00:00The third regular session of the 19th Congress here in Camara has opened today.
00:17We will get more details on this from Tina Panganiban-Perez. Tina?
00:21Raffy, before the third regular session of the 19th Congress opened earlier this morning,
00:31several leaders of the Camara conducted an inspection inside the session hall
00:35in favor of House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
00:38Unification, solidarity in politics, and the establishment of a strong country
00:43became the center of the Speaker's message.
00:45Support for the President is paramount.
00:48The priority of the Camara will be to pass the P6.352 trillion national budget
00:55before the Congress recesses in October,
00:57and the remaining three LEDAC bills that the Camara will not pass yet
01:01are the amendments to the Foreign Investors Long-Term Lease Act,
01:04amendments to the Agrarian Reform Law,
01:06and amendments to the Electric Power Industry Reform Act or EPIRA.
01:10The Speaker has been encouraging the first regular session of the 19th Congress to open
01:15until now.
01:18More than 12,000 bills have already been passed by the Camara,
01:22including the Maharlika Investment Fund Act,
01:24Ease of Paying Taxes Act,
01:26New Government Procurement Act,
01:28Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act,
01:30Free College Entrance Examinations Act,
01:33and back to the Education Act.
01:35All the bills that the President asked for in the last session
01:40were passed by the Camara.
01:42The Speaker is hoping that the President will pass a new set of SONA Priority Bills later
01:47that will also be a priority for the Camara.
01:50The Speaker wants the country's economy to be stable
01:53and the Camara supports the lowering of the price of imported rice
01:58from 35% to 15%.
02:01The relationship between the Philippines and other countries is also good.
02:04In implementing the oversight functions of the Camara,
02:08the Camara is strengthening the fight against criminal activities
02:11such as investigations against illegal drugs and what is happening in Pogo.
02:16The Speaker also promised All Systems Go for the SONA of the President later.
02:21At 4 p.m. later, the joint session of the Senate and the Camara will open
02:25to accept the President.
02:27The Camara is expecting more than 2,000 visitors,
