Don't know what to do with your Christmas tree? Donate it to hungry goats
A Midwest-based nonprofit has a pretty unique and eco-friendly solution: Donate it to hungry goats. Urban Growers Collective is accepting any decoration-free pine Christmas trees at its farm in Chicago, Illinois.
The farm currently has 9 Nigerian Pygmy goats who love eating the bark, branches and needles off of Christmas trees.
Pine Christmas trees are a nutritious snack for goats, packed with vitamins A and C, according to Urban Growers Collective. Farm Ambassador Mykele Deville told Reuters, "It helps their digestive tract.

00:00I'm going to get you.
00:02I'll get you.
00:08Girl, they didn't strip a bear out by tonight.
00:12Because they can graze for the rest of the day off that.
00:16Oh yeah.
00:28Yay.
00:36That was awesome.
00:38That's what we found.
00:40Just a little bit of ABC7
00:42January, I think we're going to confirm that.
00:44January 5th, ABC7.
00:46Yeah.
00:48We have nine Nigerian pygmy goats.
00:50They're all female.
01:08How cute.
01:10It's super exciting to be able to
01:12have your own live Christmas tree.
01:14But a bit of the hassle sometimes is figuring out
01:16where to take care of it
01:18after the holidays.
01:20Where do you drop it? You don't want to just kind of put it outside.
01:22How can you recycle that?
01:26Okay, wait.
01:28Don't get hostile.
01:30Don't get hostile on me now.
01:38You can stand it up.
01:56Nothing goes to waste here.
01:58So we would like to
02:00spread that out to people who have their Christmas trees.
02:02The goats will gladly eat them.
02:04Right now we're feeding them hay
02:06and
02:08the hay could get boring around this time of year.
02:10So definitely the pine trees
02:12are going to be a nice treat for them.
02:36You have a natural composter right here.
02:38It helps their digestive tract.
02:40It helps them to avoid parasites.
02:42And it's a way of getting rid
02:44of your Christmas tree
02:46and keeping your conscience clean
02:48so you're not littering or throwing it away.
02:50It's going to be so crazy
02:52over the next couple of years
02:54when it comes to that administration
02:56and the media.
02:58We're sending you strength
03:00from afar, brother.
03:16The pine needles
03:18are healthy for them too.
03:20The vitamins in them will help them.
03:22Right now their winter coats are coming in
03:24so their hair will be healthier,
03:26from the harsh cold.
03:28It even freshens their breath
03:30so it doesn't smell so much back here.
03:48They like to scratch on things, stuff like that.
03:50They will definitely scratch on those
03:52trees and play with them.
03:56Look how she's scratching!
03:58It's so cute!
04:02Perfume! They're getting perfume!
04:26Perfume!
04:28Perfume!
04:30Perfume!
