00:00Speaker Johnson, you've laid out the case for the geopolitical reasons why the U.S. should support Israel.
00:06But as a man of faith who has been clear about the role that that plays in how you approach your job,
00:12do you also think that there is a moral or biblical rationale for the U.S. to be supporting Israel at this moment?
00:19Sure. It's my personal belief.
00:21It begins in the first book of the Bible, the Torah, in Genesis,
00:25where it says very clearly that God will bless the nation that blesses Israel and curse the nation that curses Israel.
00:31So whether you look at this as a matter of faith, whether you look at it in purely pragmatic reasons,
00:38it's very important, very important for us to support Israel as the only stable democracy in the Middle East
00:44and one of our closest allies, arguably the most strategic ally that we have.
00:50If you do not have a stable democracy in that part of the world, it's a tinderbox.
00:54So supporting Israel, both economically, geopolitically, for policy reasons, makes all the sense in the world.
01:01But for some of us, it goes even deeper than that because it is a matter of faith.
01:05So whatever the reason, there is no logical position for any American to say that they would not support Israel,
01:14especially at this desperate time.
01:16Iran is close to having nuclear capability, if anybody missed that headline over the last couple of weeks.
01:23It's a serious business, and we have to take it seriously,
01:26and the fact that the administration is not even willing to sit on the rostrum to support the prime minister at this time to us is just...
