00:00Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:04Watchdogs have found that Derbyshire County Council leader Barry Lewis had not breached
00:08any formal decision-making principles after he and the council's cabinet decided to
00:13withdraw funding in a new partnership board after the leader was not selected as its new
00:17chairperson.
00:19Councillor Lewis, of the Conservative-led council, had previously been the chairperson
00:23of the Vision Derbyshire and D2 Economic Prosperity Committees before they were dissolved to form
00:28the new Derby and Derbyshire Strategic Leadership Board.
00:31However, Councillor Lewis and the cabinet withdrew £156,000 of funding after North
00:37East Derbyshire District Council leader Nigel Barker's appointment as the board's new
00:40chairperson.
00:42This led Opposition county councillors to challenge and call in the county council's
00:45decision before a scrutiny committee.
00:47However, after hearing arguments that Councillor Lewis had allegedly acted in peak and thrown
00:53his toys out of the cart, acting prematurely without considering the consequences, the
00:57committee voted that no breach had been committed by a majority decision.
01:04Police are appealing for information after reports of a woman being assaulted in Bolsover.
