00:00Some new support for Vice President Kamala Harris
00:03and her presidential campaign.
00:05One person, actually, we've heard
00:07there are a lot of celebrities who
00:09want to do something at the DNC.
00:11They are all still trying to plan that out.
00:14What is it now, three weeks away?
00:16Yeah.
00:18And, but we did find out one person
00:20who is going to be front and center for sure,
00:23and that is John Legend.
00:25John Legend will be on stage there.
00:28What's uncertain at this point in the planning stage
00:31is what exactly he'll be doing.
00:34Is he going to perform?
00:34Is he going to speak?
00:35Speak, both, but he wants to be involved
00:38and they want him on board, so.
00:40And we know that John Legend has been
00:41a longtime supporter of Democrats,
00:44particularly Joe Biden.
00:45He did some campaign events
00:47when he was running back in 2020.
00:49But I think John Legend is just a small piece
00:51of calm momentum.
00:53I mean, we are seeing so many celebrities
00:55come out for her, not to mention last night,
00:57the white dudes for Kamala called that drew in
01:01Jeff Bridges, Mark Ruffalo.
01:03And today there's going to be a campaign event
01:05in Atlanta where Meg Thee Stallion
01:07is supposed to come out.
01:09George Lopez is going to be coming out
01:11at a campaign event soon.
01:12So I think the DNC is going to look a lot
01:14like the Grammys this year, honestly.
01:17It's going to be incredible.
01:17That may be, do not do that at the DNC.
01:21They can't do that at the DNC.
01:22That's a mistake.
01:23You got to sprinkle in celebrities.
01:26You sprinkle it in.
01:28But if you do nothing but celebrities,
01:28that's not going to make point.
01:30What were you going to say about Megan Thee Stallion?
01:31No, I was just wondering, is that going to be
01:32rappers for Harris?
01:33Because look, we've had, starting from the day
01:36that Joe Biden stepped down,
01:38you had win with black women.
01:40Right.
01:41And then you had 90,000 women.
01:42Then you had white women.
01:42No, no, no.
01:43Don't forget the black men.
01:44It was black men.
01:45Oh, right, right, right.
01:46Black men for Harris.
01:47They had 50,000.
01:48Then came the white women for Harris.
01:50Then came the white women.
01:51And now, and last night, as Jacob mentioned,
01:55white dudes for Harris.
01:58They couldn't even say men.
01:59They said, but hold on, there's a good reason
02:02that they went with the title white dudes.
02:03Why?
02:04When you see one celebrity in particular
02:08who joined this, Jeff Bridges.
02:09That's true.
02:10But there were several others.
02:11But yes, the dude abided on this call last night.
02:15And they raised, what, another couple million dollars.
02:18A friend sent me this email today
02:22with your hat on there.
02:24And I said, oh, I gotta have one of those.
02:26I qualify, man.
02:27I'm white, I'm a dude, and I'm for Harris.
02:30I'm not sure if you guys can recall
02:33that feeling you had on the night of Tuesday,
02:36November 8th, 2016.
02:39I stood over my kid's bed and I wept.
02:42They always say this is the most important
02:45election of our lifetime.
02:46I've heard that since I first voted in the 70s.
02:50But never has it been more true.
02:54I gotta say, something we were talking about
02:56when Jacob was on, that they've gotta be really careful
03:00not to put too many celebrities on this
03:02because a lot of people outside of LA and New York
03:05don't react well to that.
03:07It's fine when you're doing a fundraising thing
03:09like that last night because it does get more people
03:12interested to get on the call.
03:14And they end up raising more than four million dollars.
03:17But when you're actually presenting the platform
03:20for your party, it's, yeah.
03:22There's one person, there is one person.
03:25Well, the guy who kind of started the ball rolling?
03:27No, no, there's one person who could make
03:31a seismic change in everything.
03:33Yes, Taylor Swift.
03:35I thought you meant who's gonna be at the convention.
03:37No, no, no, no, no.
03:38If she's not gonna be at the convention.
03:39If she comes out, she can mobilize voters
03:43like nobody else, I think.
03:46Yeah.
03:46I really do.
03:48And she's already got Beyonce on board
03:49because she gave her the song.
03:50Now, Beyonce may, and by the way,
03:52Beyonce may be there to sing it, you know?
03:55I'm serious.
03:56I know, I get it.
03:57I'm just trying to think if that's a good or a bad thing.
04:00For her to be there singing it.
04:02I guess that would be.
04:03That's a good thing.
04:04I mean, that's the Lee Greenwood equivalent in the DNC.
04:07Yeah, exactly.
04:08Perfect, perfect.
04:09My name is Timothy Slater.
04:11I'm from San Jose, California.
04:12And John Legend is a legend.
04:15And I think celebrities in general
04:17coming out for Kamala Harris is a good thing.
04:19So, yeah, sorry, if you think not.
04:24No, no, it's, like I said, it's great for fundraising.
04:27I just think you gotta be,
04:29even at the Republican convention,
04:31they sprinkled in, there were a lot of
04:34ordinary citizens who were there speaking also.
04:36And that's what people are looking for.
04:38I'm Timothy Slater.
04:39I'm from San Jose, California.
04:41And John Legend is a legend.
04:43So, yeah, sorry, if you think not.
