00:00He's a younger guy, right? He's not an executive. He's not a whole lot of experience in the Senate.

00:07Well, I think it's like a lot of things in life. This has sort of evolved.

00:11And, you know, if you asked us three months ago, maybe not.

00:14But this has been looking more and more like J.D. Vance, and today it finally has been confirmed.

00:20Do you think he brings something to the ticket that might help Donald Trump grab voters that he might not otherwise have?

00:27Yeah. Well, look, I think he is consistent with Trump's appeal to working men and women.

00:34I think what the president has done, President Trump has done, is to pick someone who is younger, which I think is good and expected,

00:44but also someone who really shares his desire to expand the base of the Republican Party.

00:50And so that's always something that we have to focus on.

00:53Governor, I'm sorry you have to answer the same question over and over again for the next few hours.

00:59What is your initial reaction to the news that it will be J.D. Vance?

01:03Well, having J.D. Vance as the vice presidential candidate, and we hope the vice president, is a great day for Ohio.

01:09It's a great news for Ohio. We say Ohio is the heart of it all.

01:12Now we have the vice president, or at least the vice presidential nominee.

01:16So we're excited about this. And, you know, I've gotten to know J.D. over the last few years.

01:21He really has an ability, I think, to appeal to working men and women.

01:24I think what President Trump did is to find someone who is younger, but who is very consistent with what the president has been talking about and what he stands for.

01:35Governor, what do you say to those who say that J.D. Vance is too similar to Trump and might not draw in those more moderate Republican voters?

01:43Well, I think the president should pick someone who clearly agrees with his position.
