00:00Kimberly, you've just won the first stage of the Giro d'Italia Women, the last one, a massive historical achievement for your country.
00:07What do you feel right now?
00:08Yeah, I have no words. I think being in this bunch and on the start of any race this year in the World Tour has been a dream.
00:17And, yeah, of course it's something I've always wanted.
00:21But, yeah, it's always something you dream of, but you never know if it's possible.
00:27Because I always see the others are stronger than me, and today proved that it's possible.
00:32And, yeah, it's not only for me, but this is for the team.
00:36We've had a bit of bad luck in the Giro, and, yeah, it's super cool to finish in this way.
00:42What was the plan and the tactics to achieve such a big victory today?
00:46Yeah, so I lost a lot of time in GC, so my GC Europe was over, and we went into today to have fun.
00:52And the tactic was to actually win the stage with either me or my teammate Gaia.
00:57So, yeah, I gave it everything. I had nothing to lose.
01:00So it was either all or nothing, and, yeah, pretty crazy that I crossed first.
01:06Congrats.
01:07Thank you.
01:08Elisa, you're finally in L'Aquila, and you are wearing a pretty special jersey since day one.
01:13Now you've made it. Have you realized that yet?
01:16No, now it's mine.
01:19Today we started, and people were doubting, and they were like, oh, Kopecky will out-sprint you.
01:24And I was like, we have 1% of the chances to win.
01:28We have one second, and everyone in the team was super motivated to keep the Maglia Rosa and to keep the leadership.
01:36All the teammates did an amazing job.
01:39Everyone was so committed, so thank you very much.
01:42I'm really proud to wear this Maglia Rosa in Italy with the Lidl track jersey on.
01:47And I will need some time to realize what I've been doing.
01:53And it was so special because my husband came this morning.
01:59He started around 2.30 tonight to be at the start, and he was then here.
02:05And I just wanted to cross the line with the Maglia Rosa and to show everybody I was the strongest,
02:11and the Lidl track is the strongest team.
02:14If you have to think about the week you've had, what's your best memory?
02:20Of the Giro, you mean?
02:22Yeah.
02:24Well, probably today, because I like the thrill, I like the adrenaline.
02:29When it's about one second, I like the head-to-head fight, and I like to fight until the end.
02:38And when I see the finish line, I just see red like a bull, and I just want to go straight to it.
02:44And today, I really wanted to give it back to Kopecky, because she made me a bit upset.
02:49Now I can say that.
02:50Yesterday, I was nervous today in a very good way, and I was like, I'm going to crack you, no matter what.
02:58Congratulations.
03:00Thank you.
03:01It was an amazing battle between Elisa Longoborghini and you.
03:05How was it today, though?
03:08Yeah, it was not so nice today.
03:11It was actually a pretty hard stage.
03:13I mean, the fight was nice, that's for sure.
03:16I mean, losing from Elisa is not a shame.
03:18She's a super good bike rider, so I also have a lot of respect for her.
03:22But yeah, it was really hard to control the stage, and everybody tried to go into break, which is their right, of course.
03:32But then, yeah, I think my teammates did what they could, and then in the end, Neve, she gave 200%, I think.
03:39So yeah, I think we did everything we could to try and win the GC.
03:45But in the end, it's second, and I think it's still very nice to become second in the Grand Tour.
03:51You're wearing the red jersey, the points classification.
03:54You won a stage, you came second in the GC, and you are the first rider from Belgium, actually, to come on the podium.
04:01Are you satisfied with your performance overall?
04:03Yeah, I mean, I have to look at the bigger picture.
04:07I mean, I came here to prepare for the Olympics, and I think I'm in really good shape.
04:11And that, of course, gives me confidence.
04:14But if you're this close to winning the Giro, then, of course, you also want to win it.
04:17So that's a bit sour.
04:20But yeah, I think overall, I just need to be proud of my team and of myself.
04:27Thank you.
04:29Justine, you conquered this jersey yesterday on that special stage.
04:33Now you're still wearing it, and you take it home.
04:35How does it feel?
04:37Yeah, it's incredible.
04:38I have no words, especially after day six with the big crash.
04:43Yeah, I thought, again, bad luck.
04:49And my legs were so good that day, and I wanted to show myself.
04:53And then with the crash, I had a mental... it was tough.
04:57But then I thought, come on, Justine, you only need your legs, not your lips.
05:01And then I went all in.
05:04And today, yeah, again, all in.
05:07It was a very heavy stage.
05:09And then with Kim, who won, it was an incredible day for us.
05:14Did you expect this result before the Giro started?
05:17No, I never dreamed about it.
05:22I knew I was in good form, but I didn't know I really could get the mountain jersey.
05:30And I would find my climbing legs back again, so I'm really happy.
05:36What's the goal now? You're taking some time off?
05:39Yeah, I think two, three days easy, and then focus on Paris.
05:43I go there for Lotte Kopecky to support her in the road race.
05:49So it's nice. I'm looking forward to it.
05:57Niamh, you won the Queen's stage yesterday.
06:00You finished third on GC, you're wearing the white jersey.
06:03Are you satisfied with your performance overall?
06:05Yes, I think we can be really happy with this Giro.
06:09We wanted a podium on the GC and a stage win, so we're really happy.
06:16And we also worked really well together as a team.
06:19So I don't think we should be disappointed at all.
06:22Do these results give you more confidence to achieve something more,
06:27like the Maglia Rosa in the next future?
06:29Yeah, for sure. I've had a few good results lately,
06:33but I think this one just topped it off again
06:36and made me realize that it wasn't all just luck in the past.
06:40What's coming next now?
06:42So now I'll have a week easy, reset, and then focus on the Tour de France.
06:47Good luck then for the Tour.
06:49Thank you.
