00:00Kuala Lumpur High Court has ordered the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to
00:06preserve and electrify a service provider's IT infrastructure at its data centre until
00:11the trial of a multi-million ringgit lawsuit next year.
00:14In the suit, New Mayor Sandeeran Berhad accuses the MCMC and six of its current and former
00:19senior officers of misconduct in public office and wrongful interference in trade or business.
00:25The defendants deny the allegations.
00:27On April 18, Judicial Commissioner Rose Mawaror Zain ordered the MCMC to retain custody and
00:34preserve the equipment until the trial, which is scheduled to start on October 6 next year.
00:39The court also ordered that the equipment must stay operational, be kept in a locked
00:42cage under CCTV surveillance and have retrievable recordings.
00:47New Mayor represented by Liu Teck Huat, Reuben Mathiavaranam, Ong Kang Nyong and Kathleen
00:52Samantha George also contended that an abrupt shutdown would damage the integrity of the
00:56equipment and corrupt its data, affecting the forensic analyses needed for the trial.
01:01FMT understands that MCMC has since switched the equipment back on.
01:05The next case management before Rose Mawaror is scheduled for October 1, with parties directed
01:10to complete and submit expert forensic reports on the status and integrity of New Mayor's
01:16IT infrastructure by that date.
