00:00For those who are looking for a job, there is someone waiting for you in Singapore and Saudi Arabia.
00:10Find out what it is in the news of JP Soriano.
00:17The Ambassador of Singapore in the Philippines and DMW-Aden's Secretary Hans Leo Kavdak were even asked to dance
00:26in the celebration of Philippine-Singapore Friendship Week.
00:29The friendship also resulted in almost 200,000 Filipinos choosing to work or live in Singapore.
00:37Now, more Filipino skilled workers are needed there.
00:42Their priority is also Filipino nurses.
00:45Now, the need here is growing.
00:48We will be needing a lot more healthcare and allied healthcare workers, including nursing aides.
00:54And so there has been a push to recruit more of them.
00:59Aside from Singapore, there is a job opportunity for Filipino workers in Saudi Arabia.
01:04Secretary Kavdak, who is originally from Saudi Arabia,
01:08replaced the need there by adding more Filipino health and skilled workers.
01:13But mainly, because of the development of what they call giga cities or mega cities projects,
01:20then it will be along the lines of construction.
01:25One of the people applying for a job in Saudi Arabia is the former OFW in Kuwait, Annalyn.
01:30She is still nervous.
01:32Especially for a conservative and small country, she was able to find a job.
01:37Our lives are in danger.
01:39We don't know what we will face.
01:44That's why we need to be secured.
01:47That's what DMW is trying to do.
01:50They were able to review before renewing the current bilateral labor agreement between the Philippines and Saudi.
01:57And we're talking to them in terms of labor protection, in terms of safe, fair, ethical recruitment processes,
02:04access to justice, and other forms of protection, entitlements and health insurance, and standard contracts.
02:12Kakdak apologized to the affected workers in Saudi Arabia
02:17for not being able to receive unpaid wages from the oil companies.
02:25Up to 2,500 affected workers were able to receive unpaid wages,
02:33which amounted to 130 million Saudi Riyals or 1.9 billion pesos.
02:41But there are still more than 2,000 unpaid wages.
02:45We just have to be a little patient.
02:48Because from the Saudi side, this is an inter-agency effort.
02:51From the Philippine side, Department of Migrant Workers, DFA, Joint Forces.
02:56J.P. Soriano, reporting for GMA Integrated News.
