00:04The Christmas holiday season is always special on the island of Sodor.
00:12There are presents and prizes and gifts and surprises for everyone.
00:20One snowy day, Edward and Thomas were at Brendam Docks.
00:26Thomas was shunting trucks of brightly wrapped presents.
00:30Oh my, Thomas! The Christmas holiday season is my favourite time of the year!
00:37It's mine too, Edward!
00:40Just then, Salty trundled over.
00:43Hello, me hearties!
00:45Oh, that's a fine load of presents you have there!
00:49Every one a surprise!
00:52That's right, Salty! Now I must hurry to deliver them to Knapford Station.
00:57They must be there in time for the children's party.
01:02Salty, do you like presents and parties?
01:06Salty smiled.
01:08Oh, I don't have time for presents and parties, me hearty!
01:13I love a good story, me! That's all I need!
01:19Salty chugged away cheerfully.
01:23Edward wheeshed, worried.
01:25I'm sure a good story isn't all Salty needs.
01:30Salty needs a Christmas holiday present.

01:40And Edward huffed happily away to the steamworks.

01:51I've come to find a Christmas holiday present for Salty.
01:55That's a very good idea, Edward.
01:58Chuff around until you find something special for Salty.

02:05Then Edward saw Rosie.
02:08She was shining and smiling with a bright new coat of paint.
02:14An idea flew into Edward's funnel.
02:17I will take Salty a pot of bright paint.
02:22So Edward chuffed cheerfully back to the docks and to Salty.
02:28Salty, I've brought you a happy Christmas holiday present.
02:34It's a pot of bright green paint.
02:37Now you can be as green as a Christmas tree!
02:41Salty was surprised.
02:43Oh, shiver me timbers, Edward. I've a story about green paint.
02:48Tell me, Salty.
02:50Ah, well, once long ago there was no red paint on the island.
02:56So, thems in charge painted me green.
03:01But then no one could find me,
03:04because they were all still looking for a red engine.
03:10So, you see, I could never be painted green again.
03:15But I thank ye, Edward, for your kindness.
03:18Edward's firebox fizzed.
03:21That was a good story!

03:30So Edward clickety-clacked back along the track to the steamworks.
03:36Victor was surprised.
03:38Salty didn't want to be green. I must find him another present.

03:50Kevin held high the fancy funnel.
03:53Edward wished worried.
03:55Salty's a diesel, Kevin. He doesn't need a funnel.
03:59I know, but this one is fancy!
04:03Edward had to agree.
04:05Salty might like a fancy funnel.
04:08So Edward raced like the wind all the way to Salty.

04:20Now you will be the most special diesel on the whole of Sodor!

04:49Then the strangest thing happened.

04:57It wobbled and it wibbled.
05:00Till it rolled to the ground and into the sea.
05:04Splash! Sploosh! Never to be seen again!
05:09So, thank ye, Edward, for your kindness.
05:13But I won't be taking your fancy funnel.
05:17Edward whistled.
05:19I see. That's a good story.

05:28So Edward steamed slowly away and left the fancy funnel with Kevin
05:34to find another Christmas holiday present for Salty.
05:39Now Edward was worried.
05:42Oh, me! Oh, my! I must find a present for Salty!
05:47Then Edward saw the Christmas trees.
05:51A Christmas tree!
05:53I'm sure that would be a very special Christmas holiday present for Salty!
06:00So Edward wheeshed and he whooshed all the way back to Salty.

06:13Salty was surprised.
06:16Oh, shiver me timbers, Edward!
06:19Oh, I've a story about Christmas trees.
06:23Tell me, Salty, please!
06:26Ah, well, once, a long, long time ago,
06:31I was given a Christmas tree, me hearty.
06:34Ah, it was grand! Ah, it was green!
06:39It was great!
06:41But, ha, the smell of the sea made it sickly.
06:46It shriveled, it shrunk, and it shook like a wobbly weed.
06:52So I thank ye, Edward, for your kindness, but I won't be taking your tree.
06:59Edward felt terrible.
07:02Oh, me! Oh, my!
07:05All I wanted to do was to give you a Christmas holiday present
07:10and I haven't.
07:12Oh, but you have, Edward. Ha, ha!

07:20Edward thought and he thought.

07:41Now, gather round, me hearties, and listen to me story.
07:45So Edward and his friends gathered round Salty.
07:51And Salty began.
07:53Once, a kind and wise engine called Edward
07:58wanted to give an old red diesel a Christmas holiday present.
08:03So away he went, a-looking around the island.
08:07And what that kind and wise engine called Edward gave Salty
08:13was just what that old red diesel wanted.
08:18A new story to tell!
08:21That was a wonderful story, Salty.
08:26Then the Fat Controller arrived dressed as Santa Claus.
