01:31:41So you got back today it to you let it to let it to so I tried in traffic when I landed
01:31:49I had to sit in traffic for two hours Thursday's out
01:31:52And then tomorrow you'll be in the office
01:31:56Yeah in the afternoon, oh really why what are you doing in the morning?
01:31:59Well, we have the week off and then big cats, you know, I've been saying
01:32:03Today to go to Beverly's find a day to go play golf
01:32:06And since technically this is a week off. We are here right now. We're gonna be here all night. I've been here all day
01:32:14We're going on a work trip Saturday no big deal
01:32:18Poor golfing you and I are golfing. Yeah, Hank's holding me hostage. I'm golfing tomorrow in the morning
01:32:25I'm excited. Have fun. Those greens are fast. I'm not I'm gonna play about nine holes
01:32:29What is that? Is that a slap in the members face? I think so. Really? I don't know
01:32:34I told you I've been saying all y'all call it set it up. Let's set it up. There's a week off
01:32:38You're like I gotta go do the yak. It's like, okay
01:32:40All right, maybe I'll be late to the act. Maybe I'll play 12 holes. Whatever you want. No, I'm not an 18 hole
01:32:45No, I know. I'm not an 18. I'm excited to you know, play some golf with my friends. Yeah, so what's your fire fest?
01:32:52I sat in traffic two hours of traffic. Oh my god
01:32:58Are you okay? Yeah. Yeah. I mean that's that's it. I had a great week. You're gonna cry. I love vacation
01:33:04Yeah, it was good. They feel refreshed feel refreshed. Yeah
01:33:09Traffic is I wouldn't wish that on I mean I lost I also lost a Mount Rushmore to a fucking someone picking celery for a snack
01:33:16Yeah, celery and peanut butter. Yeah, and you know that yeah, you're you're well
01:33:21I'm with Hank because we've got a meatball merchant named Max and
01:33:25He's just stacking wins because he keeps picking the fattiest foods. Well, and we're done with food drafts for the rest of the summer. So
01:33:33We'll see how max can hold up without having to just go meatballs on every draft. It has been a stunning
01:33:40Like max had on fire in the Mount Rushmore season. Yeah, I mean I I've been I did spend a lot of time reflecting and trying
01:33:47to you know
01:33:48Revisit some some game plan and strategy things cuz
01:33:52like the snack draft I
01:33:54That one great for me. I left that draft being like great draft and celery be dead last celery lost his celery
01:34:01Yeah that yeah whooped you that really is has put my brain in a pretzel. Yeah, okay
01:34:08PFT your fire fest
01:34:10I've had a pretty good week. It's been a nice little vacation here
01:34:13but I think the joint fire fest is that
01:34:18The takies have stirred up a lot of controversy. Mm-hmm, and there are some people who are very upset
01:34:24Tom for Nelly very upset for not being nominated for Italian of the year. Yeah
01:34:29He's got a lot to work on with his Italian this this year
01:34:32And I hope it I hope he puts forth a better showing but then the big controversy is from the lib of the year award
01:34:37Yes, and Jerry is really going through it right now because Jerry he keeps alternating back and forth between like, okay
01:34:44I appreciate the award and
01:34:47Saying like oh, no, please take it away from me. Everyone. Please stop calling me the lib of the year
01:34:51He texted me in big cat this morning asking us if we would rescind the award and take it away from him
01:34:57Mm-hmm. We reminded him that there is a cash prize that goes along with the award, correct?
01:35:01So he says that he's okay with with keeping it for now
01:35:04He did a quick 180 on that one, but he's really struggling with everyone calling it the lib of the year online
01:35:10So, please everyone if we could stop calling Jerry lib of the year online and
01:35:15Don't remind him that he won the lib of the year award. No matter what here's here's a good. So yeah, he
01:35:21He was quickly backtracked when we told him the cash prize. You'd have to give that back
01:35:25And we said that the cash prize is up to it could be up to $20,000 depending on how many times people call him live
01:35:31Of the year, but I agree with PFTs. Please stop calling live of the year online
01:35:37Instead buy a Jerry lib of the year shirt that we that's now in the store so you can do it in real life
01:35:42Which would be better?
01:35:44Yep. Yep. And yeah, just no matter what stop calling him that all the time
01:35:49Like stop saying that to him every single minute that you're online
01:35:52He said that he's gonna delete Twitter
01:35:53But that's also because there was a picture of him eating a corn dog getting a corn dog shoved down his throat
01:35:58So he's having a tough time. He's having a tough go of it. He also has a picture going floating around with the
01:36:03Hillary Clinton trading card on his forehead, so it's been a tough week, but he did win the Libby here. So congrats. Yeah
01:36:11Yeah, I mean he should be I guess be proud of whatever award that you get
01:36:15He's more of a participation trophy kind of guy though, I guess so he wants everyone to have a little bit of year
01:36:19Yeah, the there's actually in the in the new Twitter
01:36:22there's the Explorer and one of the top ones I have right now is Libby the Year Award controversy and it's got the
01:36:29The AI summary says Jersey Jerry a prominent figure was awarded Libby the Year title by the popular podcast
01:36:34Pardon my take the announcement made by Nick Adams led to a flurry of reactions on social media while many congratulated Jerry
01:36:41He expressed discomfort with the overwhelming attention and requested a reduction in the frequency of mentions
01:36:46The situation sparked a mix of support humor and criticism from various users highlighting the complexities of public recognition in the digital
01:36:55I
01:36:57Love it. It's perfect. Yeah. Also, how come nobody told me I look like I'm in hell right now
01:37:02Well, you just changed your lighting. So how could we tell you that it looks like you're on a play stage before?
01:37:07Yeah, you changed your lighting you were I didn't change anything. Well something something changed you look different at helping room
01:37:15I'm at I'm at Scully's right now. And I think they're getting ready for for sound check right now. Here we go
01:37:21Now I'm in heaven, yeah heaven hell
01:37:24Change how you were looking not like that and then something changed with the lighting. All right, my fire fest
01:37:30I got an easy one. I my son pissed on me. That was all so that was fun
01:37:35You pissed on actually we're playing which one we were playing swords and he pissed across the toilet all over my leg
01:37:42So but that's the gate that listen when you get in the in between the lines and you're playing swords with your son
01:37:47You got to expect that to happen some from time to time that sword fight. I literally fight so dangerous
01:37:52we started the sword fight and then all of a sudden I was like
01:37:54Why is my whole entire leg feel wet and I looked down and he was just peeing all over me
01:38:00So I think that means he won the sword fight easily easily total alpha move total alpha move
01:38:06But yeah, you got to be able you got to play swords with your kid. Come on. It's fun
01:38:09It's just like, you know, cuz usually I do win but this one he's changed the game and it and credit to me
01:38:16I didn't pee on him. I was gonna say I feel like you're thinking
01:38:19Thought crossed my mind thought crossed my mind, but I figured you know, what?
01:38:23Let's just let's let's play it. Let's play this the right way chalk it up to a loss move on play another game
01:38:28All right, Huey. You want to finish this off? Yeah, my fire fest is doing laundry. Oh
01:38:34specifically mine
01:38:36So I have so the apartment I'm in right now the the type of I don't have a washer dryer in my place
01:38:43It's a it's four stories down
01:38:45And in a different place, so I have to share that laundry room with three other units
01:38:50And how many machines it's just one washer one dryer. Oh, yeah
01:38:55Yeah, and it's in a different hole. It's in it. So yeah, it's like a four stories down in different
01:39:02Elevator no
01:39:04But it's a different set of staircases. It's like in the back. So it's like darker and like there's no look
01:39:09There's no windows out there. It's just one light at the bottom one light at the top. Sounds like a basement. Yeah
01:39:16And there's spiders all the way up and down the wall, okay, it's just it I'm afraid to go down there
01:39:23So you have no to clean laundry. So I I'm running low on clean laundry now because it's been two weeks
01:39:27It's you know running low out of everything. So I bought new clothes
01:39:31But just you know essential stuff found some DraftKings shirts, you know in the other room in the gambling cave. So that's gonna help
01:39:39You you can go to my my office pick whatever you want. All right. I mean you shouldn't say that out loud
01:39:44Nope, I just did. All right. Yeah. Um, yeah, I mean, it's yeah, we got new stuff
01:39:48I got I had new stuff coming anyways, so it wasn't the end of the world
01:39:51But I think I haven't I have a new place set on the back end of grit week. Oh, you're moving
01:39:57Yeah, I got a washer and dryer there and it's my own good. So I got a whole plan doing big laundry for one weekend
01:40:03It's gonna be awesome
01:40:05Excited. I was like your strategy for no clean laundry seems to just be like only buy new clothes
01:40:11Yeah, yeah, that's a total dudes rock moment. Like I there were spiders in the hallway
01:40:15So I just got new clothes and when he says he bought new clothes. I
01:40:20Feel like I bought socks. Okay, but a lot of the clothes
01:40:24From the gambling cave. Yeah
01:40:26A lot of stuff was getting delivered here. Yeah
01:40:30I got some shampoo. I mean we're rocking and rolling now. Yeah, I mean he's just gonna he was gonna be a walking billboard for us
01:40:38I love it. I love it
01:40:40Okay, good show boys grit week starts Sunday night or traveling
01:40:46We'll be visiting a bunch of different camps
01:40:50We're very excited
01:40:52We also will have a meet-and-greet that will let everyone know about when we get it set
01:40:57So good show grit week cited to get back all of us together
01:41:02Let's do numbers
01:41:0420 8 42 12 you want to do 56
01:41:10I want to do 56. Yeah
01:41:1356 well, no now what if it's 8 3 it's not it's not gonna be 8
01:41:19It's gonna be 56. I promise
01:41:3443 43
