00:00Welcome back everyone it's Charlie.
00:08This will be my full house the dragon season 2 episode 7 video there were a whole bunch
00:12of Easter eggs and references.
00:13So will break it all down grab your swords everyone this week it's how your dragon trains
00:18you so if one comes flying for you it might just be trying to claim you everybody looking
00:22for dragon seeds.
00:23If you happen to be able to write a dragon make your way to Dragonstone careful for spoilers.
00:28If you have not seen the episode yet will just start at the beginning work our way through
00:31shot by shot talking about Easter eggs and WTF moments starting with the episode title
00:36the episode title was called the red sowing which is a term taken directly from the fire
00:41and blood books the sowing of the seeds essentially the dragon seeds event that we see play out
00:45through the episode.
00:46The reason why the books referred to it as the red sowing specifically is mostly because
00:50of the red blood blowing from all the people who got eaten by the dragons when they tried
00:55to bond with them and failed.
00:56Now we only see Vermith or snacking on a bunch of the dragon seeds, but in the books people
01:00tried to bond with a bunch of different dragons that were available on Dragonstone the wild
01:05dragons were also around to like sheepstealer was around as well.
01:08They've changed a lot of sheepstealers plot who we see with Reyna up in the veil like
01:12she's looking for sheepstealer during the episode I'll talk about that when we get to
01:15that part of the episode that whole stretch of story is completely different like they're
01:20giving her a bunch of nettle storyline from the books, but I think there was a brief reference
01:24to someone who might have been there nod to Nettles even though I don't expect to see
01:28her actually on the show like a character who's close to what Nettles would have been
01:32on the show.
01:33They didn't change the opening intro scene that much.
01:35They've only removed a couple of scenes from the tapestry.
01:38I think just to keep the overall runtime that the length of the tapestry itself the same
01:42so like the intro doesn't turn into like 10 minutes a full episode.
01:46My guess is that with the finale they'll add a scene for the sowing of the seeds with the
01:50new dragon riders in their dragons to the end of the tapestry like the end the season
01:54with that scene in the tapestry.
01:57The actual opening scene starts with Rhaenyra and Syrax meeting Adam Hole and Seasmoke on
02:01Driftmark and her just sussing him out because it wasn't clear.
02:05I mean they kind of imply here during their meeting that she's never actually met him
02:08before has no idea who he is and she thinks that he's part of team green now because she's
02:13so famous in the realm pretty much anybody in their sister would know who Rhaenyra is
02:17like oh you are Rhaenyra the rightful queen.
02:20He says he only wants to serve her he seems very contrite like he's kind of afraid here
02:23he doesn't know what's going on like I just want an opportunity to serve and I want to
02:27ride this dragon because riding dragons looks like it's really cool.
02:31But even without all that stuff like even if he weren't a dragon rider he's Corlys's
02:35bastard son.
02:36He grew up on Driftmark he would've been expected to support Rhaenyra even without the dragon
02:40just because of Corlys and House Velaryon's connection to Rhaenyra.
02:44He explains what we were all joking about last week.
02:47He did not claim Seasmoke Seasmoke claimed him.
02:50It wasn't how to train your dragon it was how your dragon trains you.
02:54That's kind of the way things go down with the other dragon seeds Ulf White and Hugh
02:57Hammer later in the episode, especially Ulf White scene which they play little more comedically.
03:03Here's the weird thing though he lies and doesn't tell her that he's Corlys's bastard.
03:07He does know the truth like he knows that Corlys is his father Corlys knows that he
03:11is his bastard too as we see later in the episode, but they just haven't openly acknowledged
03:16it yet like they haven't had a conversation about it yet.
03:18My assumption about that the reason why he's hiding it here and why Corlys doesn't acknowledge
03:22it later like he keeps it secret from the rest of the black council to is just because
03:26they want to turn it into a much bigger moment when all the dragon seeds are together.
03:30She assumes immediately that he's of some Targaryen ancestry in some way, but she can't
03:35explain it.
03:36She thought this was impossible.
03:37The way they're explaining all the dragon bonding that Valyrian history during this
03:41period is that everything that she knows she read in books, but in the previous episode
03:45they introduce the idea as Jace said to her that a lot of the Valyrian history that they
03:49have in their library Dragonstone was doctored largely to help keep the Valyrians in power
03:55the Targaryens in power because as Damon said during season one dreams didn't make us Kings
04:00dragons made us Kings is like having a nuclear weapon.
04:03So you don't want anybody in their sister to think that they be able to claim a nuclear
04:06weapon on the street.
04:08It sounds like one of the ways that the Valyrians kept themselves in power for so many centuries
04:12thousands of years was to make people think that only dragon lords could claim dragons
04:16when that's not the case.
04:18As long as you have some blood from a dragon Lord house.
04:21It doesn't have to be house Targaryen it could be any house from ancient Valyria that were
04:24part of the dragon lords.
04:25Then you also have the potential to claim a dragon.
04:28This is actually important for explaining where Adam holes Valyrian blood that allows
04:33him to claim a dragon actually came from because technically Corlys Valyrian shouldn't have
04:37any of that dragon Lord blood in his veins which he says later will talk about this in
04:41a second.
04:42There's some technicalities, but I think the episode gave us enough clues to explain it.
04:46But part of the idea is the show is saying that he does have dragon Lord blood in his
04:50veins from ancient Valyria then inside Allison's room she talks to the Grand Maester about
04:55how her whole life has been a lie led to nothing.
04:57She's tried to be a good girl team rules team follow the rules her entire life that was
05:02the whole reason why she got pissed off at Rhaenyra because Allison felt like she sacrificed
05:06everything her entire life like she sacrificed her body to Viserys because her father told
05:11her you're supposed to marry Viserys like Viserys chose her.
05:14So she married him because she was told to marry him.
05:16Not because she wanted to marry him or have all these children now that her own son Aemon
05:21tells her that she's essentially worthless.
05:23She's useless like she's of no help to him.
05:25She feels like her life has no meaning and wants to go to the Kingswood seeming like
05:29she wants to kill herself.
05:31That's probably why she only took Rickard Thorne her personal Kingsguard he replaced
05:36Kristen Cole like Kristen Cole used to be her personal bodyguard when she was the queen
05:40but because he's the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard technically he should be the guard
05:44for Helene he just delayed that after Helene became the queen like after Aegon took the
05:49iron throne because he was getting it all with Allison the place where they go the Kingswood
05:54is the place where they went on that hunting trip during season one that in the courtyard
05:58Larys Strong and Jasper Wilde are watching is Aemon sends members of the Kingsguard involved
06:03in the riot near the set last week to the wall making them all take the black they're
06:07blaming them for letting the right escalate to full-blown attack in almost getting Allison
06:11and Helene killed was it really the Kingsguards fault or was it just Aemon looking for an
06:16excuse to get rid of some of these lick spittles because some of these Kingsguard that he sends
06:20to the wall making them take the black were friends of Aegon's who he named to the Kingsguard
06:25because they were his friends and he wanted to surround himself with his friends which
06:29Aemon then mocked him for calling them lick spills.
06:33There's an interesting detail though Larys Strong actually advises Jasper not to tell
06:37Aemon about the dragon in the dragon rider.
06:40I think mostly because Larys Strong really really hates Aemon now and is looking for
06:45revenge like any chance he can find to kill Aemon he will take it and I think he just
06:50playing this four-dimensional chess game in his head because later Aemon clocks in any
06:54kind of clocks Aemon like I'm watching you.
06:56So part of the idea I think is just looking for different ways to get rid of Aemon and
07:00replace Aegon putting him back on the iron throne.
07:03That's a big part of the episode to with him trying to rush Aegon back to health at least
07:07enough so that he can sit on the iron throne notice when they're talking to the actually
07:11give us a whole bunch of exposition in some extra history that we didn't get in previous
07:14episode they say that it couldn't have been Rhaena to claim sea smoke because she was
07:19almost eaten by sea smoke when she was 14 years old meaning that that was the dragon
07:23that Rhaenyra was talking about Rhaena trying and failing to claim in an earlier episode
07:28Jasper claims the information about the new dragon rider was passed along from person
07:32to person through the king's landing rumor mill all the way from Driftmark he mentions
07:36from a fisherman which they use later in the episode for some imagery like you see fish
07:40being passed along on Driftmark and then a fisherman coming when they're looking for
07:44the dragon seeds to start bringing them to Dragonstone basically the idea that the small
07:48folk are talking about people claiming dragons because they were talking about this this
07:52rumor mill before they even set out word to look for dragon seeds, but this whole king's
07:57landing rumor mill thing is meant to set up the sowing of the seeds where the small
08:01folks are sneaking their way to Dragonstone to try their hand at claiming dragons.
08:05This early mention to is also meant to imply that the small folk are talking a lot about
08:09the dragons.
08:10Meaning that the slowly turning more and more against the greens then we see Martin rain
08:15of house rain being escorted to the wall.
08:17Like I said goodbye lick spittle.
08:18He was one of Aegon's friends that was named the Kingsguard who Aemond absolutely hates
08:22Kristen Cole also kind of hates to so it seems like I said they were looking for an excuse
08:26to get rid of him and some other Aegon's friends on the Kingsguard the funny thing
08:30about this, though, is that you think this would be a punishment like you're punished
08:33instead of being executed your sent to the wall allowed to take the black Martin rain
08:38here in Aegon's friends were going to the wall have a better chance of surviving now
08:42at the wall than they do in king's landing where they been because of what's happening
08:46with the war right now.
08:47The only thing that to really worry about at the wall is wildlings because the white
08:51walkers are super active during this part of the timeline back at Dragonstone we see
08:55see smoke and Cyrax flying back together Corliss instantly realizes the mystery person
09:01is his bastard son when they say we don't know who this is it's just a person in your
09:04employee from Driftmark is like oh it's gotta be one of those bastards of mine.
09:08Like I said, though, I think the reason why he hides the fact like he pretends like he
09:11doesn't know who it is is because they're saving it for some big reveal this whole storyline
09:16with Jace during the episode where he gets super pissed off at the idea of the small
09:20folk being dragon seeds because later we find out that he feels like because he's a bastard
09:25to the only thing that really makes him special the like helps him keep his place in the royal
09:29family here is the fact that he does have a dragon if anyone or like a bunch of people
09:34can claim dragons than he won't be special anymore.
09:38Many that the rest of the Targaryen household like the greens the leftover or even other
09:42dragon seeds other Targaryen bastards would potentially challenge him for the iron throne
09:46when it becomes his time to take the throne.
09:49Here's the thing though.
09:50There couple dragon seeds they imply are not Targaryen bastards but they're coming from
09:53different dragon Lord houses from ancient Valyria that were not Targaryens, but the
09:58vast majority of them are meant to be illegitimate Targaryens when you become a dragon rider
10:03your instantly elevated in your status like you get a title you get legitimize it becomes
10:08a really really big deal Hugh Hammer talks about this phenomenon later like if I become
10:13a dragon rider the make you a lady will get anything we ever wanted will get all this
10:17money all these resources Rhaenyra takes a hard pass on the black council meeting because
10:22she's with Miseria talking over how they're going to deal with the rest the dragon seeds
10:25is just the whole concept of the dragon season general when she says the dragon must sense
10:30Adam holes Targaryen blood in his veins that's a call back to Jon Snow and Drogon when he
10:34met for the first time she mentions finding more writers for Vermithor and silverwing
10:39remember the not really thinking about sheepstealer right now that's gonna be a bit of a wild
10:43card which I think they're saving for the finale like oh wow we got another really big
10:47dragon currently she says she only has Syrax at the beginning of the episode here and that
10:52wouldn't be enough against Eamon and Vhagar to set up the big reveal at the end of the
10:55episode where she challenges Eamon or kind of challenges him with three dragons.
11:01She thinks at least at this point the episode the reason Stephan Darklyn failed to claim
11:05a dragon was because he had too little Targaryen blood in him.
11:08But Miseria reminds her about the many many Targaryen illegitimate children out there
11:13that have been born over the years.
11:14She claims there are four score that she knows about right now in present day and probably
11:19way more than that just because Targaryens love to have themselves some sex to the biggest
11:24qualities the dragon writers that we see on house the dragon in the lore of game of thrones
11:29just in general have is that they love to ride dragons in their super horny when she
11:33says some of them probably live on Dragonstone under their noses.
11:36That's reference to the books on the show they've changed it so that a lot of the characters
11:40that live in King's landing in her dragon seeds actually lived on Dragonstone in the
11:44books previously she only looked at other highborn houses expecting that there might
11:49be more loyalty for them.
11:50But Miseria basically explains that that means nothing like the small folk are much more
11:54likely to be loyal to her and to be fair.
11:56She's also kind of wrong to like just because they're small folk doesn't automatically mean
12:00they'll be loyal.
12:01There's a lot of stuff we can talk about because it kind of gets into spoilers.
12:04But one of the biggest names of the game of thrones talking about the game of thrones
12:08in the grand sense is betrayal like it wouldn't be a game of thrones show like house the dragon
12:12if there wasn't betrayal allegiances that are formed can be just as easily broken Raniere
12:18then references how the realm treated her bastard sons Jace Luke and Joffrey, which
12:22is why she's totally fine looking for more.
12:24Let us raise an army of bastards as she says she is Adam hole his own room at the castle
12:29one of the early signs of his big upgrade in life cordless comes to see him who seems
12:33like he's pleasantly surprised that he's here like wow congratulations on the promotion
12:37happy to let him quit his job so that he can be a dragon writer for Raniere they both
12:41of the truth of his parentage, but I guess just waiting like I said to have cordless
12:45openly acknowledge it to him and they'll actually have a talk about like yes you are my son
12:49and I legitimize you but technically Raniere will be the one to legitimize and usually
12:53is the king or queen that legitimizes an illegitimate son the realm probably the best previous example
12:59that is during game of thrones when Daenerys legitimize Gendry making him Gendry Baratheon
13:04Lord of house Baratheon.
13:06So I'm expecting a similar moment with Raniere and Adam hole back at Harrenhal Oscar Tully
13:11now Lord of riverrun thanks to Alice rivers returns with the rest of the riverlords the
13:15bird flying in the distance also made me think of Alice rivers out, but I don't think that's
13:19an owl flying in the distance just a reminder that she probably killed Grover Tully to hasten
13:24things along Damon reiterates that he wants Oscar Tully to marshal an army of the Riverlands
13:29for him.
13:30They joke about their last meeting and how Damon was kind of pissed off at him because
13:33he didn't do anything or could not do anything to help him.
13:36You were not useful to me before you are very useful now when he replies that he's green
13:40in these matters is a bit of a joke on the Sesame Street of it all because George R Martin
13:44named a bunch of game of thrones characters after Sesame Street characters like Oscar
13:48here is named after Oscar the grouch in Oscar is literally green on Sesame Street.
13:53He makes fun of Damon little who seems pleasantly surprised that he's kind of jesting with them
13:56a little bit, but kind of impatient.
13:59They knowledge that house Tully is willing to uphold the support to Rhaenyra that they
14:03pledged back when Rhaenyra was officially named heir during season one, but the big
14:07holdup the big reason for their meeting here is because the Riverlords want justice against
14:11the Blackwoods and they all hate Damon love the fact that they're all brought together
14:15like all these warring Riverlords the kind of hate each other brought together over their
14:19hate of Damon the reason why Damon holds their meeting in the gods would under the heart
14:23tree is because he tries to plan their love of tradition in the old ways.
14:27So he's invoking the old ways the old gods.
14:29So to speak.
14:30Thus the weirwoods Heron Hall is built on an old weirwood force that was cut down the
14:34right near the gods would in the isle of faces probably one of the most magical places in
14:39the old gods power in Westeros is part of the reason why Damon is having all these spooky
14:43visions right now love the way they play the scene to with Willem Blackwood seeming like
14:47he's got the upper hand here like I've gotten justice against the Blackwoods I have them
14:51here then Oscar turns on a dime and basically orders Damon to kill him if he wants their
14:57armies you can kind of see the instant calculus going on and Damon said like boom he barely
15:02hesitates and then swings dark sister his valyrian sword to chop Willem Blackwoods
15:07head off when he walks back through the halls of Heron Hall.
15:09He sees that black goat again that he saw before which is meant to be a sign important
15:14that magic is around this place because as is walking into his room.
15:17He's also walking into another vision of Viserys on his weirwood bed.
15:22He's meant to look exactly like he did in episode eight right before he died.
15:25The last time the Damon saw him alive him holding the crown is also meant to be bit
15:29of a callback to the crown falling off of his head while he was sitting on the iron
15:32throne in Damon putting it back on his head.
15:35They talk about how Viserys never wanted it.
15:37How he regrets the crown.
15:38How he crushes whoever wears it in Damon is starting to come to the realization that maybe
15:42he doesn't want is as much as he thought he did his whole life.
15:46Part of the idea of the lessons that Damon is getting in his weirwood visions is teaching
15:49him compassion and empathy for other people, but also on the other side of this coin.
15:53I think the trend juxtaposes with Rhaenyra's arc where Rhaenyra is starting to become a
15:57little bit more like Damon.
15:59So like Damon slowly becoming more like Rhaenyra more understanding more compassionate Rhaenyra
16:03is becoming a little bit more like Damon more stabby so that eventually they'll reunite
16:08and they will take King's landing back together Damon kind of foreshadow this in a previous
16:12episode where he said that he's headed to King's landing with his army that he's trying
16:15to Marshall and his dragon Caraxes Rhaenyra also talked about wanting to go to King's
16:20landing take it with her dragon she got the dragon sees now she's acting more like Damon
16:25Damon's more compassionate.
16:26It sounds like he's more willing to work with Rhaenyra and let her be Queen serve her all
16:31these character arcs building to the finale where they finally come together again back
16:36in Aegon's room we sees practicing walking he's feeling way way faster on the show than
16:41he did in the books they talked about this in previous episodes the showrunner said that
16:44they're compressing the timeline a lot in the books Aegon was basically hopped up on
16:48milk of the poppy in his bed for about a year when it seems that they're doing though is
16:52they're pulling a Tyrion during the original game of thrones series.
16:55So if you remember back during the original show during season two after Blackwater Tyrion
17:00in the books got his entire nose cut off, but on the show just give him a really big
17:04gash all because he didn't want him walking around for a bunch more seasons with no nose
17:10I think the reason why house the dragon is speeding up Aegon's recovery is because is
17:13only can be up for seasons the show and they want to be a much bigger part of the story
17:17more active very soon by season three.
17:20You also look his injuries don't look nearly as bad as the described in the books.
17:24Like I said pulling a Tyrion like making his injuries much less on the show.
17:28Laris strong genuinely seems like he cares about Aegon here when he tells the Grand Maester
17:32not to get him walking in by himself because Laris went through something similar growing
17:36up he gives him a little pep talk and like I said seems like he's trying to rush his
17:40recovery so that he can get back on the iron throne to get back to the job of being King
17:43so they can also get rid of Eamon because he really does not like Eamon back at Corliss's
17:48shipyard he orders Alan whole to marshal a group of ships to help bury all the potential
17:53dragon seeds from King's landing to Dragonstone notice how Alan is surprised to learn that
17:57his brother Adam got see smoke like wow dragon rider.
18:00I guess that means that I could potentially be dragon rider to but here's the thing when
18:04Corliss suggested he try his hand at also becoming a dragon rider because he's of the
18:08same blood of old Valyria that Adam whole was he briefly alludes to their mother not
18:13saying who she was getting a little closer to acknowledging that they're his sons even
18:18though both of the brothers know the truth right now he kind of implies that the dragon
18:22riding blood like the dragon Lord bloodline in their veins past them via their mother
18:28not be a Corliss like their mother might've been a Targaryen bastard or part of a line
18:33from another dragon Lord house from ancient Valyria he's also right when he says that
18:37the Valyrians in general are from ancient Valyria, but their house was not a dragon
18:41Lord house like they didn't have dragons they were seafaring family there were so many questions
18:45about this when we learn that Adam was going to be the one to ride see smoke like how can
18:49it be was it his mother his father like where did it come from with the lineage come from
18:53basically it's Corliss implying that it came through Adams mother's line, but when Alan
18:57claims that he's of sea and salt.
18:59This is meant to be very over like most you probably realize what's going on here that's
19:02a call back to what Bela told Corliss she was not of salt and sea.
19:06So she couldn't be his heir.
19:07I think this is to give Corliss the idea to name Alan as his heir eventually getting him
19:12legitimize or having Rhaenyra legitimize him.
19:15So both brothers will get big big promotions essentially up in the veil.
19:19We meet our next dragon see like we're going around seeing all the different dragon season
19:22this episode Rhaena who walks through I think the gates of the moon here closer to the castle
19:27the bloody gates are little bit further out Jane Arryn is watching them go she sending
19:31them to the gay abandon ship which will take her Rhaenyra's sons their dragons and dragon
19:35eggs to Pentos.
19:37She seems happy to be rid of her to like Jane Arryn does not have a happy look on her face
19:41like good riddance get out of here Rhaena takes off running.
19:44I think mostly because she doesn't want to go and she wants to try her hand at claiming
19:48sheep still which is why she runs stopping at the burnt patch of sheep bones, but because
19:53they cut away from this.
19:54I think they're just saving her claiming sheep still are for the finale.
19:57So they'll be like a real big moment the go out on in the Kingswood Allison makes it sound
20:02like she's planning to kill herself.
20:03That's why she probably says she might not ever return to Kingsley I will return because
20:07I'll probably dead a lot of you also play recognize Rickard Thorne from one piece.
20:11He was just on one piece Netflix.
20:14But I think the idea is that she's come out here to end her life and that's why she's
20:17only brought Rickard Thorne otherwise she would about a bunch of other retainers with
20:21them then Jace has it out with Rhaenyra kind of explaining why he's so worried and mad
20:25about what's happening with the dragon sees because he thought that having a dragon was
20:29his one way to keep himself in line for the iron throne in the family.
20:34Otherwise the family might disown him or try to get rid of him or kill him because he is
20:37a bastard.
20:38They make it sound like this is the first time they've ever actually had this kind of
20:41conversation about Harwin strong in his actual parentage.
20:44They knew that Harwin strong was their real father.
20:46But I think that Rhaenyra never really talked about it that way like she kind of alluded
20:50to it and kind of confirm things to them, but didn't really talk about Harwin strong
20:55He mentions Aegon the conqueror in Aegon's prophecy as Rhaenyra is reading the same book
20:59open to the same page of Aegon and his two sister wives from earlier this season.
21:03They keep leaving books like this open to the same pages like the page of Visenya with
21:07Vhagar very on the nose references like they want you to notice a lot of these Easter eggs.
21:11She just that she needs the dragon sees because if she were to try to fight Aemond and Vhagar
21:16on Syrax by herself.
21:17She'd lose instantly.
21:18Then when she suggests Jace fight them on Vermax that reminds him of Lucerys versus
21:23Aemond and his dragon it be the same thing they would lose in like two seconds flat Vhagar
21:28would crunch them faster than Vermithor crunched all those dragon sees later in this episode
21:33wouldn't even be a fight part of the whole idea with Rhaenyra is that team black does
21:37not have ground forces.
21:39They cannot fight the green army, but they do have many many dragons which could potentially
21:44help them completely wipe the board clean just either intimidate or absolutely wreck
21:50the greens.
21:51It be like if you didn't have an army, but you had an arsenal of nuclear weapons them
21:55this area gives the orders to Alan whole and they begin sneaking everyone to Dragonstone
21:59their couple Easter eggs in the background here to when they go around looking for different
22:02dragon seeds the fish they give to Alinda Massey is another call back to the rumor mill
22:06that came from the fishermen about sea smoke and Adam whole notice when Alinda Massey is
22:11walking to the streets in that red cloak in the background you see the washerwoman with
22:14the white hair.
22:15There's a random white haired man.
22:17They're all over King's landing just like mysterious that like all over the place.
22:21They have a bit of a funny moment were old white is in the same tavern and hears about
22:25what's happening from his friend and starts to make excuses about why he shouldn't go
22:29because it's not a 100% that he is bail on the brave son like it could've been a lot
22:33like I think that I'm his son, but it could be a lie in the books there were meant to
22:37be many people who did lie claiming to be dragon sees and probably got themselves eaten
22:42that we get a really cool scene with Hugh Hammer we get some more lore about the history
22:45of the Targaryen family they explain that his daughter has died RIP after the events
22:50of the riot when his wife keeps wanting to go to tumble town.
22:53I think that gets into some book stuff we can't really talk about because it might get
22:56into spoilers, but tumble town I think will become an important place in the future.
23:00He explains to her about how they'll gain so much wealth and status if he becomes a
23:04dragon rider because it's such a huge deal and he starts talking about the history of
23:08his lineage.
23:09He didn't know who his father was, but he did know his mother who was a working girl
23:13in flea bottom and had silver hair meaning that his mother was the person from house
23:18Targaryen here's the really important part a lot of you probably picked up on this when
23:22he says that her brother's boys were Viserys and Daemon.
23:26That means that bail on the brave was her brother his mother's brother.
23:30I think what they're saying here is that Hugh Hammer's mother was Sarah Targaryen, the younger
23:34sister of bail on the brave in one of Jahaerys's many daughters it be a small change that they're
23:39making on the show, but they change a lot of stuff in the books already.
23:42So this be no different when she was younger Sarah Targaryen member the royal household
23:46caused a big scandal by sleeping around flea bottom like she was horny on main.
23:50So she got it on a lot around King's landing King Jahaerys was so pissed off that he disowned
23:55her and kicked her out of the royal family in the books.
23:59She was said to have gone to the east and became a madam at a brothel.
24:02She became a very prominent person over there.
24:04But I think what they're saying on the show is is that instead of going to the east.
24:07She just went to flea bottom and started working at one of the brothels there and that's how
24:11she eventually gave birth to Hugh Hammer.
24:13So his mother was a former member of the royal household.
24:16She just been disowned by King Jahaerys when he was still alive.
24:20Then we see walking to the boats in these lines with all these other people these other
24:22dragon sees potentially this person behind him might be the show winking at Nettles from
24:28the books because I don't think they're actually gonna do Nettles on the show.
24:31So this might be like the closest reference we get to her for the most part they given
24:35Nettles storyline to Rhaena in the books Nettles is the one to claim sheepstealer then we see
24:40Allison walking out into the lake in white floating there making this sign like she's
24:44on the cross.
24:45So to speak lot of religious iconography here, but you have to remember this defeat the seven
24:48like she's meant to be a very religious person and for just a second.
24:52I actually thought that she was going to try and drown herself, but the way they cut away
24:55from the senior will see what winds up happening with Allison, but I don't that she's going
24:59to die anytime soon like she will eventually go back to King's landing that Dragonstone
25:04rear watches all the people trying to show up to claim a dragon.
25:07It's kind of like her ordering Uber eats for the dragons because most of them wind
25:10up getting eaten by Vermithor somebody order some take out for the dragons are getting
25:13really hungry in their caves notice that the dragon keepers also revolt claiming that this
25:18is kind of a perversion like the dragons are sacred and you just treating them like common
25:22things common play things when he mentions they're not for the games of men that felt
25:27like a callback to the game of thrones like talking about a song of ice and fire just
25:30in general then Rhaenyra basically gives them the fine print like look this is what's really
25:35going on here.
25:36You're probably gonna get eaten.
25:37So just prepare for that when she mentions a lot of her previously held beliefs about
25:42how dragons and dragon bonding work is absolutely wrong.
25:45That's a callback to Jace referencing the high Valyrian histories having been doctored
25:49like the things that they think they know are all wrong.
25:52You still need to be from a bloodline from one of the dragon Lord houses of ancient Valyria,
25:56but you don't have to have pure blood you don't have to be part of the royal family
26:00or anything like that.
26:01They try their hand at Vermithor first everybody been wondering all season when they get a
26:05bring Vermithor back because been in all the trailers.
26:08She is correct.
26:09He's called the bronze fury Vermithor used to be King Jaehaerys's dragon and he was actually
26:12hatched from an egg that was put in Jaehaerys's crib when he was a baby.
26:17They go back to the dragon mond she calls out to Vermithor and high Valyrian if it wasn't
26:20clear she wasn't talking to them like she was facing them.
26:22I love the way they have the reveal of Vermithor to when he comes out of the shadows and she's
26:26not talking to the people here she's talking to Vermithor like saying come here Vermithor
26:31in high Valyrian.
26:32It be like you calling your cat from across the room like come over here.
26:36Notice is big bushy grandpa dragon beer like they really upgrade the special effects for
26:40him this season.
26:41We only saw him briefly in shadow during season one.
26:44Notice he's also got a scar on his lip from earlier battles.
26:47The sounds he makes when he poses up to Rhaenyra are similar to the sounds that Drogon made
26:51when he poses up to Jon Snow during game of thrones like he's totally cool with Rhaenyra
26:55I like you you're cool.
26:57This person is meant to be silver Dennis who is from the books he winds up being the first
27:01to get eaten RIP and a bunch of other people here like he just goes for all on snack time
27:05like this is a buffet.
27:07Thank you for bringing these people I'm so hungry right now, but notice when he extends
27:10his head over the crowd kind of sussing everyone out he stops when he gets to Hugh Hammer like
27:14his giant dragon eye spots Hugh Hammer all because he can just kind of sense the vibes
27:19coming from him like you're you're the guy when they all start falling off the platform
27:23to the ground.
27:24You notice there's a weirwood tree growing nearby because obviously weirwoods very big
27:27thing Hugh Hammer tries to run for it love the way this scene goes down to where you
27:32have Vermithor in the background just randomly grabbing people having his snacks as Hugh
27:36Hammer is running about like he finds the girl tries to save her by distracting him,
27:40but then finds out that is successful because Vermithor is like you're the guy I'm claiming
27:45you love the look that goes between them to like he's loving Hugh Hammer's vibe love the
27:49rage coming for you love the energy we can be friends we can be bros you even see Vermithor
27:54start to smile a giant dragon smile to then they play Rhaenyra's theme music that they
27:59played the previous episode when she sent all her ships to King's landing with the food
28:02they also in the episode on this to where she stands defiantly against Aemond and Vhagar
28:07with the three dragons.
28:09Then we get a funny like a comedic dragon claiming scene with Ulf White stumbling into
28:13silver wings cave and it's kind of a similar experience here to where silver wing winds
28:17up being the one to claim him.
28:19He does not claim silver wing love the slow reveal here to its kind of comedic to with
28:23him walking up next to her not noticing that she's there because kind of camouflaged against
28:27the cave silver wing used to be the dragon of Queen Alysanne King Jaehaerys's queen and
28:33she been a mated pair with Vermithor nobody's ridden either of them since Jaehaerys and
28:37Alysanne died really love the design that they went with for silver wing to make her
28:42feel very distinct from the other dragons.
28:44You also notice that her horns on her head kind of makes it look like she's wearing a
28:48crown like she was Queen Alysanne's dragon very regal seeming dragon silver wing and
28:54Vermithor are also the parents of a lot of the dragons on the show right now that comedic
28:59scene of her nuzzling him kind of pushing him over any kind of realizes what's going
29:03on like oh okay I'm not dead you're claiming me this great I'm survived.
29:07If you haven't seen the actor who plays Ulf White he's mostly known for doing comedy stuff
29:11which is why they play a lot of his scenes is comedic scenes like especially this dragon
29:15claiming scene that I love the way they reveal silver wing and Ulf White flying over King's
29:19Landing later like back at the green council they mention Ormund Hightower Lord of house
29:24Hightower he's Otto Hightower's older brother still having problems with house Beesbury
29:28in their army because are trying to get revenge over the death of Lord Beesbury during season
29:32one justice for Beesbury.
29:34They confirmed that Daeron's dragon Tessarion has started to fly and Daeron will join the
29:38war shortly that Aemon starts to hear the cries of the small folk coming from King's
29:42Landing their dragons near like everybody run everybody get inside and he sees Ulf White
29:47and silver wing just flying all over the city.
29:50This dragon writing scene is a little bit like Jon Snow's first time trying to write
29:54Rhaegal freaking out the whole time of the Ulf White seems like he's having a better
29:57time of it than Jon Snow did like Jon Snow was terrified that Aemon quickly hops on Vhagar
30:03after them.
30:04The reason why Vhagar is in the countryside is because she's way too big to roost in the
30:08actual dragon, but she can even live there.
30:11Even if Aemon wanted her to she gotten so big that she's become an outdoor cat them
30:15to get that cool scene of Aemon going after them on Dragonstone in finding Rhaenyra with
30:19the three other dragons Vermithor silver wing and Syrax as she stares defiantly at him.
30:25This is her being a little bit more warlike little more Daemon like like come at me bro
30:29in the whole idea here is this whole time on house the dragon Aemon has thought himself
30:34invincible because he has the biggest most powerful dragon.
30:37So that's why he's been lording over everyone this whole time like I am so amazing because
30:42I have the best dragon, but even he's not so stupid as to try and fight three dragons
30:46on once in Vermithor to boot is almost as big as Vhagar just by himself.
30:51The end the episode with her theme music and like I said, kind of pushing into the finale
30:55is we have the idea that Daemon has his army of river lords they want to take King's Landing
31:00Rhaena seems like she's about to claim sheep stealer.
31:03So everything is kind of coming to a head heading into season three.
31:06There was so much stuff happening in the episode if you spotted any Easter eggs or references
