Tyreek Hill is placing (some) blame squarely on himself, saying he wishes he could "go back and do things differently" during his run-in with police ... while making it crystal clear, despite his prickly attitude, the cops had no right to get physical with him!

00:00Welcome back to TMZ Sports, Mike and Mojo.
00:08Mojo, Tyreek Hill speaking out once again on that polarizing traffic stop on Sunday
00:14just hours before the Miami Dolphins Week 1 game.
00:19And the all-pro wide receivers pointing the finger at himself, Mojo.
00:24Yes, Tyreek Hill saying, hey, I wish that I could go back and do a couple of things
00:30different.
00:31Now, the admission came today on Wednesday, Mojo, as Tyreek Hill was meeting with the
00:38media at the Dolphins facility in South Florida.
00:42The Dolphins, who get back on the football field tomorrow, so a quick turnaround for
00:46the Finns.
00:47They play the Buffalo Bills.
00:49Last week, after Tyreek Hill was thrown in handcuffs, he then goes out there and catches
00:54seven passes, 100-plus yards, including an 80-yard touchdown.
00:58We'll see what he does this week around.
01:00But going back to the incident, Mojo, Tyreek was asked whether or not he could have behaved
01:05differently.
01:06Now, this is after a lot of people have placed some of the blame on him, saying that he was
01:10rude to the cops and he sort of set the whole interaction off on the wrong foot.
01:15Here is Tyreek Hill saying, hey, I wish I could go back in time and change how I acted.
01:19Do you think you did anything wrong in this situation?
01:23Do you think that your attitude could have been different to the police?
01:26Do you think you could have kept your window down?
01:29Have you thought about that?
01:31Yeah, I have.
01:32I have, man.
01:33I'm like, my whole life is all about accountability, like how can I get better, you know?
01:40So right now, I have family members who are cops.
01:45We've had conversations.
01:47Yes, I will say I could have been better, you know?
01:52I could have let down my window, you know, in that instant.
01:55But the thing about me is, man, I don't want attention.
02:01I don't want to be, like, cameras out, phones on you, you know, in that moment.
02:07But at the end of the day, you know, I'm human.
02:12I got to follow rules.
02:13I got to, you know, do what, you know, everyone else would do, you know?
02:20So now, does that give them the right to literally beat the dog out of me?
02:27Absolutely not.
02:28But at the end of the day, I wish I could go back and, you know, do things a bit differently.
02:36You know, I know a lot of people have listened to this newest Tyreek Hill sound and said
02:40that it's a different tone than the one he was singing on Sunday and on Monday, saying
02:45that his mother raised him right and certainly not taking accountability for his actions
02:51or saying he did anything wrong then.
02:52But I think it's entirely possible that with hindsight and with being able to think about
02:56what happened over the last couple of days, along with seeing the body camera footage,
03:01that Tyreek Hill says, hey, look, I realize now that I am not without fault here.
03:06While at the same time making it crystal clear that he believes that the cops went
03:10too far and they should not have gotten physical with him like they did.
03:14I think this was perfectly stated, Babcock.
03:15I mean, I wasn't against what he said earlier, and I thought he did a very good job of articulating,
03:21you know, all right, yeah, I made a mistake.
03:24I regret that mistake.
03:25But you know, they also made mistakes here as well.
03:28But you know, this this was awesome, you know, having a little bit of time to remove the
03:33emotion from the situation and probably, I mean, for kind of a lack of a better way
03:37of saying it, go back and watch the game tape, you know, kind of a thing, you know, it's
03:41very easy to miss, remember certain things or misinterpret tones by, you know, the other
03:49side of the party when, when, when you're in a situation like this.
03:52But you know, all of these things, it allows him to remove himself from the situation and
03:57come back to this with a clear head and articulate exactly what was going through his mind.
04:01And I think, listen back to what he said, that entire, that entire statement, only one
04:07sentence of the entire thing was to say that he also felt that the cops went too far and
04:13made a mistake.
04:14But the rest of it was absolutely him putting himself out there and accepting blame for
04:20what he did.
04:21So, I mean, I think that's really important.
04:24I mean, it's hard to listen to this and not get on Tyreek side from this.
04:28I mean, at the end of the day, he didn't do anything malicious here.
04:32Like, yeah, maybe he didn't cooperate in the car, but he didn't, he didn't harm anybody.
04:36He didn't put anybody at risk.
04:38He just refused to cooperate, which of course not the best thing, but not the worst thing
04:43as well.
04:44And so I think when you hear a statement like this for, for those kids and all those impressionable
04:47people out there, that, that goes a very long way.
04:51You know, if God forbid they're ever in that situation, you hear a statement like that,
04:55you're probably going to act a little bit differently than if, you know, your idol,
04:59your, your mentor, you know, the guy you want to grow up to be is, is, you know, saying
05:03something else.
05:04So I think this was awesome.
05:05I think this did Tyreek Hill a lot of good.
05:09Yeah.
05:10And obviously the police and the, the one officer who was really upset and you can see
05:16he's the one who puts Tyreek on the ground once he's in the second officer there has
05:20been placed on desk duty.
05:23So he's not out in the streets anymore, not pulling people over, giving tickets until
05:28the Miami Dade police department can come to a definitive conclusion in their opinion
05:33about what happened here.
05:34Tyreek Hill has made it very clear.
05:36He wishes, he hopes that these officers lose their job.
05:40He believes that's the appropriate punishment here.
05:42We will see if that happens again, Miami Dolphins back on the football field tomorrow.
05:48I think Mojo, there are a lot of players and maybe most players who would allow something
05:53like this to affect their play on the field.
05:56And that's only natural.
05:57But I think Tyreek Hill is a mentally strong dude and he seems to thrive in these situations
06:02for some reason.
