00:00Me personally, I do not get into useless and unfruitful debates with people about what style is better.
00:08In my humble opinion, the person in front of you represents the style.
00:14The question is how will that person apply and manipulate the skills they've acquired.
00:21If they turn out to be lousy in what they do, does that equate to the style being crap?
00:28My answer to that is no, it really doesn't.
00:59You might like the trainer, but does it feel good on your foot?
01:03When you're walking, does it hurt? Is it digging into your toes?
01:07So there's no best, it's what you think fits you.
01:13What martial arts you wish to partake in will be dependent upon what you wish to get out of it in the first place.
01:24Different people get into martial arts for different reasons.
01:29So it's about finding what fits you, what fits those things you wish to gain.
01:45Every art is as good as the person who practices the art.
01:53What is the difference between a great person and a bad person?
01:59Tom over there may do the same thing as you, but Tom over there is not very good.
02:06But then the person over there is great.
02:08But the person over here who's great, he can still lose.
02:12Because there are so many factors that happen within an altercation, within a fight.
02:18So many.
02:19So no matter how great you are, you could still lose by a lesser person.
02:26When you say lesser, what do you mean?
02:28When I say lesser, I'm not in a disrespectful way.
02:30But in terms of a person may not have the same ability as you or may not be as strong as you or whatnot.
02:39On a normal day, he may not be able to defeat you.
02:42That human ability.
02:43But on this specific day, he might do so because of certain factors.
02:48There are so many things that can cause you to lose.
02:51So you never ever have your mindset thinking that you're untouchable.
02:55Of course.
02:56Because the day that you lose is the day that you're going to fall apart.
03:07If you've got a football, what makes the football is the player.
03:14Without the player, the football is just a ball.
03:16Absolutely.
03:17And every player, they may run with the ball, kick the ball.
03:20But everyone is different in how they express.
03:23So that is what it's about.
03:24Okay.
03:25Finding yourself.
03:28You said what art would be the best art to do?
03:31The best art to do would be the best art that you feel fits you.
03:35Do you know what I'm saying?
03:36Because there's no art out there that is the greatest or the best over another.
03:41Do you know what I'm saying?
03:42The art is just a name.
03:44The actual presentation of the art comes through each individual.
03:49Do you know what I'm saying?
03:50So us four, if we all learnt whaling, we would all present whaling in our own way.
03:58So you might be a man who's like fully on the ape.
04:02You understand?
04:03You might be a snake man and llama.
04:05You understand?
04:06You might be crane and peeling fish.
04:10So we'll all present it in our own way.
04:13Which is why on that video online where it said Aikido versus MMA,
04:18I had to interject and say,
04:22well, no, this is not Aikido versus MMA.
04:25This is John versus Paul.
04:27Yeah.
04:28Yeah.
04:29Yeah.
04:30Yeah.
04:31You said something else as well about styles and how they fit you.
04:35And it's about going into the trainer shop.
04:38Yeah.
04:39That analogy you made.
04:40Can you make that again?
04:42I was saying, what did I say?
04:44I said when you walk into a sports shop,
04:49you may like a pair of trainers, but do those trainers suit you?
04:56Let's say you're going out.
04:59Does it suit what you're planning on wearing to go out?
05:03Maybe it does.
05:06Maybe it does.
05:07But guess what?
05:08You've put it on.
05:09You've walked around the shop.
05:11How do they fit?
05:13Do they have your size?
05:15Are they digging into your little foot, into your little toe?
05:20Are they comfortable?
05:22So it's not always about what looks good to your eye.
05:26It's also about what is fitting for you.
05:31You understand?
05:33So it's about the hand and glove thing.
05:37You know what I mean?
05:39Comfortability.
05:41Because obviously I have done various arts,
05:45and those arts in which I went into, I would say they did fit me.
