00:00I mean, he's dependable. He's a pro. He's always been great on TV and radio. That's
00:12why I rely on him. I can always like, I know if I need, I need that juice. I can always
00:18get ahold of Cobman. I can't stand him. I mean, I loved working with him all these years,
00:22but I can't stand him because he's from Boston. I can't stand his smug ass. I had to do a,
00:28like a, what was it like a two hour basketball show with him two days in a row. I wanted
00:33to kill myself, uh, talking about the Celtics every day for two hours at a clip. I wanted
00:38to jump in a river and then, uh, you know, they win it all and he's going to parades
00:45and he's sending me jerseys to my house as a joke. He's, he's nasty like that. And now
00:52I got him breathing down my neck in the AL East, uh, with the Red Sox over the last month
00:57being the best team in baseball. I mean, what is next?
01:00Keep going. Keep going, Scotty. I'll show you here. You can see me here. Look at this.
01:05You see this right here. That's confetti from the parade that you're talking about. You
01:10see that green and white little silver. Yeah. Boom. Right there. See it. You read the label
01:16and it's from the duck boat parade. Oh, so good. Yeah. That's just take it and take off
01:22the top. Just like a candle. Just drink it in. Scotty. Oh, it's, it's, it's nice. That's,
01:28that's the taste of glory. It's a championship. That's banner 18 right there for you. I'm
01:34great. Oh, and then, and let me guess. You took your, you took your boys to see the parade
01:40and the whole family. Oh, of course. Yeah. No, you got to get the kids out there. It's
01:45it's for the kids. Scotty. Listen, I, I know the players and many in the, uh, in the crowd
01:50like to be, uh, you know, drinking nice and early in the morning and all that the kids,
01:54they need the atmosphere. They got to get out there and see what adulthood is like from
01:58a sports fan perspective. You know, I could have dealt without the guy in the front row
02:02kicking and shoving and stepping on my, my nine-year-old's foot here and there.
02:07But other than that, you know, these are the sacrifices that you have to make when you're,
02:11when you're in the hub of sports, man. I mean, this is, this is championship city right here.
02:16This is the championship for Boston right here. Cause I know we're going to talk about
02:21the Red Sox and what their dreams are. The Celtics championship. This is if you want
02:25to get sick, Scotty, if you want to get nauseous, maybe you grow up live on the air for your
02:29viewers. This was the longest second longest championship drought in Boston history since
02:36they have had the big four Red Sox, Patriots Bruins and Celtics. And that drought was only
02:41about five and a half years. So things have been pretty good around here.
02:45Oh my God. It's just so painful listening to this guy. I have to tell you, I thought
02:52that the, and I know, you know, deservedly you guys kicked their ass, but, and that you
02:59were the best team in the NBA all year. You kicked everyone's ass. But the reality is
03:03that that finals was horrible. It was horrible.
03:06Yeah. If, if I'm just again, like if I'm removing Boston bias and, and I would like it to be
03:12a, a sweet four games win by 20 points a piece. That's, that's what you're rooting
03:16for when it's your team, obviously. But if I'm just talking purely as a basketball fan,
03:21the whole post season was pretty lousy, but yeah, the finals were terrible. And I empathize
03:26with the people out there that, you know, it was all over social media, all over Twitter
03:29going, you know, after that seven to 10 day break, whatever it was between the conference
03:34finals and the start of the NBA finals sitting, we had to wait a week, week and a half for
03:37this, for this garbage. It's true. It went five games. And honestly, most of them were
03:43not competitive at all. It was not a competitive series. You could argue that the Celtics sweeping
03:48the Pacers in four closely contested games was a more competitive, more entertaining
03:53series than obviously that NBA finals against the Dallas Mavericks.
03:57So yeah, I get it again, just purely as a fan with no rooting interest whatsoever. You
04:02just want to be entertained for sure. But, and, and that's how a lot of people were talking,
04:07you know, three games into the Stanley cup final, right? Like that's, that's how I felt
04:11because I didn't have a dog in that fight between Edmonton and Florida. I didn't really
04:14care who won. So I was looking at it going three Oh, like this is terrible. Who wants
04:19to watch this? And of course, you know, we see Edmonton make a run, take it to seven
04:22games and then Florida ends up finally pulling it out and, and getting their heads on right
04:26and finishing the job. But it, I mean, there were a lot of similarities between those two
04:31series, at least at that stage.
04:34So let's talk about the Red Sox. Why are they so good on the road? And they've been
04:39so average at Fenway and they have been the best team in baseball over the last month.
04:46Yeah, it's a good question. And I think it's just kind of one of those fluky baseball things.
04:52I don't think there's really a reason for it. I mean, you could certainly say that at
04:57Fenway, the crowd fans support has not been as, as raucous, as loud as maybe it's been
05:05in, in past years. And so I, it's a little tougher to get up for those games, not to
05:11make any excuses. Obviously these guys are professionals. You got to go out and deliver,
05:16but you know, I, I think just sort of as we get farther along in sports and maybe this
05:21sort of turned with the bubble during COVID times you know, in the NBA or, you know, in
05:27the first year for be it major league baseball, NHL and NFL as well, where there were no fans
05:33in the stands for, you know, many of those being outdoor games other than NHL. I think
05:37it's sort of removed home field, home court, home ice advantage in a lot of ways going
05:43forward. I don't know why it hasn't really followed, but I think if you look at the lot,
05:47a lot of the splits for a lot of teams, playoffs, whatever it may be since then, it just sort
05:52of feels like it's gone. And so I don't know what exactly to attribute it to, to the Red
05:58Sox. It's, you know, some teams say that, Hey, we, we get to go on the road. We're out
06:04of our own beds, out of our own houses, distractions, wives, kids, we can, it's just, you know,
06:08boys on the road bonding and we're close knit and having a good time and, and it brings
06:13us together. And so we sort of rally around that as well. I don't know if that's the case
06:18with the Red Sox or if that's just a cliche sort of thing, but you can't argue with the
06:22results. Like you said, they have been especially compared to expectation, pretty incredible
06:28over the last month, month and a half going to the break hot there, you know, nevermind
06:32in a playoff position in terms of a wildcard spot right now, they're in striking distance
06:37to actually win the division. They're only four and a half back right now. And that's,
06:42I mean, nobody, even at the highest levels of the Red Sox, nobody could have possibly
06:48envisioned that going into this season. And I think there are a lot of people, honestly,
06:51over at Fenway who are probably pretty unhappy about it because they had no interest in spending
06:56on this team in the off season. And now they may have pushed ownership and management in
07:02the front office to the point of having to invest in this team at the trade deadline,
07:06a couple of weeks. So, I mean, I've heard these crazy stories that people believe that Cora
07:11won't be there next year. I've even heard that the Yankees would fire Boone and hire Cora.
07:17What are you hearing? Why in God's name would they get rid of this guy when they could catch
07:22the Yankees before you can spit? They could catch the Orioles before you can spit. Although they do
07:28have a brutal start, I think, out west against the Dodgers to start the second half. But what
07:33about Cora? Well, they're not going to get rid of him. Getting rid of him implies like, hey,
07:39he's about to lose his job or something like that. The fact is he's a lame duck manager. He's in the
07:44final year of his contract. They elected not to extend him off of what had been a couple of pretty
07:51miserable seasons. And I'm not saying those are his fault. Again, ownership is not at all invested
07:55in this team. They have made some really curious, really poor personnel moves that he has just kind
08:02of had to deal with. Hell, he's been kind of sniping at the front office here and there saying
08:06that if you'd help us, if you invest a little bit, then imagine how good we could be to sort
08:12of paraphrase a lot of the messages that he's been floating through the media. And so I think
08:17he's kind of at odds a little bit with upper management, knowing that he has not been given
08:21the best product to win with. So I think he's a little agitated, but also they have not put a new
08:28deal in front of him to sign him up long term. So he's here through the end of the year. He's
08:33not about to lose his job, but it doesn't sound like his contract is going to be extended or
08:38renewed. And so maybe that does open up an opportunity in the Bronx. He has proven he is an
08:44excellent, excellent manager, and he's going to have the pick of his job, provided that he wants
08:50to continue managing elsewhere. Well, that is crazy. If they win the East or if they get to the
08:56postseason in that wildcard, they're in the third wildcard right now. They got Kansas City two back,
09:01Astros three and a half back. If any of those things happen and they don't give him a new deal,
09:07that is absurdity at the highest level. Go smell your confetti candle and hang out with your kids
09:14and enjoy your 18 banner. I hate you. Always good to see Adam. I love you brother.
