00:07while giving the Presidential Award to those who participated in the National Invention Contest and Exhibit on Nice.
00:15This is what Kenneth Paciente reported.
00:20President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. acknowledged the Filipino invention
00:25by giving the Presidential Award to those who participated in the National Invention Contest and Exhibit on Nice.
00:36Here, the Executive Board recognized the Filipino inventions
00:39which has a great potential to help the development of the country.
00:44We are not used to it.
00:46Because we are not from the Philippines, our equipment is not complete.
00:50We are looking for a remedy.
00:53Filipinos are good at finding a remedy.
00:56Even if our resources are limited,
00:59even if the situation is difficult,
01:04there is not enough electricity,
01:06there is not enough water,
01:08whatever it is, we find ways around that.
01:12And that's really the distinct for me.
01:14I always say that the success of our Filipinos lies in their industry,
01:21their compassion and resourcefulness.
01:25Among the innovations this year are the salt harvesting equipment,
01:29plastic segmented fish cage and many more.
01:32The inventors of these are awarded a prize of P100,000 to P300,000.
01:39We want them to have, to gain the benefit from their very good work.
01:44All of these inventions here are very fine ideas
01:50that you have put into reality.
01:52You didn't just think of renovating, but you really did it.
01:56You tested it, you made a prototype.
01:58You fixed the damaged part slowly until it was perfect.
02:03And that takes a great deal of persistence and determination
02:09and a belief in the technology that you are developing.
02:13The President hopes that not only will we hear of such inventions,
02:17but the government will continue to support such inventions.
02:23There is also a very strong motivation for the Philippine economy
02:31to have an environment that is conducive to start-ups.
02:39It's a difficult thing because start-ups generally have a failure rate,
02:46but it's rather high.
02:47It's the nature of start-ups.
02:49But one unicorn makes up for all of those others that did not make it.
02:57And that's what we have to do.
02:59TAUNANG NAISA supports the Republic Act 7459
03:03or the Inventors and Invention Incentives Act of the Philippines.
03:07It aims to make it easier for inventors and entrepreneurs
03:11to create new products and processes that will benefit society.
