Biden condemns political violence after Trump rally shooting

US President Joe Biden called for an end to political violence after gunfire erupted at Republican challenger Donald Trump's political rally in Pennsylvania earlier on Saturday (July 13), saying in televised remarks that the former president appeared to be doing well.

00:03I've been thoroughly briefed by all the agencies in the federal government as to the situation
00:08based on what we know now.
00:10I have tried to get a hold of Donald, he's with his doctors, apparently he's doing well.
00:17I plan on talking to them shortly, I hope, when I get back to the telephone.
00:23Look, there's no place in America for this kind of violence, it's sick.
00:28It's sick.
00:29It's one of the reasons why we have to unite this country.
00:32We cannot allow for this to be happening, we cannot be like this, we cannot condone
00:37this.
00:38And so, I want to thank the Secret Service and all the agencies, including the state
00:41agencies that have been engaged in making sure that people, and we have more detail
00:47to come relative to other people who may be injured in the audience.
00:51I don't have all that detail, we'll make that available to you.
00:55I may be able to come back a little later tonight, but we'll put out a statement if
00:58we don't, if I'm not able to, if it's not convenient for you all.
01:03The bottom line is, the Trump rally is a rally that he should have been able to be conducted
01:09peacefully without any problem, but the idea, the idea, that there's political violence
01:15or violence in America like this is just unheard of, it's just not appropriate.
01:19I mean, everybody, everybody must condemn it, everybody.
01:23I'll keep you informed, and if I'm able to speak to Donald, I'll let you know that as
01:28well.
01:29So far, it appears he's doing well, number one.
01:34Number two, that they're thoroughly investigating what happened to anyone else in the audience.
01:39I have, we have some reports, but not final reports.
01:43Every agency in the federal government, I'll be, and I'm going back to my phone to speak
01:48with the federal agencies that are being put together again to give me an updated briefing
01:53if anything happened, if they learned any more in the last couple hours.
