00:00Over the weekend, beloved streamer Sketch went through a content creator's worst nightmare,
00:06and although his past was dug up for all to see, he made it out okay thanks to a handful
00:11of loved ones and friends.
00:13"...some people saved me.
00:16Shout out Banks.
00:18Shout out my parents.
00:21Shout out y'all."
00:22Sketch seemingly arrived out of nowhere this year, quickly becoming one of the biggest
00:26stars in streaming thanks to his catchphrases, sense of humor, and viral TikToks.
00:31"...f**k it, we gotta go, come on, everything's off, all gas, no brakes, there you go."
00:38On July 7th, the content creator went viral for a very different reason.
00:42A number of explicit videos and photoshoots suddenly began circulating online, with several
00:48parties claiming that the person in the footage was Sketch, with some of his fellow streamers
00:53reacting to the leaks on their channels and others insisting that the videos weren't legitimate.
00:58Sketch finally hopped online on July 8th to clear the air.
01:02Though he began the stream with his usual joking attitude, referring to his haircut
01:06as the true elephant in the room, he quickly turned to more serious matters.
01:11As it turns out, he is the person in the footage.
01:14The videos and photos were taken two years ago for OnlyFans, during a difficult time
01:18in Sketch's life that he wants to leave behind him.
01:21"...I was dealing with some addiction problems.
01:26A couple of them.
01:27Yeah, that was me.
01:28Um, I f**ked up.
01:29I won't do it again."
01:30A clearly shaken Sketch continued to call attention to the growing number of viewers
01:35checking out what he had to say, jokingly comparing his numbers to one of his frequent
01:39collaborators and friends, Jinxy.
01:42It makes sense that Sketch wanted to get his side of the story out in the open, considering
01:46how quickly the OnlyFans leaks became the talk of social media.
01:50Within hours of the footage being posted, it seemed like everyone on the internet had
01:54an opinion to share.
01:56Some streamers initially refused to believe their eyes while viewing some of the footage
02:00on their channels.
02:01Due to the nature of the footage, debates also broke out concerning Sketch's sexual
02:06orientation, with some demanding to know how Sketch identifies and others insisting that
02:11it's nobody's business but his own.
02:13Others vowed to stop watching Sketch after learning he'd tried to cover up this part
02:17of his past.
02:19Rumors also quickly spread that the NFL was planning to distance itself from Sketch and
02:23refuse future partnership opportunities, but it seems these rumors were simply that — rumors.
02:29In light of these negative reactions, some feared that the internet would only become
02:33a more hostile environment for Sketch.
02:35YouTube creator McNasty argued,
02:38"'Low-key' feel bad for Sketch.
02:40He's popular in the sports community, which is dominated by toxic masculinity, and they
02:45are never gonna let him live this down."
02:47Sketch's bro is about to lose his career for being gay
02:50This idea didn't sit right with a number of content creators in the industry, including
02:55some of Sketch's closest pals in the business.
02:57"'Like, no matter what happened in the past, no matter what happens in the future, he's
03:02still a genuine good-ass dude.'"
03:04"'Of course.'"
03:05One of Sketch's most vocal supporters in the early hours of the scandal turned out to be
03:09FaZe Banks, who posted a screenshot of a text conversation with the young streamer.
03:14Sketch apparently left Banks' home in a panic when the clip started leaking online, prompting
03:18Banks to reach out to him and promise him a friendly ear to talk to.
03:22In the post, Banks insists that his fellow FaZe Clan members all have Sketch's back.
03:27As for Sketch himself, it looks like he's going to be alright in the long run.
03:31He said the current feeling of having all of this out in the open felt like a weight
03:35lifted off his shoulders, but that his initial reaction was much darker.
03:39If it weren't for the kindness of fellow content creators like FaZe Banks, Sketch emotionally
03:44admitted,
03:45"'I probably wouldn't be talking to you right now.'"
03:47Since Sketch went live with his side of the story, a number of fans on social media have
03:51rallied around the streamer, also shouting out FaZe Banks and some of the other members
03:56of FaZe Clan for being there when Sketch needed them.
03:59A visibly emotional Jinxy also went live to respond to Sketch's confession stream, saying,
04:05"'I'm glad that Banks was there for him.
04:07You lost respect for Sketch or you don't want to support Sketch anymore.
04:12To be honest, just don't support me either.'"
04:14The internet is still divided in the aftermath of this stream.
04:17Some detractors have said that they feel like Sketch misled his friends and fans.
04:21Meanwhile, big names like Jacksepticeye have commended Sketch for opening up about his
04:26past and being vulnerable with his audience.
04:29As Sketch explained in his livestream, this is definitely not where he expected his week
04:34to go.
04:35But it looks like the people closest to him will not be turning their backs on him anytime
04:39soon.
