00:03A Chesterfield mother and her disabled son died after a fire in a wardrobe at their home
00:09which was started by a naked flame, an inquest has heard.
00:12Sarita Garcia Perez, 65, and her son, Sancho Garcia Bolsover, who was 31, both lost their
00:19lives at the fire at their three-storey home on Staunton Close, Chesterfield on April 7th.
00:25Fire crews rushed to battle ablaze, however Sarita and Sancho were both pronounced dead
00:29at the scene.
00:30At an inquest into their deaths, Derbyshire coroner Susan Evans described how the fire
00:35was well-established when firefighters arrived.
00:38The inquest heard that the blaze originated in the walk-in wardrobe of the master bedroom
00:42from a naked flame having come into contact with items inside.
00:47Miss Evans gave the cause of their death as inhalation of the products of combustion and
00:51concluded that their deaths were the result of an accident.
00:57Derbyshire residents affected by Storm Babette will soon be able to comment on a County Council
01:01flood report after the authority agreed to launch a public consultation.
01:06The Council approved the public consultation into its flood investigation report, which
01:10aims to create a record that could provide recommendations on how to manage future risks.
01:16During the storm between October 18th and 21st last year, around 1,600 properties were
01:21flooded in Derbyshire.
01:23Tragically, Maureen Gilbert, aged 83, died at her home in Tapton Terrace, Chesterfield
01:28after her neighbourhood was flooded.
01:30The 12-week consultation will go out to the public so residents and communities will have
01:34their say on the report and all the feedback will be considered before the Cabinet accepts
01:38a final version of the document.
