00:00:00That's a great ball.
00:00:01They're going to think I was you and you were me.
00:00:03Especially when I take my next pick.
00:00:04Oh no.
00:00:05Oh.
00:00:06Oh.
00:00:07This is going to be very confusing.
00:00:11I'm going to lose because people vote against Hank.
00:00:16On today's part of my take, we've got a twofer for the people.
00:00:20We've got an awesome interview with Jason Wirth in person, MLB legend, won a championship
00:00:28with the Philadelphia Phillies, kind of won a championship with the Nats.
00:00:32Basically.
00:00:33No he didn't.
00:00:34No he basically did.
00:00:35Kinda did.
00:00:36Did not.
00:00:37Which team retired had a ceremony for him to put him in the ring of honor?
00:00:39What did you say?
00:00:40Which team put him in the ring of honor?
00:00:42Your franchise is like five years old.
00:00:43No I just think that's interesting.
00:00:45Also it's the Montreal Expos which goes back a very long time but that's fine.
00:00:49So we have a great interview with Jason Wirth, we have a great interview with Xander Shoffley,
00:00:54open champion, now good friend of the show.
00:00:58You might be on his coaching staff.

00:02:43Today is Friday, July 26th.
00:02:46Is there anything you'd like to say to me, big cat, and to Max, and to Hank, who's not
00:02:51here?
00:02:52What?
00:02:53Happy Uncle's Day.
00:02:54Happy Uncle's Day.
00:02:56Yes.
00:02:57Happy Uncle's Day.
00:02:58Thank you.
00:02:59Thank you.
00:03:00I also am an uncle.
00:03:01Happy Uncle's Day, big cat.
00:03:02Thank you.
00:03:03I should say it to myself.
00:03:04Happy Uncle's Day, yep.
00:03:05Hugh, are you an uncle?
00:03:06Nope.
00:03:07Okay, so you're out.
00:03:08Memes, are you an uncle?
00:03:09I am.
00:03:10Yeah, Memes.
00:03:11Happy Uncle's Day, Memes.
00:03:12Happy Uncle's Day.
00:03:13Hank is not here.
00:03:14We are actually on vacation next week, but we still have all the shows.
00:03:19Next week's schedule, Sunday, PFT and I will be in studio.
00:03:23Max and Hank will be on a much-deserved vacation.
00:03:27Wednesday will be the Takeys, which are phenomenal.
00:03:30I'm fired up.
00:03:3228 Takeys, I think we're giving out.
00:03:34And then Friday, we will have a very, very special guest, and we'll be doing a Zoom show,
00:03:40and then we're off to Grit Week.
00:03:41I'm very excited about what this next week and a half has in store.
00:03:45Yes.
00:03:46Now, it is, we are on vacation next week, but to Hank's defense, it's Wednesday of the
00:03:50week before vacation.
00:03:51Yeah, so he left Wednesday, but that's fine.
00:03:54He did do the Mount Rushmore with us, so we taped three Mount Rushmores, so we'll all
00:03:59be participating.
00:04:00But yeah, Hank, when we were like, hey, we're going to take a vacation last week of July,
00:04:04he's like, great, I'll go the second to last week and the last week.
00:04:08Yeah, yeah, exactly.
00:04:09He deserves it.
00:04:10He's had a tough summer.
00:04:11Which, speaking of, it's such a shame Hank's not here, because boys, I think, I don't,
00:04:19listen, we've been doing this a long time.
00:04:21A lot of the things that we talk about here are from other shows, or we're not claiming,
00:04:27you know, Mount Rushmore, we love doing Mount Rushmore season.
00:04:31Obviously it was a joke when we were like, yeah, we invented Mount Rushmore season.
00:04:33We did not invent Mount Rushmore season.
00:04:35There's a lot of things out there that we are part of, but we don't take credit for
00:04:38inventing stuff, because everyone's got ideas, everyone's doing different things.
00:04:43I do think we had a part in Jason Tatum aura conversation becoming mainstream.
00:04:48Yes, the Jason Tatum conversation has reached its apex.
00:04:51Stephen A. Smith put out a podcast yesterday, and he titled it, you know, you're doing the
00:04:56rundown of what the podcast is going to be featuring.
00:04:59Here's how he described his podcast, another horrifying police shooting.
00:05:03Does Tatum lack aura?
00:05:05So we're going to get to the bottom of maybe both those things at the same time.
00:05:08Yeah, and so Carmelo Anthony also came out and said that Jason Tatum will never be the
00:05:12face of the league because he lacks aura.
00:05:14Anthony Edwards has aura.
00:05:16I'm actually good on it.
00:05:18I'm good on the discussion.
00:05:21We settled it a long time ago.
00:05:23It just was interesting that it's now become like an actual thing that people, the fodder
00:05:28in the middle of July.
00:05:29That's what you got.
00:05:30It is Mount Rushmore season, which we invented as Big Cat said rather, but this is an interesting
00:05:35conversation because it's like, it's undefinable.
00:05:38You can just say whether or not you like the guy or not.
00:05:41Correct.
00:05:42We also began this whole conversation 100% just to piss Hank off.
00:05:48Yeah.
00:05:49I mean, I don't even know what aura means.
00:05:50Everything we've said about Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown to a certain extent has been just
00:05:54to piss Hank off.
00:05:55Yeah.
00:05:56If Hank wasn't here, we'd be like, those guys are fucking awesome.
00:05:58They're probably going to win multiple championships and who the hell cares who gets the MVP and
00:06:03who has the aura.
00:06:04All that matters is winning, but Hank is usually sitting here, so we have to say they probably
00:06:09hate each other and Jason Tatum has no aura.
00:06:11But also to your point, they, uh, in those two questions, Jalen Brown has both those
00:06:16things.
00:06:17Yeah.
00:06:18He does have a lot of aura.
00:06:19He's got, he's got aura.
00:06:20He actually has overflow of aura.
00:06:22Plus a thousand aura.
00:06:23Yeah.
00:06:24What do you, what would you say if you were to do like statistics on Jason Tatum's aura?
00:06:28I'd say he's like negative six 50.
00:06:31Yeah.
00:06:32That sounds about right.
00:06:33I was going to go like minus nine war.
00:06:36Yeah.
00:06:37Wara.
00:06:38Yeah.
00:06:40That's Jalen.
00:06:41Brown's like a plus 28 aura.
00:06:42Yeah.
00:06:43That's the guy.
00:06:44It's hard to replicate.
00:06:45Yeah.
00:06:46Um, all right.
00:06:47So the other things we have going on, it is training camp.
00:06:49So we are starting to get some of the training camp news.
00:06:51We had Jim Harbaugh, uh, welcome everyone to training camp in their new facility, the
00:06:57bolt, which looks incredible.
00:06:59Inspired by lightning.
00:07:00Yup.
00:07:01It looks awesome.
00:07:02Uh, he said training camp feels like being born.
00:07:05It feels like coming out of a womb.
00:07:07It's comfortable.
00:07:08And then poof, you're born.
00:07:09The lights are on.
00:07:10People are looking at you.
00:07:11Yeah.
00:07:12I mean, being born is a lot like training camp for sure.
00:07:15You put your head down, you hit the hole, you just need 10 centimeters of daylight and
00:07:18then you explode.
00:07:20And Harbaugh, I feel like he hears the word labor and he thinks hard work.
00:07:23Yeah.
00:07:24So he was like, yeah, that's what, that's what training camp is.
00:07:26It's work.
00:07:27It's giving birth.
00:07:28I wouldn't be shocked if Harbaugh maybe also gives his players some, you know, breast milk.
00:07:33Oh yeah.
00:07:34Just being like, Hey, we gotta get, we gotta build stronger, stronger bones.
00:07:37What's like the, uh, the pre-cum of breast milk, the liquid gold stuff.
00:07:40I don't know.
00:07:41The stuff that bodybuilders take.
00:07:42Oh, I don't know.
00:07:43It's like a special type of highly concentrated breast milk.
00:07:47I'm sure that Harbaugh's got the boys shooting that up.
00:07:49Yeah.
00:07:50Three yards in a cloud of placenta.
00:07:51That's his offense.
00:07:52Yeah.
00:07:53I always get placenta and paella, um, confused and they're very different.
00:07:56Extremely.
00:07:57Especially the taste.
00:07:58Placenta is delicious.
00:07:59Yeah.
00:08:00Yeah.
00:08:01Um, we had also in Cardinals camp, did you see this Jonathan Gannon?
00:08:04Uh, no, we joke about Jonathan Gannon, but this one had me thinking like he might be
00:08:09in trouble because, and he was kind of being funny, but he said that he and several, uh,
00:08:16staff members did a deep dive on the concept of momentum, apparently going back to wars
00:08:22in the 1800s.
00:08:23Okay.
00:08:24And after all the research, when he was asked about it, uh, if momentum exists, he said,
00:08:29perhaps I have no idea.
00:08:31That's great.
00:08:32That's great.
00:08:33Yeah.
00:08:34There's a lot of research study on it.
00:08:35Wars.
00:08:36And it's undefined.
00:08:37Anytime a football coach comes back from, from summer, uh, for training camp and like,
00:08:41I've been looking at some wars except for the Browns offensive line coach being like
00:08:44the troops didn't stretch where they invaded the beach at Normandy.
00:08:47Yeah.
00:08:48Bob Wiley.
00:08:49It's, it's interesting though that he, he is like trying to figure out whether or not
00:08:51momentum is real by doing a scientific study on momentum.
00:08:54Just ask the sports fan.
00:08:55Just, it might as well just be vibes.
00:08:58Yeah.
00:08:59Like vibes, vibes are real.
00:09:00Ask a gambler.
00:09:01I don't know why they're sitting there and watching a game and they feel it going bad.
00:09:04That's momentum.
00:09:05Like I can tell you when a team that's winning is going to lose the game.
00:09:07Yeah.
00:09:08It's, it's like when they, it's usually when they have a black bird that's on the side
00:09:10of their head and they play in Georgia.
00:09:12Yeah.
00:09:13Yeah.
00:09:14The, it's like 10 years ago, 15 years ago when there was that whole discussion, like
00:09:18clutch actually doesn't exist and like, nah, we've been watching sports a long time.
00:09:23Clutch 100% exists.
00:09:24It definitely exists.
00:09:25But there's no way to explain how some people are just better and like re rise to the occasion
00:09:31and other people don't.
00:09:33Isn't momentum also clearly defined by Isaac Newton?
00:09:36Yeah.
00:09:37Pretty sure it's one of the laws.
00:09:38The one who said momentum is your next day starting pitcher.
00:09:41Yeah.
00:09:42He said, first he said, what the fuck is this apple doing falling on my head?
00:09:45And ow.
00:09:46Yeah.
00:09:47And then he said, yeah, I don't know if, uh, if I can pinch it for Derek Jeter.
00:09:51Yeah.
00:09:52Yeah.
00:09:53So momentum's real.
00:09:54It's definitely real.
00:09:55Yeah.
00:09:56And also in sports, like vibes are a hundred percent of thing in war.
00:09:59I think they call it, what do they call it?
00:10:00Just when your team's down the, uh, it's a French term, the spirit, the spirit decor
00:10:05or something like that.
00:10:06Okay.
00:10:07If you're, if your army's pissed off and they're lazy and they don't want to go fight, they're
00:10:10going to get their ass kicked.
00:10:11Yeah.
00:10:12So if you're getting your ass kicked and that means you're more likely to get your ass kicked.
00:10:16Yeah, exactly.
00:10:17Um, other training camp notes I wrote down for you, Dan Campbell has the biggest podium
00:10:21ever.
00:10:22Yeah.
00:10:23I love that they built that for him.
00:10:24He basically built the podium so big that he can't break it with his hands.
00:10:27Cause I think they were probably nervous that if he gets upset and he like pounds his fist,
00:10:33he'll break the podium.
00:10:34It's a solid podium.
00:10:35It's an indestructible podium.
00:10:36I like the unsinkable podium, Titanic.
00:10:39I like it with Dan Campbell.
00:10:40I would love it if it was like Mike McDaniel behind that giant podium.
00:10:44Yeah.
00:10:45It would just be so funny because of how big it would be, how small he would be.
00:10:47He get lost.
00:10:48I think that might be podium of the year for next year.
00:10:50Yeah.
00:10:51It's, it is.
00:10:52Yeah.
00:10:53We're getting into the takeys, but it came too late.
00:10:54Um, Lincoln Riley said he's coming quickly.
00:10:57They're coming quickly.
00:10:58Uh, it was about baseball.
00:11:00Weird seeing, seeing like all USC and UCLA and Oregon and Washington, the big 10 media
00:11:05day.
00:11:06Um, we got a lot of media days going on.
00:11:08What was the context behind we're coming quickly?
00:11:11I think it was talking about like, well, are they going to orgasm?
00:11:14Okay.
00:11:15Yeah.
00:11:16That's unusual for someone who represents the Trojans to say that.
00:11:18Yeah.
00:11:19Usually that's a while.
00:11:20Yeah.
00:11:22So, uh, maybe ribbed for her.
00:11:23His pleasure.
00:11:24His pleasure on the inside.
00:11:25Yeah.
00:11:26But, uh, and then the, I think that was all the training camp.
00:11:28Oh, we had our first training camp fight chiefs.
00:11:30Uh, no, no.
00:11:31Oh, incorrect.
00:11:32First training camp fight was the Houston Texans.
00:11:35Oh, which I think we said on the show that if the AFC South was going to be, yeah, they
00:11:39always do the fight.
00:11:40Uh, then the chiefs had one too.
00:11:41Chiefs had one as well.
00:11:42Interesting.
00:11:43Uh, I saw the Jerry Jones talk today.
00:11:45What do you say?
00:11:46He addressed the media.
00:11:47AI Jerry Jones.
00:11:48Real, real, real Jerry Jones.
00:11:49Not dead.
00:11:50Jerry Jones.
00:11:52He was talking about the, the DAC extension and the CD lamb extensions that he's working
00:11:55on.
00:11:56And then he compared himself to Patrick Mahomes.
00:11:58He said, if you have an option quarterback like Patrick Mahomes, famous option quarterback
00:12:03that we all know, uh, you want to wait to make your decision until the defense gets
00:12:07up on you and then you can make your choice.
00:12:09Huh?
00:12:10And he also said he's all, he's more all in than he's ever been.
00:12:13Oh, so he's like, wait, he's been very all in.
00:12:15He is balls deep in.
00:12:17He's been all in every single year for the last 20 years to nothing to show for it.
00:12:23Well, he's been also, uh, he's been distracted recently, shall we say, with his paternity
00:12:27lawsuit.
00:12:28Oh yeah.
00:12:29What ended up happening?
00:12:30He's like the father.
00:12:31I don't think he's, well, either he's the dad and doesn't have to pay for it or he's
00:12:33not the dad.
00:12:34Got it.
00:12:35So, uh, he's saying because he doesn't have those distractions, he's going to be able
00:12:38to commit a hundred percent of his time to the team to being all in, which is apparently
00:12:42a good thing in his mind.
00:12:43Okay.
00:12:44Yeah.
00:12:45Yeah.
00:12:46You don't want him all in.
00:12:48So, uh, how mad would you be if the Cowboys got actually good max with that?
00:12:51Like, cause it's, it's kind of a fascinating thing to think about because the Cowboys have
00:12:55not been a threat, an actual threat in a long time.
00:12:59I know that they have had good seasons, they've won a couple of playoff games, but they have
00:13:05not been to an NFC championship game since the nineties.
00:13:07Correct?
00:13:081996.
00:13:09Right.
00:13:10So I don't know about, yeah, that sounds right.
00:13:11Yeah.
00:13:12That's when they won their last Superbowl.
00:13:13Yeah.
00:13:14So would it, would it destroy you?
00:13:17I don't know.
00:13:18I got one more year.
00:13:19No NFC team ever goes back to back.
00:13:20So I'm, I'm, I'm good for this year.
00:13:22You need this.
00:13:23You need this year.
00:13:24You're right.
00:13:25BFD.
00:13:26Yeah.
00:13:27No one.
00:13:28We just trade off.
00:13:29Yeah.
00:13:30Everyone trades since 2006.
00:13:31It's crazy.
00:13:32So I haven't had a back to back chance.
00:13:33So the Cowboys can't win it when the NFC is this year.
00:13:35They can't take them off your list.
00:13:38Not going to happen.
00:13:39Not going to happen.
00:13:40Yeah.
00:13:41And the commanders are going to rise up and we're going to dominate them.
00:13:42It's going to be great.
00:13:43And nothing's ever going to hurt again.
00:13:45Yeah.
00:13:47Baseball news.
00:13:48So what was the clip that you just showed?
00:13:51The the Colorado Rockies since 2004 is the last time the NFC East had back to back champions.
00:14:00This was a very funny clip because it was, it was a Red Sox Rockies and the relief pitcher
00:14:06yelled at the batter.
00:14:08Yeah.
00:14:09You jerked off in a parking lot.
00:14:10Who was the batter?
00:14:11I don't know, but I looked up and he did in fact jerk off in a parking lot.
00:14:15Was it Kellen Winslow?
00:14:16It's, it was, it's one of those ones that you just hope never becomes a viral clip because
00:14:21I didn't know who that guy was and then I looked it up and I was like, oh, he did jerk
00:14:25off in a parking lot.
00:14:26That's, that's gotta suck going to the ballpark every day being like, someone might say I
00:14:31jerked off in a parking lot and they wouldn't be wrong.
00:14:33And it probably didn't happen that much until this pitcher said it and it was clearly caught
00:14:37on camera.
00:14:38By the way, shout out McGuire.
00:14:39Shout out to whoever did the lip reading for it because you did America a wonderful service.
00:14:44Now every fan is going to know that's the guy that jerked off in a parking lot.
00:14:47I did not know until that moment.
00:14:48Is it Reese McGuire?
00:14:49Yes.
00:14:50Yeah.
00:14:51Reese McGuire.
00:14:52Uh, he jerked off in a parking lot.
00:14:54Confirmed by this pitcher.
00:14:56I think it was, who was the pitcher who yelled it was Quintrell.
00:14:59Yeah.
00:15:00Cal Quantrell.
00:15:01There we go, Huey.
00:15:02I love how you said that.
00:15:04Yeah, I do too.
00:15:05I also, uh, yeah, Reese McGuire.
00:15:07He, uh, he jerked off in a parking lot.
00:15:10That's interesting.
00:15:11Uh, I, the other baseball thing I want to talk about real quick, and this is, we don't
00:15:15have memes as a Mets fan, um, but the Yankees, I saw our good friend Tommy smokes this morning
00:15:23and I've known Tommy now for seven years and I think for every single moment of those seven
00:15:28years I've seen him tweet.
00:15:31This is the game that Brian Cashman and Aaron Boone are getting fired yet.
00:15:35The Yankees will never fire either of those guys.
00:15:39And Aaron Boone even said, after getting killed by the Mets, I think they got swept by the
00:15:42Mets this, this, uh, season, uh, he said, one of the things I really liked tonight was
00:15:48how hooked up we were in the dugout in the eighth and ninth inning.
00:15:51I'm not worried about the compete level with these guys.
00:15:53This is talking about a game where they lost like 12 to three, I believe.
00:15:57So I don't know what it is with the Yankees, but these guys stink and they like the, I'm
00:16:04talking about Aaron Boone and Brian Cashman and they're never getting rid of them.
00:16:07As a two week Yankee fan, I think.
00:16:10What was the two week Yankee fan thing, by the way?
00:16:12Explain that.
00:16:13I was sold on the, um, the, the, the, the high class and the high, the history, the
00:16:21pinstripes, the pinstripe, the Derek Jeter's of the world.
00:16:23When was the two weeks?
00:16:24Uh, the first two weeks of the season, they were hot coming out the gate.
00:16:29They looked good.
00:16:30Uh, and then I stopped Karen and then they started to kind of took us up a couple of
00:16:35slumps and bumps.
00:16:37But at the end of the day, I think Cashman and Boone, uh, you know, they're going to
00:16:40always be on the hot seat.
00:16:41And at the end of the day, the team's, you know, it's not even that horrible.
00:16:44We have a two week Yankee.
00:16:45I generally think, but you said it'd be all right.
00:16:47You said once you stopped caring about him, then they went to a slump.
00:16:50You have to start caring about him again.
00:16:53This is what I have to do for that team to, to be great.
00:16:55I'll, I'll, I'll walk for them to run.
00:16:57I like how Brian Cashman, how, uh, they, they got off to a hot start.
00:17:00You're right.
00:17:01But his strategy is basically sign the best players and pay them the most money, which
00:17:05isn't really the mark of a good general manager.
00:17:07Just a general manager.
00:17:08That's got a rich dad.
00:17:09Yeah.
00:17:10Yeah, exactly.
00:17:11So, so Hugh, you are, you are a football and a basketball guy.
00:17:14You're not really a baseball guy.
00:17:16Just this season.
00:17:17You were like, I'm going to give this Yankee thing a shot.
00:17:19Yeah.
00:17:20Like I, I was watching the playoffs last year and you know, I got kind of sold on like baseball
00:17:25and then, Oh, you were not sold on baseball until last year.
00:17:28Yeah.
00:17:29Yeah.
00:17:30It took, it took last season to kind of be like, Oh, this thing, you know, it moved faster.
00:17:31Okay.
00:17:32So how much of the Yankees in the post season sold you on the Yankees?
00:17:35Not last, but it was the, the potential.
00:17:36I'm like, well, look at what this team is in the regular season.
00:17:40Imagine if they're good and you know, it matters when they're playing.
00:17:43How much baseball had you watched the previous 25 years of your life?
00:17:47Four months, maybe four months, a game here, a game there, you know, it's very specific.
00:17:52Wait, four months.
00:17:53Like cumulative four months.
00:17:54Yeah.
00:17:55Like if I had to, that's a lot of games, but that's not like 24 seven.
00:17:59That's just like a, a day here, day there, a game here, a game there.
00:18:03Okay.
00:18:04And then two week Yankee fan.
00:18:05And then two weeks I was, I was watching every game for two weeks.
00:18:07You just stopped?
00:18:08No.
00:18:09I did.
00:18:10I watched every single game.
00:18:11And then you just stopped.
00:18:12And then I was like, this, what am I doing?
00:18:13Yeah.
00:18:14Okay.
00:18:15Two week Yankee fan.
00:18:16Yeah.
00:18:17The, the Yankees.
00:18:18I know that the fans are really, really pissed off, but I don't, I think that there's a solution
00:18:21to this.
00:18:22I think that you have to give Aaron Boone an extension and show that you believe in him.
00:18:25Yeah.
00:18:26And then the rest of the clubhouse is going to truly believe in him too.
00:18:28Then you'll be fine.
00:18:29You might, you might have a lame duck otherwise.
00:18:31Yeah, exactly.
00:18:32He kind of is a lame duck, right?
00:18:33I think he's got like a, uh, he's got a club option for next year.
00:18:37So you gotta do it.
00:18:38So you gotta do it.
00:18:39Extend Aaron Boone.
00:18:40I got a question for you.
00:18:42The Olympics started, how are we doing in rugby?
00:18:44So right now we're waiting for the quarterfinals.
00:18:46We made it to the knockout stage and the U.S. is playing Australia.
00:18:50We won.
00:18:51Is Australia good?
00:18:52Yeah, they're very good.
00:18:53Shit.
00:18:54They're probably going to win.
00:18:55We won a game, lost a game, tied a game.
00:18:56Oh, that's perfect for us.
00:18:57Yeah.
00:18:58And we finished, I believe second in our group, which means that we kind of won.
00:19:01So we moved on to the knockout stage.
00:19:03I think, I don't know.
00:19:05I think, uh, I don't want to make any predictions because we're watching the games right now,
00:19:09but I like both Fiji and Ireland.
00:19:11Whoever wins this game, I think is going to win it.
00:19:13Oh, yeah.
00:19:14Okay.
00:19:15But it's been, it's been awesome to watch.
00:19:16Like the whole office has been watching sevens and I wish that it had more of a primetime
00:19:20spot.
00:19:21I wish that it wasn't.
00:19:22I wish it was happening during the Olympics.
00:19:23I wish it wasn't the appetizer for the Olympics.
00:19:24Right.
00:19:25Like this deserves.
00:19:26Get this, get this in like a Friday night, Saturday night.
00:19:29Right.
00:19:30And, um, oh, by the way, you got the nationals got no hit today.
00:19:34Yeah, we did.
00:19:35And you know what?
00:19:36Thing about me, guy like me, when we get no hit, I say that we got no hit.
00:19:39Yeah.
00:19:40We got no hit by C's.
00:19:41Whoa.
00:19:42One guy, one guy threw it.
00:19:43Yeah.
00:19:44But they, they, well, no, but they got no hits.
00:19:45We got no hit.
00:19:46Remember when you think about me.
00:19:47What happened in yours?
00:19:48What happened in yours?
00:19:49Did you get any hits?
00:19:50Okay.
00:19:51Exactly.
00:19:52That big down boy.
00:19:53That's basically, we just took out the newspaper and we just kind of held it over the dog's
00:19:59snout.
00:20:00And he's just like, all right, I'm going to lay down.
00:20:01That's what we call accountability.
00:20:02Max.
00:20:03That's as close as you'll get to Max admitting it, by the way, it's just, he's just slinking
00:20:07back.
00:20:08Yeah.
00:20:09He shrunk.
00:20:10He did.
00:20:11We've had this argument for two years now and he just didn't see the, well, how did you
00:20:15guys get a hit?
00:20:16Yeah.
00:20:17Question coming.
00:20:18Never saw that part coming.
00:20:19It was a Dylan cease.
00:20:21Yeah.
00:20:22Dylan cease.
00:20:23Fantastic.
00:20:24Um, yeah, I'm, I baseball, I tried to, I tried to give.
00:20:30I was basically like, all-star breaks, a nice reset.
00:20:32The Cubs have been bad.
00:20:33And I was like, I'm going to, I'm going to give my all for this next week to see if the
00:20:38Cubs can maybe win a few games and get back in this.
00:20:42I went on Monday night.
00:20:44They're so bad.
00:20:45Their foul balls are bad.
00:20:47They don't even hit foul balls.
00:20:48Well, like not good contact.
00:20:49Is that what you're correct?
00:20:51They suck at hitting the baseball.
00:20:53So when they very important part of baseball, that's probably the most important part.
00:20:56Yeah.
00:20:57Well, no, they're really good at pitching the baseball.
00:21:00They're just really bad at hitting the baseball.
00:21:01Hitting the baseball is important, especially when you pitch the baseball.
00:21:06Well, all you need to do is hit the baseball a little bit and they can't even do that.
00:21:09Ideally you'd like to combine the two.
00:21:11Yeah.
00:21:12It's all so boring.
00:21:14It's boring.
00:21:15Watching the Cubs play is so boring.
00:21:16They don't have it.
00:21:17Like they don't have anything.
00:21:19I I've said it a million times.
00:21:21I like when, when we talked about with Aaron Rodgers, what the Cubs or the bears?
00:21:26No, no, no.
00:21:27They've grown up into.
00:21:28They won.
00:21:29They won.
00:21:30They won.
00:21:31They won in 2016.
00:21:32I'm saying like their, their style of play.
00:21:33Oh, right now.
00:21:34Yeah.
00:21:35They're, they're, they're, they're so play, but they have not historically, I mean, yeah,
00:21:38they're not good historically, but they did win in the last decade.
00:21:42Uh, when we were talking to Aaron Rodgers about how often guys think about, uh, the
00:21:47Roman empire and how that whole meme started and everyone's like, ask your boyfriend how
00:21:52often he thinks about the Roman empire.
00:21:54For me, it's how often I think about Kyle Schwarber still being on the Cubs.
00:21:59Yeah.
00:22:00That's a almost daily occurrence for me.
00:22:02He's in my brain.
00:22:03He's such a joy to root for.
00:22:04If you're going to have a team that, uh, even if it's not that good, having Schwarber on
00:22:07the team is just so much fun.
00:22:10Just one, a big boy that steps up to the plate and mashes one bat that would make the other
00:22:14pitcher not be like, Oh, I'm fine.
00:22:17This is an easy out.
00:22:18That'd be so sick to root for him.
00:22:20Shut up.
00:22:21He also wouldn't tolerate other guys not hitting the ball.
00:22:23Well, right.
00:22:24You'd just be like, dude, just do what I do.
00:22:26Just mash.
00:22:27Just spank a ball.
00:22:28He'd be, yeah, he'd be pissed off the Cubs.
00:22:31Um, in the last, let's see, in the last six games, two runs, zero runs, two runs, three
00:22:39runs, zero runs, two runs.
00:22:41That's bad.
00:22:42It's really bad.
00:22:43Boring baseball.
00:22:44And they don't give up runs.
00:22:45So it's like every loss is a three, two loss or a two, one loss.
00:22:49It's brutal.
00:22:51It's kind of the same in every sport where you'd, if your team's going to be bad or,
00:22:55or mediocre, you'd rather it be the opposite where they're great on offense and stinks
00:22:59have play softball games.
00:23:00Yeah.
00:23:01Just because you can have fun watching the correct.
00:23:03There's a lot going on.
00:23:04Correct.
00:23:05Um, there, I saw a stat the other day.
00:23:06This is, um, back to football real quick.
00:23:08I think the Dan Levitard show pointed this out, but I wanted to make memes aware of it.
00:23:12Um, memes.
00:23:14Do you know that the, uh, the Indianapolis Colts have more AFC titles than the New York
00:23:19Jets do?
00:23:21Yeah.
00:23:22That was going around this season.
00:23:23Yeah.
00:23:24AFC memes.
00:23:25I stand with you.
00:23:26Don't let them do shame.
00:23:27Statistics.
00:23:28No shame.
00:23:29Statistics are the lamest thing you can do.
00:23:30I thought you guys saw it earlier in the year and we're going to bring it up, but I would
00:23:35never bring that up.
00:23:36Memes.
00:23:37I've, I fucking live.
00:23:38All I have to deal with every single day is insult stats.
00:23:41Yeah.
00:23:42We got to stick together.
00:23:43Yeah.
00:23:44Insult stats are not cool.
00:23:45We just got to turn the Intel stats on the Patriots.
00:23:47See, see something, say something.
00:23:48If you see someone using an insult stat, insult them back.
00:23:51I kind of like using them on the Patriots though.
00:23:54You can use them on a, on the chiefs, Patriots, any team that's won more than two Super Bowls
00:23:58in the last 20 years.
00:23:59Yeah.
00:24:00Well, cause then they have something to defend.
00:24:01Yeah.
00:24:02Like I don't have, when people, the insults were about to get to the time of year where
00:24:06the bears not having a 3000 yard passer or what, 4,000, I can't remember, 4,000, 4,030.
00:24:12It's 30 touchdowns, 4,000.
00:24:15That's going to start going everywhere.
00:24:16Yeah.
00:24:17So insult stats suck.
00:24:19Yeah.
00:24:20They're back.
00:24:21They're not, they're not nice.
00:24:22Um, all right, before we do Mount Rushmore and Hank is involved in this, I wanted to
00:24:25do one thing.
00:24:26PFT.
00:24:27I told you this.
00:24:28I was going to save this for you.
00:24:29Um, I got to talking to Huey the other day and uh, our boy Huey's working on a script.
00:24:36Okay.
00:24:37And I want you to hear the script cause I think we need to make the pilot for this.
00:24:41Okay.
00:24:42Okay.
00:24:43So Huey, the floor is yours.
00:24:44How long have you been working on this script?
00:24:46Um, technically speaking about six months.
00:24:49Okay.
00:24:50And how many pages do we have?
00:24:51One.
00:24:52Okay.
00:24:53Okay.
00:24:54When you say technically, what does that mean?
00:24:55Uh, I started it six months ago and I did one page that day.
00:24:57Oh, so it was all one day.
00:24:59I've gone back and edited.
00:25:00They can kind of, you know, added some lines, take, added some subscriptions and stuff,
00:25:04but that page and it's subscriptions, descriptions, descriptions.
00:25:09You're a perfectionist.
00:25:10It sounds like.
00:25:11Yeah.
00:25:12I want it to be realistic.
00:25:13I want it to be, you know, make you be able to believe that you're in the story.
00:25:15Okay.
00:25:16So what was the inspiration for the script?
00:25:18Um, basketball.
00:25:19Yeah.
00:25:20Okay.
00:25:21Yeah.
00:25:22So go ahead.
00:25:23Tell them, tell them, tell them what the, you know, pitch is.
00:25:25All right.
00:25:26So, uh, show's called high up in the mountains.
00:25:28Uh, it's about two brothers.
00:25:30Uh, one looks very similar to me.
00:25:32The other, uh, the inspiration behind the other one, um, is by a rapper by the name
00:25:36of Shakewell, uh, who looks very similar to Max Delente.
00:25:40Oh.
00:25:41Um, but, uh, so Shakewell, like a milkshake, like something
00:25:45that you'd see on, yeah, like a, a SlimFast.
00:25:48Yeah.
00:25:49Yeah.
00:25:50He's a big goofy guy.
00:25:51Got it.
00:25:52Um, so it's about two brothers, uh, one named Carmelo, the other Anthony, and they were
00:25:58born two days before he got traded to the Knicks.
00:26:02Okay.
00:26:03And so, you know, that's why their dad, not, not the best of guys grew up to resent them,
00:26:08you know, cause.
00:26:09They live in Denver.
00:26:10Yeah.
00:26:11They live in, yeah, they live in Denver.
00:26:13Now he's got to be reminded of, you know, his two shit stain kids, you know, Carmelo
00:26:16and Anthony.
00:26:17Yeah.
00:26:18And, and then long story short, life goes on, uh, dad starts to meet another woman.
00:26:24They have a kid, that kid, guess what he names that kid?
00:26:28Tebow.
00:26:29Nicola.
00:26:30Oh.
00:26:31And so now there's not enough room for Carmelo and Anthony, so they got, they're getting
00:26:35kicked out.
00:26:36So now the story is, you know, these two, you know, shit brains kind of having to figure
00:26:39out life, you know, on their own, high up in the mountains named Carmelo and Anthony.
00:26:44I I'm in.
00:26:45Yeah.
00:26:46I'm a hundred percent.
00:26:47We got to make it.
00:26:48There's not, there's, I did point out when I heard this, that the, the, the years between
00:26:53Carmelo Anthony getting traded from the Nuggets to the Knicks and Jokic getting drafted by
00:26:57the Nuggets is significant.
00:26:59So the timeline doesn't add up.
00:27:00So no, well, it's just, that's more room for the script.
00:27:03Well, Jokic was drafted in 14 and then you got to think, you know, you add another six,
00:27:07seven years before he starts to like really start to be in the final conversation and
00:27:11MVP and it takes a couple of six years.
00:27:13So by then, you know, they're pushing 18.
00:27:16Okay.
00:27:17So, you know, it's right on, right on that part right there.
00:27:19So, and then the Carmelo and Anthony resent their baby brother.
00:27:23Yeah.
00:27:24Cause yeah.
00:27:25Cool.
00:27:26So do they, do they move to New York?
00:27:27Well, I haven't gotten that for you.
00:27:28Oh yeah.
00:27:29I'm open.
00:27:30This is actually a lot of script for just one page.
00:27:31Wait, what do you mean you haven't gotten that far yet?
00:27:33Because they already in where you've gotten to Carmelo's already retired.
00:27:37Yeah.
00:27:38No, I mean like, no, in theory.
00:27:41Yeah.
00:27:42I haven't written all of this.
00:27:43Right.
00:27:44You've only written one page.
00:27:45The theory, the direction is this.
00:27:46Right.
00:27:47This is where we're going.
00:27:48The end of the episode is going to, by the end of the episode, we're going to have all
00:27:50this laid out and we're going to have kind of the path of.
00:27:53Is this all happening in the first episode?
00:27:55Not all of it, but again, the pilot's going to really have to lay down a lot of what these
00:28:00guys are, their story, you know, and then, you know, them getting kicked out and then
00:28:05that kind of where that ends.
00:28:06And then we'll pick up episode two kind of.
00:28:08So it's a TV show.
00:28:10So you have like a season.
00:28:11Yeah.
00:28:12Yeah.
00:28:13Many episodes as it needs.
00:28:14I have a question.
00:28:15Yeah.
00:28:16Yeah.
00:28:17Is there a time jump in the first episode?
00:28:18Yeah.
00:28:19There has to be.
00:28:20Well, no.
00:28:21I mean, yeah, there's the first little like 30 seconds is like, you know, them as babies,
00:28:26you know, and then it's Carmelo and Anthony and then bang, you know, two days later, Camilo
00:28:30gets traded and then it's like, all right.
00:28:32And then it's a quick time jump.
00:28:34It cuts to these kids, you know, smoking weed in the car.
00:28:37Oh, so there is a time jump.
00:28:39Yeah.
00:28:40But for like, again, 20 seconds, it's the first like 20, like you just get introduced
00:28:42to babies.
00:28:43We're in present day.
00:28:44And then boom.
00:28:45Yeah.
00:28:46Now we're in present day.
00:28:47Yeah.
00:28:48These kids are present day.
00:28:49Yes.
00:28:50Yes.
00:28:51All right.
00:28:52I got a question.
00:28:53I don't want to completely poopoo your script here because I think that maybe we should
00:28:54make it.
00:28:55When Carmelo was traded to the New York Knicks, did the father think about just changing their
00:29:00name?
00:29:01No, no, no, no, no.
00:29:02He signed the birth certificate a couple of days earlier.
00:29:05So officially, you know, and again, the dad, what we're going to find out from father is
00:29:09he's not the brightest.
00:29:10Okay.
00:29:11Okay.
00:29:12And that he's at the end of the day, it's more about the reminder of what he did wrong
00:29:15and he kind of blames himself.
00:29:17Okay.
00:29:18So when he named the new baby, Nicola, did he do that right when Jokic got drafted?
00:29:23He did that kind of late, late 2019, you know, as he started to emerge, it was like, this
00:29:28is the guy.
00:29:29He wasn't going to make the same mistake again.
00:29:30He wanted to make sure he was committed full time.
00:29:34This was going to be the guy.
00:29:35So we're going to have to find like a four-year-old actor for Nicola.
00:29:38Correct.
00:29:39Yeah.
00:29:40Yeah.
00:29:41Okay.
00:29:42Just wanted to make sure that that's the path.
00:29:43Yeah.
00:29:44Yep.
00:29:45A four-year-old for Nicola.
00:29:46Hot mom.
00:29:47Shit head dad.
00:29:48And then two guys that look like you and me.
00:29:49It's going to be hard.
00:29:50We got to figure out how we're going to find two guys that look just like me and you.
00:29:56Okay.
00:29:57Okay.
00:29:59I think we need to make this pilot.
00:30:00Every sitcom needs just a wacky neighbor too.
00:30:02Okay.
00:30:03Put the wacky neighbor in there.
00:30:04Yeah.
00:30:05We could do it.
00:30:06There's a lot of wacky people in this office.
00:30:07Yeah.
00:30:08Bosco plays wacky neighbor.
00:30:09Yeah.
00:30:10Wacky neighbor is named...
00:30:11J.R.?
00:30:12J.R.?
00:30:13J.R. Smith?
00:30:14Yeah.
00:30:15I'm trying to think.
00:30:16Birdman?
00:30:17Birdman?
00:30:18Birdman would be a good one.
00:30:19Oh, Birdman would be good.
00:30:20JaVale?
00:30:21I was just thinking, what would an enemy be to like a nugget?
00:30:23Kobe?
00:30:24Sauce?
00:30:25Kobe.
00:30:26Yeah.
00:30:27Kobe could live next door.
00:30:28Yeah.
00:30:29Well, he shouldn't be in Colorado.
00:30:30Okay.
00:30:31We'll figure it out.
00:30:32All right.
00:30:33We'll work on it.
00:30:34Yeah.
00:30:35So, I wanted you to hear that.
00:30:36We will make a pilot.
00:30:37We will make a sizzle reel.
00:30:38I don't know if we have enough for more than like 45 seconds.
00:30:39It might just be 45 seconds of sizzle reel.
00:30:40It would be good.
00:30:41I don't know.
00:30:42I don't know.
00:30:43I don't know.
00:30:44Just keep it going.
00:30:45It's a good idea.
00:30:46It's a good idea.
00:30:47All right.
00:30:48I will...
00:30:49I will...
00:30:50I will.
00:30:51It might just be 45 seconds of time jumps.
00:30:53Maybe a short film.
00:30:54Yeah, make the entire show out of the montage.
00:30:57Let's just time jump the entire show.
00:30:59Like how so?
00:31:01Like every minute it's like, we don't know where we are in time.
00:31:06Okay.
00:31:07And also it should have a lot of NBA highlights in it.
00:31:10Yes.
00:31:11Like of Carmelo Anthony and then of Nicola Jokic.
00:31:13It should actually be mostly highlights.
00:31:15Should it be like each year of their life?
00:31:17Yeah.
00:31:18Each time jump?
00:31:19Another year of like Carmelo, you know, doing something great in New York and their dad
00:31:22turning to them, these fucking kids, you know, and then next year it's like, oh, Carmelo
00:31:26Anthony 2013 Knicks, you know, we got something and he's just reminded of his kids.
00:31:30Yeah.
00:31:31Maybe it's something like that.
00:31:32And they could have like a little robot sidekick named AI and it's got braids like Allen Iverson.
00:31:37Yeah.
00:31:38I like this because who doesn't want to watch a sitcom about like the mid-2010s Nuggets?
00:31:48Denver, Colorado.
00:31:49Yeah.
00:31:50Yeah.
00:31:51Great time and place.
00:31:52Can you tell me how you came up with this idea?
00:31:53Um, cause you're not a Nuggets fan.
00:31:56No.
00:31:57So my, my theory is a lot of your theory of how you came up with this idea.
00:32:02Yeah.
00:32:03It all comes together.
00:32:04Um, I think that like the best shows ever, ever are like, you know, like Simpsons, family
00:32:10guy, office friends, normal people, normal people, normal environments, normal places.
00:32:15So two, two kind of shit staying Simpsons and family guy are cartoons.
00:32:20Yeah.
00:32:21But the family, right?
00:32:22Yeah.
00:32:23Yeah.
00:32:24Yeah.
00:32:25Okay.
00:32:26Um, there's, there's a talking dog and family and a talking baby.
00:32:30Family guys, bad, bad.
00:32:31It matters.
00:32:32It's about the fact that it's regular people that we can all relate to.
00:32:36Yeah.
00:32:37Maybe you're not a stoner, but you, you've seen these two and you've seen those types
00:32:41of kids around.
00:32:42And now instead of, you know, it being like a sad existence, so confused, what, what types
00:32:48of kids, you know, stoners, Oh, Oh, Carmelo and Anthony, I was still looking at the family
00:32:55guy.
00:32:56No, sorry.
00:32:57I was, I'm moving on.
00:32:58Yeah.
00:32:59Uh, and those types, but you know, the backstory of that's usually kind of sadder than, you
00:33:02know, it's like a little bit more like, yeah, but this is kind of funny, you know, it's
00:33:05just Carmelo and Anthony, you know, the resentment doesn't come from like, you know, a fucking
00:33:09divorce or something.
00:33:10Right.
00:33:12You're naming your kids.
00:33:13Yeah.
00:33:14Yeah.
00:33:15And then you're dumb enough to not like try to change it.
00:33:16Yeah.
00:33:17It's just, yeah.
00:33:18It's the look.
00:33:19I don't think this answered the question.
00:33:20It's really a story about like, yeah, I don't know how I was trying to figure out how you
00:33:24decided that the Denver nuggets would be like the perfect, I just needed a name that had
00:33:29two first names.
00:33:30Oh, okay.
00:33:31That's it.
00:33:32I knew that was going to be it.
00:33:33That's it.
00:33:34That would all make sense.
00:33:35Yeah.
00:33:36And weed legal in Colorado.
00:33:37Oh.
00:33:38Two for two.
00:33:39And I went with it.
00:33:41Got it.
00:33:42So you kind of started with just anyone who's got two first names and we'll just figure
00:33:46out the rest.
00:33:47We'll figure out the story.
00:33:48Got it.
00:33:49Yeah.
00:33:50Okay.
00:33:51I like it.
00:33:52I'm in.
00:33:53Thank you.
00:33:54Yeah.
00:33:55I knew you would be.
00:33:56I think this sounds lucrative.
00:33:57Yeah.
00:33:58Yeah.
00:33:59By the way, do you understand the new NBA deal?
00:34:00It's on every channel now.
00:34:01So they extended with ESPN Disney, right?
00:34:02Yeah.
00:34:03And then Peacock and NBC.
00:34:04This is what, this is what the leagues are doing.
00:34:06Amazon.
00:34:07I heard that Amazon's getting, this might be rumor.
00:34:11Amazon's going to get one of the conference finals every couple, every two years on Amazon
00:34:14prime.
00:34:15This is what the leagues are doing.
00:34:16They're just, they're, they're chopping it up and they're, they're cutting it and they're
00:34:20selling a bunch of NBA to us that we have to buy individually.
00:34:23Yeah.
00:34:24So I want to know if you were to, if you were to be able to watch every NBA game and every
00:34:29NFL game, how much per year does that cost you to be a sports fan?
00:34:34Right.
00:34:35I feel like that's the real inflation in the United States right now.
00:34:37It's becoming expensive to be a sports fan.
00:34:39They're pricing a lot of people out of watching sports and that shouldn't be right and we
00:34:44should do something about it and we won't.
00:34:46We won't.
00:34:47We'll just pay for all the stuff they make us pay for.
00:34:49But I am, I'd like the record to show that I'm upset about it.
00:34:52Yeah.
00:34:53Yeah.
00:34:54I'd like the record to show that, uh, I'm mad, mad, we're mad.
00:35:00I'm mad as hell and I'm going to keep taking it.
00:35:02Yup.
00:35:03Not going to do a thing.
00:35:04Yup.
00:35:05I can do a goddamn thing.
00:35:06Um, okay.
00:35:07Let's get to our Mount Rushmore.
00:35:08Let's do our Mount Rushmore.

00:36:05Time for Mount Rushmore of round things.
00:36:08Okay.
00:36:10Time for Mount Rushmore.
00:36:12It is time for the Mount Rushmore of round things.
00:36:18Mount Rushmore of round things.
00:36:21Hank, you kind of groaned when we came up with this idea.
00:36:24Are you not into round things?
00:36:27What are you talking about?
00:36:29I mean, that just didn't happen.
00:36:30That was cap.
00:36:31That was cap.
00:36:32Do you like this Mount Rushmore?
00:36:33I do.
00:36:35Yeah.
00:36:36You like it?
00:36:37I like the open-ended one.
00:36:38Okay.
00:36:39I love it.
00:36:40All right.
00:36:41Round things are actually enclosed.
00:36:42They're very much enclosed.
00:36:43So this might be a struggle for you.
00:36:44All right.
00:36:45So I have first pick.
00:36:46Oh.
00:36:47I have first pick.
00:36:48There's so many good picks.
00:36:49There's a lot of good round things.
00:36:50There's so many good round things.
00:36:51I'm going to try to keep it just basic, simple, run the ball, Mount Rushmore of round things,
00:36:58a pizza.
00:36:59That's a good pick.
00:37:00Pizza.
00:37:01That was my one, one.
00:37:02It's a beautiful round thing.
00:37:03Yeah.
00:37:05There's just nothing better.
00:37:06Yeah.
00:37:07Good choice.
00:37:08That was my one, one as well.
00:37:09I thought I would get it for sure.
00:37:10Feel good.
00:37:11Because I assumed you were going to take doughnuts.
00:37:12Yeah.
00:37:13That was also on there.
00:37:14But I was like, pizza is just, listen, I love doughnuts.
00:37:18I love doughnuts.
00:37:19But if it's pizza or doughnuts for the rest of your life, you'd have to take pizza.
00:37:23Yeah.
00:37:24I would agree with that.
00:37:25Like, I'm just being honest.
00:37:26Like, I love doughnuts, but you can't eat doughnuts every single day.
00:37:29You could eat pizza almost every day.
00:37:31Burrito actually, you could eat more.
00:37:32I don't know if you'd be able to eat a pizza every day.
00:37:34That would get old real fast.
00:37:35Also.
00:37:36What if you took one bite?
00:37:37No.
00:37:38Old.
00:37:39People would get sick of that.
00:37:40You would never eat.
00:37:41Pizzas are round.
00:37:42I'm not objecting.
00:37:43It sounds like you're objecting.
00:37:44But you don't eat, like a doughnut, you eat as a circle.
00:37:48You don't eat a pizza as a circle.
00:37:49What about, what about a.
00:37:51You eat from the inside of the circle out.
00:37:53What about the long.
00:37:54You eat slices.
00:37:55What about the long ones?
00:37:56The long skinny ones?
00:37:57What about.
00:37:58What about in Ninja Turtles, the video game, when you just run over a pie and just jump
00:38:02into your mouth.
00:38:03I feel like those have a different type of.
00:38:04No, like the Long John.
00:38:05Different qualification.
00:38:06What is it called?
00:38:07I think the Long Johns.
00:38:08No.
00:38:09Pizza is round.
00:38:10Final.
00:38:11Pizza is round.
00:38:12I know.
00:38:13What about a bear claw?
00:38:14What about a fritter?
00:38:15Those are different names.
00:38:16Yeah, that's true.
00:38:17You got me there.
00:38:18They're at a doughnut store.
00:38:19They are at a doughnut store.
00:38:20Something to think about.
00:38:21Okay.
00:38:22Doughnuts are more pure round.
00:38:23Wow.
00:38:24So we're going to do pure roundness?
00:38:25I mean, that.
00:38:26Okay.
00:38:27Yeah, we're doing.
00:38:28Just a thought.
00:38:29We're doing skull meat.
00:38:30Okay.
00:38:31Let's hope you don't pick anything that's not fully round.
00:38:32Let's hope.
00:38:33Let's hope.
00:38:34Let's hope.
00:38:35Okay.
00:38:36Max.
00:38:37I'll be taking boobs.
00:38:38Oh, you dick.
00:38:39Good one.
00:38:40I thought that was an easy one.
00:38:41One.
00:38:42Hank, would you like to say anything about boobs not being fully round?
00:38:43They're not.
00:38:44And Hank has spoken.
00:38:45Right?
00:38:46Yeah.
00:38:47No, they are.
00:38:48They are.
00:38:49They are.
00:38:50They are.
00:38:51They are.
00:38:52They are.
00:38:53They are.
00:38:54They are.
00:38:55They are.
00:38:56They are.
00:38:57They are.
00:38:58They are.
00:38:59They are.
00:39:00They are.
00:39:01They are.
00:39:02They're curved.
00:39:03They're round.
00:39:04It's a round piece of meat.
00:39:05Is it curved?
00:39:06Yeah.
00:39:07All right.
00:39:08Yeah.
00:39:09Good pick.
00:39:10Yeah.
00:39:11Good pick.
00:39:12Great pick.
00:39:13Okay.
00:39:14All right.
00:39:15I'm going to go with pie.
00:39:16Pie is round.
00:39:17Do you want to object to that, Hank?
00:39:18No.
00:39:19I like that pick.
00:39:20Okay.
00:39:21All right.
00:39:22Love pie.
00:39:23I'm more of a pie guy than I'm a cake guy.
00:39:24Yeah.
00:39:25I think.
00:39:26Pie clears cake all day.
00:39:27Whoa.
00:39:28I think pie vastly superior.
00:39:30Yeah.
00:39:31You don't think pie clears cake?
00:39:32I think I've had more cake than pie in my life.
00:39:35That's not the question, sir.
00:39:36So, yeah.
00:39:37I would say that.
00:39:38No.
00:39:39That's because.
00:39:40My personal.
00:39:41No.
00:39:42One is served more.
00:39:43Doesn't mean it's better.
00:39:44You get force-fed cake at birthdays.
00:39:46I would prefer birthday pies.
00:39:48Ice cream is better than cake.
00:39:51Why don't they just do ice cream at every birthday?
00:39:53They do.
00:39:54Because you just do.
00:39:55No.
00:39:56They do both.
00:39:57No.
00:39:59They just do ice cream at a birthday.
00:40:00But you've had more ice cream than cake because it's better.
00:40:02I've definitely had way more ice cream than cake.
00:40:05Yeah.
00:40:06Yeah.
00:40:07Easily.
00:40:08I probably have had a lot of pie.
00:40:09But that's because I select the ice cream myself.
00:40:12I go out of my way to purchase ice cream.
00:40:13I don't get ice cream foisted upon me like people do with cake sometimes.
00:40:17Correct.
00:40:18I don't want to talk shit about cake because I do enjoy cake, but pie is way better.
00:40:23Okay.
00:40:24Pie, number one.
00:40:25And then back to me, The Wheel.
00:40:28Good pick.
00:40:30The Wheel.
00:40:31Added on there.
00:40:32Maybe the best invention of all time.
00:40:33Added on there.
00:40:34That and Red Zone.
00:40:35Added on there.
00:40:36Damn.
00:40:37Do you complain about that, Hank?
00:40:39Nope.
00:40:40Okay.
00:40:41Nice.
00:40:42Good.
00:40:43Nice.
00:40:44I'm going to take a basketball.
00:40:45Yep.
00:40:46Okay.
00:40:47Good pick.
00:40:48Shit.
00:40:49Man, I'm getting foisted.
00:40:50I'm going to take Earth.
00:40:51Yeah.
00:40:52Good choice.
00:40:53Ah, good pick.
00:40:55Is this terrible Mount Rushmore?
00:40:57Might be.
00:40:58Might be.
00:40:59Might be.
00:41:00The Earth's not round, Hank.
00:41:01Yeah.
00:41:02Might be.
00:41:03Ask your boy Kyrie.
00:41:04It's way more round than boobs.
00:41:05And I was...
00:41:06Oh.
00:41:07You just went out of order.
00:41:08You're right.
00:41:09Wait.
00:41:10What were you going to say?
00:41:11He didn't go out of order.
00:41:12No, he's fine.
00:41:13You're good.
00:41:14You're good.
00:41:15Go.
00:41:16What did you pick?
00:41:17Your other one.
00:41:18You have two.
00:41:19No.
00:41:20I should have stopped you.
00:41:21Fuck.
00:41:22What's the punishment if you go out?
00:41:24There should be a...
00:41:25No.
00:41:26You can just take...
00:41:27The other person can take it.
00:41:28Yeah.
00:41:29True.
00:41:30Hmm.
00:41:31Hmm.
00:41:32There's a lot of good ones, but I don't really know.
00:41:35Am I just going to go all food?
00:41:40I mean, some of the best round things are food, for sure.
00:41:43It is a lot of...
00:41:44There's a lot of food out there.
00:41:46Okay.
00:41:47Okay.
00:41:48I'm going to go with...
00:41:50Yeah.
00:41:51I'm going to go with a cookie.
00:41:54Cookie.
00:41:55Beautiful round thing.
00:41:56I love a chocolate chip cookie.
00:41:59And then I will go...
00:42:03People are going to be confused because they're going to think that our Mount Rushmore's are
00:42:07not the blind Mount Rushmore's.
00:42:08I'm going to go with a golf ball.
00:42:11Great ball.
00:42:12Okay.
00:42:13Decent ball.
00:42:14That's a great ball.
00:42:15They're going to think I was you and you were me.
00:42:16Especially when I take my next pick.
00:42:19The sphere.
00:42:20Oh, shit.
00:42:21This is going to be very confusing.
00:42:24I'm going to lose because people vote against Hank.
00:42:27Damn, Big Cat.
00:42:28You're really stinking this Mount Rushmore season.
00:42:30I'm sucking right now.
00:42:31And Hank's reaping all the benefits.
00:42:32That's wild.
00:42:33Shit.
00:42:34I mean, we never know until the votes get counted.
00:42:36Kind of a fraudulent pick by you because you've never been.
00:42:39Also, wait.
00:42:40Is the sphere a...
00:42:41Yeah, because we gave the earth.
00:42:43Yeah.
00:42:44And balls.
00:42:45But it's also not fully round because-
00:42:46You just picked golf ball, though.
00:42:48The floor.
00:42:49That boobs.
00:42:50The chest.
00:42:51Like, there's...
00:42:52Well, you opened this Pandora's box when you went at pizza.
00:42:54We allowed.
00:42:55No, I didn't.
00:42:56I said I'm not objecting.
00:42:57Boobs are round.
00:42:58You did.
00:42:59You opened this.
00:43:00But there's a floor to them.
00:43:01Boobs are round.
00:43:02They're round in shape.
00:43:03Hank, you can't see the flat part, though.
00:43:04The flat part is connected.
00:43:05That's the same with the sphere.
00:43:06So the part that you see.
00:43:07Yeah.
00:43:08No, I think both play.
00:43:09Shit.
00:43:10Yeah, I'm fucked.
00:43:11I'm fucked with this one because he's...
00:43:13People are just gonna look at it blind.
00:43:14It'll just be like, donut sphere.
00:43:15It may actually be good because some people have been wanting to give Hank pity votes.
00:43:16Maybe I'll get that.
00:43:17Maybe I'll get that.
00:43:18I'm going to go with a baseball.
00:43:19Ah, shit.
00:43:20You took mine.
00:43:31Baseball is a good pick.
00:43:34Okay.
00:43:35Now you got two.
00:43:36So now I got two.
00:43:37I'm gonna go with the sun.
00:43:38Now, I'm not judging that you picked the sun.
00:43:39got to I'm going to go with the sun because there would be no
00:43:45Earth without the sun.
00:43:46Yeah.
00:43:47And all of us would be dead, but that's fine.
00:43:49It's just what?
00:43:50It's just gas.
00:43:51Yeah, but gas isn't like the cool way to round gas.
00:43:54Like, that's just gas as fuck.
00:43:56Round gas.
00:43:56Yeah, big round gas.
00:43:58And then I mean, the sun is what?
00:44:00It's gas.
00:44:02It's burning gas.
00:44:03It's a burning.
00:44:04There's no burning ball.
00:44:05I'm going to be honest with you guys right now.
00:44:07The moon is scientifically speaking.
00:44:09I'm going to take myself out of this because I don't know what
00:44:12it is.
00:44:12The sun is the sun is round.
00:44:13I just assumed the sun was fire.
00:44:15You wait.
00:44:15Are you like, like extra woke and you think that the sun is
00:44:18flat? Is the sun lava?
00:44:20It's gas.
00:44:21It's plasma.
00:44:22It's actually plasma.
00:44:23If you look it up.
00:44:24Okay, I'm in over my head.
00:44:26I never thought I'd be stepping away from a Hank.
00:44:31Yeah, but I am.
00:44:32Hey, Hank's looking up.
00:44:34He knows more about the sun than me.
00:44:35What is the sun?
00:44:36Is the sun round?
00:44:37Yes, the sun is not a perfect spear.
00:44:40A perfect one.
00:44:41You should get a that should be illegal.
00:44:43Now that you got that pick.
00:44:45Okay.
00:44:46So for my last one, I'm going to go with sun doesn't have a
00:44:50solid surface.
00:44:52Shut the fuck up.
00:44:53Neither does the earth ever heard of water.
00:44:57We're on a solid surface.
00:44:59We yeah partially shut the fuck up Hank.
00:45:02All right, my last one.
00:45:03I'm going to take bagels.

00:45:24Max just hits the meatball button.
00:45:27Hank.
00:45:29Oh, this is about to be a reach bullseye.
00:45:35Hmm.
00:45:36Okay.
00:45:37Bulls be careful.
00:45:38Don't let's not contribute to the toxic climate.
00:45:40What the fuck does that mean?
00:45:42Bullseye?

00:45:45You're just saying bullseye target.
00:45:47Look, got it.
00:45:48Got it.
00:45:49Bullseye.
00:45:50Yep.
00:45:50So you're talking about the center of a dartboard?
00:45:52Yeah, the best.
00:45:52That's the that's a that's a great round thing.
00:45:55Okay, you get a bullseye.
00:45:56Yeah, it's a bad pick.
00:45:57Whatever.
00:45:57Okay, pick out man.
00:46:01I don't know what to do here.
00:46:02I got so many food options.
00:46:05And then I got one.
00:46:08Hubie, should I go crazy or a little bit outside or stick
00:46:12with the food?
00:46:13You need to risk it for the biscuit now.
00:46:15Okay, you want to go biscuit?
00:46:18Is that what you're saying?
00:46:18Biscuit's a great pick.

00:46:26The ring part is round.
00:46:28Right.
00:46:28I mean everything else we've said has had parts that the
00:46:33sphere.
00:46:34Yeah, but the part that makes it a Super Bowl ring is not
00:46:37round, but it's a ring.
00:46:39It's round.
00:46:39It's what's on.

00:47:13until recently Max.
00:47:15That's true.
00:47:15Like the the old school Super Bowl rings were literally just
00:47:18rings.

00:52:10Almost.
00:52:10They taste so good.
00:52:11Why did why do they taste like cotton candy?
00:52:13Yeah, they're weird.
00:52:15Cherries.
00:52:18Testicles testicles.
00:52:19I thought about testicles.
00:52:21Yeah, but balls not tough to put up there.
00:52:24Yeah, it's not a racetrack.
00:52:27Yeah racetrack.
00:52:28That's round.
00:52:28Yeah goes round right medicine Ferris wheel.
00:52:33I said Ferris wheel just now.
00:52:35It's okay.
00:52:35I'm dumb.
00:52:36No, no, that's fine.
00:52:37We're moving fast.
00:52:38We also had Hank kind of derailed us with the bulls.
00:52:40I think UFOs flying saucers.
00:52:45A lighthouse.
00:52:46If you're from bird's eye view.
00:52:48Yeah, looking down.
00:52:48It actually kind of looks like a bullseye.
00:52:50Yeah, how did this happen?
00:52:54Hank?
00:52:54The partial sports logo also round.
00:52:58Yeah.
00:52:59All right.
00:53:00Okay, that was a good Mount Rushmore.
00:53:02I feel good about it.
00:53:03Everyone feel good.
00:53:04I feel good.
00:53:04I think I'm things Hank felt good until until bullseye.
00:53:07Yeah, that's fair, but they're going to vote like they're
00:53:12going to think that you're me and me.
00:53:15I'm you you you what you're to pick sphere donut bullseye was
00:53:22the other one and I have golf ball pizza Earth Earth.
00:53:28You have a good picture.
00:53:28You got a rush.
00:53:29Well, you got pretty much everything with it.
00:53:31Not every everyone critiques every Mount Rushmore like sometimes
00:53:34you got to take shots.
00:53:35You just say things.
00:53:38Yeah, if I fucking cares now, if I cares if whole point is
00:53:41to just have fun with the boys after Max's first pick, if I
00:53:45had picked nipples, would that have counted?
00:53:47Pepperoni is part of it.
00:53:51Oh, pepperoni is a great pick.
00:53:53Fuck.
00:53:54I didn't want to go so hard food.
00:53:56Yeah, I think nipples would have not counted just because they
00:54:00are part of the boob.
00:54:01They're the most important.
00:54:03They're the part of the boob.
00:54:04But it's the best part of the boob, right?
00:54:06If you don't have a nipple, you have no boob.
00:54:08Yeah, it's one of me to just take synonyms of boobs.
00:54:11So I was going to go melons, pepperonis.
00:54:14Oh, you should have you horny, horny front porches.
00:54:20Okay, good Mount Rushmore boys.
00:54:22Good job.
00:54:23Okay, we now welcome on a very special guest.
00:54:27It is 15 year MLB pro Jason Worth.
00:54:33Also horse owner.
00:54:34Jason, thank you for coming in studio.
00:54:38My pleasure to see you.
00:54:40You got the American Century Championship hat on.
00:54:42Yeah, golfer still still flying the hat there.
00:54:46Yeah.
00:54:46So let's start with actually, I don't know where you want to start.
00:54:50We want to start horse owning.
00:54:51We want to start all your businesses that you got going on.
00:54:55If we wherever you want to start, I'm happy to be here.
00:54:58I finally made it.
00:54:58Actually, I'll start here.
00:54:59Jason Worth, the connection that we have is we just had David
00:55:05Wells on a couple weeks ago.
00:55:06And Jason Worth's first MLB hit was against David Wells.
00:55:11How pumped were you for your first MLB hit?
00:55:14Also, how long did it take?
00:55:15Because I always wonder, like guys who take a while, does it really
00:55:19fuck you up?
00:55:19Yeah, so it's a good story.
00:55:21So I was a catcher all like my growing up and up until AAA and
00:55:26then I was with Toronto.
00:55:27They finally were like the tired of watching it.
00:55:29So they moved me to the outfield and I played left in AAA the
00:55:32whole year.
00:55:32Played like 10 games in center and I get to the September 1st
00:55:36to get called up.
00:55:36We're playing the Yankees in the Sky Dome or Rogers Center, whatever
00:55:42they call it now.
00:55:42And I go in the clubhouse.
00:55:44I look at the lineup and I'm like, oh shit, you know, nine, batting
00:55:49ninth, Worth, nine.
00:55:51And I'm like, the fuck's nine?
00:55:55I'm like, oh shit, I'm playing right field.
00:55:58I've never even seen a nine by my name.
00:56:00So I was like, okay, so, you know, you don't ever play in stadiums
00:56:05with five decks.
00:56:06You don't ever play in domes, you know, when your kid growing up,
00:56:09you know, minor leagues, whatever.
00:56:10So my first game is playing right field at Rogers Center.
00:56:13They like, we're out there playing catch, running sprints before
00:56:16the game and they open the dome.
00:56:18And so I'm like, this is fucked, you know, and of course, first
00:56:23pitch of the game, Alfonso Soriano hits the highest fly ball that
00:56:27I ever caught in my career.
00:56:29First pitch in the big league.
00:56:31But you caught it.
00:56:31But I caught it, barely.
00:56:33And then my first at-bat off Boomer, I hit a bullet down the third
00:56:38baseline and Ron Coomer was playing third that day and he like,
00:56:41picked it up and I think he threw it between his legs to second for
00:56:45a double play and I'm like, I didn't really get doubled up much
00:56:48in my career, especially when I was younger because I could move
00:56:50a little bit and first at-bat in the big leagues is like, like a
00:56:54pissed missile double play.
00:56:55I'm still on the stand in the box.
00:56:57I'm like, fuck.
00:56:58They're doing like Harlan Globetrotter shit.
00:57:00Yeah, exactly.
00:57:01Like I'll never get a hit.
00:57:03So I ended up getting a hit in the game.
00:57:05We won, I think I had two hits, maybe.
00:57:07That was a long time ago.
00:57:09But that's really not the Boomer Wells story that I was mentioning.
00:57:14So a couple years later, I'm with the Dodgers and I hit a homer off
00:57:18him and after the game, he texts Jeff Weaver, who's a teammate with
00:57:23LA and he said, you know, what's up with that Worth kid?
00:57:27He's like, oh, dude, you love him.
00:57:28And so he comes over and he's like, all right.
00:57:31He tells Weaver, he's like, tell Worth to meet me at this address.
00:57:35And so Dream, he comes over and he's like, hey, Boomer wants you to
00:57:40meet him at this address.
00:57:41And I'm like, you know, I'm like, I'm a kid.
00:57:44I'm like, well, is this like a Hells Angels?
00:57:46Yeah, you're going to get killed?
00:57:48Yeah, I'm like, what's going on?
00:57:50He's like, nah, it's cool.
00:57:51So I go, I meet him, like best time ever, just the coolest dude.
00:57:56Like, yeah, you know, a couple friends there and like we just hung
00:57:59out and boozed it up one night in LA and like, you know, I was still a rookie
00:58:04at the time.
00:58:04So it was like my first experience with David Wells and I've been friends
00:58:08with him ever since and like saw him at American Century.
00:58:11I don't know if you saw the picture or whatever, just the greatest guy.
00:58:14I mean, I've ran into him and we've hung out like, you know, 50 times
00:58:17probably.
00:58:17I go to his charity golf event.
00:58:20He's like one of my better friends in baseball that I didn't actually play
00:58:24with.
00:58:24Yeah, you know, so he's the man.
00:58:26That's a scary proposition to hit a home run off him and then have him
00:58:29be like, meet me here.
00:58:30Yeah.
00:58:30Well, I was like, what the fuck you're getting set up.
00:58:33It's like that scene in Goodfellas.
00:58:34Yeah, I was legit scared.
00:58:36Yeah, I wonder how many other guys that he's like giving up the first
00:58:40hit to and then he texts them afterwards.
00:58:42He's like, I have to be best friends with you.
00:58:43Yeah, he seems like a baseball historian.
00:58:45So I imagine it's probably a handful.
00:58:46Yes.
00:58:46Yeah, I don't know.
00:58:47He's a cool-ass dude though.
00:58:49Yeah, sweet.
00:58:49Wait, I have a question about the catcher to outfield thing.
00:58:53That's I mean, you thought you were going to be a catcher your whole
00:58:57life. At what point were you like, this is probably not going to work
00:59:01out and I have to go play in the outfield and how long did it take
00:59:04to like actually learn outfield?
00:59:05So double-a was a one with first year with the Blue Jays and they
00:59:13started playing me at some different positions DH and we had Josh
00:59:16Phelps was there Kevin Cash Guillermo Cura's was like a backlog of
00:59:20catchers with the Blue Jays and I had a big year in double-a that
00:59:25year is like my kind of my breakout minor league season hit like 20
00:59:27homers and the next year in spring training was been O2 and the
00:59:33Dick Scott was the farm director and he came in and wouldn't have a
00:59:37conversation with me.
00:59:38He sits me down.
00:59:38He's like, how would you feel about moving to and before you could
00:59:41even tell me where I was like, yes.
00:59:42Yes, like wherever you're talking about, you were done catching.
00:59:47I mean, I wasn't not a very good first baseman, but I would I would
00:59:49have done that all day long instead of catching.
00:59:51But it feels like fucking suck.
00:59:53Yeah, but the only thing with catching is it probably sucks beyond
00:59:56belief, but you don't like if you hit 20 home runs as a catcher, you're
01:00:00one of the best catchers.
01:00:01Whereas if you hit 20 home runs as an outfielder, it's like he's okay.
01:00:04So I'm six five.
01:00:06I actually didn't even like catching, you know, it's like you're always
01:00:11getting second guess by the pitching coach.
01:00:13And if you know, if somebody hits a home run, it's your fault.
01:00:15Yeah, you know, I just I don't know the stand out in the outfield and
01:00:19picking daisies that sort of thing is more pretty good for myself.
01:00:21Yeah, save your knees.
01:00:22Save your knees.
01:00:23That's probably the I mean as is and you're back six five.
01:00:26Yeah, and you're back trying to catch for that long.
01:00:28I play with Matt weeders in Washington.
01:00:31He was like six four and I mean, it was like he'd been catching for a
01:00:34long time and you could tell I could just you know, he couldn't run his
01:00:39knees back.
01:00:39Everything's slow and I could run so, you know, by the time may came
01:00:44around, you know, catching you you couldn't run.
01:00:47I caught over a hundred games four years in a row in the minor leagues.
01:00:50Yeah, that's awful.
01:00:51It's terrible.
01:00:51Yeah, so growing up you were you were a baseball family, right?
01:00:55Yeah, everybody in your family played professional baseball, correct?
01:00:58Was there any any option for you to not be a professional baseball
01:01:02player?
01:01:02It was always like Jason one day.
01:01:04He will play in the big league.
01:01:05Yeah, I mean from the time I was like hitting t-ball or even before that
01:01:08I did I did sign with the University of Georgia and I was an all-state
01:01:12basketball player State of Illinois.
01:01:13Oh, wow, you know a hot take if I went to Georgia, I was going to try
01:01:18and walk on play hoops.
01:01:19Wow.
01:01:20I don't know if it would work but I don't think I had much of a career
01:01:23path in basketball.
01:01:24Yeah.
01:01:25Yeah.
01:01:25I mean that's the classic debate.
01:01:26How many Major League Baseball players could play in the NBA and how
01:01:29many NBA players could play Major League Baseball?
01:01:31I think I could have maybe set the bench if I really put a lot of time
01:01:34into it.
01:01:35Yeah.
01:01:35Yeah would have been like nobody.
01:01:38Yeah.
01:01:38So obviously I'm a Nationals fan Max behind the glass is a Phillies
01:01:42fan.
01:01:43We had this debate earlier.
01:01:44Do you consider yourself to be a National or a Philly?
01:01:46Who am I talking to?
01:01:47You're talking to me.
01:01:48Well, I'm a Nat.
01:01:49You're also talking to me.
01:01:50I'm a Philly.
01:01:51Nat for life.
01:01:53I got a question.
01:01:53Which team did you retire for?
01:01:56Washington.
01:01:57Yeah, Nat.
01:01:57Isn't that interesting, Max?
01:01:58Which team did you win a World Series for?
01:01:59Philly.
01:01:59But it's interesting that he came back to Washington.
01:02:01Which team paid you more?
01:02:03Washington.
01:02:04Washington.
01:02:05Yeah.
01:02:05Which team did you change the culture at?
01:02:08Washington.
01:02:09Which team did you hit more, your best season for?
01:02:12The Phillies and that team I was on in Philly.
01:02:15I mean, we took that.
01:02:16We were losing an 0-7.
01:02:18We ran down the Mets 0-8.
01:02:20We ran down the Mets, won a World Series.
01:02:23And you know, that changed Philadelphia at the time.
01:02:26So, I mean, that run from Philly to Washington was pretty good
01:02:28for me.
01:02:29Even, you know, being in the NL East, I mean, there is a whole
01:02:32deal.
01:02:33We're good now, but there was that seven years of getting
01:02:36booed off the field every time I stepped on the field in
01:02:38Philadelphia.
01:02:38Yeah.
01:02:39Yeah.
01:02:39I mean, there's no animosity anymore.
01:02:41So we're good.
01:02:43Yeah.
01:02:44You're a champion.
01:02:44Yeah, we won.
01:02:45What was the, was there any, like, chance you were going to
01:02:49stay in Philly when you, or is it, that's offered me so much
01:02:52money, I'm not telling you.
01:02:53Well, I wanted to stay in Philly.
01:02:54I mean, we had a great team.
01:02:56We were all about the same age.
01:02:58I mean, you know, Chase and Jimmy and Shane and, you know,
01:03:03then they kind of pat left, whatever.
01:03:04But, I mean, we had an awesome team.
01:03:06Cole, I wanted to stay, but there was Ryan, obviously, Ryan
01:03:11Howard, there just wasn't.
01:03:14The GM told me that this couldn't pay everybody.
01:03:16Right.
01:03:16So he offered me some bullshit hometown discount, even though
01:03:19I'm from Illinois, and it just, you know, it wasn't in the
01:03:23cards.
01:03:23I hired Scott Boris and pretty much made it known that I was
01:03:27going to hit the free agency market.
01:03:29I think you should get credit for the World Series in D.C.
01:03:33too, because when you got to D.C., we sucked.
01:03:36It was a bad ball club.
01:03:38200 lost seasons.
01:03:40Yeah, 200 lost seasons back-to-back, right?
01:03:42Yeah.
01:03:42And then Jason Wolfe shows up.
01:03:44They kind of asked you to mentor Bryce Harper, which is kind
01:03:47of a weird thing to ask a grown man to do when they're paying
01:03:50another guy a lot of money.
01:03:51But what was that like when he was coming up and it was
01:03:54like, okay, Bryce is the future of the team.
01:03:57Jason is the guy that's going to change the culture and move
01:03:59things around.
01:04:00But we need Jason to make sure that our young guy doesn't
01:04:03screw up too bad.
01:04:04Yeah, I wasn't very good at that.
01:04:07Bryce was an interesting kid.
01:04:08I love Bryce.
01:04:11We were talking about it earlier how hard it had to have
01:04:14been to be Bryce Harper or like Alex Rodriguez or somebody
01:04:19that had a lot of fame at a young age.
01:04:23You're the chosen one before your brain is even like half
01:04:26developed.
01:04:26And before you've even done anything in the sport or at the
01:04:30level.
01:04:30I mean, I think Bryce had a tough time in Washington at
01:04:34times.
01:04:35At other times, he was great.
01:04:36MVP one year.
01:04:37We were good.
01:04:38We had good teams in Washington while I was there.
01:04:41But you know, Bryce has moved on to Philly, which is kind of
01:04:44like, you know, funny that that happened with him.
01:04:46And yeah, you know, he's, you know, now he's like the face
01:04:49of MLB, which was kind of what was, you know, how it was
01:04:53supposed to go.
01:04:54Yeah, it was destined for.
01:04:55And he's an awesome.
01:04:56He's an awesome dude.
01:04:57He's a great dad, you know, great teammate, husband.
01:05:00I mean, Bryce has turned into an unbelievable big leaguer.
01:05:05So I don't, I don't know if I help or hurt that cause along
01:05:09the way.
01:05:09We had some, we had some good times.
01:05:11We had some tough times.
01:05:12But you know, it's all part of growing up in the big leagues.
01:05:14You know, the veterans kind of have a hold of the team and
01:05:19the young guys got to fall in line.
01:05:20And you know, Ryan Zimmerman was there.
01:05:24Ian Desmond.
01:05:25I mean, he had a lot of, a lot of good, good guys.
01:05:27We had good teams in Washington.
01:05:28I mean, that was one thing that's cool about my career is
01:05:30I've always played on good teams.
01:05:32Yeah, what about, so a moment you were a little later in your
01:05:35career, the, the, the famous Papa Bond versus Bryce like
01:05:39scuffle in the DC Strangler came out.
01:05:41Yeah.
01:05:41Yeah.
01:05:42Were you, where were you when that was going down and what
01:05:45like, what was the vibe like in the locker room after and
01:05:47how does that get resolved?
01:05:49I mean, Pap was just on a podcast talking about this.
01:05:52I don't know if he talks a lot.
01:05:54He has a lot to say.
01:05:55Pap, I'll show you a video.
01:05:57He just sent me a video from one of the basketball games.
01:05:59It was interesting.
01:05:59Pap's, Pap's unbelievable.
01:06:02So I was at the other side of the dugout and it had been
01:06:05building between the two of them.
01:06:07You know, we weren't in the playoffs.
01:06:09So like August is always the month of hate in the MLB.
01:06:13So no matter, you know, if your team's good or bad, you get
01:06:15everybody wants to fucking kill each other.
01:06:17And it's literally, it's the month of hate.
01:06:19Just from being around each other for so much?
01:06:21And then either, either you fight and you suck and there
01:06:24were you fight and you go on to win.
01:06:26Yeah.
01:06:26There's no, there's, it's, it's coming.
01:06:28It's inevitable.
01:06:29August is, is everyone hates each other.
01:06:32It's hot.
01:06:32You're miserable.
01:06:34And this was September and we suck.
01:06:36So it was even worse.
01:06:36And, you know, I think Harp just didn't put it in the effort
01:06:41that, that Pap was looking for that day.
01:06:45And he was in the, he was in the dugout.
01:06:49I have to go back and look why, why I was even in the dugout
01:06:51in the bottom of the ninth.
01:06:52Either, either, you know, must have gave up a home run or came
01:06:55in a tie game or when we were down or whatever.
01:06:57Because usually if, you know, if the closers in the dugout,
01:07:00the bottom of the ninth either.
01:07:01Yeah.
01:07:01It's not a great way to say didn't do that very often.
01:07:05And yeah, and then I think, I think the, I think the key words
01:07:11in that exchange were either.
01:07:13Do you want to fucking go or let's fucking go?
01:07:16You read Bryce's mouth and you see the fucking head twitch
01:07:20from Pap.
01:07:21The like, and it was like, it just happened so fast and then
01:07:24then I coined the phrase, the DC stranglers shortly after.
01:07:29Yeah.
01:07:29So what happens in the locker room after something like that?
01:07:31Because I, I mean, shit happens.
01:07:33Like you said, the, the, the month of hate.
01:07:35Yeah.
01:07:35162 games.
01:07:37You guys are with each other all the time.
01:07:38There's fights.
01:07:39I mean, people get upset.
01:07:40I mean, it happens all the time.
01:07:41You got 25 grown ass men that are, you know, work out every day.
01:07:45They play their balls off every day.
01:07:47I mean, there's, there's fights.
01:07:48There's, you know, people hate each other.
01:07:50There's shit that goes on behind the scenes that no one ever
01:07:52sees that spilled over onto the cameras, which was a little
01:07:55tough.
01:07:56We had a, I guess, according to the Paps, you know, podcast
01:08:02did the other day.
01:08:03He called the meeting, which I, you know, I just, I just walked
01:08:06in there after getting our ass kicked again.
01:08:07And next thing I know, we have a meeting and they kind of
01:08:10talked about it and, and that was that.
01:08:13Yeah.
01:08:14When he, when he talked about, was he like, did you guys just
01:08:16see me kick Bryce's ass?
01:08:18Is that what the meeting was?
01:08:19I mean, he apologized and I mean, he called the meeting, I guess.
01:08:22And he was just like, hey, you know, I'm sorry.
01:08:24I wouldn't, shouldn't have, you know, shouldn't have done
01:08:26this, blah, blah, blah.
01:08:27Hey, the, the interesting part from a fan's perspective is
01:08:30because we always, you know, fans sit there and when we played
01:08:35the sport, we're watching.
01:08:36It was when you were in little league and like, you're, you're
01:08:39all your friends and stuff.
01:08:40So you think in your head, you're like, oh, these guys must
01:08:42all be friends, but that's never how it works.
01:08:45How like in a clubhouse?
01:08:46I mean, you are and you're not.
01:08:48Yeah, but like how many, how many guys, like, was there some
01:08:50guys in clubhouses, not even naming names, but like that
01:08:53you're like, yeah, they generally, they like genuinely hate
01:08:55each other, but we can figure out a way to get along.
01:08:58Yeah, you know, I mean, for the most part, everybody gets
01:09:03along. I mean, the Mets do things sometimes that I think
01:09:06would probably fall under that, you know, but they're the
01:09:09fucking Mets.
01:09:10So that's just what happens.
01:09:13I just don't, I don't get their, I don't get their franchise
01:09:16at all.
01:09:17I played the NL East for too long and played against them.
01:09:20But what's so different about the Mets?
01:09:23I don't know.
01:09:23I guess they just suck.
01:09:27But so, so it like in a day-to-day, how do you, were you
01:09:30like considered a glue guy or you like, I'm going to mind
01:09:32my own business type of guy?
01:09:34I mean, I would think you'd probably call me a glue guy.
01:09:36Yeah.
01:09:37So was it you, would you take responsibility of like, hey,
01:09:39look, I know this isn't going well right now, like just
01:09:42vibes.
01:09:42I got to figure out a way to.
01:09:43I think you just make it work.
01:09:44And I played on mostly, you know, championship teams that
01:09:48won the division almost every year and you got to make it
01:09:51work, you know, you fight, you get up, you hug it out and
01:09:54you move on.
01:09:54I mean, you know, the fight's not with each other.
01:09:57It's with the other team.
01:09:58Yeah, you literally walk on the field, at least you used
01:10:00to, the games changed a little bit, but you used to walk
01:10:03on the field every day.
01:10:04Like with the mentality and the thought is I might have
01:10:06to fight the whole other team.
01:10:07Right, right, you know, so like that and I know that my
01:10:11guys got my back, you know, so that's kind of the mentality
01:10:14at the end of the day when the game starts, you know, you're
01:10:17all in it together.
01:10:17You're all brothers.
01:10:18We're all going to, we're out there to, you know, fucking
01:10:20kill people.
01:10:21But because I remember you had a good team.
01:10:24Yeah, you had a quote about like the analytics in baseball
01:10:26and just how the people upstairs, they read books and do math
01:10:30and bullshit like that was what you said.
01:10:32Yeah, and downplaying the twirly birds.
01:10:34Yeah, you might have come super nerds at this point too.
01:10:38Yeah, I fucked that other twirly bird.
01:10:39Yeah, but downplaying like the importance of chemistry because
01:10:42I do think that gets lost, especially with how the media talks
01:10:45about it, how the analytics talk about it.
01:10:47It's like guys wanting to fight for each other doesn't show
01:10:51up on a stat in a box score, but it's really fucking important.
01:10:55Yeah, I mean, I think the Yankees have proved you can have
01:10:57all the best players, but if you don't have the chemistry,
01:10:59it doesn't matter.
01:11:00You know, you got to, you got to give me a, give me a group
01:11:03of guys that might not be the best players, but they get along
01:11:06and they're all moving in the right direction and we'll go
01:11:08win. Yeah.
01:11:09He's used more of the little things, right?
01:11:10I would imagine if it's something that you actually care
01:11:12about, you care about the guy next to you, make sure that
01:11:14you're backing them up on, on a, on a throw to third base.
01:11:17Yeah, all sorts of stuff, right?
01:11:19Yeah, and that's the stuff off the field too.
01:11:20I think that in the clubhouse and like how that all works,
01:11:25the 19 Nats were a perfect example of that.
01:11:28I mean, we had, we had all those things all those years.
01:11:31We just couldn't get over the hump.
01:11:32You know, we get to the playoffs.
01:11:33We're losing the first round.
01:11:34Like what was it in the 19 team?
01:11:36They were able to put it all together.
01:11:38You know, they brought in Parra and my nemesis Annabel Sanchez
01:11:42and he's your nemesis.
01:11:44Dude, look it up.
01:11:45It's bad.
01:11:45Oh, wait.
01:11:46No, tell, tell me a story because I, Annabel Sanchez is a
01:11:49personal hero of mine just because I had him on my fantasy
01:11:52team the year that he threw a no hitter.
01:11:53That's literally the whole story.
01:11:55That was my only thing.
01:11:56That was my every game against him.
01:11:57Yeah, it's something like three for 35 with like 28 punch-outs.
01:12:03Jesus Christ.
01:12:04And then like I faced him when I was hot, when I was cold.
01:12:07I did hit a homer off him in Philly, but it like it hit the
01:12:10back of the fence, like went in the flower bed, you know,
01:12:12barely count.
01:12:13Yeah, right.
01:12:14Didn't feel good.
01:12:15I remember we went into Detroit.
01:12:17I was with the Nats.
01:12:18I was hot.
01:12:18I was like player of the month and I was going in there.
01:12:21I was like, I'm like, I'm gonna get him.
01:12:22This is it, you know, and it was like two punch-outs and a
01:12:25broken bat back to the pitcher.
01:12:27It was just like and I got three hits next day.
01:12:29Oh, it's crazy.
01:12:30Didn't matter.
01:12:30Yeah.
01:12:31How psycho is Max Scherzer as a teammate? On the day pitches.
01:12:35Yeah, from two, like 2.30 on. Max is great.
01:12:38He's one of my buddies.
01:12:40He loves, you know, it's like, you're a horse for one day
01:12:46and you're a horse's ass for the next four.
01:12:48Yeah, that was Max.
01:12:49He's just, he's an idiot, but on the day pitches, you want
01:12:54him with the ball, but at like 2.30 on, he puts the headphones
01:12:56on and starts listening to like, I don't know what he's listening
01:12:59to, but you know, the funny thing is he'll look over to like
01:13:03his locker mate and he'll be like, you know, with the squirrely
01:13:07ass eyes, he's like, see you on the other side.
01:13:10And then he puts his fucking headphones on and he goes full
01:13:13psycho until he comes out of the game.
01:13:15It's awesome.
01:13:16You know, you come in and you look at the lineup and you're
01:13:18like, you know, you don't really, for the most part, you don't
01:13:22know who's pitching every day.
01:13:23Just, you know, you're going to play every day.
01:13:25Whoever pitches is inconsequential, but you walk in and you
01:13:29see Scherzer, you know, pitching and you're like, immediately
01:13:31you're like, fuck yeah, let's go.
01:13:33Yeah.
01:13:33Because you know, he's going to be just, he's going to be fired
01:13:35up for the game.
01:13:37So yeah, yeah.
01:13:38Ultimate competitor.
01:13:39I got to ask you about the, maybe one of the best at-bats in
01:13:43Major League Baseball history.
01:13:44It was the NLDS, right?
01:13:46Yep.
01:13:46And you had 13 pitches and then you hit a dinger, walk it off,
01:13:51bottom of the ninth.
01:13:52When we're watching that at-bat, at home, it's like every single
01:13:56pitch, you get more and more nervous as a fan.
01:13:58When you're in the box going through that at-bat, are you like,
01:14:01fuck, another foul ball.
01:14:02I hope I don't fuck this next one up.
01:14:04Do you get more nervous or do you get more locked in?
01:14:06No, I only get nervous for horse racing.
01:14:08That at-bat was cool.
01:14:10So that bullpen, that Cardinal bullpen that year was the hardest
01:14:15throwing bullpen of all time.
01:14:16Like, and it wasn't even close.
01:14:18And that was like the new age bullpen.
01:14:21Now, every bullpen is constructed like that.
01:14:23Everyone's got, you know, everyone's throwing a hundred out of the
01:14:25pen.
01:14:25Yeah.
01:14:25Yeah, their bullpen was nasty.
01:14:27That Lancelin in there, that was, you know, he had like an 18 game
01:14:30winner.
01:14:30And I start off the inning, he paints two heaters down the way at 97.
01:14:34I'm down 0-2.
01:14:35I always had this thing, you know, the personal thing of mine where if I
01:14:39got down 0-2, I'll be like, all right, let's get it to 3-2.
01:14:42You know, if I get to 3-2, now I can win the at-bat.
01:14:45So, and it's, you know, it never works out.
01:14:48I mean, sometimes it does, but that's the kind of the mentality.
01:14:51We're going to fight.
01:14:51We're going to battle and get to 3-2.
01:14:52You know, we're going to be tough out.
01:14:53And I just kept grinding and I kept grinding and fouling balls off.
01:14:58But as I kept fouling those balls off, I kept timing them up.
01:15:00And there was like a 2-2 pitch, I think.
01:15:04He threw a hook and, you know, Yachty, probably the best catcher of all
01:15:07time, he went to frame it and just kind of hit off the bottom of his mitt.
01:15:10Just didn't quite catch it.
01:15:12You know, if he catches it, I get, I'm done.
01:15:13So, then I went to 3-2.
01:15:16I was like, I fucking got him.
01:15:17And I fouled a ball off and the next pitch, I shot him and it was like, you
01:15:21know, pretty cool moment for DC and for me, obviously, coming, signing that
01:15:25big deal and kind of sucking the first year, getting the organization turned
01:15:30around in the right direction.
01:15:31And then, you know, I broke my wrist and that year in 2012, I had all these
01:15:36wrist problems when I was younger.
01:15:38And so, then I break my wrist, you know, second year in Washington.
01:15:41It's just like, oh my God, I'm going to, these things cannot go worse.
01:15:45Right.
01:15:46And then the team plays great.
01:15:47We're like best team in baseball.
01:15:49I come back off the DL and it ended up in like 3-10 or 12 or something that
01:15:53year and then got that hit.
01:15:55But the next day, I lead off with a double and we go up like six, seven runs and
01:16:01then we end up fucking losing that game.
01:16:02Yeah.
01:16:03You know, we were just so snake bit in the playoffs.
01:16:06We had that 18-in game against the Giants that we couldn't win.
01:16:09Then we, you know, it's just like, then we go to San Fran, we needed to win a
01:16:13game and like, you know, all hell breaks loose.
01:16:16We got, you know, it's just, it was weird.
01:16:18It was like, we just weren't meant to win, you know, everything went against us.
01:16:22The series against the Cubs that year.
01:16:24Yeah.
01:16:25I mean, we had them beat and we beat them up.
01:16:29You know, when they went and played the Dodgers the next round, they had nothing.
01:16:32Yeah.
01:16:32Same thing the next year, we hit the Dodgers.
01:16:34We had them beat.
01:16:34They had bring Clayton Kershaw off no day's rest out of the bullpen and we had,
01:16:38you know, we had them beat and they end up beat us and then they played the Cubs
01:16:41and they had nothing left.
01:16:42Yeah.
01:16:43You know, we were set up.
01:16:44I felt like we were just hitting our stride.
01:16:45So it was like, if we could ever gotten through the first round, I mean, I thought
01:16:49every time we were in the playoffs, we were going to win it all.
01:16:51So.
01:16:51Yeah.
01:16:52But, you know, we got our championship in 2019.
01:16:55I wasn't there, but I feel like, like you said, I had a lot to do with that team
01:16:58and those guys.
01:16:59Well, it's a big change in terms of what the team was like before you got there
01:17:03to what, the way that you left the team afterwards.
01:17:05And you were talking about like changing culture.
01:17:06Is there any, what, how much can one guy do as a baseball player to change a
01:17:10culture in the city?
01:17:11I mean, I tried a lot.
01:17:13We had a lot.
01:17:14Zim was a big, big help.
01:17:15I mean, if I ever wanted to get anything done, I went to Ryan.
01:17:18The ownership would, and the GMs, they would listen to Ryan.
01:17:22It became white noise, I think, towards the end.
01:17:25Yeah.
01:17:25I was asking for so much.
01:17:26Yeah.
01:17:27You know, we changed the medical.
01:17:29We changed the food and the clubhouse and did a lot of good stuff and created
01:17:33just a really good environment for guys to go and win and be successful and be
01:17:38comfortable.
01:17:39How important is the food?
01:17:40I think it's everything.
01:17:42Would you stop at McDonald's and feed your racehorse on the Big Mac on the way
01:17:47to the track and expect him to win?
01:17:48Right.
01:17:49Or would you want to feed him the best food in the world and make sure he has
01:17:53everything he needs from a training, mind, body, spirit type of approach?
01:17:59Yeah.
01:18:00I got a question about your time in Washington as well.
01:18:04And it doesn't totally apply, but it's more like where baseball's headed.
01:18:08So obviously, it was very famous when Strasburg came up and he gets hurt and
01:18:12then they put the limits on him.
01:18:14You see it now with young pitchers like Paul Skeens had a no-hitter going
01:18:17through seven and they took him out of the game.
01:18:19What are the rest of the guys in the clubhouse think when the management puts
01:18:23a limit on the pitchers and you know that it's not the pitcher's fault, but
01:18:28you're like, come on, like this guy's a stud.
01:18:30Let's keep him out there.
01:18:31Yeah.
01:18:31This is a tough one for me because I still want to work in baseball ongoing.
01:18:37So I can't bury my former employer on this one.
01:18:40Yeah.
01:18:42I will say that we had a conversation at the beginning of the year.
01:18:47Davey Johnson was the manager and I said, why are we going to start Straus
01:18:51opening day if we have this innings limits?
01:18:54Why wouldn't we start him in May so we can get him through October?
01:18:58Right.
01:18:59And I mean, we're coming off 200 lost seasons, a 500 season, and then that
01:19:04season and he looked at me and says, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
01:19:08Yeah.
01:19:09So I'm like, fuck.
01:19:12Yeah.
01:19:12All right.
01:19:14And that was about all I had to say about it.
01:19:17But I mean, I feel like looking back, I wish I would have said more.
01:19:20I don't think it would matter.
01:19:20They don't give a fuck what I say.
01:19:22But are the guys in the clubhouse like, do they get frustrated?
01:19:25I mean, I'm sure Straus was frustrated too.
01:19:27I think we were all frustrated, especially since we lost.
01:19:29But I mean, Straus was healthy.
01:19:31I don't know.
01:19:31Could he pitched out of the pen?
01:19:32Could he came in and close games?
01:19:34Did he want to?
01:19:35Was he like, I want to be in there?
01:19:36I don't know.
01:19:37I mean, he had having being injured and not, you know, getting to the point
01:19:41where you've made money is really tough in that game.
01:19:43Right?
01:19:44So you got to look out for yourself, unfortunately, but you know, at the
01:19:49same time, it's a, you know, you gotta, you gotta be there for your guys.
01:19:53That was, Straus was young.
01:19:54The team was, you know, in its infancy.
01:19:57I mean, it turned out he got paid and they won a World Series.
01:20:01So I think it all, it all worked out.
01:20:03Would I like to see him, you know, continue to pitch or even start the
01:20:07season later?
01:20:08Yeah.
01:20:08So we would have had him, of course, but I don't know.
01:20:11We still had Chan.
01:20:11We were up six runs.
01:20:13I mean, in that game five, we had, I mean, we should have closed that out.
01:20:15I mean, it's just another one of those weird things when I was there.
01:20:18We're just, just, you felt snake bit really.
01:20:20Yeah.
01:20:21I mean, it does.
01:20:21It's a good point that you made, which is like, if we have them on this
01:20:25innings limit or this pitches limit, whatever the case was, why don't we
01:20:28just start the clock later?
01:20:29And the fact that he's like, well, we'll cross that bridge when we get
01:20:31there.
01:20:31That's pretty much saying, yeah, we're just, we're not going to do that.
01:20:34Yeah.
01:20:34Just go, go, go, go back, go out in the right field.
01:20:38Yeah, third or second or whatever.
01:20:40It's the same amount of innings.
01:20:41It would make sense to just push it back a little bit.
01:20:44Switching over to the outfield.
01:20:47Do you remember the first time that you lost a ball in the lights or just
01:20:49lost in the clouds?
01:20:51Because that feels like it must be the most helpless feeling.
01:20:54It's the worst.
01:20:55Yeah.
01:20:55And I like, for whatever reason, I wasn't good at it.
01:21:00Sun balls too.
01:21:01First, first one.
01:21:03I don't know.
01:21:04There's a, there's a good one at, uh, it's, it's, you'd still find it.
01:21:08I think it was a twilight ball.
01:21:09So like for like three minutes every night, sometimes the cloud, the sky
01:21:13goes purple and if the ball goes up, we got, you got no shot.
01:21:17And, uh, uh, it was kind of later in my career and we were all, you know,
01:21:20we all talked about it.
01:21:22The worst is when you see an outfielder go back and he's throwing his
01:21:25hands up and like, I can't see it.
01:21:26I can't see it.
01:21:27And everyone's just running because they know he can't see it, you know?
01:21:30So I'm like, what?
01:21:30Well, just act like you have it.
01:21:32Yeah.
01:21:32You know, you know, the center field, you know, I don't see it.
01:21:35Like get, get over here.
01:21:36Yeah.
01:21:36Right.
01:21:37So, um, Andre Aether was, was hitting for the Dodgers and, uh, my
01:21:41buddy Chase Utley was on second and we were kind of like later or later
01:21:46in our career and Andre either hits a ball up and I like, I go back and
01:21:50like camp underneath it.
01:21:51Like I, like I definitely got it and I don't see it until I see it go over
01:21:56my head, but I'm, you know, I was, I was already at the spot and then I
01:22:00like act like I catch it and I look at Chase at second base and he looks
01:22:04at me, he's like, I can see him be like, what the fuck?
01:22:08And like, he's like laughing around third.
01:22:12I'm laughing.
01:22:13Like it was hilarious.
01:22:14I like, I, you know, I text him out of the game.
01:22:16I was like, I fucking got you.
01:22:18But, uh, that, that was, um, there was a, the gift actually, or the, yeah.
01:22:23Uh, you can see the ball goes right over my, you know, and they did the
01:22:27thing where it was like the circle for the, like MLB, the show.
01:22:30It was like, you know, when your controller stops working, you know,
01:22:32like, I don't know, it was, it was pretty funny, but, um, it is, it sucks.
01:22:37My buddy, Sean Kelly, he tells everybody, uh, that I'm the worst
01:22:41outfielder of all time.
01:22:42Cause it was like, there was two times in, uh, in Milwaukee.
01:22:45Now Milwaukee has the weird, the weird glare sometime on day games, like
01:22:48the afternoon game, it gets kind of weird in the fall.
01:22:51And, uh, there was two balls that went out there.
01:22:53I never saw like one almost hit me.
01:22:55I was like, I was trying to like just catch the sun and then like went right
01:22:58here.
01:22:59I mean, you're fucked.
01:23:00There's, there's, it's not, it's not a good feeling.
01:23:02It's not where you want to be, but I just always felt like the guys that
01:23:05are running around acting like idiots and like they don't, you know, they
01:23:07don't see them giving it away.
01:23:08Yeah.
01:23:09I'm like, just stand there and act like you got it.
01:23:10Yeah.
01:23:11Yeah.
01:23:11But neither, neither way works, but, uh, I got a horse racing question for
01:23:16you.
01:23:16Who's your goat horse race.
01:23:17And this is a very important question because we have one as a podcast.
01:23:21What do you mean?
01:23:21Who's your goat?
01:23:22Your goat horse.
01:23:23The best horse.
01:23:24Oh, that's easy.
01:23:25Dornick.
01:23:26Oh, okay.
01:23:27All right.
01:23:27You can name your own.
01:23:28We, we think secretariat was a roided up and flight line is my personal
01:23:32goat.
01:23:33So I was at that, so I just got into horse racing.
01:23:36Yeah.
01:23:36So I haven't really, I'm like, this is year three horse racing for me.
01:23:39I was at that flight line race and at the time the breeders.
01:23:42Yeah.
01:23:42Yeah.
01:23:42I was there too.
01:23:43I felt like I was watching Muhammad Ali and prime.
01:23:46Yeah.
01:23:47It was, I, that was the coolest.
01:23:48I've seen some cool shit and I put that up there.
01:23:51It's number two.
01:23:52Now after, after Dornick's winning the, the, uh, the Belmont, that's like I
01:23:56put the world series, the parade, and then the Belmont win is my top three.
01:24:01Yeah.
01:24:02That's gotta be awesome.
01:24:02Did you find that, that horse racing people have welcomed you with open arms
01:24:06or is it still, is it like a club that you're trying to get into?
01:24:09Uh, I don't know.
01:24:10We'll see.
01:24:11I mean, I think when in the Belmont was, was, uh, was kind of like my entry
01:24:15in can't say anything to you now.
01:24:16Yeah.
01:24:16Yeah.
01:24:17So, uh, I know one thing, uh, Saratoga haven't doing that at Saratoga was
01:24:21really awesome.
01:24:22And then, so like the next day we went back on Sunday to like get some
01:24:25souvenirs and shit and just run by the tracks.
01:24:28I had a couple of people and I felt like the mayor of Saratoga or something.
01:24:31Yeah.
01:24:31Saratoga.
01:24:32I have said it before.
01:24:33So great for people who don't know Saratoga and Keeneland are the Fenway
01:24:37and Wrigley of horse race.
01:24:38Correct.
01:24:38Like that.
01:24:39They are the special, special places.
01:24:40When you walk in, you feel it back in time.
01:24:43Right?
01:24:43Exactly.
01:24:44It's like very old timey and it feels that way.
01:24:46That's a good analogy.
01:24:47Yeah.
01:24:47So, so, um, I mean, that's crazy that you won the Belmont three years in my
01:24:51first cold.
01:24:52I bought, it's nuts.
01:24:53Like that doesn't happen in horse racing.
01:24:55No, it doesn't happen period.
01:24:57Yeah.
01:24:57Right.
01:24:57So are you like, are you all in?
01:24:59Are you like, this is cause it, cause it's a very cool if you, if you have
01:25:02the money and, and you know, you can get some success, it's gotta be one of
01:25:06the coolest things to be able to buy horses and win big time races.
01:25:10Yeah.
01:25:10It's addicting.
01:25:11Um, but look, I, I tell people that, you know, running a, a Tuesday 16
01:25:16clamor at Tampa Bay downs is exciting.
01:25:19Yeah.
01:25:20I mean, it's not as exciting, but it's like, it's like winning a big game.
01:25:23Yeah.
01:25:24You know, when the Belmont was like, was like when, when in the world series.
01:25:28Yeah.
01:25:28That's kind of the emotions that you feel.
01:25:30I think horse racing is cool for, for athletes in general, even, you know,
01:25:34regardless of what level you played, because when that, if you own the horse,
01:25:38I think, I think when you bet on the horse compared to when you own the horse
01:25:42are two different things.
01:25:43Yeah.
01:25:44You know, you're like dealing with a family member that's, that's playing.
01:25:47Um, but I, I say that when they come out of the gate, I get the emotions of
01:25:52when I had, when I was playing and you can't replicate those, you know, you
01:25:56can't, you know, we can't play, you know, anything really golf or whatever, you
01:26:01know, pick up basketball, whatever it is.
01:26:03I mean, you can't do anything anymore after you're done playing a, you know,
01:26:07a sport that gives you those emotions.
01:26:09And then all of a sudden I start getting the horse race and I'm like, damn, like
01:26:12I'm back on the field.
01:26:13Right.
01:26:14You know, then you win and you're like, fuck.
01:26:15Yeah.
01:26:15Woo.
01:26:16It's a, it's, it's for, I think for athletes, it's a, it's an amazing sport.
01:26:20How'd you get into it in the first place?
01:26:22Like, was there somebody that you had?
01:26:23There was a friend that owned a horse.
01:26:24It was like, Hey, I think you'd enjoy this.
01:26:26Yeah.
01:26:26I was playing golf with some guys.
01:26:28Um, I just kind of started playing golf too.
01:26:31And, um, that's not fair that you're that good.
01:26:33I played a lot as a kid.
01:26:34Sorry.
01:26:35I just started.
01:26:36I started again.
01:26:37Yeah.
01:26:37Wait, how good are you?
01:26:38I mean, he was like plus eight or plus 10 on what would you shoot?
01:26:41I got 10 points at, uh, American century, but I played pretty damn good.
01:26:45That's really good.
01:26:45I'm a 5.6.
01:26:47Handicap.
01:26:47Yeah.
01:26:47Do you see what a rod shot?
01:26:49It was awful.
01:26:50I saw him on the range.
01:26:51I didn't need to see what he shot.
01:26:52I think so.
01:26:52They cap your strokes per hole, right?
01:26:54Yeah.
01:26:54You can only go, I can only get a double.
01:26:57I think he maxed like every hole his first round.
01:27:00He did his, his swing would, would lead you to believe that's true.
01:27:04Yeah.
01:27:04Yeah.
01:27:05But yeah, that's not fair.
01:27:06Such a great athlete.
01:27:07Such a bad girl.
01:27:08But athlete, it's so funny because you don't, when you see athletes like
01:27:12professional athletes golfing, you're like, this is not fair.
01:27:15And then you remind yourself like, oh yeah, they just move different than
01:27:18everyone else.
01:27:19So of course there can be good at golf.
01:27:22Yeah.
01:27:22You guys just move differently.
01:27:23I think there's exceptions, but yeah, but I mean, it's for the most part,
01:27:26like you see them, you're like, yeah, of course they are.
01:27:28And I can understand if Alex just started playing golf because when I
01:27:31started first started again, I was really bad because the baseball swing
01:27:34and the golf swing are two totally different things.
01:27:36Yeah.
01:27:36Is there a sport that you really stink at?
01:27:39I don't really play many sports.
01:27:42So the answer is you probably are awesome at all.
01:27:45Every sport that you've played.
01:27:46Yeah.
01:27:46All state basketball.
01:27:48Yeah.
01:27:48One, the Belmont.
01:27:50Yeah.
01:27:50So far, so good.
01:27:51Yeah.
01:27:52All star.
01:27:52Seems like you're pretty damn good at all of them.
01:27:54I was, I wasn't really good at long distance running.
01:27:58I've actually really suck.
01:28:00I really suck at long distance, right?
01:28:02Yeah.
01:28:02That's a great thing to suck at.
01:28:04I'm a spreader.
01:28:04That actually means that you're smart.
01:28:06Yeah.
01:28:06It means that your body knows to conserve.
01:28:08Why would you do that anyways?
01:28:09Yeah, it's a shitty sport.
01:28:10Exactly.
01:28:11So the other thing is you're into is you're a farmer and you farm regular
01:28:17crops, right?
01:28:18And also marijuana.
01:28:19Like that's how did you get into that?
01:28:21We haven't actually started farming marijuana.
01:28:23We're in the process.
01:28:23We have a license to and we're building the concept.
01:28:27But yeah, I got into ag kind of an o9.
01:28:32It was more of a place just to get away from everybody after the season
01:28:35and and do some deer hunting and then it turned into this.
01:28:39I was about the same time.
01:28:40I started kind of taking real good care of myself like eating organically,
01:28:45you know, just doing everything I could to be the best athlete and I
01:28:50didn't want him, you know, I didn't want him spraying all that shit on
01:28:52my land and and I wanted to eat the, you know, process the deer that we
01:28:56killed and I didn't, you know, I just want to be eating good stuff too.
01:29:00So it turned into this organic farming project, which is which is cool.
01:29:04I turns out I like agriculture and we applied for a craft grow marijuana
01:29:09license a few years back and we got it.
01:29:12We're kind of building that all out.
01:29:14So yeah, that's awesome.
01:29:15It's really cool.
01:29:16Yeah.
01:29:16So do you actually get out in the fields and do you do like get on the
01:29:19machinery sometimes and you get hands-on with it?
01:29:22Yeah, I'm more I'm more into like the planning side of it.
01:29:26I've got a farmer that actually farms but I've done some I've done some
01:29:31harvesting and kind of get out there and move some big machinery around.
01:29:34I like, you know, I like driving stuff like that.
01:29:36So I've done it a little bit but I mean, that's I don't know.
01:29:40That's a that's a whole different animal.
01:29:41Yeah, I've been saying for the last four years that that weed has gotten
01:29:44too potent in America.
01:29:46It's gotten too strong and we need to bring back like just good quality
01:29:49normal weed regular weed.
01:29:51It's like mids.
01:29:52Well, we didn't ditch weed.
01:29:54No, not not like bad not like weed.
01:29:56That'll give you a hangover.
01:29:57This is this is the battle that I fight against people.
01:29:59Sometimes I'm like, let's just smoke normal weed and they're like, wait,
01:30:02you want to smoke shake?
01:30:03No, I want to smoke something that I can enjoy and then go out and and
01:30:07function and go about my day.
01:30:09But a lot of the weed nowadays.
01:30:10It's like you hit it.
01:30:11Then at least for me.
01:30:12I have to just sit down on a couch and watch a show that I'm going to
01:30:14forget it.
01:30:15You have a low tolerance.
01:30:16I might have a low tolerance, but I think America needs to bring back
01:30:18mids.
01:30:19Think about it.
01:30:19I think just making like yeah, average regular weed.
01:30:23Just one strain of average.
01:30:24It's an interesting concept.
01:30:25I are our business plan is actually built on the opposite.
01:30:29We're going for the like the super high end super high potent.
01:30:32Yeah, just have one plant.
01:30:34That's just just as normal pot.
01:30:37Yeah, just put like one literally just put one plant outside.
01:30:40I think you could probably do this yourself now that you're talking
01:30:43about it.
01:30:44I probably could.
01:30:45Yeah, I think on your rooftop.
01:30:46They allow you one like three plants in Illinois, right?
01:30:48Do they really?
01:30:49Yeah, fuck it.
01:30:50I'm going to start.
01:30:51I'm going to grow my own weed.
01:30:52Yeah, I'm going to show you.
01:30:53I'm going to show everybody.
01:30:54Yeah, and I'm going to sell it for since it's only one plant.
01:30:57I can charge just an enormous or that would be illegal.
01:31:00Yeah, you're right.
01:31:02I'm not going to definitely not going to be doing that.
01:31:04We're going to smoke it and we're going to smoke it.
01:31:06Yeah, have a hell of a time.
01:31:07All right.
01:31:07Let me know if it's if it gets popular.
01:31:09Maybe we'll we'll we'll change our business plan up.
01:31:12Yeah, I'll sell you my seeds.
01:31:14Yeah, Max.
01:31:15I'm sure you have a couple questions.
01:31:17Max is diehard Phillies fan baseball player.
01:31:20I don't know if you saw some of his swings last night.
01:31:22He was the Matt stairs of the CAA.
01:31:24I I was following around last night.
01:31:26You guys are you guys are idiots.
01:31:27Yeah, I mean way too old to be going out there trying to hit 700 home
01:31:31run. Well those Max is a little bit younger that I'm an idiot.
01:31:35We when I looked at the we're talking obviously about the Jerry after
01:31:38dark. We did the Barry Bonds record.
01:31:40I looked at the halfway through.
01:31:42I looked at the leaderboard and it was the bottom four guys were all
01:31:4537 plus and I was like this might be the moment that we got to just
01:31:49stop but Max was a beast and Max is still in his prime.
01:31:53So Max baseball guy to baseball guy.
01:31:56You got questions about the Phil's to the World Series champion
01:31:59Phil's I have one question and it's not about the World Series team.
01:32:03It's about the o7 team and the Mets collapse.
01:32:05Let's talk about it.
01:32:06What exactly was going on like in the clubhouse during September
01:32:10like you were you guys were so far back and the Mets had such a big
01:32:14lead and like each day like the Mets kept losing the Phillies kept
01:32:18winning like what was going on in the clubhouse.
01:32:20Well, did you actually think that like you had a shot that I tell
01:32:22you what?
01:32:23I think we thought that there was no no way in hell.
01:32:26We weren't catching them like the mentality of that team and that's
01:32:29what like that's what set that run off because we knew we were so
01:32:32far back.
01:32:33We are seven down with 17 to play crazy.
01:32:37That's nuts crazy.
01:32:38Yeah, so we sweep the Mets and I had a big game.
01:32:44I think that might have been a wait.
01:32:47We did the same thing in a way.
01:32:48We were down seven seven with 20 to play.
01:32:51You can't even remember your favorite Mets collapse.
01:32:54There are like five of them.
01:32:57They come together but there was like there was I stole second.
01:33:00We're tie game.
01:33:01I like walked off Billy Wagner and then I stole second.
01:33:04We're down a run.
01:33:05I still second and third and then took to Gucci to Gucci.
01:33:12I play for the White Sox.
01:33:13So to Gucci.
01:33:13No, so I was on away.
01:33:15This was oh seven.
01:33:15Okay.
01:33:16So this was oh seven.
01:33:17This was this was the one so it's still second third.
01:33:19He hits a he hits a double and ties the game and chase comes up and
01:33:23gets a base hit to win it to walk him off on a four game series.
01:33:27And that was the moment where it was like we can't be stopped and we
01:33:32go we come down.
01:33:34So this is cool.
01:33:34The last day of the season second the last day of the season.
01:33:42I guess it was a second that God damn they all run together.
01:33:44Now.
01:33:45I can we come out of the we come out of the tunnel walking down the
01:33:48tunnel to go to do to run your pregame sprints or whatever and it's
01:33:51like it's fucking loud out there and by the time we got in the dugout,
01:33:57it's like it like cranks it up like, you know, it's like full throttle
01:34:02and we look and it's seven nothing Marlins against the Mets and they
01:34:07like started it like, you know, 105.
01:34:09We're like the 135 game.
01:34:11So it was like seven nothing to start the game and like we like that
01:34:15the place Philly is so fucking cool in this regard.
01:34:18It was going ape shit.
01:34:20I mean everyone's going nuts and we had the game was, you know, we're
01:34:22still 20 minutes till the game.
01:34:24Yeah, and it was like we're like we ain't losing.
01:34:26Yeah, and so we win that game.
01:34:31I think, you know, like a kind of a crazy double play still but that
01:34:34would have made us tied for the set.
01:34:36If we would have lost we've been tied going to the last game of the
01:34:38season, but then we were up.
01:34:39So and then the next day I Charlie told me I wasn't playing.
01:34:43So I was like sitting in there and my shoes.
01:34:45I'll have my spikes off and then Jimmy comes in and says, hey, you're
01:34:52you're up.
01:34:52It's like the ninth thing or something like that.
01:34:54I'm like, I'm up.
01:34:56All right.
01:34:58All right, so I throw my shoes on I got 19 stolen bases on the year and
01:35:03like 24 home runs.
01:35:05So I'm like fuck.
01:35:05I got a chance to go to 2020 and I get it.
01:35:10I get a base hit or I walk or somehow I ended up on first base and I
01:35:14steal second base, you know, dead cold like probably could have like
01:35:18tore hamstring or something.
01:35:19But I went 2020 that year and like I wanted to rip the base out of the
01:35:23ground, but I didn't I didn't because it was only 20 bases.
01:35:28But yeah, that was a that was a you know, that was kind of the start of
01:35:32the the Mets kind of in my mind being the Mets.
01:35:36Yeah.
01:35:37Yeah.
01:35:37Yeah.
01:35:37No, then we did it again the next year and then one World Series.
01:35:40Yeah, it was awesome.
01:35:40I heard just like I was 12 years old during the 07 run.
01:35:43I think that was the first time like that.
01:35:45We made the playoffs that I could really remember sure and then that
01:35:48just set up the Phillies to be like such a good well, if you remember
01:35:52for a little while.
01:35:53Yeah, we were sell out every every night.
01:35:55Oh, yeah, it's like it's like what it is now.
01:35:57Yeah, you know, you watch the Philly games now.
01:35:59Like I mean places going bananas Hank loving it.
01:36:01Yeah, what's the hardest place to play?
01:36:03Is it is it in Philly for me?
01:36:06It was the old Marlin Stadium.
01:36:07It was any anything in Miami was hard.
01:36:09I guess I don't know.
01:36:10I didn't play very good down there.
01:36:11The giant that was a statue inches.
01:36:13Yeah, and what was the other volt Volstad volt Volstad?
01:36:18He was there too.
01:36:19I wasn't very good off him either.
01:36:20He was like, I think he would pitch the next day after I was all fucked
01:36:23up and then he would be like he was like 610.
01:36:25I didn't get any hits off him either.
01:36:27What's the hardest like visuals whether it be batting or in the
01:36:31outfield in the in MLB.
01:36:33So any I'll tell you what the good the good ones are like the ones
01:36:37where they have the flat background.
01:36:38That's like close to the fence like Milwaukee, Arizona, Philly Philly
01:36:42is really good.
01:36:43The tough ones are the ones like Boston where it kind of goes back
01:36:46or they put fans out there at the old Miami Stadium where it would
01:36:48go back for like a long ways.
01:36:50I think that's why I didn't play good.
01:36:51I didn't see very good but you know, San Fran's kind of you know,
01:36:57batters.
01:36:57I sits way far back.
01:36:58Yeah, la is good.
01:37:01Good good place to hit.
01:37:03Yeah, it's funny because you don't even think about it.
01:37:05Like that matters a lot.
01:37:07I would assume.
01:37:08Yeah, a lot in able to see is it's crucial.
01:37:10Yeah, did they change that rule because of the Cubs not having fans
01:37:14that are just in center field cut some time.
01:37:17They used to wear like white shirt shirt.
01:37:19Yeah, when the opposing team is bad and then change into black shirts
01:37:22were some guys.
01:37:23It doesn't bother bother me a lot.
01:37:25Yeah.
01:37:25What about what about just velocity in general for pitchers because
01:37:28we're seeing I think in the all-star game.
01:37:30We had this one guy get in from the A's last night.
01:37:32He threw a bunch of pitches that were above like a hundred two miles
01:37:35an hour.
01:37:36He's stopped out at a hundred three point six.
01:37:38I believe we definitely makes it harder.
01:37:41We've seen a lot of like the velocity has been increasing a lot in
01:37:44the last couple years.
01:37:45Did you notice in your time span when you started playing to the end
01:37:49that pitchers are getting faster?
01:37:50Oh big time.
01:37:51I mean when I came up you guys were still throwing like 80 and 89
01:37:55sinker sliders, you know, like there was none of that left by time.
01:37:59I got out of there like my last year when I came off the DL.
01:38:02I like put one of those those flaps on my my helmet just as like a
01:38:06mockery to how hard everybody was throwing but I made the joke the
01:38:11other day.
01:38:11I was like, you know, I played in like the golden era of baseball is
01:38:15like when it was still pure and like, you know what it was for the last
01:38:19hundred years and then you know now it's like everyone's throwing a
01:38:22hundred and wearing oven mitts.
01:38:23It's turned into this, you know, totally different phenomenon of the
01:38:29sport, you know, no one hits for average.
01:38:31Yeah, you're either striking out or hitting home run.
01:38:33Yeah, I don't know.
01:38:34It's the game's cycles through these things and and the game is still
01:38:38the game.
01:38:38I did a I did a broadcast the other night for the Nats and
01:38:42I still love the sport.
01:38:43I think it's I think it's great.
01:38:45It's just changed.
01:38:46Yeah rules have changed.
01:38:47Does it does it benefit guys?
01:38:49Like I know Kyle Hendricks is on the tail end of his career, but he was
01:38:52always a guy who was like he wasn't throwing more than you know, 91 92
01:38:56and he was kind of a little harder though.
01:38:58Yeah, like is so it does it benefit guys like that who have something
01:39:00a little different than just throwing a hundred and one down the middle.
01:39:04Yeah, I mean I can.
01:39:07I don't know.
01:39:08You know, that's why you always kind of switch up your your pitching
01:39:12rotation.
01:39:12So it's not the same guy every night, right?
01:39:14But I don't know velocity was especially these kids now though.
01:39:17That's they're used to it.
01:39:19That's like they that's all they see.
01:39:20Yeah, you know, we didn't we didn't ever see that and then all of a
01:39:23sudden one guy to come out of the pen throwing a hundred you're like, oh
01:39:25shit this guy's, you know, so it's just different but it is weird that
01:39:30you know, batting averages of plummeted.
01:39:33Yeah, it's interesting with the velocity.
01:39:35It's like the thing that makes the game fun to watch is actually
01:39:39statistically not proven over the long run to make for the best batters.
01:39:45So like home runs and strikeouts not that fun to watch people getting
01:39:49on base the excitement the drama that is fun to watch but the nerds
01:39:53upstairs.
01:39:54They're like, well, if we model this out over the course of a full
01:39:57season, it's not always the best for us.
01:39:58Yeah, baby.
01:39:59Yeah, the twirly bird early birds.
01:40:01Yeah, baseball is caught in this weird place where it's like do we do
01:40:04we want an entertaining product or do we want to win baseball games?
01:40:07I we don't know if this actually proves out to win baseball games over
01:40:10the long run.
01:40:11So it's it's kind of frustrating as a fan someone who used to watch a
01:40:14ton of baseball, right?
01:40:15I agree.
01:40:15I feel like we're losing fans.
01:40:17Yeah.
01:40:18Yeah, by the way, I looked it up.
01:40:19You were actually worse against Chris Volstead.
01:40:21I thought so.
01:40:22Yeah, 3 for 33 and you were 6 for 33 against Annabelle Sanchez.
01:40:26Yeah, equally as awful.
01:40:27Yeah.
01:40:27So in I'm looking at right now, you were awesome against RA Dickey.
01:40:32You just could hit a knuckleball.
01:40:33Yeah, I hit a I hit a homer off Wakefield in Boston and I was with La
01:40:37know for my rookie year.
01:40:38Yeah, and we played a lot of backyard knuckleball wiffle ball when we were
01:40:42kids.
01:40:43Yeah, I just equate it to kind of going back to that.
01:40:46But yeah, I I killed I killed a RA Dickey.
01:40:49Yeah, you you hit 400 against him.
01:40:51So you just like you can see it.
01:40:52So there's like a good you had two home runs against RA Dickey.
01:40:56I was at all.
01:40:56I thought there was more but still I mean you 406 you just throw me if you
01:41:01would throw me fastballs.
01:41:02Really?
01:41:02Yeah, you got tired of me and how intimidating of a picture was Dan
01:41:07Heron and he's a close friend of ours.
01:41:09So feel free to tell I say how great he was Dan.
01:41:13Dan was nasty.
01:41:14Yeah, I play with Dan Washington too.
01:41:15So I got to know him.
01:41:16He's like the best guy.
01:41:18He's like the driest most sarcastic.
01:41:20He's the best funniest dude.
01:41:22Yeah, you said diarrhea every day.
01:41:23He'd pitch.
01:41:24Yeah, Chuck Pepto-Bismol.
01:41:26He said that he would when he was when his last year was with the Cubs.
01:41:28He was like I contemplated retiring every time the wind was blowing out.
01:41:32He kind of he's that's the type of guy was yeah, he's I remember facing him
01:41:37when he was in Arizona, you know, he was just he looked like he was really
01:41:42mean and like you were kind of like, you know, he's a bulldog out there
01:41:45and his stuff was really nasty.
01:41:47But then I play with him and realize he's just so he's a really nice guy
01:41:49nicest dude ever.
01:41:50Yeah nicest dude.
01:41:51Yeah.
01:41:52Yeah.
01:41:52Who are you the best against?
01:41:53I'm looking it up right now.
01:41:55Do you know the best that was like good?
01:41:58Yeah.
01:41:59Um, I was I had some good games against Clayton Kershaw.
01:42:05Yeah, you also hit lefties great.
01:42:07You tuned up Tim Hudson.
01:42:10Yeah, it's all the bros Braves guys.
01:42:11Yeah.
01:42:12D lo hit good off them.
01:42:13Like I played good against the Braves and the Mets.
01:42:18Yeah, wait a minute.
01:42:19Yeah, you you you hit 386 against Tim Hudson with four home runs.
01:42:23Yeah, I remember one time on the bus Rick Ankle was on my team and he was like,
01:42:29hey, did have a Tim Hudson just text me told me you told me to tell you to
01:42:32fuck off.
01:42:35There you go.
01:42:35It feels good going both ways.
01:42:36Yeah, Sanchez and then that.
01:42:38Yeah.
01:42:38How is a dumb question?
01:42:41Just how sick is it did a home run?
01:42:44Oh, it's sick.
01:42:45It's like, yeah, it's sick.
01:42:46So it's the best.
01:42:47I mean you guys hit a ton of them last night.
01:42:49So probably like that because you're so tired.
01:42:52You probably hated it.
01:42:52But yeah, no, it's especially a big one with the with the on the road, you
01:42:58know in a big game when the place is packed and then like you hit it you hit
01:43:02it and you can hear a fucking pin drop.
01:43:04Oh, I'm sure when they do the slow clap then you hit a home run.
01:43:07That's got to be the best feeling in the world and just goes dead silent.
01:43:09Yeah, and then everybody's like fuck and they're all leaving.
01:43:12Yeah, and that's that's that's a pretty good feeling.
01:43:14Yeah.
01:43:14Yeah also must rock to just know that you don't have to run the bases like
01:43:17you can just try to take your time.
01:43:18I like to run the bases.
01:43:19So I think that's part of the game that we're missing out on right now.
01:43:23No one knows how to run the bases.
01:43:24Yeah, you know the whole this whole stealing stolen base rules kind of, you
01:43:28know, messing up the you know, the numbers on the stolen bases and then
01:43:33the guys are making ton of outs on the bases.
01:43:35Yeah, and it's like a when I would coach my kid that summer.
01:43:38I coached my kid.
01:43:39I was like, what who's teaching you guys?
01:43:42What are you guys?
01:43:42I mean, it's it's like a lost art.
01:43:45Yeah, it really is.
01:43:45I agree with that.
01:43:46Do they have the giant sliding mitt?
01:43:48Yeah, and they got all these skits, you know, you got kids 12 year old kids
01:43:51wearing wearing the oven mitt like why yeah, just wear a bigger mitt get like
01:43:57four extra inches.
01:43:58Yeah, just flop it out there and be like I stole just touch second.
01:44:01I mean, I played a long time.
01:44:02I never had any problem sliding the bases with my hands.
01:44:05Yeah.
01:44:06Did you ever have a rivalry against a pitcher that did you ever charge the
01:44:09mound?
01:44:11No, no, I wouldn't put myself in that situation because I saw one on six with
01:44:16a with a guy behind you.
01:44:18It's not not a really I guess one on five with a guy behind.
01:44:21It's not a great place to be not because I did see a video.
01:44:24I think it was you and Jose Fernandez where you stared him down and he would
01:44:28hit me a lot.
01:44:29Yeah, you guys you guys locked eyes and neither one of you would look away.
01:44:32But then by the time you got to third base, I think things were all good.
01:44:35He punched me out that game and then he was like he's running his mouth at me
01:44:39when I had my head down and he punched me out and he stared me down and I
01:44:42didn't see it.
01:44:43So the next about he hits me and I'm like what the fuck you got you got
01:44:47something to say like I was ready to fight then but he was just a kid, you
01:44:50know, I was like 12 years older him or something like that.
01:44:53Yeah.
01:44:54So I was just like what why you know, I got I got to second base and D Gordon
01:44:58was at second base.
01:44:59I was like, what the fuck's what what's his problem?
01:45:01Yeah, I don't even know him like, you know, and I knew D when he was a kid.
01:45:06I play with his dad flash in Philly and he's like, I don't know man.
01:45:09What'd you what'd you do to him?
01:45:10I was like, I'm fucking do anything to him and I got the third name is like
01:45:14looking over me.
01:45:15He's all smiley, you know, and I'm like, what are you looking at me like that
01:45:20for?
01:45:20He's like you were looking at me.
01:45:22I was like, whatever.
01:45:24So I don't know that was a didn't really have too many issues on the field.
01:45:29We got into a lot of fights in the minor leagues.
01:45:32Yeah, but not nothing too bad in the big leagues.
01:45:35I was there for the Bryce Harper fight in San Fran when he throws his helmet
01:45:39sideways.
01:45:39Yeah, it's always yeah, that's a funny one.
01:45:42It was it was interesting because he threw his helmet one of the it was like
01:45:4550 cents first pitch.
01:45:46That's how bad the helmet toss.
01:45:48Yeah, it's hilarious.
01:45:49But then but then his his flow was so good after he took his helmet off.
01:45:52I thought he just took his helmet off to show off his hair.
01:45:54So you had you had Bryce throwing his helmet sideways with his hair.
01:45:58You had Samarja and Mike Morse coming right in between the two of them and
01:46:03they literally like made out.
01:46:05Yeah, Mikey never played again.
01:46:07Like he had like concussion Samarja never played again.
01:46:09Yeah, I ended both of their careers.
01:46:11Yeah, and I was coming in there and I had my hair.
01:46:13It was like the hair Olympic.
01:46:14Yeah.
01:46:15Yeah.
01:46:15And yeah, it was that was that was a good one.
01:46:18It wasn't didn't end up being too bad.
01:46:20We had a little mix mix up with the pirates one time that got a little
01:46:23testy, but for the most part, you know, there's only been a few really bad
01:46:28fights.
01:46:28Yeah, most of them are just they just get everyone chest bumps.
01:46:31Yeah.
01:46:32Yeah.
01:46:33Oh, you try.
01:46:33Yeah, you start with me.
01:46:34All right.
01:46:35So I have one last question.
01:46:36This has been awesome.
01:46:37We appreciate you coming on.
01:46:39It's a rollback question.
01:46:40RHOBACK.com promo code.
01:46:41Take 20% off your first purchase.
01:46:43Q-Zips, polos, hoodies, joggers, shorts, rollback.com promo code.
01:46:47Take you did something that I wish more professional athletes to do and did.
01:46:55It's the coolest thing you can do.
01:46:57I don't know why and more guys don't do it.
01:46:59You retired and then you played like rec league baseball one time and just
01:47:05fucking but okay.
01:47:06So even that one time the bomb you hit get away from the show.
01:47:10God damn awesome.
01:47:11All right.
01:47:11What?
01:47:13First of all, how sick was that?
01:47:15Because like that's honestly, I don't know why like if you are a professional
01:47:18athlete can't win but especially like with the amount of shit talking that
01:47:22happens on social media these days if I were a sick professional athlete the
01:47:27minute I retired I would go play intramurals and just kick the shit out
01:47:31of everyone to be like there's levels bro.
01:47:33All right.
01:47:33So so full disclosure a good buddy of mine became a good buddy of mine.
01:47:39Matt Micah was involved in the congressional baseball team shooting in
01:47:43DC when Steve Scalise got shot.
01:47:46He was there.
01:47:47He got shot twice.
01:47:48I went to go see him in the hospital after that whole thing and that's where
01:47:53I met Matt and like, you know, he was about dead when I met him and I was
01:47:59like a man get, you know, take care of yourself.
01:48:00He played baseball in college.
01:48:01I was like, we'll bring you out to the brought him out to the Nats Park and
01:48:05then the next year he took a little batting practice, but he still got shot
01:48:08in like the hand.
01:48:09So it was right.
01:48:10So years later, I I'm playing with Seattle in the minor leagues my last
01:48:15year pull my hamstring and I I quit.
01:48:18I just like that's a I'm done.
01:48:19I retire and I come home and Matt calls me.
01:48:22He's like, hey man, I'm getting back on the field next week for the first
01:48:26time.
01:48:27Will you come play with me?
01:48:29I don't like fuck all I get.
01:48:30Yeah.
01:48:31I mean I have to so I'm like sure so I go and it's just like, you know, it's
01:48:37probably the worst field that I've ever played on the, you know, it's just
01:48:40a wrecked field or whatever.
01:48:42I ground out.
01:48:43First of all, I'm tuned up for like 95 plus.
01:48:46I'm just retired, right?
01:48:47These guys are throwing like 78.
01:48:48Yeah, so I like ground out the short Bugs Bunny like one, two, three strikes.
01:48:54You're out, you know, like swing three times at a ball strike out my second
01:48:58about and then these fucking guys are like mouthing me, you know, like I
01:49:01don't know this guy is, you know, I'm in DC.
01:49:03Yeah, you know, like there's just so they're like talking shit and the guy
01:49:06goes 30 on me and then it's like the catcher's like whatever and it was like
01:49:10one of those times were like, I'd like the hair stands on the stands up on the
01:49:13back of your neck and I got like fucking mad.
01:49:15Yeah, and then I hit a ball over the moon and I came in, you know, and that
01:49:20was my last trip around the bases that ever really ever.
01:49:23I'll never play that game.
01:49:24That's all over again.
01:49:26And I totally came in.
01:49:27I said, that's it boys.
01:49:28I'm going home and I walked to my car with my full union spikes on got in
01:49:33left.
01:49:33That's how you proved your point though.
01:49:35Like that was a moment where everyone's like clowning you and you're like, no
01:49:38dude, I can, you don't understand the difference between me and you.
01:49:41Yeah.
01:49:41So that was, you know, and it goes around social media like quarterly and
01:49:46I hope people will send it to me like, are you playing rec league?
01:49:48Yeah, it was like 20, uh, that was 2018.
01:49:51So it's been a while.
01:49:52Why you wouldn't, you wouldn't, you wouldn't do it for softball.
01:49:54I don't think, uh, just fucking mad.
01:49:57No, I would not play softball.
01:49:58Absolutely not.
01:49:59I was, if you would have called me and said, Hey, I, uh, we need you to come
01:50:03in and, uh, get us home last night.
01:50:06Yeah.
01:50:06I mean, I, I maybe would have, you know, slammed a six pack on the way over
01:50:10there and, and, uh, and, and came in hot, but, um, it would have to be for a
01:50:15good cause.
01:50:16I don't think I'd, I'd lay some up and go, go run around the outfield or do
01:50:20anything like that.
01:50:20Yeah.
01:50:21For a good cause could just be to feel good one day.
01:50:24Yeah.
01:50:24Just show up just to dominate someone.
01:50:26I'm not, I'm not there mentally right now.
01:50:28Okay.
01:50:28Yeah.
01:50:29Well, we might need you on a barstool softball team because that's also my
01:50:32dream is just doing a barstool softball team and then just like one week just
01:50:36showing up with like five X MLB guys.
01:50:38You ever see that episode of the Simpsons Homer at the bat?
01:50:40Yeah.
01:50:41They get the entire team and just MLB players.
01:50:43Yeah.
01:50:43Yeah.
01:50:44Yeah.
01:50:44That's what we're going to do when we face off against like bleacher report.
01:50:46We can just buy some horses too and go get fired up about it.
01:50:50No, I want to, I want to see you do and see me hit tanks.
01:50:53Yeah, I get it.
01:50:54Yeah.
01:50:55I'll consider it.
01:50:55Um, do you have any more horses?
01:50:57Yeah.
01:50:58I got a few.
01:50:58Any, any good ones that are like a level of store?
01:51:01Yeah.
01:51:01Yeah.
01:51:01So, uh, I own this horse named drip and a drip was supposed to be the, the
01:51:07favorite in the Tampa Bay Derby.
01:51:08Tampa Bay Derby is winning.
01:51:10You're in the Derby.
01:51:10Yeah.
01:51:11And he scratched that week.
01:51:12And, uh, but he ran the fifth fastest time of the year on his first race.
01:51:16And, uh, we think he's, we think he's really talented.
01:51:19Uh, he's with Whit Beckman, the trainer and, uh, his workmate was honor Marie
01:51:24and he was working out working on a Marie by like a length every time.
01:51:27I was kicking his ass.
01:51:28Wow.
01:51:28And we joke that drip made honor Marie because I'm already gotten the, you
01:51:32know, ran the Derby ran like.
01:51:34Eighth and then ran fourth in the Belmont nice horse, but it's not real big
01:51:37and drip just drip towers over good.
01:51:39He's a good magic sire.
01:51:40Same as Doric.
01:51:41And, uh, I think he'll, he'll be, he'll run.
01:51:44We're kind of pointing him to the big races next year.
01:51:46Like, I don't know.
01:51:47I've got this crazy dream.
01:51:48Maybe, maybe he runs in like the DUI cup or the Saudi Saudi Derby or something.
01:51:52Or the breeders.
01:51:53Yeah.
01:51:53And then the breeders at the end of the year.
01:51:55So, um, he's really, he's, he would be the only other horse that I have.
01:51:58That's really good.
01:51:59It's a nice drip.
01:52:00It's a great name.
01:52:01Do you have any input into the names of the horses?
01:52:03I didn't on that one actually, but I do on some of them.
01:52:05Uh, Doric, uh, was, is a cool story.
01:52:08I was actually in, in Scotland playing, um, playing Royal Dornick, the golf
01:52:13course with, with Utley.
01:52:15And, uh, and I came home the next week I came home, I called the trainer.
01:52:18I was like, Hey, how's that horse doing?
01:52:20And he's like, oh, really good.
01:52:21I was like, did you, have you named him yet?
01:52:23He's like, yeah.
01:52:24Uh, uh, Larry named him, um, uh, Dornick or something.
01:52:28I'm like, like the fucking golf course.
01:52:30That's nuts.
01:52:31And he's like, I think so.
01:52:32I was like, when I was just there.
01:52:34He's like, yeah, last week.
01:52:35So literally while I was playing Royal Dornick with, with Chase, the guys named
01:52:40the horse Dornick unbeknownst to me being there or anything like that.
01:52:43Wow.
01:52:44It was meant to be.
01:52:44Yeah.
01:52:45Then he went, then he runs 10th in the Derby and wins the Belmont.
01:52:48That's incredible.
01:52:49Incredible.
01:52:50Well, uh, Jason, thank you so much.
01:52:52We appreciate it.
01:52:53It's great having you on that for life.
01:52:55I finally made it.
01:52:55Yeah.
01:52:56Finally made it.
01:52:57Yeah.
01:52:57Life complete.
01:52:58You made it before, after you hit that home run off that random dude in the
01:53:03instrument.
01:53:04Did you pimp it?
01:53:04Did you stare him down?
01:53:05I'm not really.
01:53:06I have the, uh, my, my best, my best pimp job ever was off Carlos more mall and
01:53:11at Nat's park late when he was later in his year, cause he would always pimp
01:53:14everybody with the Cubs.
01:53:15We probably good.
01:53:16And I got him a 300 home pimp the fuck out.
01:53:18It was my favorite.
01:53:19It was my favorite pimp of my career.
01:53:21I wasn't, I didn't pimp much.
01:53:23Cause it wasn't really, that wasn't the thing back then.
01:53:25Yeah, no.
01:53:26I mean the, the, the home run against, I do watch it like once, once or twice a
01:53:31year just cause it's so fucking awesome cause you hit it so far and it's the
01:53:35rec league one.
01:53:35Yeah.
01:53:36Yeah.
01:53:36Yeah.
01:53:36It was a good one.
01:53:36Yeah.
01:53:37How's it going?
01:53:37All right.
01:53:37Thanks so much, Jason.
01:53:38Bye guys.
01:53:41Jason worth was brought to you by Chevy.
01:53:43As everyone knows, this is a Chevy truck podcast, the greatest trucks ever built

01:53:52We drove across the country in a Chevy Silverado.
01:53:55We had four people in that truck and it felt roomy.
01:53:57It felt comfortable.
01:53:58It was a great drive.
01:53:59No mechanic, no mechanical issues except for when Billy drove over nail.
01:54:03He, I think he did that on purpose, but that's not Chevy's fault.
01:54:06The truck's awesome.
01:54:07We love Chevy.
01:54:08The Chevy Silverado has also sparked sponsored the low man trophy for the last
01:54:14I believe four or five years.
01:54:15They're a great partner.
01:54:16We awarded every single college football season to the nation's top collegiate
01:54:20fullback and Chevrolet and the Silverado have been a part of it all.

01:55:36And now here's Xander shuffling.
01:55:39Okay, we now welcome on recurring guests friend of the program now two-time
01:55:44major winner.
01:55:46It is the open champion Xander shuffling Xander.
01:55:50First of all, congrats.
01:55:51I mean, it's it's nuts that that we're at two now just like that got some
01:55:57questions about winning it, but I wanted to start real quick.
01:56:01We watched obviously the entire open championship.
01:56:04We're bad golfers.
01:56:05We're regular golf fans.
01:56:07Just how hard was that course especially with the wind like in regular golfer
01:56:12terms, like how bad would we be on that course?
01:56:16Really bad.
01:56:18It's my thought there because it seemed it seemed miserable at times.
01:56:23Saturday was Saturday was really bad, you know with a little bit of wind
01:56:27and rain.
01:56:28It was it would have been a good day to watch golf on TV.
01:56:32No doubt.
01:56:32Yeah.
01:56:33Yeah, it's much more fun.
01:56:34I would imagine seeing on TV than being even a spectator at that that golf
01:56:38tournament because you're dealing with the rain the wind the elements the
01:56:41the patrons of Royal true and have a hard time just like the golfers.
01:56:46Congratulations.
01:56:46Like Big Cat said very happy for you got to know your dad said he was going
01:56:51to drink wine out of the clear jug.
01:56:53Did you get to drink something out of the jug before he did or he just take
01:56:56it from you?
01:56:57He's like, let's fill this up with them all back.
01:57:00Red wine was the first thing poured into it.
01:57:02Yeah, and he immediately I had to go do media after the the ceremony on the
01:57:06green and as soon as we got in the car, he basically took the trophy off me
01:57:11and then they're like, you know, you should probably give it back to your
01:57:14kid for the rest of media run.
01:57:18Yeah.
01:57:18Yeah.
01:57:18I mean, but it mean it was his first major because he obviously wasn't there
01:57:22for when you won your first.
01:57:24So how like what was it like having him there?
01:57:27First of all, when we saw him he you didn't do him justice.
01:57:30He's a hoss and I mean that in the best way possible like an intimidating guy
01:57:34had the hat on was drinking out of a flask.
01:57:37But what was it like?
01:57:38Like what was it like after the the round and just like getting to actually
01:57:42celebrate it with him for the first time?
01:57:45It was it was awesome.
01:57:46You know the when I called him after Valhalla how he looked on TV was exactly
01:57:53how he sounded on the phone after Valhalla.
01:57:55So if you want to put those two together, he's a he is an ugly crier.
01:57:58No doubt and it was it was it was awesome though, you know, I had to have
01:58:02my whole family there, you know, my uncle's my agent.
01:58:05My wife was there just the people that have been with me for such a long time
01:58:09and you know, my dad is European and this is he is an American citizen now,
01:58:15but you know, this is like the one he really wanted and you know, I'm not
01:58:21picky but for me to deliver this one to him in person is probably the coolest
01:58:26thing and I don't know if I can top that, you know, the gold medal was up
01:58:28there, but this is you know, right there with it.
01:58:31Yeah.
01:58:31I mean it was very it was it was an awesome Sunday to watch you were so
01:58:35locked in.
01:58:36Did you at what hole?
01:58:38Maybe it was in the back nine.
01:58:39Maybe it was in the front nine, but I feel like it was the back nine, but
01:58:41what hole were you like the I'm here.
01:58:44I'm locked in.
01:58:45I'm winning this thing.
01:58:47After I birdied 14.
01:58:50I was able to there's a huge board on 15 and I 15 is such a hard hole, but
01:58:55it was, you know, suit like crazy left to right and I was like you can I've
01:58:58hit that fairway every day and I was like you just got hit this very one
01:59:01more time kid.
01:59:02I was like just hit the fairway and you're going to have like a wedge or
01:59:04nine iron or eight iron in and after I hit that fairway get you know, like
01:59:09little fist pump inside because I was like, okay, we're dancing like this
01:59:13is you know, this is my tournament to lose like I only I can mess this one
01:59:17up.
01:59:17So a little bit of added pressure in that moment, but I felt like I really
01:59:22took control after I birdied 14.
01:59:24Yeah.
01:59:25Yeah was did the did the thought of like a van de Velde even enter your
01:59:29mind because I feel like if I was if I was winning at the Open Championship,
01:59:34I wouldn't be able to stop myself from thinking about it.
01:59:36I just be like keep your shoes on.
01:59:38That's incredible.
01:59:40Luckily, there were no burns ripping through the rest of the property.
01:59:44So.
01:59:46I really I took a really deep breath after I hit the 17th green.
01:59:50It's a very difficult hole after I hit that green.
01:59:52I took a huge huge breath because I knew you know, I had at least a two
01:59:56shot lead.
01:59:57I was expecting guys to birdie 16 behind me, but I knew that I was in a
02:00:01really good spot and you know 18 is iron iron, you know, I hit three iron
02:00:06eight iron, you know, so it wasn't it's not to have a two or three shot lead
02:00:10going into 18.
02:00:11It's a very nice thing to have because yeah, it is, you know, not the most
02:00:15intimidating tee shot with an iron.
02:00:16Yeah, somewhat idiot proof at that point.
02:00:18I feel like in the open the the caddies do a lot of great work for the
02:00:22golfers maybe more so than in some other tournaments because you have to
02:00:25know as you're approaching each green like you have to hit you have to land
02:00:28some of your shots 10 yards 15 yards short of the green are they giving you
02:00:33specific spots and like how much time did your caddy spend studying all the
02:00:37hills and all the slopes that are right at the front of that green?
02:00:41Yeah.
02:00:42So, you know, Austin's my boy.
02:00:43He's been caddying for me since you know, I'm my dad caddy caddy for me for
02:00:47a few events and he got can but guys guys has been with me for ever since
02:00:51I've been playing and corn fairy up through the tour and he's incredible.
02:00:56He does a really good job and I definitely feel like he gives me that sort of
02:01:01edge or advantage that you were talking about on properties that you know,
02:01:04aren't super known on tour, you know, whenever we play us opens or opens or
02:01:09PGA.
02:01:09So there's these big championship style golf courses where more information
02:01:13the better especially if you haven't played it much and you know, guys guys
02:01:17is he's good for walking, you know, I mean he has that little Apple watch or
02:01:21whatever and you know, I think last year at the open he he locked like 30,000
02:01:25steps one day.
02:01:26So he's just out there walking trying to like you said figure out every little
02:01:31mogul every little bounce where it can go can't go all those types of things
02:01:36and he's funny, you know on 14.
02:01:39It was a really big moment because I was kind of like I might hit five iron and
02:01:43he was like, it's a six iron and I was like, okay, it's a six iron.
02:01:48I was like, this is aggressive.
02:01:49He's like just hit it between the bunkers.
02:01:50I don't know if you guys remember that part three.
02:01:51Yeah, two coffins like the flagstick and then two coffins in the green and he's
02:01:57like just hit it between the bunkers and of course I was so locked in I hit it
02:02:01in between the bunker.
02:02:01It's like a really good iron shot in there to like whatever 12 feet and I
02:02:04remember after I hit the shot.
02:02:05I looked at him.
02:02:06I was like just hit it between the bunkers.
02:02:07Like is that nice?
02:02:10Yeah, just hit it up.
02:02:13Just hole out.
02:02:14Yeah.
02:02:15Yeah, just hit a good shot.
02:02:17That's all you got to do.
02:02:18All right, so I'm fascinated.
02:02:19Obviously golf is so much mental and this year has been incredible for you
02:02:23with two majors and you were going into this year one of the guys that was
02:02:28like, hey, can he win the big one because he's been so good, but he hasn't
02:02:32won a major.
02:02:33So after you win the first one, you're winning the second one.
02:02:35Was it easier mentally?
02:02:37What did you feel like?
02:02:38Hey, I've been here.
02:02:39I know it the pressure isn't the same as it was during the first one.
02:02:42And is it doesn't feel kind of like the the top is off now.
02:02:46Like this is the sky's the limit.
02:02:47Yeah, I mean the expectations are gonna have to get reeled in here, you know,
02:02:51I don't think I would have won this one if I you know, my head was, you know
02:02:54through the roof for too long, but that's going to be something I need to
02:02:57work on just to you know, set the bar right and then keep moving along like
02:03:00we've always been moving along.
02:03:01But yeah, I mean totally different feelings for both.
02:03:06I was significantly more nervous at the PGA just the back and forth holes
02:03:11playing a little bit easier.
02:03:13The style of golf was so different and then you know, everyone was like,
02:03:16And then, you know, everyone was so bunched up not that people weren't
02:03:19bunched up at this one, but the back nine at this Trune golf course is so
02:03:24freaking hard.
02:03:24And if you hit good shots and you make birdies on these holes where no one
02:03:28else is making birdies, you will you will gain an advantage.
02:03:32And so to me, you know, I wouldn't have been as calm at Trune if it wasn't
02:03:36for Valhalla, but I was way more nervous at Valhalla than I was at Trune.
02:03:39So it's kind of funny how the two kind of paired up and how different they
02:03:42were.
02:03:43Yeah.
02:03:43All right.
02:03:43So I got a tip for you because if we're trying to stay humble not go, you know,
02:03:47go through the roof.
02:03:48Have you thought about maybe changing the golf shoes?
02:03:50No offense to your golf shoes, but the all-black shoes are tough because you
02:03:56kind of look like a server like you look like you're going to pass me some like
02:03:59bacon-wrapped scallops.
02:04:01So maybe that's maybe we got to work on that part of our game.
02:04:05That's the next step.
02:04:06That's humbling.
02:04:07Yeah, you know when they look like shit, dude, they look like shit.
02:04:12Come on.
02:04:13I got I got nothing for you.
02:04:15You know, this is my shoe sponsor.
02:04:16They wanted me to wear contrasting contrasting, you know colors.
02:04:21Yeah, go white and then black stripes.
02:04:23That's easy.
02:04:24Okay, you know, I can do that.
02:04:26You know what I mean?
02:04:27Yeah, I just I figured you know, I was sitting there and you know, spending
02:04:30such a long time getting ready before I went to the course.
02:04:33Yeah.
02:04:34Yeah, you look slow.
02:04:36Yeah.
02:04:36Yeah, right.
02:04:36You might ask my golfers to look like Adidas makes great shoes.
02:04:40I don't give a shit what I look like.
02:04:42Well, I'd see that see that's a problem.
02:04:44You're you're you're through the roof.
02:04:46You're we gotta humble you.
02:04:48I don't have to look at me when I'm playing.
02:04:51Okay.
02:04:51Well, I'm very true.
02:04:52I'm telling you.
02:04:53I do have to look at my shoes.
02:04:55Yes, but if you I do feel good.
02:04:57So as long as I feel good and then you know, the shoes are the shoes.
02:05:01I wore those black shoes at the freaking PGA and one with them.
02:05:03Yeah, had the same complaint.
02:05:05I'm just saying if we're trying to work on our game, if we're trying to
02:05:08find different ways to get better.
02:05:10He said it like what white shoes look faster.
02:05:13I think maybe go, you know, white with maybe blue stripes because Adidas
02:05:17makes great shoes great sponsor, but I we're just trying to get you better.
02:05:22You know what?
02:05:23Let me show you something better and faster or two things.
02:05:25I'll definitely take some.
02:05:26Yeah, maybe.
02:05:27I mean, let me show you something.
02:05:28See these.
02:05:29These are black Adidas shoes.
02:05:30I like them.
02:05:31I can't see him.
02:05:32I don't hang on.
02:05:33Hang on.
02:05:33Hold on.
02:05:34Hold on.
02:05:34He's gonna get him.
02:05:34He's flexible.
02:05:35Wait.
02:05:36Yep.
02:05:37I okay.
02:05:38I am not an athlete.
02:05:39I look slow as fuck and Shores and short make you look shorter.
02:05:42You look short.
02:05:43I'm actually six feet tall.
02:05:45But when I wear these everyone's like, oh, PFT is 5-8.
02:05:47Yeah, don't be don't be afraid to, you know, let your body hit the sun
02:05:51every once in a while either.
02:05:52You know, okay.
02:05:53Yeah, I'll check that out.
02:05:54Listen, I'm not good.
02:05:55See, we can take it back, you know, better podcasting.
02:05:58I'm really tan and I've been podcasting my balls off.
02:06:00There you go.
02:06:01So, um, who is the fastest golfer on tour?
02:06:04You guys ever race?
02:06:06Not me.
02:06:07The fastest would probably be oh gosh who hits really fast.
02:06:12There's a few guys.
02:06:13I mean, I can't think of anyone right now to be honest, but there's a
02:06:15few guys who just I mean Dustin was he would hit so fast Matt Jones
02:06:19of both two guys.
02:06:20I went to live or like the fastest guys I've ever played with.
02:06:23There's a few guys.
02:06:23I'm trying to think of the guys that are unbelievably fast in our
02:06:26tour now.
02:06:26I'm not talking about about clubhead speed or ball speed.
02:06:29I mean like fast like because you look slow.
02:06:31Yeah fastest runner.
02:06:33We play golf for a living dude.
02:06:34We're like camels.
02:06:35Yeah, we're just supposed to just flop around until we get to the
02:06:39finish line.
02:06:40Yeah, not running out there.
02:06:43Yeah, Ricky's fast.
02:06:43He looks like his legs can move pretty quickly.
02:06:46Yeah, I think so.
02:06:47My cat, you know, my caddy is a little top-heavy, but he's pretty
02:06:50quick.
02:06:50He's got some quick legs.
02:06:51That's a good way to say it.
02:06:52Top head top heavy.
02:06:53I call myself top heavy.
02:06:55Did you have a talk with Scotty after I know your friends of them
02:06:59being like because listen, we didn't put an asterisk on your PGA
02:07:04Championship, but some people did because Scotty got arrested.
02:07:07So we like hey asterisks off.
02:07:09I did it and you didn't even get arrested this time.
02:07:12Yeah, actually.
02:07:12Thanks for reminding me.
02:07:13I was meant to send a bottle of wine to that police officer.
02:07:17If you got feel good, it's a it for it.
02:07:20Now the asterisk is off of PGA Championship because if you'd only
02:07:23won that one we would have been like, yeah, despite my slowness.
02:07:27Yes.
02:07:28Yep and bad style lack of speed.
02:07:31Yeah.
02:07:31Yep lack of speed.
02:07:33I'm legit now.
02:07:34Yes.
02:07:34Yeah.
02:07:34Yes, you got the stamp of approval.
02:07:36You actually can golf.
02:07:37You're a good golfer.
02:07:41This has been really helpful for me guys.
02:07:42Thank you.
02:07:43One can be a fluke.
02:07:44Anyone can win a major.
02:07:45I could win a major.
02:07:46I just played the best golf in my life, especially when Scotty gets
02:07:48arrested.
02:07:49I could have won this.
02:07:49This was actually harder for you to beat Scotty because he was
02:07:53naturally driving on the wrong side of the road over there.
02:07:55So he probably felt very comfortable in Scotland.
02:07:56Yeah, so I want to ask you about your good friend.
02:08:02Patrick can't lay.
02:08:03Do you guys just know going into every tournament at some point?
02:08:07You'll be right next to each other on the leaderboard.
02:08:09It's always going to say at some point Shoffley can't lay and then
02:08:13everyone's going to be like, okay, I used to think you were the same
02:08:15guy.
02:08:16Well, he's white.
02:08:16I'm tan.
02:08:17I mean, he could be whiter than you to be honest.
02:08:19There's a chance.
02:08:20Yeah, unlikely.
02:08:21But yeah, you guys you guys just always kind of find your way
02:08:24together.
02:08:25Yeah, this is actually the first time we were paired together with
02:08:28Tiger Thursday Friday and quite some time and then we were paired
02:08:31together Saturday and like two or three days in a row.
02:08:34We were matching sweaters, which was not intentional.
02:08:38We got to the practice practice green.
02:08:41We're like God damn.
02:08:42I was like, damn it.
02:08:43I mean, why not?
02:08:44We'll just shine together.
02:08:47Yeah, I mean you you will work on the fashion part.
02:08:50All right.
02:08:50So I had one what you guys next time I'm going out to make sure
02:08:54I'm dialed.
02:08:55Yeah, we'll get you.
02:08:56We'll get you right.
02:08:57I had one last question.
02:08:58Rowback question.
02:08:59Rhoback.com promo code.
02:09:01Take 20% off your first purchase.
02:09:02Q-zips, polos, hoodies, joggers, shorts, great polos for the golf.
02:09:05So you're now about to play in the Olympics, right?
02:09:08Yep.
02:09:08So how what what is Olympic golf compared to like playing in the
02:09:13majors?
02:09:13Like how to what's the pressure like is it is it wildly different?
02:09:18Like how do you how do you approach Olympic golf?
02:09:21It's pretty different.
02:09:22I mean, you're you're essentially on a team kind of but it's the
02:09:26same.
02:09:27I mean, I approach it the same way to be honest.
02:09:29It's a 72 hole stroke play.
02:09:31Yeah, and there's 60 guys and everyone's, you know, playing under
02:09:35the country and everyone wants to win and only, you know, I think
02:09:38the emphasis on second and third is a lot more than a normal
02:09:41tournament, you know, you podium versus if you, you know, don't
02:09:46do well and you come in second or third or if you're doing well
02:09:49and then you fail at the end you feel like a you know, one of
02:09:53Those and I think you know in the Olympics everyone's fighting
02:09:57to finish in the top three more so than any tournament.
02:09:59I'd say yeah.
02:10:00Have you thought about getting the Olympic rings tattooed on you?
02:10:03That's what all Olympians do.
02:10:04Yeah, maybe I'll just do them in all black.
02:10:10Just look extra slow.
02:10:12Listen, I I feel like you, you know, you might not like that.
02:10:15We we came at your shoes.
02:10:17But again, I think that you're going to have a lot of people walking
02:10:20around being like Xander.
02:10:21You're the best Xander.
02:10:22Oh my God to two majors call for the year.
02:10:25Just remember whenever you want to get humbled you come back here
02:10:28and we'll find something to nitpick you.
02:10:30You guys, I mean you guys have ever had a conversation with my
02:10:33dad.
02:10:33Yeah, he can humble you pretty quickly.
02:10:35Yeah, let's do it.
02:10:36Let's have a humble off.
02:10:37It's important.
02:10:37I love to have mom.
02:10:38It's really important to have haters.
02:10:42Would he try?
02:10:43I'm going to think now that you guys are I'm going to I'm going
02:10:46to draw you two up as haters right now.
02:10:47Yeah, you know what?
02:10:50Bolton board.
02:10:50We like you so much that I'll gladly have you hate us.
02:10:53Yeah, just because I want to see you succeed.
02:10:56I don't I don't hate.
02:10:56I don't really hate anyone to be honest.
02:10:58I'm not really I'm you know, I'm from San Diego.
02:11:00We're all just go with the chill like chill vibes, you know what
02:11:03I mean?
02:11:03Yeah, or whatever color shoe you want to wear.
02:11:06It's not a big deal.
02:11:07Yeah.
02:11:07All right.
02:11:08We got to get you to hate us.
02:11:09We got to we got to just Bolton board.
02:11:10I can do it.
02:11:11I I'm very confident in my ability to shoot you off from a hit.
02:11:15Yeah, I hate you guys are not I had one last question for you.
02:11:19What is the softly way?
02:11:22Is that something my dad said I it probably is it's your
02:11:25training especially your Olympic training.
02:11:29What did he say?
02:11:30I don't even know.
02:11:32So I've got I've got a note here.
02:11:33I'll read you what the note says because this is what this is
02:11:36what the tour is sending out about you.
02:11:37It says that you have learned discipline from your father and
02:11:40his Olympic training.
02:11:41They call it the softly way.
02:11:43That's what he calls it.
02:11:45You know, it's probably you know, it's that it's kind of got
02:11:50like some kind of weird ring to it, I guess but or maybe the
02:11:53tour coin did that.
02:11:54I'm not really sure but it's the softly way is just my dad's
02:11:56half French half German.
02:11:57So growing up it was, you know, my mom is Taiwanese grew up
02:12:00in Japan.
02:12:01So, you know, we have the axis, you know what I mean?
02:12:03I'm the allies.
02:12:04My parents are the access be you know, we're on that side
02:12:07of the world and discipline is something that I grew up with
02:12:13so hard work and didn't you know, I always watch my parents.
02:12:15They're super disciplined.
02:12:16They're super hard working and maybe that's a shot for the
02:12:19way. I'm not really sure but it has to be something along
02:12:21those lines of you know, how they were sort of raised and
02:12:24they're, you know, countries.
02:12:27Yeah, it's like it's all tattooed in there.
02:12:30I like the softly way shop that way.
02:12:32I feel like your dad's sitting there watching you win Majors
02:12:35and he's like that's the softly way and you're in your head.
02:12:38You're like, I don't even know what the fuck he's talking
02:12:40about.
02:12:42This is the softly way.
02:12:45I love that.
02:12:46Yeah, look slower than you are that way.
02:12:48You'll surprise people.
02:12:48Yeah softly way softly way sneaky fast.
02:12:52Yeah, just actively quick.
02:12:53Yeah, you're you are deceptively quick.
02:12:55You're you are slower than people think.
02:13:01Be fair though.
02:13:01Maybe I'll just keep wearing the black and white shoes because
02:13:03I am a slow learner.
02:13:04Yeah, I mean how long to win two majors, you know, I'm saying
02:13:07so but the lids off now.
02:13:10Actually, I did have one last thing.
02:13:11So when you win this time, it's a little bit different because
02:13:14you had to wait it wasn't like, you know, you make your putt
02:13:17tournament over your major champion.
02:13:20Did you feel like you had to kind of tamper down your celebration
02:13:23because you had to wait for other people behind you to
02:13:25finish?
02:13:27Yeah.
02:13:27Yeah.
02:13:27I mean, you just never know when it's over and you know, the
02:13:30last board I saw was on 15.
02:13:33So but the way everyone was kind of behaving and I was like,
02:13:37you know, I when I got up I saw that I had a three shot lead
02:13:41when I was on the last hole and it was like, you know, it's
02:13:44weird.
02:13:44I was walking with Austin.
02:13:45I was just I was trying to take it all in because that that
02:13:47walk up 18 with the yellow leaderboards, you know, that is
02:13:50like if you're a golfer, that's that's the sickest thing ever,
02:13:54you know, you get I got chills when I was walking up to the
02:13:56green because I was like this is the standing of everyone stands
02:13:58up and you take your hat off you wait, you know, you're
02:14:00appreciative of everything and I'm sitting there walking with
02:14:02one of my best buds and it was like this is pretty freaking
02:14:05cool.
02:14:06Like this is sick and then I was like, oh shit.
02:14:08I still have to putt like I can't yam this 18 footer, you
02:14:10know, four feet by mess this up.
02:14:12So I quickly kind of lock back in and like you said, I didn't
02:14:16want to let my mind wander too much.
02:14:17I was just, you know, it's done when it's done and you know,
02:14:21I'm a big believer in that.
02:14:22So yeah, maybe I you know, I didn't really really feel the
02:14:26need to celebrate or anything because I wasn't sure if I was
02:14:28going to win, you know, someone could make a hole in one on
02:14:3017 and hole or hole out on 18 or something like that.
02:14:32So I just I mean how much of an ass what I look like if I was
02:14:35sitting there just like, you know, over-the-top celebrating
02:14:38and then just get absolutely shafted in the end.
02:14:41Yeah, it is what it is.
02:14:42So the big moment of celebration comes when they take that
02:14:45that last stroke where it's like, okay, they mathematically
02:14:48can't win now and then exactly.
02:14:50And then yeah, once you know, I think they had a hole out from
02:14:53the fairway on 18 and you know after they didn't hole out.
02:14:56It's statistically or mathematically impossible to tie and
02:15:00then it was over.
02:15:01Yeah.
02:15:01Yeah.
02:15:02All right.
02:15:02Well Xander, thank you so much.
02:15:03Have you thought maybe you're just never going to lose a major
02:15:06again?
02:15:09What happened to this whole humble thing that we're just saying
02:15:11I just got started thinking like because that's how I think
02:15:14about everything.
02:15:14Like whenever I whenever I play anything, I'm like, what if
02:15:17I just like if I'm playing beer pong?
02:15:18I'm like, what if I just never miss like have you thought
02:15:21about that?
02:15:22Maybe maybe you just will never lose it.
02:15:24You've already lost your last major.
02:15:27That's crazy.
02:15:28Yeah, that's crazy.
02:15:29US Open was the last major you'll ever lose.
02:15:33Whoa.
02:15:34What if you just retired right now?
02:15:36John L.
02:15:37That would be the hottest take on PMT ever.
02:15:42Yeah.
02:15:43Yeah.
02:15:43Xander Shoffley has lost his last major ever.
02:15:46That's my gosh.
02:15:48Yeah, not my words here.
02:15:50We're going to bet you accordingly.
02:15:52Yeah, so we will let you know if you do not live up to
02:15:54expectations.
02:15:55If I can parlay all for this is what's great about the media.
02:15:58It's like we spend years saying like, I don't know if Xander
02:16:01is ever going to win a big one.
02:16:02Then you went to who's your guy now?
02:16:04We talk about we don't need to find that.
02:16:07I don't have to talk about our guy or who might be our guy
02:16:11Max, but after he's a good friend after we spend all these
02:16:14years saying like you can't win a big one.
02:16:16Now every time you don't win a major we're going to be like
02:16:18what a disappointment from this guy.
02:16:20Yeah, like he's off.
02:16:21He's overrated you swing to overrated so quickly these days
02:16:25absolutely disgusting.
02:16:26He needs to change his shoes.
02:16:27Yeah.
02:16:27Yeah.
02:16:28All right.
02:16:28Well we did I feel like we did a good job.
02:16:29We broke you down.
02:16:30We built you back up.
02:16:31The Shoffley way.
02:16:32That's good.
02:16:33All in 20 minutes.
02:16:35I feel refreshed.
02:16:36I'm ready to go.
02:16:38All right.
02:16:38Thanks so much Xander.
02:16:39We appreciate it.
02:16:39We'll talk to you after you win the Masters and the gold medal
02:16:42in the gold medal.
02:16:43Yeah.
02:16:43Okay.
02:16:44Got it.
02:16:44Everything.
02:16:45All right.
02:16:46See you man.
02:16:46Congrats.
02:16:48Welcome back to another Fyre Fest of the week brought to you
02:16:50by our friends at Morgan and Morgan.
02:16:52You know, it really sucks not being around for Fyre Fest of
02:16:56the week.
02:16:56Maybe our favorite segment of the week.
02:16:58Yep, and not being here is a real bummer for everybody involved,
02:17:00but you know, it doesn't suck calling Morgan and Morgan.
02:17:04They can help you get what you deserve.
02:17:06Well, they can't help your presence at work your attitude
02:17:09at work your haircut.
02:17:11What they can do is they can fight to get you full and fair
02:17:14compensation.
02:17:15When you get injured their fee is free unless they win for
02:17:18more information.
02:17:18Go to for the people.com slash PMT or dial pound law pound
02:17:22five to nine from your cell phone.
02:17:25Okay, Fyre Fest of the week.
02:17:26Hank is not here.
02:17:27That's my Fyre Fest and I have a real Fyre Fest, but I miss
02:17:30Hank. I kind of miss Hank.
02:17:32Yeah, just whatever his face would be right now.
02:17:35I miss the idea of Hank.
02:17:37Yeah, I miss just having somebody I can get angry at.
02:17:40Huey, you want to start?
02:17:42Cause Hank's not here.
02:17:42Yeah.
02:17:43All right.
02:17:43Give us your Fyre Fest.
02:17:44So my Fyre Fest is coaching softball, particularly me.
02:17:50Yeah, I heard you were a really bad coach.
02:17:52Yeah.
02:17:52No, this is I was a bad coach.
02:17:55The report.
02:17:55I bet the report I got was you guys at they asked Huey to
02:17:59coach because Pug is off the team.
02:18:02Yeah, he needed some time off.
02:18:03Because you resign.
02:18:04Well, he might be back in a remote role.
02:18:07You signed up for softball on nights that we were like you
02:18:09have to work.
02:18:11I know.
02:18:11I don't.
02:18:13Yeah.
02:18:13Yeah.
02:18:14So anyway, what I heard and I would like to hear Huey's side
02:18:17was Huey was made the coach and all he did was chirp and like
02:18:22be an asshole to his own team.
02:18:24Okay.
02:18:25Hand up.
02:18:28That was wrong.
02:18:28Wrong with me.
02:18:30Wrong with me to do everything I've done.
02:18:33I can make excuses, but none of them would surmount to anything
02:18:38excusable.
02:18:40But here I go.
02:18:44I wasn't aware of what they were expecting of me.
02:18:48I didn't know, you know, I had to keep track of out and the
02:18:53score.
02:18:54Yeah.
02:18:54Those are two big ones that I did not was not aware of.
02:18:57I probably should have asked more questions before I accepted
02:19:00the job.
02:19:01I think that's fair to say and I just, you know, I then we
02:19:07went off against another team.
02:19:08They had they had uniforms and they had they had drills in
02:19:11between each inning and we they had pregame drills.
02:19:16They at least had pregame drills and are you you're not a
02:19:20baseball guy?
02:19:21I'm like throwing it around.
02:19:22The diamond is one drill.
02:19:24Like was the third baseman was the first baseman throwing
02:19:27grounders to the shortstop in third base and then they were
02:19:30throwing it back to him.
02:19:32Yeah, that sounds like it was.
02:19:33Yeah, it's not really true.
02:19:34Max.
02:19:34What was this warming up in between?
02:19:36What did pug do when he was he was a coach?
02:19:38Did he have you guys doing drills?
02:19:39No pug didn't have us doing drills.
02:19:41He made the lineup every day with a nice little graphic.
02:19:45He would do a little pregame speech.
02:19:48He would keep track of the stats and then he would he would
02:19:51do a postgame speech after the game.
02:19:53That was basically all he did.
02:19:55He was a great vibes guy.
02:19:56Everyone turned to pug when we needed something and then
02:20:02to holes credit.
02:20:03Well Huey, sorry three hours before the game.
02:20:08Somebody sent the text being like pug send the lineup and
02:20:12then I texted knowing pug wasn't going and said the pugs may
02:20:17be dead and then Huey got elevated to manager three hours
02:20:21before the game interim manager.
02:20:22Maybe yeah.
02:20:23Yeah.
02:20:24Yeah.
02:20:24So and he was a dick big dick slight slight dick slight dick
02:20:29like Huey.
02:20:29I'm going to take your side a little bit because it seems
02:20:31like this might be a Millennials problem and a Gen Z problem
02:20:34that they can't take hard coaching.
02:20:36I just I didn't I wasn't told everything if I knew how to
02:20:40keep track of stuff.
02:20:40I would have been on my game more.
02:20:43I also had three beers perfect amount but not for me.
02:20:46Yeah, and it was the night that the episode dropped in first
02:20:48episode.
02:20:49I was a little little anxious little that's fair.
02:20:51I was like, all right, and then you know going to have some
02:20:53fun with the boys and all of a sudden we're playing a team
02:20:56that had matching uniforms and drills and it was alarming
02:21:02and I got caught off guard and I you know, and I didn't I
02:21:05didn't keep track of what I should have been keep a track
02:21:07of and then I got frustrated and I let it out on everyone.
02:21:10If you if you do that's not fair to them.
02:21:11If you drink three beers don't keep track of anything during
02:21:14the game and then just yell at your teammates.
02:21:16I mean Tony La Russa has made a great career that but did
02:21:20you notice what he said there when he said three beers?
02:21:22He said three beers perfect amount not for me.
02:21:26Yeah.
02:21:26Yeah.
02:21:27So you overdid it.
02:21:28I should have known my own limits were you over served by
02:21:31yourself the perfect amount for someone else but not for the
02:21:33person actually drinking up.
02:21:35Yeah, that was yeah live and learn and I'll learn from that.
02:21:38Okay, I don't think I ever have a coaching opportunity again
02:21:40in my life.
02:21:40You're not never say never.
02:21:42No, they shouldn't let me even allowed it near the stadium.
02:21:46Okay.
02:21:47Yeah, I do play in a stadium.
02:21:49What he's not coaching night, Max.
02:21:52I don't make those decisions as Pug Pug has been reinstated
02:21:57as remote coach.
02:21:58Oh, okay.
02:21:59So that's how bad he was.
02:22:00You'd rather have a coach who doesn't show up than Huey.
02:22:03We're also our team name is the Pugs like we yeah, I think
02:22:06that's more of the case is like you can't you can't fill pug
02:22:09shoes when you have a dog and your dog passes away.
02:22:12You don't get another dog immediately and then expect it
02:22:14to be just like the other dog.
02:22:16You got to wait a little bit of time.
02:22:17I was a shelter dog.
02:22:19Yeah last my last owner beat me.
02:22:21Yeah, who I don't want to talk about.
02:22:24Okay, let's go the analogy.
02:22:27All right.
02:22:28Well, you'll get better.
02:22:29Maybe you'll get another shot.
02:22:30Yeah, there's a Friday basketball game.
02:22:32Maybe I get it.
02:22:33I get a coaching job there, you know, no coaching in that.
02:22:36Okay.
02:22:36Well, you'll play in it.
02:22:37Yeah, so maybe it'll help the camaraderie, you know, I mean
02:22:40my let me we could use a coach.
02:22:42Yeah, I guess we could I just I just heard from Hank that
02:22:45he was like, yeah here.
02:22:47He showed up to the game.
02:22:47We made him coach.
02:22:48He just talked shit the entire time.
02:22:51Nobody knew who he was in there.
02:22:53Who is this?
02:22:53Who is it was his first day on the job just talking shit when
02:22:57I when I pop up, right?
02:23:00You got kicked out.
02:23:01You should have just gave the umpire piece.
02:23:03He was much bigger than me and there was no way in hell.
02:23:06I was gonna I was gonna challenge that man to anything
02:23:09hug energy.
02:23:09Oh, all right.
02:23:10PFT your fire fest my fire fest of the week is that I'm a I'm
02:23:14going on the road for a little bit.
02:23:15So we are going to grit week starting not next week, but the
02:23:18week after and days so 10 days, but I'm doing I I think I'm
02:23:23doing seven cities in 14 days.
02:23:27Holy shit, because I got a wedding then I'm going to Austin
02:23:30for a little bit then I'm going to Columbus for pup punk then
02:23:34I'm going to Nashville for pup punk then I'm going straight
02:23:37from Nashville to grit week and our cities that we're going
02:23:40to go to grit week.
02:23:41So the challenge I've put myself in is I delayed packing
02:23:45and I'm leaving tomorrow and I've got about a two week long
02:23:49trip that I have yet to pack for and I've only got my tiny
02:23:52little red suitcase do laundry.
02:23:54I can do laundry on the road, but it's also in like seven
02:23:57different cities.
02:23:58Yeah packing for all that and a concert that I have to bring
02:24:01my guitar with me for you're going to lose at least three
02:24:03things.
02:24:04I'm good.
02:24:05I know myself and there will be one item.
02:24:08I will just completely forget to pack entirely meaning like
02:24:11I might not pack socks.
02:24:13Yeah, I might forget entirely to pack.
02:24:15Underwear.
02:24:16Yeah, there will be I might not pack shirts.
02:24:17I've gone on a trip recently where I just didn't pack any
02:24:19shirts. Maybe you should just not pack and just buy stuff
02:24:22in every city and live off the land live off the land.
02:24:25I can do that.
02:24:26What would I what would I get done it for grit week?
02:24:29I might do that for grit week this year.
02:24:30Yeah, all new fits.
02:24:31Yeah, that actually would be fire.
02:24:33Yeah, I'll do it with you land at grit week and we go we've
02:24:36done it before.
02:24:37Yeah, goodwill.
02:24:39I kind of like this.
02:24:40I have you all new fits exact you and I have the exact same
02:24:45Fyre Fest even though I don't have a Fyre Fest today.
02:24:48It's the I haven't packed a single thing and I'm going you're
02:24:50going to Europe.
02:24:50I'm going to Europe tomorrow and I'm going straight from Europe
02:24:53to grit week.
02:24:54I'm not yeah, all right all new fits.
02:24:56So let's get new fits the second we arrive because I'll get
02:24:59there. I'll get your first fit.
02:25:01So when you show up like I'll go to like a Pac Sun or something.
02:25:04Yeah, and we'll get us fit do whatever you want.
02:25:07Yeah.
02:25:07Yeah, actually we'll switch off days.
02:25:09I'll go day one.
02:25:10You go day two.
02:25:11I like that back and forth makeover.
02:25:12Maybe maybe actually yeah, everyone gets a day.
02:25:15Okay, so I'll start I'll start on the Sunday.
02:25:18I'll get the whole boys a fit and then we'll go.
02:25:21Yeah, we'll just do fits every single day.
02:25:23I like that part of my makeover.
02:25:24Yeah, so so sounds like a video PFT you can do Monday and then
02:25:29yeah, Max can be up Hank can be up Huey.
02:25:32Maybe we'll do it.
02:25:35I'm so I don't know if that was I'm so glad that he was around
02:25:38because he there's probably only one guy in this room that
02:25:41has a worse sense of style than I do.
02:25:43Yeah, although the coat was great.
02:25:45The coat was great.
02:25:46That was all my dad.
02:25:46Yeah.
02:25:48Yeah.
02:25:48Okay, that's great.
02:25:49Okay.
02:25:50So that's how you turn a Fyre Fest into a fire FIR.
02:25:52Yeah, I love that now.
02:25:54I'm excited about this.
02:25:55I love that.
02:25:55All right, my Fyre Fest.
02:25:57It's simple one.
02:26:00I gotta pull up the text.
02:26:03My wife said to me texting me.
02:26:04She was like our daughter said poo is a bad word and I was
02:26:09like and my wife said back to her like it's not a bad word.
02:26:12It's a potty word.
02:26:13Yeah, and
02:26:15she told me that like she had said that and I was like, oh,
02:26:17that's probably because I do swear around the kids.
02:26:20Like I'm bad with that.
02:26:22I talk how I talk and I was like, she probably just thinks
02:26:26the bad word.
02:26:27She's not actually talking about actual like poop.
02:26:30And then when my wife tried to correct her, my daughter said
02:26:33no, I'm talking about poops the thing things daddy does for
02:26:37a really long time.
02:26:39That's good.
02:26:40So she was definitely talking about poops and it's just like
02:26:42yeah, she's like the thing daddy goes and does for a really
02:26:44long time.
02:26:45I've always I've wondered that about people that have like
02:26:48three kids.
02:26:49How do you shit it?
02:26:50I don't because you go shit that there's only one parent and
02:26:54then there's three kids.
02:26:55Yeah, and they don't respect any type of like I'll do the
02:26:57shower.
02:26:57I'll turn on the shower and hope that like they know showers
02:27:00on they'll still walk in.
02:27:01Yeah.
02:27:02Yeah parents just don't have time to shit.
02:27:04No, it's bad, but she's just it's I actually kind of feel
02:27:07like this is like my first like I'm feel like a masculine dad
02:27:10because I feel like that's a very big dad move for the all
02:27:12the kids in the house to be like yeah dad goes and takes
02:27:14long shits.
02:27:15Yeah, you should do that in front of your son.
02:27:17So then your son's like my dad has bigger poops than your
02:27:19dad.
02:27:20Yeah, you can get one up on that guy.
02:27:22Yeah.
02:27:22Oh the rival big that would be but that is like a real sense
02:27:27of like being a man.
02:27:28Yeah been like I'm going to the shitter.
02:27:29I'll be back in three hours.
02:27:31I mean taking a shit is one of life's little pleasures where
02:27:34you get some time to think scroll whatever website you're
02:27:38scrolling maybe play a game while you're on there hang out.
02:27:41No.
02:27:41Yeah, it's like it adds.
02:27:43That's what guys do for meditation.
02:27:44Yeah, we just go take a shit.
02:27:46Yeah, actually what kind of want to put a couch in my bathroom.
02:27:49I'll be nice.
02:27:50Yeah, just lay down for a little bit TV appreciate appreciate
02:27:56a bed.
02:27:56It wouldn't be bad.
02:27:57You get a bed in there a kitchen a kitchen would be nice an
02:28:01air fryer.
02:28:02Yeah.
02:28:02After yeah, have it all there in the bathroom.
02:28:05That would be nice.
02:28:06Yeah, my bathroom is a mess too.
02:28:08It's just like I don't know.
02:28:09How do you guys have the just there's like splotches on the
02:28:13on the mirror all the time.
02:28:15I think it's just because I wash my face when you wipe it off.
02:28:17Yeah, when you wipe the mirror off.
02:28:19Yeah, it's a problem.
02:28:21Yeah, and mirrors never get clean.
02:28:22No.
02:28:23No, it's a big time problem.
02:28:24Okay, let's finish off the show numbers 28 56 Max and I are
02:28:33dancing.
