00:00The Department of Labor and Employment is ready to get rid of the thousands of POGO employees who will lose their jobs because of the POGO ban.

00:07Let's ask Secretary Bienvenido La Guesma about the clear plan of the DOLE.

00:17Good morning, Connie, and good morning to your televiewers and supporters.

00:22Secretary, just to be clear, because the figures are different, how many POGO employees will be affected by the ban?

00:32Some are saying 20,000, some 30,000, some 40,000. What are your figures?

00:40Connie, actually, that's the reason why we had a meeting initially of the PAN-CORP yesterday with Chairman Altenco.

00:49We want to reconcile the numbers that we received and we are asking the question, what is it really?

00:59Based on our meeting yesterday, we will have a validation meeting subsequently,

01:06which will be led by our Assistant Secretary, Assistant Secretary Paul Anover and the regional director of our NCR.

01:14We will validate the numbers and based on what we talked about yesterday,

01:20their figure is around 40,000 because it is recorded.

01:25We know that the list of those involved in this kind of activity is the PAN-CORP that gave the license.

01:35The companies that are on the PAN-CORP list, we will validate the employees because we want to profile them

01:47so that we can have a strong intervention or assistance to the workers who might be affected by the closure of the operation of POGO,

02:29those who are related to jobs that might be affected if the IGLs are completely closed.

02:37Okay. Are there industries that you are looking to transfer to our POGO workers?

02:43Do you have contacts for those companies?

02:47There are already, initially Connie, especially in IT, business process in the management sector.

02:54Because in the initial results of profiling of our National Capital Region, we saw that a large part of them are importers.
