00:00Good morning, it's Steffa at the Doncaster Free Press and it's Thursday July the 25th.
00:04Just bringing you some headlines this morning. First of all, a very sad story,
00:09the Yorkshire Wildlife Park had to put one of its tigers to sleep yesterday morning.
00:15The female tiger was suffering from progressive age-related illnesses and it was deemed
00:22the kindest thing to do. So that'll be a sad loss for the park but obviously they're doing wonders
00:28there, rearing animals, especially endangered species, at the park in Brampton there. So you
00:34can read about that and there's a lovely photograph of Sian, which was the name of the
00:41tiger. Then also, something from the council, there have been plans that have gone before
00:47Doncaster Council to convert a historic city pub. It's received quite a lot of objections
00:56from campaigners but it has now been approved. You can read all about that on our website to date
01:01as well. And then finally, some figures that we received yesterday show that Doncaster is amongst
01:08the top cities in the UK that are suffering from financial hardship. It's a telling tale really,
01:19but hopefully that the city is only up again. You know, there's a lot of investment and a lot
01:24of things going on so hopefully that financial hardship won't last very long. So for those
01:31three stories and for anything else that's happening in Doncaster today, obviously visit
01:34www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk and we'll keep you updated on Facebook and X as the day goes on.
01:42Have a lovely Wednesday.
