00:00We do not wish to continue the ban on DNS redirection.
00:09The government has no plans to pursue an initiative requiring all internet service providers to
00:14implement domain name system redirection by the end of this month.
00:19Over the weekend, Fahmy, who is also the Communications Minister, instructed the Malaysian Communications
00:24and Multimedia Commission not to proceed with its DNS redirection plan.
00:29This follows feedback received through a series of engagements MCMC conducted with
00:33the general public.
00:35However, he said the country's internet regulator would continue to engage with all
00:39stakeholders to gather their feedback and suggestions to achieve the shared objective
00:43of a safer internet.
00:45MCMC previously stressed that only harmful sites like those with pornography or online
00:50gambling will be blocked, while legitimate websites remain accessible.
00:54DNS servers direct internet traffic by providing the route from the user to the target website.
01:01Some users choose to use third-party servers such as Google DNS or Cloudfare for faster
01:06speeds and other benefits.
