00:00Hello, good afternoon to all of us. I am again Benison Estareja and we still have an update regarding our monitor, Typhoon Karina with international name, Naguimi, as of 5 in the afternoon.
00:13Last seen was the center of Typhoon Karina at a distance of 325 kilometers northeast of Basco Batanes.
00:21It brought maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour.
00:25The typhoon is still strong and it has gustiness of up to 185 kilometers per hour.
00:31It is still moving east at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour.
00:36Typhoon Karina is causing heavy rains and strong winds in a large part of Luzon, Visayas and western portion of Mindanao.
00:44This is our south-west monsoon that our countrymen will still experience in the next two days.
00:52It is still raining heavily in Habagat on the western side, starting from Ilocos region, down to Zambales, Bataan and other parts of Cordillera region, especially in Abra and Benguet,
01:04down to the Calabar zone, Metro Manila and Occidental Mindoro.
01:08They experienced overnight heavy to intense rains.
01:12That's why the flood and landslides are already there.
01:16And expect moderate to heavy rains in the remaining part of Luzon, western Visayas, as well as Negros Island region,
01:25and here in the western portion of Mindanao, in Sulu Archipelago and Zamboanga Peninsula.
01:32It is still raining heavily, and our countrymen will experience the direct effects in Ilocos Norte, Apayau and a large part of Cagayan Valley.
01:43This is the latest track of typhoon Karina.
01:47We expect it to move north-northwest in the next 12 hours, and by tomorrow, it will move north-east or north-west.
01:57We expect that by tomorrow afternoon, it will be at 390 kilometers,
02:02at the foot of Itbayat Batanes, and by early Thursday, it will be in the northern portion of Taiwan,
02:10and will be outside of our Philippine area of responsibility.
02:14By Thursday afternoon, it will be at 550 kilometers, at the foot of Itbayat Batanes, outside of our area of responsibility.
02:24But by tomorrow and Thursday, the storm will still be there, and it will still be strong, even though it is outside of our area of responsibility.
02:32Based on the width of this typhoon Karina, we expect that it will still be directly affected.
02:38This yellow circle is associated with strong winds, so we expect the direct effect over many areas of Cagayan Valley, Apayau and parts of Ilocos Norte.
02:50Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 is now in effect.
02:54Here in Batanes, they will experience minor to moderate threat to life and property.
02:59We expect strong winds in the next 12 hours.
03:03While we have Signal No. 1, or strong winds until tomorrow, in some parts of the north, including Cagayan and Babuyan Islands,
03:12Eastern portion of Isabela, including Divilacan, Palanan, Makonakon, Dinapique, Tumawini, Ilagan City, San Mariano, Cabagan, San Pablo, and Santa Maria.
03:24We also have Signal No. 1 in the northern portion of Apayau, Calanasan, Luna, Puntol, Flora, Santa Marcela, and Cabugao.
03:34Until the northern portion of Ilocos Norte, we also have Signal No. 1, including Pagudpod, Bangui, Adams, Dumalneg, Burgos, Vintar, Pasukin, Bacara, and Karasi.
03:48For now, we have a heavy rainfall warning associated with the combined effect of Southwest Monsoon plus Typhoon Karina.
03:57We also have a red rainfall warning, meaning torrential rains until 8 p.m.
04:02Here in Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Benguet.
04:09If evacuation is needed, please contact your local disaster reduction and management offices because serious flooding is expected in your area.
04:21For now, we have orange or intense rains expected until 8 p.m. here in Metro Manila.
04:28For the northern portion of Cagayan, northern portion of Apayau, northwestern Abra, Bungsambales, we expect intense rainfall.
04:37For Bataan, Rizal, Cavite, up to Laguna and Batangas, we expect heavy rainfall.
04:45This means that flooding will also occur, not only in low-lying areas, but also in nearby rivers, which may flood or flood your rivers.
04:55Here in the central portion of Cagayan, we have yellow warning or heavy rains within three hours.
05:02Here in the northern portion of Apayau, west of Abra, western Pangasinan, up to Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan,
05:11for the northern and central portions of Quezon, we have yellow rainfall warning for the next three hours.
05:17These are heavy rains, but flooding will also occur in low-lying areas.
05:22In these areas, landslides or landslides are also possible, especially in mountainous areas.

06:05While we have moderate to heavy rains or sometimes intense rains later tonight,
06:10here in eastern Isabela, Apayau, Calinga, Mountain Province, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Laguna, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro,
06:21Maninduque, Romblon, and northern portion of Palawan, as well as Aklan and Antique.
06:27By tomorrow, heavy to intense rains due to heavy to intense rains in Batanes, Ilocos region, Abra, Benguet, Sambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro.
06:40While we have 50-100 mm of rains tomorrow, here in Baboyan Islands, Apayau, Calinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija,
06:53Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, for those who are asking for Metro Manila,
06:58it will be part of what will weaken our rains by tomorrow, but moderate to heavy rains will still be expected.
07:04The same goes for Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, and Calamian Islands in Palawan.
07:11By Thursday, this will be the time when Bagyong Karina will be outside of PAR.
07:17We will still expect 50-100 mm of rains here in Batanes, Baboyan Islands, the whole Ilocos region, Apayau, Abra, Benguet, Sambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro.
07:29Gradually, our rains will weaken, especially here in Luzon, but it will continue to rain in the western section of Luzon.
07:43I would like to remind our fellow countrymen,
07:46the areas that are in the mountainous areas, the higher areas,
07:50there is a higher chance that you will have stronger rains,
07:54and under these conditions, there is a higher chance of flooding, especially in the lower areas.
08:00And for those who are not flooding, because the rains will continue,
08:04there is a higher chance of flooding in your area.
08:07To those who live near rivers, please monitor your water levels there.
08:12If you need to evacuate, and rain-induced landslides, especially in the mountainous areas,
08:17in the Caraballo Mountains, in the Cordillera Regions, in the nearby mountains of Sierra Madre,
08:22be careful in the landslides.
08:27In terms of severe winds, some have noticed that there is a strong wind.
08:33In the areas that we mentioned as signal number one,
08:36Ilocos Norte, Apayau, Cagayan, Isabela, Batanes,
08:39those are the areas that are directly affected by the strong winds of Karina.
08:43But in other areas in Luzon and western Visayas, as well as western Mindanao,
08:47the winds are due to the Habagat or southwest monsoon, not due to the typhoon.
08:52We expect strong to gale-force gas or strong winds until Thursday, July 25,
08:59in Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Region, the entire Cordillera Region,
09:04as well as Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, the entire central Luzon,
09:08the entire Metro Manila, possibly Magastines, Calabarzon, Mimaropa,
09:14up to Bicol Region, western Visayas,
09:17affected by the strong winds of Habagat, as well as Negros Occidental,
09:23northern Samar, northern Mindanao, and Zamboanga Peninsula.
09:28And if there is a strong wind, our waves will eventually be strong.
09:33And the highest waves in the areas near Baguio-Karina, extreme northern Luzon,
09:39we have a gale warning of up to 4.5 meters,
09:42or in one-half of the area of Gusali, as well as Batanes,
09:46and northern coast of Cagayan, as well as Babuyan Islands.
09:50If it is prohibited, our fellow fishermen,
09:53and even those who travel by sea, medium-sized, and those who travel by sea.
09:58We also have a gale warning of up to 4 meters in the eastern seaboards of Luzon and Visayas,
10:04in the western seaboards of Visayas and Luzon,
10:083.5 meters, or in one-half of the area of Gusali,
10:12while 2.5 meters in the seaboard spot of Mindanao and the southern part of Cabizayaan.
10:20We will repeat the scenario regarding Typhoon Karina.
10:24This will come out of our Philippine area of responsibility on Thursday morning,
10:29after it crosses, possibly here in the northern portion of Taiwan,
10:34and it will head towards southeastern China.
10:37However, even though this is slowly moving away from our land starting later tonight,
10:42this will still enhance the coast.
10:44It will bring rain and wind gusts within 24 to 48 hours,
10:51and it will still have a direct effect for tonight here in the northern part of Ilocos Norte, Apayao,
10:57and the northern part of Cagayan Valley.
